Fixing Non-working FM Radio in Floyo v4 - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

I'll like to share how I fixed my non working FM radio for Owain's Floyo V4 on my X10 Mini Pro. As I do not have enough post count to contribute on the development section, I'll need to post here instead.
Problem:
FM Radio freezes at "Searching for channels" screen.
Solution:
1) Using Titanium backup, wipe all data for FM Radio app and uninstall it.
2) Extract Radio.apk from Owain's Floyo zip file (its found in /system/app folder of the zip file).
3) Copy the Radio.apk file to SD-card and use Root Explorer to move it to /system/app of your phone (Or you can also use ADB to do this if you know how).
4) Install the Radio.apk file using Root Explorer or ADB from the /system/app folder of your phone.
5) The FM Radio should now be working properly. In the event that it is playing through the speakers instead of headphones, press the volume button a few times and then quit the app. Replug in your headphones before starting the app again. It should be working properly now

For me is working, but that headphones trick rly works
Did you make full wipe before install rom?

I'm glad it was able to help solve your problem with the radio too
I did wipe my phone completely off all data before installing Floyo but somehow the FM radio issue still affected me. Someone else who was experiencing this problem suggested wiping the phone and reinstalling several times until the radio works but it seems like a drastic measure for fixing a radio problem...

Working Adobe Flash player 10.1 for ARMv6 (ARM 11)

I've just tested it on my X10-mini CM6-1.0.2, and AFTER a reboot, it work perfectly!
source:
http://androidcampus.blogspot.com/2011/07/app-working-adobe-flash-player-for.html
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1155071
It's working, but sometimes it fc (miniclip.com --> first game) on MiniCM7-2.0.3
impressive. it's really a good new.
it works on MiniCM7 (i'm using 2.3.4 Gingerbread Remix10 XL v3.3)
thank
Is it a stand alone player or just a browser plugin??
I'm on MiniCM 1.0.2 installed your posted adobe flash player and a swf player apk, but cannot run a swf file.. so what did I do wrong??
you should try Gingerbread because it won't work on Froyo
Just installed on MiniCM 6 v1.0.1 (Froyo) and it's working
Just install the apk and reboot phone, no need to install anything else
The only problem: not working with opera mini
Worked for me, but weighs a lot and lock the navigation! Uninstalled!
Using MiniCM7 2.0.3.
Works fine as a basic browser plug in (stock or skyfire). Nice to see.
Games (mini-clip) and video crash. Skyfire handles video fine on its own anyway.
Doesn't work by me on stock, Skyfire and Dolphin Mini browsers - sites with flash videos on them either only load and get stuck on loading, or the Dolphin browser even restarts itself when I try to play video on it.
I'm running it on Xperia X10 Mini with CM6-1.0.2 on it.
Nice attempt, but it seems there is a lot of work to make it working on ArmV6!
Can't get it to works on my phone..
But these files are work: http://www.4shared.com/folder/KzLl7sQT/Flash_keur_x10_mini.html
It's pumakkiotto's methode:
- put the lib files in system/lib, all chmod 644
- install the apk
- restart, and now you have stand-alone flash player

Hi moedjs,
Do we need to copy everything?
- system/lib/libflashlite_jni.so (644)
- system/lib/libflashlitepackage.so (644)
- system/lib/libflashliteplugin.so (644)
- system/app/FlashPlugin.apk (644)
- system/app/FlashSVGPlayer.apk (644)
Thanks
Sry for the stupid question, guys, but what's that 644? Number of permissions or what? And when it is permissions, how do we give them in Root Explorer?
Thanks for the info and for sharing the files!
PS: DanielFran, nope, u need to copy only the lib files, the .apk files are installation files, that should be opened in the installation manager.
Half works, it runs on my Mini (MiniCM7 2.0.3) but it tends to cause reboots.

