[Q] Signal Fix - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I posted a topic a few months ago about accidentally breaking the external antenna connector on the back of my Xperia X10, which caused me to no longer be able to get a signal.
I was told that in order to reset it so that it would connect to the network via the internal antenna, something would need to be done to the kernel.
Now that custom kernels can be loaded, can anybody tell me how I can fix my signal? if possible
Thanks

I'm not sure what the problem is really. If you have to get back to a stock rom, this might not be a bad idea, then use FlashTool and load a base band maybe the end of the 2.0 series - .52 - is the best choice, see how that goes and if it works wit the rom of your choosing. Of course the .58 baseband is the most stable and probably has the best reception.

Base Band Patch for Gingerbread roms

Use it when your baseband is 54+ and want to try out J's cm7 rom or rdannar's GB Miui rom or Arc rom.
Tested working on J016 and J017 and rdannar's GB Miui - for stock kernel only.
Do it at your own risk and it's not supported by J
Patch it with cm7bb54.zip
Restore back the original with cm7bb52.zip (if you decide to change base band)
This patch won't solve any problem that may come with the rom (such as wlod)
Note: This patch won't work on Trip's GB Miui
pls hit Thanks button if it helps you
I want to make sure I got this all correct:
1. If on bb.54+, flash cm7bb54.zip to patch/use cm7
2. If previously flashed to bb.52, flash cm7bb52.zip to go back to bb.54+
Would I have to flash each zip file every time I want to go back and forth between each rom?
Thanks cobrato!
1.correct
2. only if you decide to flash bb52 again(for any reason) and still want to use cm7 flash cm7bb52.zip
no. if you are flashing a new rom which requires bb54 and you are on bb54 then no need to flash this zip.
Can use this patch for bb.55 ?
I finally gave in and left FreeX10 to test out CM7.
It feels pretty stable but there's some issues I sense still need tweaking and I'll post after I'm done here.
QQ; what improvements have you sensed using .54 over .52, both in general and with CM7?
Personally i don't think there are any improvements. But some people just want a higher number. In fact some of the functions in .54 are broken like auto-time settings.

Not correct.....
If you are in north america .49/.52 causes many issues, especially when it comes to dropped calls , failed text messages and slow 3g+ speeds.
On .55 the failed text issue is fixed completely, I get much better call signal and faster 3g+.

Not without the new kernel, the only way it is possible is if the bootloader gets unlocked

Your usb port, or usb cable?
You can't install the kernel needed for GB without flashtool.
So if your usb port is broken, maybe look on ebay for spare parts to fix it.
If your usb cable is broken, buy a new one.
Good luck
sorry but how do i apply this patch? i'm on BB54 with a broken usb connector
i guess this might be (all steps via xrecovery)
1.- install patch
2.- install 2.3.3 rom (any rom available)
3.- install custom kernel (zKernel might be)
is this correct?
thanks in advance

Data Connection

Recently i flashed few roms i tried many to check which one suits me best.I finnaly found the one tha suits me and its cynm 7 i am pretty sure now i cant make Mobile Internet working at all while wi fi,and other seevices work correctly could it be due baseband? I am using .58 baseband. Any help is appriciated ;-) ty

I had a similar problem when reflashing an official firmware after I had used FreeX10 beta 4, I finally got my browser working again by flashing a generic 2.0.A.0.504 firmware and not updating. The baseband I have now is 2.0.46 as opposed to 2.1.54. It might be the problem but I'm in no position to say so, I only know from my experience that this solved my connection issue.
I haven't flashed another firmware over it but I'm a little bit hesitant to do so at this point. I'd rather have internet access then a newer firmware.
There is one problem i can't find that firmware anymore or link has expires or so on :/ i flashed baseband .58 and i have got my web working very well :/ so i dunno might check and reflash everything again Thanks anyway!
I've had the same problem. It's most probably due to the APN not being set up. Go to your providers website, and find APN configurations. Then go to the APN settings in the wirelles & connection settings. Create a new APN using the settings on your provider's website
I know settings my self allready it worked on previous roms... but from now on it just cant work on any rom dunno why :/
I agree, it could be a baseband mismatch. Certain roms need certain basebands (I know for example that TripNRaVeR's need bb 2.0.49 or 2.0.52, but FreeX10 (that I used to use) needs 2.1.54 or 2.1.55.
What you might wanna do is check out the Baseband Collectionhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=960527, grab them all, and try them, one at a time, until you get a match.
Don't forget to back up your phone - I didn't, and lost all my sms messages (bad me).
Read the ROM thread. CM7 is Gingerbread, all GB ROMs currently available use 49/52 BB. Dont just try them all, just use the one the instructions say.

