Hi,
I'm looking to swap my unlocked X10i for an X10a.
(For those who don't know, in the US:
X10a --> will access 3G only on AT&T
X10i --> will access 3G only on T-mobile
has to do with the radio band hardware)
The phone's in good condition and it looks like it has a screen protector (if it is a screen protector, it came with the phone, I didn't add it)
any takers?? frustrating being stuck on EDGE with AT&T!!
have froyo 2.2 ROM running on it, but will restore original sony 2.1 if you want..
Kannan
I have AT&T with CM 6.1.3 V054 by Wolfbreak on my X10i. However, i have and H which is better than 3G.

Hi,
I was under the impression that the X10i radio will _not_ support the 3G band that AT&T uses.
I'm not allowed to postr links yet, but search for "xperia x10i vs x10a" will tell you what I mean.
btw.. does CM = Cyanogen Mod? Could you tell me a bit more about what you did pls? I'd just been running zdzihu's froyo rom..
Thanks.
Kannan
yes CM is cyanogenmod. There is no significant difference between x10a and x10i. x10a= americas.. x10i= international. When you flash cyanogenmod is says that its supporting x10i and not x10a, im running ATT and i'm running x10i just fine. I wouldn't stress over a simple letter. Everything will work as it should.

Hey all,
Just had a question and wasn't sure if anyone was actively pursuing this yet.
Has anyone found a way to re-enable the wifi hotspot support within the AT&T 2.2 build that was just released this last week? With one of my past Streaks I was on Dell Unlocked 2.2 build and had some hardware charging issues after putting in all that work to take a ATT 1.6 to Dell (U) 2.2. I'd really like to avoid going backwards from my new att 2.2 to just go forwards to the dell 2.2 that had some stability issues.
I am aware that everyone has different opinions on which one is better so please focus any answers around how would it be possible to restore a native froyo feature to this ATT lockware OS.
Thanks All,

it can't be done. At&t does not want you to use your phone as a wifi hotspot so they removed that feature in the phone. Only way to get it back would be to downgrade back to the stock rom you had before.
If you don't have unlimited data plan go for 340, it's fast and stable, if you have unlimited data plan 318 + performance fix is my first choice although I never had any issues with any of DJ Steve's ROMs they are all kind to my Streak and my Streak loves them back, but having read all the others are posting, would really give you second thoughts. Maybe it is just a matter of following instructions, if you didn't get it right it will be a disaster indeed. I just don't get it,English is just a second language to me but I am able to always get it right, guess that is my advantage, having English as secondlanguage.

I don't have battery issues with 318 plus the performance fix. From 24-36 hours with no problems.
Hello.
I am really hoping someone can clear up for me what the different basebands mean to the OS/apps running on my X10. From what little I know they are regional but I don't understand the benefits/hazards of changing them.
I live in Ontario, Canada and my phone was an X10a. I've since flashed different ROM's and am currently running 2.2.1, X10i with 2.0.46 bb.
I understand that the BB version can affect certain ROM's getting stuck in reboots, and even possibly some communication issues, but can they affect things like the camera's performance? general performance of the phone? text messaging?
Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but from my understanding the baseband is kind of like a communication interface between the android os and the hardware. so if you have a rom thats made for a different baseband than you're running will cause errors.
the BB is the radio of your phone
if you didn't have a radio you wouldn't have wifi or a network signal
I'm currently using BB 52 which alot of the devs use
try a couple and see how your battery and other things respond
make sure the bb is compatible with the rom or patch the rom
Hi I am having the same type of issues. I have an X10a and I have tried a couple of different Roms with different basebands. It still comes up with the no signal and shows my phone as an X10i. Wondering if these Roms work well with X10a I did an upgrade a while back to rom 2.1 it shows by baseband of 49. but nothing seems to jive with it. Anyone have success on ATT US with X10a?
It does not matter if your phone says X10a or X10i. The different basebands shouldnt make any difference for most people the only difference is what ROMs work with it. I am in US on AT&T using .58 BB, Wolfs ROM and my phone says X10i. I have had no problems or noticed any differences using any of the basebands for the past 5 months.
If you get no service after flashing a ROM see if the app dev tools is there and open it then go bad behavior>crash system server, then let your phone reboot and you should have service. If that doesnt make a difference make sure your APN settings are set up.