644 permissions is the most basic ones you'll ever come across. It means RW, R, R ( Read-Write, Read, Read), like this:
XXO
XOO
XOO
Where the X is a marked/ticked box.
I've tested with CineX (Streaming for TV-Shows, based on FlowPlayer). And sometimes a stream starts. But i'ts very unstable and slow.
But a great progress so far!
moedjs, that player also doesn't work by me on X10 Mini CM6! Sites with flash video content say I need flash player to view the movie.
Nice to hear that
Working on minicm 6! yeay!

Yeah, definitely! If the lack of the warning message in sites with video content "U need flash player to play video" can be called "working", the constantly crushing browser while loading the video says NOT WORKING AT ALL!!!

Dsp manager fix! (For deodexed+Odexed) Rom's

Ok as many of you know DSP Manager has some "bug" wich causes it to crash when you installed latest CM7 6.5.8
When you go to either headset or speaker and you press Equalizer enabled, and choose any of the "examples from there" it will cause the DSP Manager to crash, and you can wipe data and cache however this will NOT fix the Force Close Issue!
A Simple But Detailed Instruction how to fix this is below!
(Turducken) Posted on how to fix this on odexed ROM's and it worked, he also provided some audio fix! Thanks!
(Deodexed ROM's)
However there is a easy way to fix that, and i know u want to know.
1.st open up ANY app that can be used to uninstall system apps
2.nd uninstall the app,
3.rd reboot
4.th use any root app that has acess to your system copy the app to system/app
5.th set the Permission's to the X stands for the bock/checkmark and o for an empty box!
Owner X X O
Group X O O
Others X O O
After you set this permission, to be sure that nothing will change, set the phone to r/o and exit the app
Now reboot your phone and enjoy a fully working DSP Manager!

How I fixed it:
(Odexed rom's!)
uninstalled included DSPMangager.apk and .odex from system/app
installed deodex version of DSPManager.apk from 6.5.7 to system/app (apply proper permissions)
removed all libs in the system/lib/soundfx folder
replaced soundfx libs with ones from
One Major Audio Effects Stutter/Noise Issue Solved.
This returns everything to the way it was in 6.5.7 with the applied fix.
I've had no problems since doing this, has anyone else tried this?
I included the deodex'd DSPManger.apk

ah sorry, this is for deodexed rom =) (if you got deodexed uninstall app and do as this procedure!)
also this was to fix the Force close, not any shutter noice

you didnt thought i would take all credits by my own did ya
screw credits, i want to make our phone to what we want and fully functionable*
(like not as asus tablet) the sound is coming from one speaker "right one" only way to fix this atm is to root it, and i can not root mine as mine is newer verision and they changed "crypt key verision"
and asus would probably not fix this stuff, thats sad, because audio is horrible on speaker :/
be happy that we can get this fixes for our phone's
I got it working perfectly for my coolpad quattro 4g.
Seeing how my phone is a Metro PCS prepaid handset, I had CM7 on my old Metro PCS Optimus M and I never wiped that phone. I left it as is, it ran perfect for 2 years with CM7 so I never changed it. I went in and took out the DSPManager.apk from System\App and the 3 files from System\lib\soundfx copied them to my other phone. Backed up all my original files first of course. Installed the 3 files into System\lib\soundfx and the DSPManager.apk into my System\app folder, then installed the DSPManager.apk from my sd card onto the phone memory. So for anyone out there using Metro Handsets this might be a fix. Files can be downloaded from mikesdragonpages.homestead.com/files/DSPMetro.zip :good::good:

[Solved] FM Radio in Liberty ROM

I originally posted this wondering if anyone had success installing the Stock Blur FM Radio on top of Liberty (or another ROM for that matter).
I finally got it working by pushing 6 files to various locations in the system folder and setting their permissions respectively. I originally had some trouble because several of the files already existed, and I left them as-is. I found that I had to overwrite all the files with newer ones (which I got from Eclipse 1.2).
If anyone else is interested in installing the FM Radio, I have made and attached two update.zip files that can be flashed from BSR. You only need one, so just choose the one you are most comfortable with.
1) FMRadio-update_system.zip
This will install the FM radio to your /system/app folder. (The app should show up in your app drawer automatically)
2) FMRadio-update_user.zip
This will install the FM radio to your /data/app folder. But the app may not show up in your app drawer automatically. You might have to use use a file browser to run/install the file "com.motorola.motofmradio.apk" in the /data/app folder.
Alternatively, if you want to place all the files manually, you can download either zip and put the included files in the following locations (required permissions are in bold)
/data/app/com.motorola.motofmradio.apk rw-r-r
/system/app/FMRadioService.apk rw-r-r
/system/bin/fmradioserver rwx-rx-rx
/system/lib/libFMRadio.so rw-r-r
/system/lib/libfmradioplayer.so rw-r-r
/system/lib/libfmradio_jni.so rw-r-r
Special thanks to nitroglycerine33 for the files. They all came from Eclipse 1.2
What's FM radio?
The Droid X2 has built-in hardware for an FM Radio. The stock ROM came with an app that let's you access the radio. This is really useful when you want to listen to live music (or NPR etc) and you don't have good 3G or wifi service.
There are no apps on the Market that work with the specific chipset in our phones, so the functionality of the stock moto software cannot be replaced by another app.
ignore this
I was also trying to get FM radio to work with liberty.
I downloaded spirit FM radio from market and.it works.
U have to go into settings and choose one.of the.Motorola hardware for it to work right but it does work after u change the settings...
---------- Post added at 01:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:25 PM ----------
Only thing is I haven't been able.to figure out.how to adjust volume...
But it does work...open spirit FM...press menu..settings...audio settings...method...choose.one.of the.Motorola ones...best.I can do...seems to turn on.Bluetooth for some reason...
Thanks ash. I did try Spirit radio, but didn't get it to work. I didn't realize there were hardware settings. Maybe I'll try it again now that you told me how.
Anyway, if you want the Stock FM Radio, you can probably follow the solution I posted above. Let me know which radio you think is better, and if you try my fix, let me know if it worked.
Thanks!

Works with Molten 2.1 too.
Your zip works with Motlen 2.1 too. Thanks again!
You rock. Thanks for bringing back my radio
Has anyone had any luck getting these files to work in Molten v2? I get a parse error when trying to install. If I open them as a zip file and extract the APK's and install the FM radio icon is installed but when opening the app it either hangs or force closes constantly.

The zip worked for me with Molten 2.2.
How are you trying to install the zip?
You say tried to extract the apk from the zip. If you do that you need to put the apk in /system/app and you will also need to extract the library files from the zip and put them in /system/lib. Then make sure you set the permissions that same as the other files in those directories.

You need to use the Boot-Strap-Recovery (BSR) by Koush to install the zip. (i.e. Not the default moto recovery). If you are already using BSR, then perhaps you can re-download the zip file and try again.
BTW, These zips should work (in theory) with any current ROM on the X2, because the only custom recovery we have so far is BSR, and the updater script in the zip IS compatible with installation via BSR. Also, I doubt there are any ROMs that use different system, lib, and app folders than the ones these files are installed into. So there should be no reason I can think of that this fix wouldn't work on any of the current ROMs.
I've personally tested it on Liberty, hedwig has had success on molton (thanks for testing and reporting, hedwig), and it obviously isn't necessary at this point on Eclipse. Anyone should feel free to post their results with other ROMs.

It really is easier to just use the update.zip if you can get it to work
Hi all, I may be talking out of my hat but in my case I have (3, maybe 4 times so far) successfully installed the stock FM app using TB.
Before wiping and installing a new ROM I make a TB backup of both:
FM Radio 2.3.4
FMRadioService 2.3.4
And I simply restore both of these after my new ROM is up and running. Currently I have this working on Molten 2.1

Thanks for the info. It's nice to know that works on Molten.
Originally I tried to install just those two files (taken from Eclipse) on top of a Liberty install, and it didn't work. I assume it was because the lib and bin files from Liberty were not compatible with the apks from Eclipse for some reason (digital signature etc?). But perhaps that incompatibility is not an issue in Molten. Whatever the case, I certainly advocate using the simplest and easiest method possible to install the radio. If you can get away with using TB, that's great. The update.zip file is just a good, sure method that should work on any ROM.
I hope this isn't too late of a reply but I wanted to report on the above.
I have just installed liberty 3 and I used titanium backup to install the radio just as I did with molten 2.1.
It is working perfectly.
I will say that my backups are from the 2.3.4 SBF. I cannot say if backing the files from eclipse or anywhere else would work.

