So yea as title says I want to factory default restore from clockmod then flash 351 Recovery. Then flash 351. Is that ok (I started on 318)?
Cheers
Yes it should work.
Just make sure you do a nandroid backup in case it doesn't work out. If you run into a problem, simply flash streak mod recovery and do a nandroid restore and you'll be back to where you were before you did anything.
if it doesn't work from the 351 recovery, it definitely should work with the recovery from the previous 00 rom.

I went straight from 318 to 351 the other day, and works a treat :-D
Thanks for your helpful responses. I'll follow as told above... Cheers
Now all I need to do is find a use for it ever since I got Nexus S don't seem to use as much.... Sad good Device...
Anyway Thanks Guys!!!!

but i can't figure out which is the right method i need to use...
i didn't use Odin, i used OneclickRoot and Rom manager to install clockwork recovery and the custom rom (nerov3)
so can anyone give me a step by step process to how to proceed w/ the back to stock
i would really appreciate it

Just read up on the ODIN.. when you go back to stock, you'll be unrooted automatically

I just want to say Thank you for the link you provided. Most posts replying to questions are the usual "just do a little searching ..." and no one ever provides a starting point.
I've spent a lot of time "searching" and running into conflicting information or information pertaining to a completely different issue.
So again, Thank you for the link. It made this post simple.
[EDIT] I almost forgot to ask jimprime, why are you wanting to go back to stock and unrooted ?
I have not yet rooted, but have noticed a lot of people are looking at going back to stock and I am curious. Why root in the first place?
well first its not really my phone second i just wanted to try out froyo on the vibrant didn't c much difference and i didn't really find it that much faster than the stock and i switch back to stock
yea this helps out alot
Hello everyone, im sure that the answer i seek is here some where but ive been searching for a day and cant seem to find what im sure im looking for......a copy of a rooted stock rom for the usa tmobile vibrant that can be flashed via phone.....if someone can please point me in the right direction or add the link or whatever, i would surely appreciate it.

You will more thank likely have to go back to true stock using Odin. I do not think there are any roms that include root access with them. Root acess is what allows you to flash a rom as well as gain super user access to the device.
Here is a link to a true stock 2.1 rom, Flashable via odin only. http://www.mediafire.com/?8kw71bx06an0vwg
Ok thanks guys I tried to restore to my back up but it soft bricked I guess.... kept looping in boot up.....but before I did anything I download nero3...so went into recovery mode and load that and WOW! I love it....same feel as original rom so far as I can tell but with 2.2 and some sweet changes

Hi can any Dev make a cwm flashable stock rom zip? Back to 1.8.3 . So we do not have to keep using rsd when we don't like or would like to change the rom. This might already be a work in progress I'm not sure. I for one would like to have one. Thank you devs for all of your hard work into getting this ATRIX phone unlocked and rooted

Can't you use CWM to do a nandroid backup/restore of 1.8.3? I thought you could but haven't tried it, so if anyone can confirm that would be nice.

Never even thought about doing that , sometimes the best answer is the simplest things. And yes if someone could please comfirm that this works , this would be much appreciated.
It does be sure to wipe everything before restoring 1.8.3 or it will boot loop. Wrong forum BTW.

