[Q] Paid apps question - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a question about paid apps. I bought NFS Shift a while back when it was on sale for 99 cents. I have noticed that there has been updates available for quite some time now (I first saw the available updates in AppBrain), but every time I try and update through AppBrain it says that it can't be found. If I search for NFS on the market, it shows up as if I have never paid for it.
If I log in to my market account online it does show up as me having paid for it, but it does not show up in my download list on my phone. I am sure it has something to do with my doing factory resets, flashing ROMs, etc, but is there an easy way to fix it? If I were to uninstall it, if I log in to my market account online, will it let me reinstall it from there (assuming it would still show up there)?
I don't want to uninstall it and then find out that I get screwed, especially since the price is $4.99 again. I have been reading a lot of horror stories with EA lately too (many people are getting charged twice, etc).
Anyone else seen this issue?

Just a thought-If you want to test if it will try to charge you, why not just remove your credit card from your google account and try to purchase it. If it says you already own it, then you should be able to download it again. If it tries to charge you again (darn you EA) then the transaction will simply fail b/c it has no credit card.

Android Market Payment Declined

Ok so I tried to purchase the new Reckless Getaway game, but the card I tried to use was an old one and has since been renewed, I just havn't updated the card details, so when I click buy it came up with payment declined, so I backed out and try to use my other card connected to the account, but it says that I have already purchased this game, but obviously it wont download, and doesnt give me another option to buy again, is there anyway around this??/
I have also tried on my laptop on the android web page to buy again but it still says it's already purchased, but in the purchased history it says
Payment declined - Order cancelled
Have you tried logging into Google Checkout to see if it gives you more options through the web interface?
Also, after a few days Google cancels orders for good and you might be able to try again.

Apps Showing up as Purchased, When Never Paid for?

I figured I would help those few souls who might have mistakenlmyp downloaded full apps from the internet and realized that when they came to actually buy them the market said purchased. However, no matter what they did they would always show up as being purchased and the pay option would always fail. Well the solution is getting the android market 2.3.6 which will give you the option to either buy or uninstall them.
known issue, call Google technical support and open a ticket to have it fixed
my case is still open, they have a huge backup to deal with this bug, eventually some guy from Google will call you to help you sort out your account.
They won't fix it if you have a rooted phone or are running cm7, as they do a check on it so you have to return it factory settings. They tell you to speak to customer service, and honestly i prefer the old market to the new one.

[Q] Cannot see Paid Apps sections in Market

Hi,
I've just got hold of a Transformer Prime and am loving it, but I have one issue so far. I'm unable to see any Paid Apps in the market, just the free ones. I have an Android phone and am using the same google account on both. The phone works fine and I've made a few purchases from it historically without any problem. Indeed when I setup the Prime it installed some of my previously purchased apps onto itself. I've seen some discussion on using Market Enabler, but also seen that doesn't work properly on ICS. I'm just confused as to why it would be OK from the phone and not the Prime. I've performed factory resets, not provided my google account details on setup and directly into the market, but nothing works.
I'm based in the Channel Islands which may be part of the issue with regards to locallity and Market availability. But on all my previous Android phones it's been OK.
Any advice welcomed.

"the item you were attempting to purchace could not be found"
Same here. I live in Guam, USA and have the same problem. My prime is now on .14, unlocked, and rooted. Im gonna try some of the other market enabler apps and see if that works.
FIXED
I rooted using vipermod, installed marketaccess using a UK provider code, cleared android market data and its fine now.
But can you actually buy?
Yes you can see paid apps via root->marketaccess->clear market data, but can you actually buy them? I keep getting "The item you were attempting to purchase could not be found" when I try to buy any app.
Apparently it has something to do with the Market version?
Anyone?
Yes, I actually noticed that problem when I went to purchase something lol. A workaround is to purchase the item on my Android phone, then it's available to download on the Prime as the Market knows I've already purchased it. Annoying, but it's a workaround. I will hit problems when I want an application for the Prime that's not compatible on the phone though.
I don't know where the problem is, I looked into VPN solutions but it's all a load of hassle really. I've contacted Google about the problem but heard nothing yet.
Exactly the problem...
...trying to buy the two Tegra3-optimized games that can't be bought on the phone.
It's so freaking difficult being a law-abiding citizen these days. I am just a few clicks away from getting warez and start playing already!
I got it working!!!
Now I don't have the exact steps to get it working, because I only just noticed that on the web version of Market my Prime is now displayed with the faked carrier in front of its name. And then I was able to purchase the paid games I wanted on the web and have them OTA'ed to my Prime. Then I went to check the Market app on my prime, and I no longer get the "could not be found" error! So I went and bought something from my Prime and it also worked!
My *unproven* theory is that by setting the faked carrier and trying various things with it (downloading free apps from Market on the Prime) and leaving it on for a day or so, somehow the Market central database (or something) started to recognize my Prime as from the faked carrier. Then everything worked.
Or perhaps I did something *specific* that caused the Market central database (or something) to recognize my faked carrier. I was playing around with all the Setting/Location settings just a few minutes ago. Dunno if they did anything.
Note also that to make the purchase successful I had my credit card address in Google Wallet changed to an address matching the country of the faked carrier.

