[Q] is there a CM7 market fix? - G Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i didnt see a post for the CM7 stable release market fix yet so i thought i would ask. basically i installed CM7 today and it ran great but the market didnt have all the apps i used to so i tried the market fix from other builds and then when i went to reboot it just froze on the "Android" screen.
dont know if i did something wrong or what, but it sux i had everything were i wanted it and did back up yet
oh well i start over every month anyway XP

Just install the CM7 Googe Apps. It's a universal installer, and you will get all of the apps for your system, including the Tegra apps. It's at the bottom of this page:

No market fixed needed for CM7 and I see more stuff than I did in VEGAn 5.1.1 with the Market fix.

Ditto. Something I had purchased on my Droid X wasn't available under VEGan or TNT Lite, but is under CM7.

[Q] Sirius/XM app - Stuck at "Checking for updates"

I am running the "Customized Nookie Froyo 0.6.7 CWR for eMMC". I tried Honeycomb on the SD card but it was too slow and didn't want to flash my internal memory with Honeycomb until GA. Most of the applications work quite well. A few don't.
One application that I really want to get working is the Sirius/XM app. I know that many devices have issues with this app. Someone on the "Slatedroid forums" implies that it is related to the Android_ID but this unit (OS) does have a valid Android_ID (although "SIM SERIAL, DEVICE ID and SUBSCRIBER ID are all "null".
Anyway, I am stuck at the infamous "Checking for Updates" screen after attempting to login.
Has anyone gotten past this screen using the Sirius app on the Nook Color running any mod?
Thanks in advance,
JR
I have had the same problem. I cant remember but I think the only time XM worked for me was on the Nook 1.01 software. I havent gotten it to work either. I would love to hear of a workaround as well.
Anyone? There has to be a way to get this working.
I don't supposed changing the "media.stagefright.enable-player" to false in the build.props file would address the "checking for updates". I read a lot about this for issues with streaming issues with the Sirius app when Froyo was just released.
Anyone got this to work?
I finally found the 1.1 version as it was hidden in the market.. but now that it's installed I'm stuck on the "checking for updates" as well
Take a look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=965301
Edit: Sorry I misread. You're on Froyo. Please disregard post.
I don't think this specific problem is limited to Froyo. The thread you highlighted is more about a program closing. That's not what's happening with the Sirius app.
Specially, I'm seeing this on GTab's Vegan Gingerbread ROM myself.
Just to followup on my own reply.. I was wrong
racks11479 solution worked great for me -- or atleast pointed me in the right direction. After patching the framework.jar file found in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=955847 My Sirius app started up and is currently running 100%
Note I'm running Vegan Gingerbread (which is based off of CM7)..
Not everything is working - for example the USA Today still closes after launch.

Glad it worked somewhat for your device. Cause I have USA Today on my nook CM7 v3 with my patched framework and it launches fine.
Yeah I don't have a nook (I landed here doing a Sirius search) I have the Viewsonic G-Tablet ..
And I got the USA Today to work, I just needed a newer version. I can't get the latest one from the market as it doesn't show up, but I got a newer one than I had and it loaded up and works great now!

Awesome. Yeah it seems that alot of apps will FC due to the CM7 ROM reporting our IMEI/AndroidID as null. And some apps are reliant on it to function properly.

when I get enough posts to allow me to post in the development section ... ... I'll post something in that thread to see about getting this patch integrated into the ROM to make life easier.
Just a heads up. But the CM7 team is fully aware of the issue an is working on getting a permanent fix to the issue so we won't need this workaround anymore.
Is this ever going to be patched? I just upgraded to the latest cm7 stable, and I still have to patch manually

Netflix Gingeritis Not Working

dopediculous said:
I didn't like the little notification toggle issues on IX so went back to VIII and now Netflix is saying there is a newer version that it must be updated to in order to work. The one that came with the Rom is the no device check, so I uninstalled and tried the other to at no avail!?
Do we have to mess with the build prob a bit to think our tbolt is a different device? I know when I did that, Netflix actually showed up in the market! So I'm guessing this may work... Any ideas? Thanks!

