Im trying to recover to 2.5.1.4 from 3.0.0.8....
when i go to the bottom and click on it tells "an error occurred while downloading your recovery"
anyway how can i fix this or how can i flash it manually?

After some searching i found the CWM all. zip......
IT doesnt work this is frustrating....
Use the CWM-all odin file and flash it to your phone. Then you won't need to worry about using the zip file anymore.

to be more specific about the gingerbread rom i flashed it was this one

If you need I can upload the update.zip for the recovery if you need....
this is the update.zip from my Vibrant for clockwork recovery, I take no responsibility if it messes anything up
I just found the update.zip on my internal sd card then dropboxed it so I could share it
I'm no expert, I run voodoo, so I'm not sure if that will mess anything up

Hi Guys
I've got VillainsRom 1.1 installed, which was installed using Odin, I'm now trying to update to v1.4, but the file is in a .zip format, rather than the MD5 used by Odin. So I'm trying to install it using Rom Manager, but when it reboots into the install mode, it displays a message saying "Unable to verify".. Any clues on how to fix this?
Hi
Try unzip the file...in there you will find what you are looking for (md5 file)

why are you using rom manager? best to just reboot into recovery(I take it you have rooted via cf-root?) and flash it from there.
And don't ask questions in Development.

Please follow instructions in the thread. Do NOT use rom manager. You should install via CF-Root as guided
Evening,
Before I get bashed for starting this thread, I have searched the forum and Google but I have not yet found an answer. Also I would post this in the developers forum but I don't have rights to do that yet (post count too low).
Anyway I have been trying to flash my Galaxy Ace with clockworkmod 4.0.0.9 and I cant get it to work, I bought ROM Manager premium to try as well to no avil. When attempting to use the .ZIP file in the recovery mode I get the following:
-- Appling Muti-CSC--
-- Install /sdcard ...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E:Can't open /tmp/sideload/package.zip
(bad)
Installation aborted.

I am using ClockWorkModAce.zip downloaded from this website, I have tried to download the file again in case and that made no difference. Tried using ROM manager to apply it and that failed too. Tried it when phone was rooted and also when not rooted (after fresh Odin flash)
Using S5830XXKPH
Please help, I want to try some of these cyanogen ROMs that I have seen posted on here. Many thanks in advance for any help

Download cwm from here
http://www.mediafire.com/?lv3fbcp1fipxqfg
or if already downloaded go in recovery mod by long pressing home+power
and update from sdcard and select cwm file you put insdcard and install
now reboot.
Now when again you go in recovery mod you found it
and remember never install rom manager it cause brick many ace
Thank you for your reply, however I still get the same message appearing when I try to install CWM... Not being able to find anyone else reporting this problem on the internet I am baffled. hmmmm
Wish I didn't bother paying out for the premium rom manager now, didn't realise it could brick my phone.

What msg come when you trying to install cwm ?
Rebooting the phone and holding power & home button,
Selecting update from .zip,
Then choosing the CWM file, I then get this appear:
-- Appling Muti-CSC--
-- Install /sdcard ...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E:Can't open /tmp/sideload/package.zip
(bad)

Dude if not able to install cwm then how about to install rom like coderom 2x or fla.sh1 or any that kind of odin flashable rom. So you can flash it through odin and it have cwm preinstalled so you can then install cynogen mod
and you tried cwm from link i gave?
Or flash first kpb then cwm
Thanks for your help I will go off and explore more into one of the ones that I can flash through Odin. Is there one that you would recommend to assist me on my way to cyanogen mod?
Yeah tried the CWM in your link, do I stand a better chance for using CWM if I flash kpb first?
Thanks given for your assistance

Cwm not installed may cause you done some thing wrong with kph
so.flash first new firmware whether kpb ,ddkq5 or any other
so you can able to install cwm
I will give your advice a go and post back with the results, you sir are a gentleman... thank you
well I managed to flash with Coderom.v2x with Odin, have tried with a couple of different cyanogen ROMs but neither worked. Still got the same errors as above.
I cant be that unlucky that anything I try doesnt work... I must be doing something wrong but I dont know what!!
Well I certainly don't understand how you are flashing from a directory "sideload package". I forgot about the stock recovery menu, is there a choose zip to install function?
I get exactly the same error, but not when I flash my phone, but when I try to root it.
I flashed it with no problem (S5830LUBKP7), but when I try to root it with either up_1.zip or AceGingerRoot.zip, I get the error
-- Install /sdcard ...
Finding update package ...
Opening update package ...
E:Can't open /tmp/sideload/package.zip

I haven't been able to finda solution for this problem, I would appreciate any help please...
I had a nightmare getting CWM 4.0.0.9 onto my ace, however I flashed coderom with Odin which gave me CWM.
Now I cant get Cyanogen mod to install using CWM, I have tried reflashing my phone with XPB and starting afresh and also redownloaded any files I needed. When tring to flash I get the following... what on earth am I doing wrong? Is there a way to just flash this to my phone with Odin as I know this works!!
-- Installing: /sdcard/cm-7.1.0-beta2-cooper-03.10.11-grif_07.zip
Finding update package. . .

E: cant open /sdcard/cm-7.1.0-beta2-cooper-03.10.11-grif_07.zip (bad)

Maybe sd card problems where transfer of the zip corrupted the file? Are you sure you are on clockworkmod?
100% certain I am using clockworkmod, I have tried downloading the files a few times. Using the phone to download and also using a laptopto download and then transfering the files. its driving me nuts!
I do have another microsd card at home so may try using that
heay guys im trying to install cm9 but i cant boot into cwm, im on stock gingerbread with kernel DCKK2. I used Rom manager to install cwm, this error message comes up,

Install Mobile Odin and flash a CFroot-kernel.
AND DO NOT USE ROM MANAGER known problem with CM
CWM Manager
Looks like you didn't do your "homework" and read up, no you didn't, otherwise you would have read the stickies in the forum on how to root, flash etc
Moral is; If your not sure or confident, read more until you are ready...........
Note: ROM Manager is incompatible with SGS2 as recovery & kernel are flashed to same partition! So you need to flash a kernel with CWM recovery.
Do not flash this kernel if you have a 9100G model.
1. Install Chainfire's CWM Manager app attached.
2. Download a CF-root kernel from Chainfire's thread [14.01.2012][CF-Root 5.2] K/EFGHIJKL*, KP1/2/4/8/A, LA2, LP1/2 -su+bb+CWM4/5. Read his instructions on finding a matching kernel.
3. Extract the kernel "zImage" and place it on your internal sdcard (not external/removable).
4. Run CWM Manager app and allow Superuser permission.
5. Install kernel zImage
6. Follow any further instructions............
when i try and install CWM manager it says "application not installed"

1. Run app and allow Superuser permission if requested
2. Tap "Kernel"
3. Select either internal or externel; where you saved the kernel zImage (you extracted it earlier right?)
4. Navigate to where you saved the zImage and tap
5. Follow instructions ................
Edit: If still unsure, read and search Chainfire's Mobile Odin thread first,........ only then ask there
i god, i think my phone is briked :O i did exectly what u said picked the kernal, then flashed it, now my phone stalls on the start up screen, i can boot into cwm but nothing works in it(E: can't mount) and when i go to downloading mode to use odin, it doesnt detect it?? plz help mee
