I've used multiple Busybox versions over many ROM releases. How do I install Busybox for Titanium Backup? I want to make sure that I have the right version for CM7. Thanks.

That worked. Thanks!

So I have been putting off asking this question and have searched everywhere.
I am currently running a Rooted 2.1 eris with the Fresh 2.1.1 rom on it and absolutely love it. I was just proud of myself for doing this......took following a few different sets of instructions get to the point that I could even load Fresh but eventually got it.
I started over and found and reloaded all the apps I had downloaded before from the market. My question is with all the "Recovery Images" and NAND backup talk (I have both) is there a way for me to have skipped downloading each app again once I Flashed the new rom? I would like to play with a few other roms but don't want to have to find and reload every app again from the market.
Thanks in advance to everyone on these forums. I learn something enw everyday! Wish I had the patience and knowledge to create my own ROM.
when they (ECLIPS3 and Jamezelle) get it fixed, you can use this.
until then there are some adb commands, lets see...
to backup apps
mkdir /sdcard/appbackup/
cp /data/app/* /sdcard/appbackup/
to restore apps
cp /sdcard/appbackup/* /data/app/
reboot phone
I use titanium backup. The donate version will restore all of your apps automatically.

Excellent, I have titanium backup so will give that a shot!
Both these Apps won't work on my Photon (even thou I am Rooted, verified by Root Check, even BusyBox is installed). My Backup Pro will Backup Apps BUT not Data. Titanium Pro w/licenses will Not work at all.
From what I understand it's a ROM/Kernel thing (worked on my EVO with Myn's Warm 2.2 then Synergy). Any workarounds? Thanks.
Titanium has been working for me.
Titanium works for me too.
Restored using TB and just made a successful backup of both apps and system. Works just as it did on my ogEVO.

What kind of error did you get when running Titanium Backup?
Did you forget to allow root access in superuser for TB?
I would try these 2 things:
1. download busybox installer from market then re-install busybox
2. click on problem in TB and download busybox from TB itself.
Mine is working fine without issue.
Working fine with mine and with the latest sprint MR
I am cool now. Just had to uninstall and reinastall Titanium and My Back up Pro(s). Then downloaded BusyBox. I have already made backups using both. Thanks for the replies
hi there,
I just searched the forum and couldn't find something...
is it possible to backup my existing stock-swype (for example as .apk) so that I can use it later on with e.g. CM7...?
I know that there's a swype beta, but this has an expiration date and I would like to continue to use my stock swype e.g. in CM7...
thank you very much...
Use something like Titanium Backup (IF YOU ARE ROOTED) and you can backup System apps.

ah, okay... didn't know, that swype easily is just a system-app. but that's nice.
so when I back it up via Titanium Backup, will I get an .apk, which I can use to install swype e.g. in CM7? will it work there?
If you back it up with Titanium you can restore it to any ROM you are using. Just restore the app and not the settings.
Other way is to go into system/app and copy the swype app and save it somewhere then you can install it by placing it in system/app of your new ROM and rebooting.

sounds promising! thank you!
On a side note titanium backup will most likely create a zip with your swipe apk in it if I remember correctly.

Getting Swype to work with some roms can be a pain in the arse. I recommend SlideIt from Market if you come across a rom which doesn't work with Swype easily. I've tested this with 4 different roms & it works perfectly with each, no dramas with install, no FC's. $6 well spent.

Why not the settings?
How do you generally know to restore with or without the settings?
Hi,
I installed this custom stock rom on my TF300 and it's fantastic.
[ROM] ASUS ICS HYDRO 4.4-(8/10)-TF300/TF300tg-Super Fast!! MANY TRY BUT NON COMPARE
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1750861
It's rooted with busybox and SU permissions and works fine in most apps that require root. The only issue is that Titanium Backup uses it's own inbuilt version of busybox and states I don't have root.
Can I do anything about this rather apart from download an alternative backup app? Titanium is great and also gets rid of bloatware but is useless unless I can trick it into using external busybox SU permissions.
Any help would be appreciated.

You could try installing the version of busybox that TB prompts you to install when it says it can't find busybox. Alternately you could try installing a different version of busybox altogether. If those don't work I would recommend you try My Backup Root or the paid version My Backup Pro. My only word of caution with My Backup (Not sure they fixed it since the last time I used it) is that when it went to restore my music playlists it messed them up. So if that's something that is important to you then I would look into a different app for backing up music playlists.
I am having apps that were installed using their APKs. And they are backed up by Titanium Backup Pro. Now if any of that apps gets a newer version and I need to install it by uninstalling the prev version first, will I be able to get the data restored back using Titanium? My confusion is whenever I uninstall an app will Titanium make its backup vanished as well?

why would you need to uninstall previous version if you are getting it from Play Store?

No need for any backup unless you are doing factory reset.....Just install the new version and replace the old version if it prompts. You will not loose any data.

Had it done. Generally when a newer APK (Hopefully people in here know why me is using APKs with Google Play as well) of an app comes out if I click on the install button it just asks for permission to replace it. But there are some that mess it up. That is why I have to uninstall them first and then install the newer version APK. I have seen if I restore back the data, it is just fine
No issues.
Thanks.
