Thunderbolt on Metro??? - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just got the thunderbolt, i was wondering is there anyway that the thunderbolt can go on metro?? Is there a tutorial because some people i called said they can do it, but for a ridiculous fee. Can anyone help??

Chances are you could for voice. Whether or not data/sms/mms would work, I can't say, but I wouldn't bet any money on it.

I called around, and they said that they could do it. And im just wondering how can i flash it because out of all the phones i flashed, this phone is the HARDEST

They have a 4g android phone. Maybe you can port the room from that device or certain parts of rom. That's when aosp is working. I'm just guessing tho.

is there anyway i can get at talk and text to work at least???

You need a sim card, because this phone can't be flashed, its all on the sim

Problem: Constant roaming issue

So a friend of mine just got a hold of a droid eris because her droid busted and it is having issues with constantly being in roaming on sprints network.
Is this a common issue, is there any fix for it? verizon rep had no idea and couldn't help.
Did you have her try *228?
Sent from my DROID2 using XDA App
yea that was the first thing i told her to try, it didn't work. From what she said it sounds like it didn't even go through as a working working.
I don't know what else to try... factory reset?
If you haven't rooted that phone for them you need to, and load the Xtsense ROM. It makes that phone rock pretty good.
I loaded it on for my wife (she wanted to keep the Sense options and look). It has yet to lag doing anything.
Good luck

This fascinate is not for the weak !

I had to break down and try and pay someone with experience and a windows computer to try and get the red recovery and some roms on the gf's fascinate since my mac failed to even recognize it.
2 different shops that advertised rooting for the fascinate wouldn't even touch it! This 9 year old indian boy troubleshooted it and figured that the phone had issues with the sd card and unrooted it so she could send it in for a replacement. There is no longer root, super user, or busy box on it, but is there anything else I need to remove before sending it back to verizon?
Also, is there anyone here in the san diego area who would be willing to work with me when she gets the new one? She absolutely abhors the stock rom.

Funny thing is that it is nearly impossible to perma-brick this phone.
You should look into Heimdall for the Mac. Or come into the IRC...I'm sure we could walk you through the process...it isn't terribly complex.

Cricket

Has anyone ever flashed the thunderbolt to cricket? I would prefer to stick with vzw but i was unemployed for a short time and couldn't pay my bill and lost service. So i been looking to see if i could flash to cricket and start using it again. Unless anyone knows if vzw will work with you to get yer phone service back on after your bill has gone to collections....
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda premium
if you pay off the bill, then verizon will free up the esn on the phone. If they give you another contract or not might be a different story.
I have my tbolt flashed to cricket, send me a message with your email, and I will pass it along to my friend who flashed mine
I'm not too worried about keeping the number but i would like a hand switching to cricket!

[Q] Activating a Thunderbolt on Alltel

I have tried a few times getting this answered, but never actually got an answer. I'm on an Alltel Smart plan, vzw has not engulfed the Alltel stores in our area. I've seen in posts that other members have gotten them to work on other networks, Alltel included, and I was just wondering how the whole process works? I've tried just switching it out with my current plan. The calls and text work, but not the data. Do I have to call vzw to unlock the sim card and that's all, or is there something more to it? I've looked and looked, and all I see is that it's possible, but not how to do it exactly. You can tell me it's possible to travel to the moon, but until you tell me how to build a rocket, I will never get there.
I don't think the data will work with alltel.
You can give Alltel a call and see what they say
The posts here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1115840 suggest that it is possible, which I couldn't see why they wouldn't since the CDMA should still work, but I tried it once before and got nothing. I'm just curious if unlocking the SIM card would do it, or what I do have to do to get it to work.
I'm on an Alltel plan and I had no trouble activating the thunderbolt on my plan.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
Did you have data working on it? What did you do to get it working? Was it unlocked, or did that not matter since the SIM is only used by the 4G?
I'm going to have to go in extra early to work and phone it in, since my current phone is dead, and I want to have as much info as possible going into it.
Everything works just fine. The plan has nothing to do with the service you get from your phone. When Verizon bought Alltel they bought their towers as well so everything that worked with Alltel was transferred to Verizon.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
Tried phoning it in, to no avail. They asked for the MEID number. I thought it was the same as the EMEI number but wasn't sure so I played dumb. Got me nowhere since they couldn't find the model number of the TBolt in their system. And since the Desire's Number starts off A100 and the TBolt's starts off HT12, I can't pass it off as a desire? And they seem to be rather persistent on it being an alltel phone...
If your trying to activate this on at&t it will never work. The radio is a totally different band than the Verizon network.

Thanks for clearing that up. I had no idea..... The desire sim will not work in the t bolt. I don't see how the t bolt could ever work on Alltel without being able to activate it with a sim in it. Call Verizon and talk to them about it. They should be able to transfer your account to Verizon no problem and send you a sim so you can activate the phone.

Alltel, which you have verified was working on Alltel. They just keep giving me the runaround on activating it since it's not an Alltel phone.

