Bt mono or super mono froyo - Optimus One, P500, V General

So I'm interested in buying the LG optimus for virgin mobile. Has anyone used bt mono or super mono froyo, they are apps to stream audio to a Bluetooth headset. Really nice for navigation and listening to podcasts. I need to know if this phone can can use it...thanks!!

I have an Optimus T for tmo and love it. Huge bang for the buck.
I use super mono froyo several hours each day. I bought it when it was $7 and was happy paying it.
Caveat: I have reported a bug to the author that on original-res screens like the G1 and Optimus the menu doesn't show correctly on the screens in the last few versions. He has indicated he will fix it.
Because of that bug you may want to consider BTmono. I've never used it but it looks decent.

Need advice about buying this phone

I am thinking of buying a phone for my dad. He's always used Nokias and hence I need a phone which would be easy to use. My main requirements are good voice call quality. This is very important as he has many calls in the day. Good battery life is also important. Is LG P500 recommended for a user like him. I can flash GB on the phone if it is available for this phone. Otherwise he is not going to do any tweaking, only use for calls and hopefully browse the net. He needs Yahoo messenger also.
He will also like having family photos on the phone and listen to old songs, hope the loudspeaker is also good.
Yeah, there's YM!, and the battery is good on stock but better on rooted phones (with the properly removed apps) About the sound, I think the quality's better with headphones on http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_optimus_one_p500-review-544p5.php#aq. If you're gonna flash a gb cm7 rom, I recommend either the stable build of mik (wait for the bug fixes on the latest) or void.forever.
The phone's voice quality is very good, no worries about that. Better battery life on Android 2.2, in my opinion. Depending on what kind of Nokia your dad used to own, he might be slightly disappointed with an Android smartphone (not the LG Optimus One in particular, but any other make) because he will get around 3 days of battery life at most. Y!Mess can be installed via Market. Photo storage and viewing won't be a problem, but a pleasure and the loudspeaker is decent: I'm listening to music in the loudspeaker while I'm driving and it is loud even in traffic, with the side window opened.
Still the best deal you can get for its price.
For better battery, your father will have to stick to froyo 2.2, which is more than sufficient for his usage.

u can even check dell xcd 35 at the same range
The optimus one is a great phone for first time Android users. I bought one for myself, because it is a good price, and does what basic user needs. It does more when rooted and modded, but dont expect anything magical. Mine doesn't run well at 806mhz cpu speed, I have to clock it down to 768 for it to be optimized for general use. A cheaper phone with the same basic qualities would be the Optimus ME. I bought that phone for my father, and it is his first smart phone. It seems to run decently, but has some issues with running slowly after going to home page after using an app. I think that if you are able to root and overclock the optimus me, it would run/ perform a lot more desirably. As for the speaker, I think the Optimus ME and Optimus One are about the same. I too play music from the head set while driving, and I put the phone in a little cubby hole, which seems to amplify the music. All in all the Optimus one is a good Phone, but I would steer more towards the Optimus Me if your father isn't going to use many apps. The YM app a couple of news apps, maybe the gmail app, and the Optimus Me does great. However, once you get into games, performance needing apps, etc. the ME begins to show its limitations.

Worth getting?

So is this player worth getting? I had Zune HD a while back but didn't use it a whole lot. I don't like using my Incredible as an mp3 player and I currently have a sansa clip+.
Is there something that stands this out over other mp3 players?
things I'm looking for:
Sound quality
ease of use (syncing, organizing, etc.)
battery life (my clip+ get 6-8 hours, I want 12+)
durability (i am butter fingered)

Well... since you seem to be familiar with Android devices already, I am not sure what else you are looking for. If you need just a music player, stick to what you have.
The Galaxy player 4.0 is a brilliant sounding player with Voodoo Sound installed which takes advantage of the Wolfson DAC which is regarded as one of the best audiophile sound chips. The sound quality is brilliant with wide soundstage, rich punchy bass and good mids and highs. The sound quality is up there with my Sony X1060 and Cowon J3.
Just got the 5.0 today will test out tonight! Hello everyone not new to xda just this section glad i cld join yall and help as much as pos

For me - the 5.0 has a bigger screen than my GSII, but it's not as large as my Tab.
I actually find myself using it far more than expected - it's in a kind of perfect size range. However I almost never actually use it for media playback!
If I owned a Galaxy Note it would probably be pointless - but it's pretty well suited in the size gap between the DInc and Transformer the OP owns.
Well what it seems is that I might just upgrade my clip+ to the clip zip.
I love android but i think having three devices is a bit much. Granted the audiophile bit a few posts intrigues me.
I guess this is better for people without tablets/phone who still want andy in their pocket. A good phone upgrade is what I really need.
Why is the audio chipset diff in the 4.0 and the 5.0? Anyone know, seems kinda crazy to me.

Definitely
Worth getting? Definitely. I've had iPod touch 4G and Galaxy Player YP GB70 and I'm just selling the iPod. The Samsung is way more practical in daily use. There are two GB70 versions here in Korea, white with TFT display and black with something that seems to be OLED. I like the white one more (have both currently ;-). Also in March there would be new version of Galaxy Player 70 introduced, maybe wait for that one and order directly from Korea..

Oh yeah, forgot that difference... The MC1N2 in the 5.0 is a bit of a disappointment.