[Q] Android Market Question

Okay I have applications on my tablet that i got through alternative ways, and the market shows i payed for them but i didn't so i cannot update them. I want to pay so i can get updates but the problem is i cant get the market to allow me to pay for them because its linked to my google account. Is there a way around it so i can pay for it? I tried using titanium backup to destroy the market link but that's a no go, still shows i payed it so i cant buy to update. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and i will hit your thanks button.
Try and backup the app + data, uninstall, reboot, purchase and restore just the data.
Have you tried uninstalling the app(s) using Titanium Backup (keep the backup, just hit the uninstall button) ,then go to the market, re-install and purchase the app? Even though the market says purchased, when you go to update, you will never be able to without actually purchasing through the market because the market keeps track of what you purchase by association of your gmail. Tempting as it may be, NEVER get paid apps outside of the market for at least 2 important reasons : 1. SUPPORT DEVS! These apps take time and expertise and a number of other things, I'm sure you don't work for free, right? 2. Malware can be added to apps and you won't even know it, even if you use the latest/best antivirus/malware protection available! At least in the market you have a degree of protection against such bad things because a Dev does not want bad reviews and Google's Bouncer checks apps before they are allowed to be listed to minimize the chance of mailicious software. Sorry, really tried hard not to preach, just some friendly advice.

I have had this issue before too, and all my apps are from legal sources. OP may have done nothing wrong, because Amazon app store, getjar, and others show up this way in the Market. In TiBu, you can long press a problem app and select unattach to market and it will not show up. But if you want updates and to keep your data, the best way is what Gibeon said.
Correct I've gotten and paid on other markets. Ty for all the suggestions, ill try them out. Some apps I don't know what market I used for payment, but I rather just to buy again then figure it out. I did try uninstalling through titanium backup, a while back I used titanium backup and used the option of market doctor and somehow it links it to Google and can't figure it out to get rid of it. If I delete an app and destroy market link and go to Google online even with my computer it says I have purchased it already but errors out to get it. I'll mess around with it, shoot I guess I can make a second gmail to do it lol. Again thanks for your help

[Q] Detach wrongfully/accidentally attached app(s) from Market/Play store

I've searched for collectively around 45 minutes, so if this has been fixed somewhere else, I apologize.
I've seen lots of threads mentioning this issue with varying causes, but here's the meat of the situation:
Through one means or another, usually Amazon App Store purchase or accidental force attach to Market/Play Store with Titanium backup, apps show up as purchased, but cannot be bought or installed. An error is given that states: 'The download of "app name" was declined because you haven't purchased it.'
Detaching said apps from Market/Play store with Titanium backup has worked for me for ONE paid app, (I think) but not others. Examples: NFS: Hot Pursuit worked, but Shadowgun, Soundhound: Infinity, Mixologist and others still show up as purchased. I've downgraded to earlier Market and detached, detached and cleared Market data and then rebooted, any number of combinations to no avail.
I contacted Play Store support, they said there's a special division working on this issue, and I received an email saying they'd contact me if they needed any details.
Thoughts, anyone? This is really glaring, and should be fixed.
same thing going on here, and i've donde the same, please share if they tell you something m8, this is really annoying and the 50% off is almost done LOL.
As of play store 3.5 this issue is dead