I am hoping to get a discussion about the xperia x10 for users in the U.S. I am using wolf's TW 007.1 with custom kernal on baseband 52. I am wondering what others are using in the U.S.? Which rom, baseband is working well for you?
I use WB's CM6 rom too, but I use baseband 54, which in my opinion is the best for X10a in USA. I tried using the new AT&T baseband 2.1.65 on WB's and had text message problems, and 2.1.65 limited data to 3G on AT&T 2.1 update.
I'm using .52 with the custom kernel on WB's TW007. No issues thus far for me. I've also tried it on .54 and can't see any discernible difference.

I've tried both as well and I feel the same....it's just good to know I'm not missing out on anything. Thanks.
I'm using BB 67 and it works great.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but basebands deal with a radio signal, which is why some are better for certain regions. I started with wb's rom with 55 and then 54, both gave me good reception and there would be a lot of switching between 3g and H. Since I've moved to baseband 52 I still get good reception but only the H, which I'm not complaining about at all, I'm just trying to understand why. Thanks.
I'm running stock 2.1 generic with BB 54, rooted and junk removed. Everything works fine. The reason I do not use any custom ROMS is because there is always something that is not working properly or only partially working.

The only issue I have with WB's rom is that there is no zoom or led for the camera but that is almost a non-issue for me.
67 worked great for me, signal and battery wise. running 54 right now on ew's rom
So, Batman, you're not the only one encountering this! I thought it was just me. Primary problem for me is flaky WiFi, but the last ROM I tried had an issue with texting, although it may have been because I was using AT&T BB of 65 instead of SE's BB of 54. I've pretty much given up on custom ROMs until GB comes in August and we'll see how that goes (running stock 2.1 rooted and de-branded with BB 54).

Yep. It has been common knowledge on here for a while that custom ROMS are always missing something. So you would have to pick which ROM has what features missing that you can live without before installing it.

I guess I just like to mess around with my phone. Also most developers tell you what is missing for each rom so it is pretty easy to pick and choose.
I am using the same (CM 6.1.3 with Wolf's TW 7.1 with custom kernel and .52BB) and have not seen any problems with wifi or data connection or voice calls. No issues with camera but some time video recording lags (though its manageable)...
Okay I have a Mytouch 3G Slide Running CM7 (which is a GB 2.3.3 build). From what I hear, CM nightlies run on 2.3.5! Is there any major difference because I really want to try nightlies but if there is no point in me flashing them if there is no real difference! Also, I know that there is no such thing as a "stable" nightly, but which one (based on ones you have tested) work the best and have the fewest glitches? I dont really care about much when it comes to roms, but working Wifi, bluetooth, market and network coverage are a MUST! thank you for your help in advance
I can't help choosing the best nightly, but I know a few differences. First of all these updates are only security updates, but there are a few new features too. From Android 2.3.4 apps can access the usb port of the phone, but i didnt find any app using this feature yet, and you also have to have the hardware for the app. If you ask me you shouldn't use unstable rom because it's 2.3.5 instead of 2.3.3

hey guys,my first post here, tho been reading a lot on XDA...
i'm currently running Turl's V9 CM9 with 1.3Faux kernel,my question is should i update my radios aswell?and if i do?which one should i use?
my carrier is Pelephone in Israel.
another question : what are the effects of those radios on the device?
Hello.
As far as I remember, when flashing cm7/cm9 the radio doesn't change and so it should still work.
I used CM7, CM9 and blur based ROMs and had no issues with the radio. (I'm on Rami Levi)
Generally different radios could either improve or worsen reception over the cell network (and WiFi?) also might improve or worsen battery drain.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it .
Ok thanks for the answer, thought it was important, now i see it's not

European 100 radio is OK in Orange Israel.
Not sure for Pelephone.
Effects? Mostly in how your WiFi and GPS work.
I still have the stock N_01.95.00R from orange, never bothered changing it and it works fine with rami levi.
is there a page which lists all the released radio versions?