Apple head phones

Can apple head phones be used with the optimums G?
They should work fine, though any media controls on them may or may not work. Apple uses the same 3.5mm jack size as everyone else.
Sent from my Optimus G using xda premium
Yes,you can use them. I bought the ones from the iPhone 5 and they sound pretty good if you ask me (not an expert here),but I enjoy them.
I bought them on Ebay, but buyer beware, there are tons of iPhone 5 bad knock-offs. Mine were $19.99 from a guy who got the ip5,took them out of the box and listed them on Ebay.
All the features on the headphones won't work obviously.
Ya all headphones work but the volume controls won't ever work unless they are an android specific pair of headphones.... It's a hardware issue so can't even be fixed by roms
Although you have an android, it may actually be worth getting the Apple version of the head phones. It won't affect how they work with the phone, but also give better options for the future if you sell or transfer.

Video while On Speaker Phone

Maybe I am late on this, but I was on the phone with someone and I had them on speaker phone. At the same time, I had a YouTube video blasting on the phone. To my surprise, the person on the phone could not hear my video!!! Did you guys know this? Is this standard operation with a noise canceling phone?
Now I wonder if I can play PlayStation with my girl on speaker and not hear her complain about the tv being to loud.
ROF about girlfriend.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4
Yes it's standard, their is the primary microphone on the bottom, & a secondary on the back. Any sound that's heard in fairly equal volume on both mics is cancelled. Anything that's louder or primarily heard on the primary(bottom Mic) your voice, is let through. If you were to yell to someone in the other room so that the secondary Mic picked up your voice at a volume closer to what the primary is hearing it would block that out to. It's more complicated than that, but that's basically how it works. The One is really good because both microphones are dual membrane HD microphones, with much higher sensitivity than normal microphones. No expenses was spared making this phone, it really uses the highest quality parts available in just about all areas. If your on 4g with someone els on T-Mobile on a One M7, GS4, or IPhone 5 it's switches to HD voice which is really incredible. It's to bad it has to be two HD voice compatible phones on the same network to use it. Some day soon it should work cross carrier but not yet. Me & my fiance both have One M7s so whenever we talk it's HD voice. It's 10x better than a normal phone call. But she's the only one, I know on T-Mobile with a HD voice compatible phone. Great tech though, her voice comes through in CD quality it really is incredible. Can't wait till it's more widely used. Most have never even used it.

Wow I learned a lot from that post. Didn't really know about the mic on the One. Thought it was standard.

New Earphones, Best Music App?

Hey guys!
I've just invested in some decent Sennheiser earphones (never use stock ones!) and I'm now looking for a music app to match! I've found the stock music player lacks the dynamic range for the different types of music I listen to. My main genres are progressive rock, rock, techno/house and occasional classical. I've dabbled with the trial of Power Amp and was quite impressed, but wanted to know what other people have tried and gone with before I part with my meagre amount of money! Audiophiles, lend me your ears!!!
What are your recommendations/thoughts?
Cheers guys.
Probably already done it but don't forget to set up the adaptive sounds settings

I'm guessing this only works with the stock player, or is it part of the system output and would also work with third party apps?

On mine it's in settings, sounds and noticifications, sound quality and effects,
In here is adapt sound and other sound options they make my cheap blue tooth set sounds a little richer
And the adapt sound helps with my right ear hearing better than my left
imho poweramp is one of the best, has many frequency control, effects and a lot of theme like this:

adaptive sound is really bad..go with viper4Android this is the best and could be used with all players..BTW I'm still stick to my old in ear beats headphones ..they were included in the HTC sensation XL times..
I use Neutron and it is great.

Not looking to root I'm afraid. While I've rooted my last few devices, I use my GS6E for NFC payments and rooting would cause this to stop working. Also my 1 year old boy keeps me too busy these days!
I did have some UrBeats earphones with my One X a few years ago before I sold them, and after recent reports that they are nothing more than a brand name behind cheap Chinese made earphones, I'd rather steer clear of them. Quite happy with my Sennheisers!

I think that if it wasn't for the NFC payments and that I've only got the phone for another 11 months, I'd probably consider rooting. As for the headphones, perhaps you ended up with some fakes? Plenty of them out there which is a shame.

In Poland everywhere where they have PayPass I can pay with NFC, the same thing.

As for headphones and liking the sound or not, it depends on our music tastes and sound tastes greatly. Not all good headphones will be suitable for everyone.
I can recommend brainwavz and Soundmagic on my side. I have been using Brainwavz M3 with my S6 Edge and they sound great using Neutron. For desktop I have Soundpagic HP100 and they are great as well. Chinese, but if you read reviews on sites like Head-Fi.org, you will be surprised how good these are. I also have had Sennheiser MX980 for a few years and they sound nice.
The earphones I ended up getting are the Sennheiser CX 300-II. I know there are better ones out there for more money but considering I came from Logitech UE 200 they are a vast improvement, even on my laptop!
Just want to thank everyone for the replies. I'll probably end up going with Poweramp as I do like the features it offers and the different formats it plays. Quite a bit of my collection is in flac and although the stock player supports the format, the dynamic range of Poweramp is, imo greater.

Maven player? Jet audio? These 2 served me pretty good.
Viper audio if you're rooted. Not a player but a great way to control the sound
