Tb/ do frozen apps update? - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I still see apps in market that are frozen. If a update appears for a frozen app, do I need to defrost before updating it?

i dont think so. I usually keep maps frozen so it's not running. That app updates rather frequently and it defrosts itself and becomes active once updated.
There is an option in TiB though, not sure if it's only in pro or not, that keeps apps from showing up in the market to update if you freeze it

[Q] System update

After hacking the phone to run webtop without the docks, I was just going about my phone and was curious about the "System updates" button and got this:
Social Networking account required
"com.android.setttings.deviceinfo.CheckUpdate" is not available without a social networking account. To create a new account, click "Setup" button
When I click the setup button, nothing happens. Did I mess up one of the files during the process of hacking my phone, because before attempting the webtop hack, when I still had root and adeo on, I did not get this message.
Account syncing: my facebook account will not sync with the contacts on my phone. The social networking app and widget is not running properly for the same reason as from the message given above ^^.
Can someone help me with this? Thanks
Did you use Titanium Backip to freeze apps. This is a symptom of freezing apps. To get this to work unfreeze all your apps and make sure the MotoBlur account is syncing.
I didn't use titanium backup to freeze any of the apps. I'm still kind of new to android and so I might need some guidance in more simpler terms
Did you create a blur account?
yes and it was already linked when I received my unit on the 21st
would it be reasonable to attempt a factory reset, even though I rooted it and installed ADEO?

What exactly does freezing do? I can't seem to find a answer on the net. Can one manually "defrost" a frozen app?

I think so, I'm pretty sure TiBu just adds a ".bak" to the application because when you freeze something it's still in your app drawer until you restart your phone vs when it's uninstalled its gone instantly. The benifit to freezing vs uninstalling is if you freeze the wrong thing or want it back it's still there, but if you uninstall it it's gone and you'd need to ask someone else for it or something.
anyone solved this error? I also got the error today
Is your phone deodexed? That could be the problem maybe.

[Q] Does freezing apps bloat your system?

Got a question.
When you freeze apps, all you do is add '_fro' at the end of a file.
e.g. 'Gallery.apk' will become 'Gallery.apk_fro' when frozen.
My question is that when you freeze an app, does the system still load it? Or will my phone be faster if I totally remove the .apk?
Thanks!
Freezing will help your system because the frozen app will not launch, however it will still be present in your system which means it will still take the memory in the rom. So freezing apps is the first thing you need to do before deciding to completely remove or uninstall such app.
Cheers

[Q] Cant Freeze any Verizon apps with OTA update

Hey all,
After doing the OTA update from verizon for droid razr max none of the apps that I could previously freeze/uninstall during the first leak can be frozen now. These include apps like mog video surf etc. I wanted to give out a heads up. Also, if anyone has any info on how to resume freezing the apps please let me know
if you go to manage apps, all, then pick the app you want to freeze, then tap uninstall updates, then you have the option to disable the app. i think this is as good a freezing. all of you disabled apps will be at the bottom of the all apps list. hope this helps.

[Q] App freeze with Titanium Backup

Hi guys.
Sorry if this post is going to annoy some devs.
Lately I've frozen some annoying Samsung apps and services from my phone with the aid of titanium backup.
However, after freezing and a restart, I always want to confirm by going into SETTINGS > APPLICATIONS.
In there when I scroll down, I see the disabled apps but then when I open them, they still have an option for "FORCE CLOSE"
The question now is does this mean that they are still running in the background in some sort of way or something else.
I seem to be confused thinking freezing them will not only make their icons dissapear but stop them from ever running.
Thanks.

freezing will have disabled them, it's just Samsung not recognizing that, might be worth letting the titanium team know about this

System Rom memoery maxxed out

My gf's xt912 on 4.1.2 has been rooted running stock. She just wanted to adblock and be able to bu her data w/TiBu. She been noticing the phone lagging lately. No new apps installed and I ck'd for apps running in bk ground. I did notice via TiBu her system Rom 667 MB (20.1 MB free). Could this be the reason for the lag?
Thanks for the help

Have you checked to see how many apps she has running at startup? My girlfriend had the same problem on her droid4, lagging and battery wasn't the best. When she had me checked it out she had 30 or 40 apps/games she had downloaded once to chekc out, then never touched them again, and most of them were running at startup in the background. In other words apps she didn't care about were always on, draining her battery and bogging down her processor
Hope this helps
She does have a couple of apps she rarely uses. I didn't ck for any that start up, just running in the bk ground constantly. Where do I check for start up apps?
Thanks

Go to apps in the setting then check currently running apps. this will show all the apps that are currently running on the phone, and you will notice there are apps on there that were not started up but ARE running in the background. you will have to use common sense in determining what apps you feel should be running and shouldn't.
A app that I like to use is addons detector. this app scans all the permissions of games and apps in your phone and allows you to check out what apps are requesting what permissions on a per permission basis. It will also list apps bsed on what type of mobile ad company an app is using (admob, google etc.) some are more intrusive than others or allow malware.
Having tiBu, if there are particular apps she doesn't use much, but does like them being handy when she does decide to use them, and they having intrusive permsissions (start at boot, start, when screen is unlocked etc, etc.) She can freeze them with TiBu.
She can also check out greenify, which does a pretty good job at hibernating apps that aren't in use to they point they are almost frozen, but cuts out a couple of steps.
Another app you could check out is SDmaid, this could help you in finding cached data in apps and system, that might be bogging the processor down.