CM7 doesn't require a baseband 58.... Try flashing some other baseband like 2.1.54
Nope :-( still none works :/ damn!

no 2g after flashing adfad666's cm 7.2 with telus p500

im guessing i cant get 2g because telus's 2g was cdma? im on the old .32 baseband and flashed that version of cm7. does anyone know where i can get just the radio or baseband for telus to flash over this rom?
this is my pay and go phone so i dont need 3g data and 2g gives me better reception and battery life so i want to be able to leave my optimus on 2g all the time.
EDIT: i just tried flashing P500-v10E-baseband.7z from this thread and have the same results
u had to change the rom, not the baseband....

From what I gathered in the abandoned thread for AdFad666's rom, future builds may only exclusively support the new baseband.
Of course, I could be wrong, since it seems like the A-series and F-series are still being updated.
In any case:

OP, did you confirm that you're on the correct baseband?
You can either throw the phone back on LGMDP (it'll display a version in the window) or hop down to a rom that has the LG hidden menu.
Also, what happened to the backup that was made when you flashed to v20G?

are basebands equal for each Cyanogen 7/9 rom build?

Hi there
I think the reason why I do not see a network or SIM card is because the baseband is empty as well as the IMEI.
I installed ICS Dynamite 4.0 and I assume that maybe the missing baseband is the reason.
I am Germany right now, does it matter what baseband I am going to use?
Interestingly when I flash back a working Cyanogen 7 rom a baseband is back.
Any tips?

which cm7 build did you flash?

Are you on the old baseband?
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda premium
being in germany or any other part of the world really shouldnt matter about baseband....v10 is old baseband, if you rooted a stock phone, than yes your on old baseband or so I was when I first got this phone....In order to get v20, you need to use LGDMP v1.5, search for Doktonor's thread on flashing with LGDMP....it's not that hard really, and applies to any v20 series (a,b,c,etc)...all you do is extract the 7z file format, open LGDMP, you'll have 4 files total in this extracted folder.....I cant remember to the T on the whole process but the thread by doktonor is with pictures and well be able to help you out....if your having a problem with mobile data and dont want to risk switching basebands, than look out for aspee's baseband fix or a funny sim fix....it's best to go ahead and flash new baseband, it's easy though....as far as your phone not showing IMEI, that's common on some CM7 based roms, even neko95's Moto Razr-UI v7 rom shows no baseband on my phone, not exactly sure why it does that but I am on new baseband (obviously, since mobile data works)

[Q] Random Shut Downs/Lost Signal Strength on GB roms

Hey mates.
The thing is: In my phone all roms running under kernel naa-14 suffer from random shut downs or from loss of signal once in a while, it doesn't happen many times but when it happens it's not good "example: you don't wanna sleep with your alarm not waking you because your phone is turned off, right?" xD.
So i was wondering: do you guys know another kernel for the most recent gb roms instead of kernel naa-14?, or if there is a rom that doesn't suffer from this shut downs/lost signal on this naa-14 kernel?.
Ps: Don't say something like: reinstall rom, go back to 2.1 and then install rom again, etc... i already did all of that.
Thanks

hey mate, I have some suggestion for you, firstly you can flash your mini with SEUS(Sony Ericsson Update Service) not with flashtool, so after you flashed with SEUS you will need to start over again for unlock BL and flashing custom ROMS or Kernels, :victory:

Mate...i think you didn't see my "Ps" xD, in my Ps i say: i already did the Go back to Stock 2.1 and reinstall everything after "kernel+rom" many many times, it doesn't work. The roms work great but one day or another it remembers to shut down or loose signal :S xD. I don't know if it is the kernel or the rom that causes this, any suggestion?

Hey...you r senior than me...but according to me your problem seems to be kernel problem as every GB rom experiences random shutdowns in your case...maybe u can try redownloading the .ftf file of kernel and then flash it again....all d best mate:good:

Yes it is more likely a kernel problem, and that's why i wanted to know if there is another kernel without this problems. I flashed this naa-kernel 14 on my computer and on my portable computer in different times, but the result is always the same because sooner or later the phone will shut down or loose signal out of nowhere. I thought about flashing a rom with stock kernel but the roms available for stock kernel all have some bugs :S.
Ps: do you think there is much difference between this phone and Sony Live With Walkman in terms of audio quality/loudness and camera?, i am tented to buy that phone and all my problems would be solved for good as i need a stable phone when i get a job xD.

it was the first rom ever that i tried, i don't remember now if it was good or not, but is this rom really more stable to use than the most recent gb roms that run on naa-14 kernel?. And does it have all the fixes "battery, camera quality, etc" that were made till now?.
I made a new thread, asking how i can port recent gb roms to work on Stock kernel, maybe it's better this way if possible.
locked you bootloader 1st.
