If you don't have a way to 're'odex easily, you're going to have to flash the sbf before you can update. Backup your apps and data using TiBu (assuming you have root) and use this method.
....aaaaand this should probably be in Q&A
oops sorry sorry i thought i was on the [Q] & [A] section when i wrote this
Ps: thanks for the help
edit: does anyone know how to re-odex atrix 4g
Hey XDA members
well i've been rooted for about 4 weeks and i fell in love but ive been warned that within "A fortnight" (There words not mine ) the gingerbread update will be released !!
the problem is i want to clean my slate and restore my phone and unroot it.
But... idk how to
so i want to
A. unroot my atrix and take off busybox
B. Backup EVERYTHING (Contacts, app list, music, etc.)
C. COMPLETELY RESTORE (Fresh out the box kind of restore) My phone

SOAK test has not started yet. Best to get your info from Motorola Atrix official forums.
A & C. You can do so by flashing back to 4.1.26, 4.1.57, or 4.1.83 full sbf. All your answers for this are in the dev forum. If you are on AT&T you can go here for guide.
B. Backup your contacts to Google. Backup your apps with TiBu. Backup your music to your external SDCARD. Anything you want to manually backup from your internal SDCARD, just copy and paste over to your computer.

Well here's the link for bootstrap http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1347767 can't really help you past that as I haven't flashed any custom ROM yet.
Hi guys, I'll be receiving a brand new European version of the Atrix next week. As far as I have understood, there are no fruitcakes of it, so obviously I'd be willing to add something usable for everyone before I start using all the great stuff that other people have made
Do I understand correctly that after rooting & unlocking my bootloader I just get ROM Factory from the Market (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1382576) and get the Fruitcake of my system with "one click"? And then send it to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1163009 so he can add it to the fruitcake topic?
Also (sorry I'm new here ) could somebody tell me what the difference actually is between a fruitcake and a nandroid backup? Both seem to make a complete image of the phone?

My opinion: fruitcake is a sterile operating system image. Nandroid is a rom backup that includes all your personal settings, data, etc.
