I'm gonna switch CM's but I'm so used to admend (if that's how you spell it haha. How does edifying work? -____-
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Edify is a different script that earlier versions support. Amend is a script that newer versions don't support. Unless you are making flashable zips, you don't need to worry about it. If you are, take a new rom or kernel and compare the scripts. Change as needed.

Any update to this?
The supercharger kernel tweaks do all this and more. Plus you have to have init.d support for this. Both of my roms cover all these and more. But if you want to try it first you must get init.d going, then edit the tweaks to match our phone, and most importantly set your permissions correctly.

Look at the community rom thread in general, there is a link to an easy kitchen.

Okay, so to no avail I have tried to get UOT Kitchen to work, and everytime I try, no matter what format I put the .zip file into it fails to install. Any other avenues you suggest for creating a theme?
Explain everything you did

Okay, so I can cook it just fine, but it fails at the .zip process. I have tried using both edify script (MTD and EMCC) and Amend scripting. Both of those failed. Tried flashing them, tried unzipping them, and putting in the framework and senseui in again, nothing seems to work.
Senseui? This is a motorola phone. You only need to modify the main framework and systemui.apk

I think it needs a updated binary script that's why it wouldn't work when I tried a few months ago
Hm....now to figure out how to update the binary script. And to what....heh.
uhh crap, I think you can pull it from the latest rom and put it in the theme zip
G+ me Bro. I had a question. :]

Messenger is skanky dude I think emailing will be faster lol
This isn't working out so well.
I currently created a rom thats a mix of two roms put together and tweaked to my liking and battery life. I dont plan on distributing it because its not my work but i would like to make it into a .zip in case anything happens. How would I go about doing so? I tried fruit cake but it didnt seem to work at all. The two roms I have combined are iscrewed and turkbey.

Look at how the updater-script of various ROMs you use is written - that's the main thing you might need to change.

You can download my ROM and just delete my system folder and add yours. Do same for all files. Most of my roms use data for install off apps.. If you don't want that you have to delete data lines in updater script. Make sure you use NotePad++ not regular NotePad to edit scripts. Then sign zip.. If not know how just put zip on your phone and use signapktik app in market. If you already have turkbey or other ROM zip... Just do the same with there's

Signing is not necessary if you are using a base zip that already has one.
Sent from my HTC PH39100
I'm just going to use a base.zip and then put my system files into that one and see how it works. Worse case scenario I'll use my jig

Sometimes it breaks the signature, sometimes it doesn't when changing files.

Don't know what you have seen but I have used tons of basic zip files to work with. Never messed anything up. Especially since you don't need signed zips with cwm.

It doesn't always happen, but I've had it happen lots of times when moving big amounts of data like a whole system file.
Either way not worth arguing about.
Just giving a helpful answer for all scenarios.

I just want to be sure I can restore different ROMs from Nandroid backups without wiping or resetting? Also, do you rename your backups to identify the rom, etc? Thanks.
No need to wipe. And I've renamed mine and just added _cm9 to end of file name or whatever rom it was at the time

Thanks wolf

Just a side note on renaming your backups. Make sure you don't put any spaces in the new name. It caused problems for some people.

Has anyone tried that boot manager app on the photon? I know its not officially supported but I believe some Motorola phones are. We might get lucky.
I will be uploading my backup in the dev section this evening. Its deodexed and will have better init.d support (kudos to kuma)
Its going to be themed etc. Just wanted to see if anyone had some input as to what youd like to see in the backup. Keep in mind its nerely a backup and for locked bl so its limited. But will offer some benefits over stock.
Keep an eye out. Best of luck

I was going to make one, mine is currently themed to be galactic purple and such, but I have all paid apps, and distribution of paid apps for free isn't allowed on xda
Maybe you could try theming it, or try making it feel like a ROM on its own

well hows about this. I upload it tonight. And rather then uploading it themed. We can create flashable themed zips and stuff? Mines all revved up and ready to go. Just got stuck at work.

I did one of these. Although it's just a plain deodexed and zipaligned without the theming. Did you use kitchen and how did you theme it? Good job,BTW.

Thank you. Getting off work here soon. So the backup(without theming) will be uploaded tonight/early tomorrow depending on timezone yada yada. Yes indeed. Kitchen and varied software on my pc. Nothing special. Decompile, edit, recompile, swap & merge files to original apk for system apps so signatures dont conflict.
