Has anybody noticed, more with the nodo update, that when walking through those magnetic sensor posts in shop doorways that you phone will set them off. I have tried walking through in flight mode but it still sets them off. Only thing that stops it is switching the phone off. Don't know if its just my phone but its really annoying.
funny you should make a video of it...
i guess that isnt supposed to happen

I have SE x10 mini.
I like to turn the phone OFF while sleeping, but still need the wake up alarm...
How can I set the alarm to work even while the phone is shut-off ?
Thanks
As the android phone is like a PDA, the alarm clock not working when you turn the phone off
Alarm while phone off
You know, of all the crazy stuff you see on here, I haven't seen anyone talk about trying to get to work - if it might be possible. I hate this being not possible when you buy an Android phone - it sucks!
you can't switch it off but if you are worried about radiation you can put in airplane mode and the alarm will work
Thank u all guys.
I'm actualy worried about battery life, rather than radiation: For example if I'm out of home (camping, etc.. ) or forgot to charge the phone..
It's funny that such a sophisticated device not able to make a task that every $50 simple phone can...
Maybe this will be read by a diligent developer, that will chalange this to a solution..
If your problem is the battery life, use airplane mode instead of turn it off. Airplane mode for 8 hours uses less battery than reboot the phone. And your alarm will still work.
o.k.. after haveing some really bad experiences on international flights I am actually really happy the alarm doesn't work when the phone is off..
Its less of a problem now that Airlines are aware of "Flight Mode" but I remember one time when an Air hostess complained that I was using my phone during a flight.. (it was a W800 and I was listening to Music.. in flight mode ) So I grudgingly turned the phone off... then no more than 30min later the alarm went off... (really loud in a dark and quiet 747 cabin) I struggled to turn the alarm off with the music blaring and the phone display flashing just as the same hostess walked passed.. I can tell you now.. she wasn't impressed and didn't believe me that the phone was in fact off.
just my 2c but I am really happy I can completely disable my phone by turning it off in planes, movie theaters, funerals etc... if you want to save battery at night then put your phone in flight mode.. or buy yourself a cheap alarm clock and turn your phone off.
Kiwi
what you expect from android devices? this is not a made in china stuff.. whr ur off phone start like funky clock to wake u up!
I have a good one for anyone, I have a Evo3D which I am going to do all those wicked things to.. but last night or rather this am around 645. this Evo turned its self on and set off a alarm in which I had never set. when I was trying to shut off the alarm it started clicking away at the camera.. but there is no sd card in it, so it did not save them. and I had to pull the battery to shut the cell off again. the button on the top would not function the cell. this was a very strange occurrence while I was 3/4 asleep.. the cell is not activated and its banded sprint.. has anyone ever heard of this before? I have currently taken the battery out of the cell in case of ghostly occurrences.

never heard of anything like this .. if the cell isnt activated, then nobody could be remotely controlling it via the cell radio.
was it connected via wifi?
is the device internal memory write protection unlocked? rooted? are you running any type of custom ROM or software on the device?
sure sounds like a very odd occurance .. my only guess would be maybe you were a bit sleepy?
No this thing is stock.. and I'm not the only one who heard the alarm. my partner who was in bed with me heard it also.. and this morning we both said how freakin weird..
Are you sure the phone wasnt just in sleep mode. I cant see how the phone would turn on by itself. That would be the best invention ever.
ok here is the thing, I had taken the battery out and put it back in, and never turned the cell on. it was just laying there waiting for me to decide what to do to it.. IE root, rom mgr etc. When the damn thing just did this.. a self starting phone that rang the alarm at 645 am.. and when I picked it up the camera started acting wacky and I had to pull the battery to shut it back off.. weird huh.
Whatever you are smoking, you should probably share.
Weird
That does sound a little crazy......was alcohol involved
Record it!

would be the best invention? LOL My old phone Moto ROKR E6 have that ability. You know the phone was released in 2006.
heres the follow up. HTC whom i contacted said " that the on off button and the hardware in the notifications for the alarm was in a stuck loop meaning that it needs repaired . so its still under warranty and is on its way back to them. hopefully it will be fixed and returned. that they have seen this on this model. Im glad someone knew what the world is up.
oh and also i'm sorry I was not smoking anything, isn't my style.. sorry
I got a radar for free from work, had it for a month or 2 and something funny started happening. Whenever it takes a little tap in the wrong place or i put it in my pocket it turns off. I opened the phone up and completely took it apart and put it back together again making sure that every clip and screw was in place, and the same thing still happen. I'm just curious as to why something like this would happen. And what i mean by a tap i mean a TAP ...like putting my phone down on my desk when i get home causes the phone to shut off. Any help appreciated thank you very much
Just exchange it
^^Agree^^
I agree with MJCS best course would be to get it replaced. My best guess as to the actual problem would be the sim cover malfunctioning. The soim cover has several contacts that when interrupted will shutdown the phone.
me too
Hi hitman21888,
I'm experiencing the same on my HTC Radar, bought about 3 months ago. It's in waves though. When I just got it, it switched off randomly for a week or so, sometimes even 5 times per day, after which the problem disappeared by itself. 3 months past, and last week it started again. Since yesterday the problem disappeared again, yesterday and today the phone kept on during the whole day, so I think it got better again.
When it has this sickness, a hard tap on the screen or putting it FIRMLY on the table makes it switch off, and it switches off by itself aswell. When it's healthy again, tapping or putting it on tables doesn't make it switch off.
I've called HTC on this and they basically didn't recognise the problem, just advise me to do a hard reset. Did it - didn't help.
Have you found out anything?
Hey guys...
Well i been asking for ages now but never got a real answer so have decided to ask here.
On the old nokia phones from the late 90s early 2000`s you could turn them off, if you had set an alarm it would turn the phone back on so the alarm would go of.
Can we do this with android
Also if thats possible also if you set a timer on the phone and you reboot it, can you make it so you dont lose the timer/countdown
Hope you understand
Many thanks for reading

No if the crevices is off then nothing good except turning it on manually that will turn it back on.
I know this is an android forum but i would just like to know if anyone could assist me with this flight mode issue as I have searched everywhere and cannot find a solution.
I have a Nokia Lumia 830 that keeps going to flight mode, If you try put flight mode off it just keeps flashing between flightmode and mobile and it wont get a signal. The phone is fully functional aside from this, on wifi aside from phone calls the phone is fine with internet etc.
I have tried the nokia recovery tool, I have loaded older software, I have tried the latest software and I have tried loading the windows 10 developers software with the windows insider app all doing exactly the same thing just going to flightmode. I took the phone to a nokia repair centre and was told that the flight mode is part of the LCD and the whole screen would have to be replaced as the phone has water damage. I dont remember getting water damage but I wasnt gona dispute this as I was really drunk one night so theres a good possibility that this is true. I however dont buy that because a month after I bought the phone I had the same problem and I sent it in under warranty and they fixed the problem by replacing half of the phone speakers, cover, LCD and I dont know what else. I stay in south africa and vodacom only have one repair centre for the entire country so I presume they just replace parts till they find the problem and charge whatever they want.
I am no phone expert but I dont see how flightmode can be part of the hardware, surely its just software that disables specific mobile functions if anything maybe the antenna is damaged but nothing was mentioned about the antenna... anyway I would just like to know if there is anyway that I could disable the flightmode function in the manufacturers settings or load completely different software like android. Its just such a waste of a decent phone, when its working, and I just cant justify spending half the phones value on a new LCD.
Any help would be much appreciated.