So... I made my device look like an incredible, went to market, installed update (because our tbolt GBs won't have Netflix in the market yet) after update installed to the "no device check Netflix .apk and the original Netflix .apk I get a little farther, but get an error about maybe my device being removed from acct (which makes no sense) or the device has been removed from Netflix. Wtf! Anyone else having Netflix issues?
4Geezy ON DopeDiculous's ROOTED TBeezy!
when I tried to rip the Apk from my Inc it was titled com.netflix.mediaclient-1.apk
it didn't work on my TB running bamf2.0beta5. I did get com.Netflix.mediaclient-2.API from another thread in the general section and it works fine.
It might be the emulation of the Inc that is getting you an incompatible apk from the market.

New Market app FCing crazily with process.com.vending.android

The Market app updated itself and now crashes after about 5s of launching. I can't download anything. Anyone know a fix? Or how do I revert to the old app and force it not to update?
I'm running CM7.0.3
EDIT: I tried to get the old .apk from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=869502 But it didn't work. The installation aborted in Recovery.
Settings, applications, market, clear data
This will make you have to sign back in and accept the eula for the market.
Used to fix mine until I really bjorked it....then had to reload rom and wipe all cache.
No, dude. It still FCs with the same ****. Maybe I should use Titanium to wipe data.
FCing new market
This happened to me too. Apparently there is an auto-update of the market? I had to keep uninstalling it to keep the market working. Then I migrated to the ASOP ROM in which the new market works for me.
ByteWrencher
I got Titanium to revert, but launching Market updates itself. Besides getting the paid version of Ti and then freezing the app, is there any other way to stop the damn thing from updating itself? Heck! How do I even get the paid version of Titanium if I can't get to the market in the first place.
me too....
everything fine yesterday...today, force closes as soon as i click anything in market.......hoping someone finds a fix. i haven't found one yet.
i hate it when they can't leave well enough alone.
Same here....
New market FCing can't even use it....I'm on Vegan Gingerbread....Can't revert back to original.

I had the same problem sooooo....I just went to settings....applications...market....unistalled the updates and then restarted my tablet. The old market was there and everything worked just fine.
New Market Update released 3.0.27 from 3.0.26 and working on GTAB (so far)
I just sideloaded the new Updated version of market. It seems to be running ok my GTAB (Running GtabComb 3.3 BL1.2)
Though its a tad spotty at times it's not Force Crashing at all as the 3.0.26 version did on this device.
One odd thing to note is: There are now 2 Market Icons in my app drawer.. one loads the stock version and the other loads the 3.0.27 version..
I've attached the file.
Moderators.. I'm not sure if this attachment is allowed..Please Advise if I should edit this post!
TYIA!
tried sideloading....same thing....force closes every 5 sec or so.....
anyone find a fix, or any idea what is causing it? works fine on my phone, is just my gtab that seems affected.

What version Market are you using? I have no issues with mine and has worked like a charm since applying this Market fix a month or so ago. I always had issues with my market until this fix. I am on Market version 2.3.6. You'll need to be rooted...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=861044
I am not sure but have you tried to fix permisions in clockwork mod or if you have ROM manager you can do it from there as well
I am on CM7 and going to Applications, Market, Uninstall Updates worked. Thanks!
I also had the same issues and uninstalled the update. Once I uninstalled, it reverted back and has not tried to update itself.
I am having the same problem!!!
I personally love the new market. Its designed more for a tablet this way, isn't it? Its nice to see my gtab is recognized as a tablet rather than some unknown android device.

Even switching ROMS didnt solve FC new marketplace
the only fix I got was to get TIBU PRO installed, (did this by uninstalling the market updates and immediately launching Market to load TIBU).
Once TIBU is installed (finally), (you may have to uninstall the market update...many many times) but once you have the original market back running on the tab launch TIBU and FREEZE Market Updater 1.0 and finally Market Feedback Agent.
Once that is done, you should be good to go.
EDIT: Dont freeze the Market, else you wont be able to launch it.
The easiest fix is to go to Settings/language and keyboards/ and the set your default language to english. Have not had a problem since I did that.

Thanks Bro! Easiest fix out there

Well I tried it yesterday and it has seemed to resolve the Market issue. I can't explain why setting the language would have this effect, but it did.

YouTube

I am using a bastardized frankenROM version of Scott's Senseless 2.0 ICS, and I just noticed that I must have deleted YouTube.apk at some point in time accidentally. So I went to the market and looked, and its not there...
I went to a web browser from a PC and went to the market and signed in and tried to send YouTube to my phone from there, but it says YouTube is not compatible with Rezound?? WTF is that about? Has anybody else come across this problem?
I guess I will just use the Honeycomb version from my transformer for now, but weird... I've never seen a Google Inc. made app not appear in the market before.