Edit I am num I thought this was in the dev forum sorry.
Thanks! Ill give this a shot... Apologize for not searching more thoroughly.
Did you try the dx2BSR.apk?
No, dont know anything about that .apk lol
I pasted the files and set the permissions appropriately and powered off then plugged in to wall and CWR in. Since I dont know of any roms I just did a backup and rebooted.
Are you 235 or 236?
oh sorry... 2.3.6
Need 235 for wifi on our 235 roms. Most roms don't do a kernel check. Do my Miui nandroid of Ace's rom. One guy did it but no wifi . You could hack in the needed 236 sys apk but if the problem is in system/framework forget it.
Do Eclipse you would get more help hacking the wifi.
What sort of hack? Im kinda reluctant to take many chances being this is a work phone. If it was mine I could take it back to CSpire as I bricked a Milestone X a few months back and had no problems with a warranty exchange
Do eclipse you can just nand back. Some in that thread may come up w/ a fix. IDNK. IT would be trial & error for me . I'm no Dev.
Thanks for you prompt replies and help...
Just wanting to be 100% sure... So I can flash Eclipse 2.1 from where I stand now or I need to restore to your MUI nand first then Eclipse?
Post in their thread. Just one at a time. Eclipse is 235. While Miui is 234. When eclipse was 234 a mx2'er did it on 235 and all was good but wifi.
BE SURE and flash ReRecovery b4 you leave cwr if you wipe data or flash a rom as you have no sbf . Read all my thread.
Thanks again for your help, It was easy to just follow steps with the desire but motorola has crap so locked down, its made me a bit more cautious and active these last couple days lol. Ill pay more attention courteously with the posts
EDIT: Oh so now with cwm loaded all I have to do now is flash the rerecovery zip instead of copying & pasting and setting permissions? Thats what I want sure about earlier.
The zip does the same as you did (or the apk) but from cwr. Do you have a sbf? You are really putting RR to the test (relying on it) if you don't.
No sbf. Dunno where to get one.
Sent from my Milestone X2 using xda premium
So be sure to do the BU, data wipe, Flash RR and restore testing in the mx2 section.

Rather open-ended question because the correct firmware is going to vary depending on what you want to do. For instance, do you wish to revert to a stock ROM? Do you want to be as up to date as possible? Are certain features important to you?
I personally don't recommend going back to stock, but to go forward and get a custom gingerbread ROM. Check the development forum for four good ones: Longhorn 2.9.1, DSC 1.2, Cyanogenmod 7, and MIUI.

no need to revert to stock then... streakdroid 1.9 is the best for 2.2.2... so whats the point on going back to stock...? all stock are not optimized at all and have many hidden and useless application in it...
last time i tried using the deodexed stock but still it is not enough and does drain the battery too... custom rom is way better...
but if you insist on going stock.. i am not stopping you.. do what ever you want.. also updating to stock gingerbread such as olleh 407 has its own problem too...

Some folks need to take a look back at when thier journey into android started...did you ask for help??.have you never asked for help??

I see from other posts that you are going to put 407 on the device and with this post why you're going that route is clear. Factory reset isn't required prior to flashing because flashing the ROM itself will wipe everything. What is required is that the stock recovery image for 407 be placed on the device before attempting to flash the ROM. Otherwise it won't work. I'm not going to go into detail on how to change the recovery image because there are sticky posts galore that have all the relevant info. A good thread to look at is in Streak 5 Android Development, titled "Everything you always wanted to know about the Streak but were too busy bricking it".

I get all that but I needed to ask...and folks should not be made to feel bad just because they have asked for help... I had no idea as to what to search for as I have never even seen a dell before,I assumed it would be as other androids get a stock rom and just flash but was hit with so many differant roms...ones for each region etc.l could not find a post that said LATEST STOCK ROM FOR U.K DELL STREAK 5 or anything like it,and it was a hell of a lot more complicated than I imagined so I was stuck and asked for help.Thankfully with the snippets of help I have been given I am more knowledgable now and even capable of flashing the device properly I hope...and if for some reason someone else needs to know the same I will pass on what I have learnt from you guys gladly to help a android user
Once again thank you for your help and infomation

The country you are in and the carrier you are using do not matter when it comes to flashing a Streak ROM. All that matters is whether the region of the recovery matches the region of the ROM you are installing. Thus, for 407, you would need a region 14 recovery as 407 is a region 14 ROM. Unlocked Streaks purchased direct from Dell had their own region, 00. To flash one of those ROMs, e.g. 360, you would need a region 00 recovery.
I hope that clears things up.