I don't kow much about miui (never tried it) and I'm not too clear on why you're missing that fm app (you've uninstalled it by mistake?) but ...
Just install and use 7-zip on your computer and right click on the miui rom zip and choose: 7-Zip__Open archive (not extract) and find the fmradio apk (in /system/app?) click on it and drag it to your desktop.
Or simply re-install the rom, wipe cache and dalvik cache (without wiping data).
Edit:
Here, I've attached a FM radio apk that I've found in my gf's Blade CM7 rom. It's not the greatest as it doesn't work on the phone speaker, but I believe that it comes from miui. Place it in system/app and don't forget to set its permissions and ownership properly and reboot afterwards.

[Q] Some problem about cm10 by WinSuk

problems:
1. trackballwake
I execute this command through adb shell/terminal, reboot, didn't work, finally I found that curcial-oj.idc became empty. Then I used root explorer to edit this file but always empty. I quit, and reflash rom with fix permission. Set the value by text edit.
2. Music&Gallery can not recognise files
Apollo and Google Music Player can not recognise the media files in sdcard, gallery either. Sdcard was partitioned by CWK 5, ext 2G,swap 0mb or 32mb(try several times). I even use fix permission. But these didn't work. BTW, CM10 can recognise the correct size in "setting -> storage" but apollo shows empty list.
root explorer -> into music dir-> open a .mp3 file
-- use apollo -> show error
-- use google music player-> play it normal.but this player cannot scan files in sdcard either.
Then I found that. If I transfer files by USB storage mass. The .mp3 files cannot be fount. So I try assistant programs like 'wandoujia' (-- wandoujia.com can download this ,which can transfer files through ftp protocal) ,and the media files show up.
list:
1) format sdcard or partition. didn't work.
2) fix permission. didn't work
3) double wipe and reflash the rom. didn't work
4) use other assistant program. work but transfer very slow
3.setting -> storage -> [menu -> usb connections] : other types can crash the setting.
spent much time in p2. other feathers had no time to try.
by WinSuk--------
1. Make sure you are on the 1.02 bootloader (included in the Froyo RUU) & S-OFF.
2. Try deleting the Android/data/com.cooliris.media folder. If you have too many mp3s in one folder, that can cause it too
--------
1. It's already 1.02 and S-OFF. I try again this noon and trackballwake work. Maybe it's because the permission.
2. There's no such folder. But perhaps can workaround in this way: Flash CM9, open Apollo and Galery3D, then flash CM10 without double wipe after they reload the resources.
I had restore the files through wandoujia and have no time to try this way. Someone who has this problem could do sth like that. And I hope WinSuk can find out the reason. It seems so many people who use Android 4.1 have this problem.

i'm not sure what is causing the issue, but i can say that i did this:
- full wipe of caches, /system/, /data/, /sd-ext/, etc. (but not normal SD partition)
- install winsuk CM10 alpha 4 from clockworkmod
- boot into CM10, reboot into recovery
- install winsuk's small gapps
- boot into CM10
and everything seemed to work great. apollo reads my MP3s fine (i have a fair amount, maybe 800+ in one folder?), etc. they are in /sdcard/media/Music/ i believe.
and since i can't post on the dev forums just yet, just wanted to say a big thank you to winsuk and munjeni!

I've tried this way. It didn't work -.-
And I found something just now. The folder /storage should be set permission 666 or sth to allow apps for full accessing. Now I do set 666 and clear Apollo&Google Music Player datas and restart both apps. Then they found out the MP3s~~~
BTW. There's another problem. I'm chinese, and it cannot use chinese names' pinyin spelling to locate the contacts in dial pannel. Then I found a Contacts.apk and ext.jar to replace the files under /system/app/ & /system/framework/ , finally resolve that.