Why don't you just pull it from the ROM? The reason you're not seeing it is because you're on a Rezound with ICS. This gives the market fits with certain apps because their compatibility is listed for X version to Y version of Android. You're on Z version lol. Oh and if you want I can just post the APK.
I've never run into this problem before and every device I have is running a custom ROM...
No its ok, I have the apk... got it from the ROM like you said. I was just curious if there was an explanation because I've never seen this happen before

Yeah but there was never a huge gap like there is between ICS and GB. Think about it...going from Eclair to Froyo..small gap, some apps didn't work most apps continued to work. Froyo to GB, again some work some didn't.
The new youtube widget is ghey anyways

Google Play Market woes...

Anyone else having issues with the new Google Play Market? Literally every app I open up reads as incompatible with my device. Is this the case for anyone else? I'm currently on Vegan Froyo... is this just an issue for this ROM, or is it with all roms? Personally its becoming incredibly frustrating; many of my existing apps don't update, I'm forced to scour the dark ends of the internet for apks of paid apps I already own.
I tried the Market fix.. but that seems to have made issues worse. Any hope??

What apps fail? Give some examples so that others can
tell you if they work on their Vegan Froyo. Apparently
tapatalk works for you .
What is "ro.product.device=" in your /system/build.prop ?
A bad value/corruption there can cause incompatible messages.
I am on TNT Lite, which a Froyo distribution, and Google Play
works without any problems.
This is when an old CWM backup might have helped. Do you have any around?
My latest magic bullet for Froyo is "Fix Permissions" from CWM.
Give it a shot if all else fails.

I also am having a ton of issues with the new and "improved" google experience... the playstore will not load at all on my gtablet. I am running gtabcombover and really like the ROM... it was flawless until the market went stupid on us.
as soon as i try to open the app, i get the "accept" button but before I can even push it, the thing FC's and no matter what I cant make it even initialize. I am really hoping there is a painless and simple fix for this mess. And even more hoping that google hasnt completely cut all rooted devices out of the loop!
any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks
I'm having the same problem as the OP, except I'm using Roebeet's TnT Lite Froyo ROM. I've also tried the Market fix with no luck. Any ideas for solving the problem would be appreciated.
Every app that needs to be updated comes back with a "incompatible with your device" error. Market fix didn't make things worse for me, just didn't help much. I'll have more time for experimenting over the weekend, and, will post if I find an answer. Hopefully it's not due to Google Play seeing it as being a rooted device.
It's probably not because the device is rooted. I am running G-harmony and play works fine for me.
Google Market updated itself to the Google Play store without any problem on both VEGAn-TAB 7.1 and GtabCombOver 3.4.2. I was also able to update all of my apps as usual.
I'm using cm7 rc1 and market is hosed. I have tons of paid apps that are "incompatible" and wont update. I tried build.prop edits but nothing is working. If VeganTAB 7 is working I may switch back to it. Was using beastys rom and Google play made it so half my apps wouldn't update that's why I tried cm7.
Update:
VeganTAB 7 works great with Google play and all my apps updated.

Try this suggestion out the next time around, instead of resorting to installing a different ROM.
Google Woes 2
I have a rooted G-Tab with Calkulin’s ROM v1.1 and clemsyn 2.6.32.9 kernel. Everything was running great with no problems. Google changed to Google Play and something has happened with the authenication. Downloads fail (all of them) and the Market fix does not work.
Gtab using Flashback 10.3 Google play
Similar issues here as well, My apps are updating ok but when I go to open Google Play to search for an app it crashes/forces closes. Been searching threads and found none that give clear fixes for this. THANKS GOOGLE!!!!
@aNiMeMaN14
If you know how to edit the build.prop you could try to edit the line for the manufacturer replace what's there with Samsung just remember to make a note of what was there to start. It worked for me but I'm on the DRH ice rom you you may not see it in the overall search but in you put in the name of the app you want it should come up and allow you to download n install. REMEMBER IF YOU ARE NOT COMFORTABLE DONT DO IF YOU MAKE A MISTAKE COULD CAUSE YOU TO NVFLASH AND REBUILD FROM START HAVE BACKUP. TRY THE ONE IN THE CWM ROM.
there is a modded market available now thanks to the people here on Xda