The desire does not have a sim since it is only 3g capable.
You said earlier that you had your tbolt working on your alltel plan.
I don't want to switch to verizon.
Don't you love how people state that they have done something and do not provide a link or info to backup what they said could be done? People, if you say that you got something to work where others have not. Use a little common courtesy and provide some info. Otherwise you are either misleading or teasing some one for no good reason at all.

All i did was call Verizon and had my plan from Alltel grandfathered over. How freaking hard is that to do? Is it that hard that a guide is really necessary? He will need a sim for his t bolt and the only way to get one is to have Verizon give him one.

You nor anyone ever said that you grandfathered over to vzw. It is not my plan, it is my parents and as they prefer to stay with alltel since they are cheaper, I don't really have that option.
As the post title says, I need to get the phone ACTIVATED on alltel, not grandfathered into a new plan. I've had the phone and text working on it before, I just needed assistance on getting the data to work on it if possible.
Posts here on the boards state that there are tbolts activated on alltel, but none state HOW. And since there is a sim card involved, that is all I'm trying to figure out. Is it possible as others' posts' suggest, or am I just sol until my contract expires in a few months?
I couldn't get the t bolt to activate without the sim. It will show a no sim error on the lockscreen and won't let data through. That is at least what I experienced. I would try talking to reps on Verizon and see what you can do because I bet if you get the right person on the line they will figure something out.

Thank you. If I can get data to work, it is preferable, and since I was told in the first link I posted that a lot of members here had it, I thought I would try it. But I haven't gotten anywhere with anyone .
That link doesn't seem to work, it's error'ing out on me. I guess I'll just have to settle for call and text for awhile. Thanks tho, and sorry if I came off a bit harsh.
No big deal. The only way I've seen ( I have googled his by the way) is by getting your plan grandfathered over to Verizon.
You can't do everything without the sim in a t bolt.

Help fix 4G :(

Im going to explain this problem in a depth as i can.
I am s-off'd via jtagged, rooted and have twp recovery. I am on newest radio running NOS M7 v2.0.3
I can only connect to 3G for some reason with it reading eHRPD.
i do not know if it was reading this before i started the process of rooting since i never turn the phone completely on once i got it back.
So after some reading and advice i downloaded LTE on off to force 4G
It worked but at the cost of losing my mobile network causing me to not be able to make calls or send out text but i have 4G i can get on the internet.
Atm i am plagued with having 3G and service or using 4G w/o service... and this is a problem.
Also while on 4G it reads RSRP if that helps.
Idk if this is a hardware problem from me getting my device jtagged (which would suck since that means im stuck with it) or if it can be fixed.
Any suggestions would be highly appreciated since im getting annoyed

What carrier are you on?
In any case, I would RUU back to stock, including kernel, and see if I get 4G. Make sure 4G is available in your area....?
Look in mobile connection make sure you have 4g enabled...

I had the same problem when I got my phone back. Took it back to Verizon and got a new phone. I tried everything and nothing worked. It is like something happened to the radio. Tried to flash a new one nothing. Still haven't heard back from mtv on trying to get a refund.

Sigh thats something i wanna avoid so Ill just have to stay stuck until moonshine comes out. I really like sense 5 and I don't wanna go back to 4+... Then I'll get a replacement I guess.
As far as RUU to stock and seeing if I was on LTE I already did all that. I was almost looking into build.props but I assumed that wouldnt work either. So guess I'm just stuck on 3G unless it randomly wanna come back which I doubt unless somebody comes up with a solution besides just getting a replacement.

I have the same issue that you are having. I am glad I was not the only person to have this happen I am going to put my phone back to being S-On and locked with the factory ROM and then head to Verizon to get a new SIM card.

That's more than likely not necessary if ur just getting a new SIM card. U shouldn't have an issue even if ur s off and unlocked. SIM cards r free.

Correct they are free, but the guy I tend to see at the Verizon store always seems to launch that hboot screen everytime I go in there. He did when I had the SIM card swapped earlier in the year as it would disconnect from my network several times a day. So I just want to be on the safe side.
I had my SIM card replaced twice on my resound and both times went to the store without relocking the bootloader or anything. Didn't have any issues. They programmed the new card and I was on my merry way. Maybe call em first and without giving any of ur account information ask if u can get a new SIM card if uv rooted ur phone. It would suck to go thru that process if it's not necessary but I can certainly understand the better safe than sorry approach. The phone call would definitely be worth the time though imo.

Just go in and ask for a new sim card. No need to waste your time relocking and s-on'ing your phone.

So I got the issue resolved without a new SIM card. So here is a combo of things I did to resolved the issue. I have everything in the link below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2338810
I think it was resolved after I flashed my radio and then I went back to stock just in case I have any more issues in the next week. As if I do I will go back to the Verizon store and swap out my phone. But I'd rather be S-ON in case that happens and be that way for a bit. Plus I wanted to test the S-ON for future purposes of in case I needed to get back there I knew how to.
