Video while On Speaker Phone - T-Mobile HTC One (M7)

Maybe I am late on this, but I was on the phone with someone and I had them on speaker phone. At the same time, I had a YouTube video blasting on the phone. To my surprise, the person on the phone could not hear my video!!! Did you guys know this? Is this standard operation with a noise canceling phone?
Now I wonder if I can play PlayStation with my girl on speaker and not hear her complain about the tv being to loud.

ROF about girlfriend.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4

Yes it's standard, their is the primary microphone on the bottom, & a secondary on the back. Any sound that's heard in fairly equal volume on both mics is cancelled. Anything that's louder or primarily heard on the primary(bottom Mic) your voice, is let through. If you were to yell to someone in the other room so that the secondary Mic picked up your voice at a volume closer to what the primary is hearing it would block that out to. It's more complicated than that, but that's basically how it works. The One is really good because both microphones are dual membrane HD microphones, with much higher sensitivity than normal microphones. No expenses was spared making this phone, it really uses the highest quality parts available in just about all areas. If your on 4g with someone els on T-Mobile on a One M7, GS4, or IPhone 5 it's switches to HD voice which is really incredible. It's to bad it has to be two HD voice compatible phones on the same network to use it. Some day soon it should work cross carrier but not yet. Me & my fiance both have One M7s so whenever we talk it's HD voice. It's 10x better than a normal phone call. But she's the only one, I know on T-Mobile with a HD voice compatible phone. Great tech though, her voice comes through in CD quality it really is incredible. Can't wait till it's more widely used. Most have never even used it.

Wow I learned a lot from that post. Didn't really know about the mic on the One. Thought it was standard.

Bt mono or super mono froyo

So I'm interested in buying the LG optimus for virgin mobile. Has anyone used bt mono or super mono froyo, they are apps to stream audio to a Bluetooth headset. Really nice for navigation and listening to podcasts. I need to know if this phone can can use it...thanks!!

I have an Optimus T for tmo and love it. Huge bang for the buck.
I use super mono froyo several hours each day. I bought it when it was $7 and was happy paying it.
Caveat: I have reported a bug to the author that on original-res screens like the G1 and Optimus the menu doesn't show correctly on the screens in the last few versions. He has indicated he will fix it.
Because of that bug you may want to consider BTmono. I've never used it but it looks decent.

[Q] Audio Quality Amaze/MT4G

Hey guys I've read some posts, reviews and watched some video samples of the Amaze and from what I can tell..it's true, the audio recording on this phone is horrible.
I wanted to ask if anyone from this forum could compare it to the MT4G?
That's the phone I am currently using now and want to know how does it measure up to the MT4G's audio recording when shooting video.
I ask because I record a lot of videos with my MT4G and it's important that the audio quality on the Amaze isn't less than my phone.
1080p would be awesome to have (mine has 720p) but I don't want to sacrifice audio quality.
So with that being said, could anyone tell me from personal experience whether it's worse or better when compared to MT4G?
Thanks a lot.
I would ask if you are so concerned for professional reasons and then I realized a pro would use a real camera...
Not trying to be a prick or anything. Just curious.
What is with the concern of how well the audio is recorded off your phones camera?

Because I don't own a point and shoot camera so I rely on my phone to do all the recording.
I have two kids, 5 and 4, and I record them all day, everyday.
So yeah I just don't want to sacrifice the audio quality for better video quality.
Cause if you have kids that young you should know the audio is the most important part!! They say some of the craziest things. Lol.
Anyway, thanks for asking though. I don't mind explaining. Do you have any thoughts here?

If you want good audio quality on a phone camcorder, you're not going to have any luck with HTC, put simply. The Amaze is a fantastic phone and video quality is among the best out there, but audio has never been HTCs strong point. If you're looking for great audio, I'd suggest looking into a Motorola device, though T-Mobile really doesnt support Moto anymore it seems. If you do go with Motorola, just know that video quality will not be the best on most, at least from what I've seen. The Razr looks solid on both fronts. Then there's the iPhone 4S, which undoubtedly has the best of both worlds. Either way, I'll stick with the Amaze. I love it in every way.

AWESOME!!!! Way better answer than anything I could think of. I definitely see where you are coming from. Audio would be very important.
Not that I have taken a lot of video with mine yet but I have to say it does not sound any better/worse than my iPhone's ever did. Video is a ****load better though

So it's not like a horrible difference yeah? Well that's good.
I mean my biggest thing was whether it'll be worse than my current phone.
myTouch 4G.
That's really what I'm trying to get at.
I don't have a problem with my phone's current audio recording.
I just don't want to be downgrading. =P

I can understand what you're saying, but my thing was just whether it's an audio downgrade from my current phone, the HTC myTouch 4G.
That's all. But thank you for the suggestions and yeah I'm not a big fan of Moto phones either.
Thank you.
What about Music quality?
How is the audio quality for music and video? I use my phone as mp3 player.

The audio quality is very good. But not stellar. Much depends on the source. If you use badly compressed mp3 files and cheap earbuds don't expect much. The phone can play .flac files if you install a 3rd party player like PowerAMP. That combined with a good set of headphones (I'm using Klipsch, which are also very good but not stellar) then the audio quality is more than adequate.

Why don't you take you're kids to a t-mobile and take some test videos too compare? Seems Luke that would be the easiest thing for you to do and you would not have to rely on any the opinion of someone else.

As far as recording, the audio is just as good as my vibrant...take that as you may--I am not a huge video guy. Plus, once you record, you can edit the audio on your pc.
PowerAmp is the single, most important app for me...in the car, at work, everywhere, the output is amazing.

Beats Audio
Do you know if Beats Audio will be in the Amaze anytime soon or in the dev posts?
audio seem ok to me...I had the SGS2 which only provides MONO audio, and audio quality seemed good . This phone provides mono and Stereo so I played around with it and when I put it on mono audio the sound quality is much better, but then again you get mono....So It might have something to do with the extra microphones trying to pick up extra sound and cutting out the background noise....Personally I feel the sound on the Amaze is much more clear with high treble, than the SGS2, is the only phone I can compare it to. sound on SGS2 was muffled a little. also the speakerphone on the back and front of the HTC device sound much less muffled than My SGS2, I have no experience with motrola or any other brank of phone.

I installed a app from the marketplace called Volume+, it was less than 2 dollars. But you can go to the dev website and download it for free. It boost up the volume from the audio playing from the loudspeaker and headset. I don't know if it will boost the recorded incoming audio. To me I had the MT4G rooted with a sense 3.0 Rom and I already love this amaze. As long as your hand doesn't block the microphones on the phone it is fine. Plus for 15 dollars you can buy the adapter to hook up to your tv and watch the glorious 1080p via HDMI. Also my Amaze is all stock. Plus the reception and call quality is very good.

This may seem odd but I found that, to me at least, it sounds better with the "stereo recording" off. That's how my MT4G videos sound.
Anyway, volume is not the problem here. It's sound quality.
I get the best recording with an app called rec forge, mono, wav and 22khz sample rate. The stereo recording does not improve the fidelity of the sound. I have yet to try an external Mic.

Call quality/Bluetooth/headset/duplicate txt issues?

Hey guys, interested in buying a galaxy note and since it uses a lot of the same hardware as the skyrocket, I'm wondering if you guys are plagued with these issues too?
Call quality - finding myself having to readjust the phone so people can hear me clearer even in a empty room
Headset - background hiss even when not listening to music or on a call
Bluetooth - trouble connecting certain devices and staying connected
Duplicate/failed txt - self explainitory. Doesn't seem like its just me, but its definatly not everyobe .
Are you guys having any of these issues? It effects whether I buy this device or not

I also have a skyrocket and picked up the ATT GNote yesterday. I have had the duplicate and failed text on the skyrocket but assume that is LTE? The bluetooth issue is really a bummer on the skyrocket. It is worthless so you can be sure I have the GNote paired with my Jawbone BT and my car. Will report more after I have more experience.
If the BT on this model is not as good as the International Gnote, it is going back to ATT.

couple of questions

I have a couple of questions before i decide to get one of these things:
1. I am told there is a WIFI TETHER program that will work on these phones without ROOT. what is this program?
2. Where someone gets one, can you make a video recording with very loud audio (like being at a concert). the ORIG EVO distorts like hell and I wonder if this is resolved on this unit
3. is there a car mount like what the Orig Evo has?
Thanks...
I grabbed an HTC one x and used it at Bamboozle last weekend. It did pretty well with the shows. Check them out on YouTube, therealspanky34 is my name there.

Im guessing the ONE X has the same sound and video quality as the 4G LTE??
The video quality should be identical since they use the same camera. The audio quality should be practically the same as well.
Edit: I'm returning my one x once my evo shows up. I just had to have a different camera for the trip.

hard to tell from those videos but the 1080p looks like with fast movement, it blurs and the audio, while it doesnt appear to sound distorted doesnt sound that great...
It's the best video I've ever gotten from a concert with a phone though. My OG EVO was pretty awful at it.
Also, there's a car dock available from Sprint.
As far as the WiFi teather without root, not sure about that one.

i remember in an old evo thread that if you tether without root, sprint can easily tell, which is why someone said to always root before you tether, at least they have to go looking for it instead of some kind of icon on your account usage. or something like that...

Apple head phones

Can apple head phones be used with the optimums G?
They should work fine, though any media controls on them may or may not work. Apple uses the same 3.5mm jack size as everyone else.
Sent from my Optimus G using xda premium
Yes,you can use them. I bought the ones from the iPhone 5 and they sound pretty good if you ask me (not an expert here),but I enjoy them.
I bought them on Ebay, but buyer beware, there are tons of iPhone 5 bad knock-offs. Mine were $19.99 from a guy who got the ip5,took them out of the box and listed them on Ebay.
All the features on the headphones won't work obviously.
Ya all headphones work but the volume controls won't ever work unless they are an android specific pair of headphones.... It's a hardware issue so can't even be fixed by roms
Although you have an android, it may actually be worth getting the Apple version of the head phones. It won't affect how they work with the phone, but also give better options for the future if you sell or transfer.
