I know there's lots of threads dedicated to un-bricking or restoring x10 mini/mini pro's but my situation seems to be a bit different so I wanted to ask explicitly.
I had been using (and was quite happy with!) owain's Cyanogen 6 for X10 mini pro (version 3.6) for about a month. The only problem I ran into was the camera app sometimes freezing while taking photos but that would be fixed by exiting and entering the app again.
This morning, the same thing happened - total freeze right after taking a photo. And this time nothing could exit the app, the phone went completely unresponsive - not even the power button was working. I have:
* removed and re-inserted the battery
* kept the battery removed for extended periods and put it back in
* tried going into the update mode (for use with SEUS or 3rd party flashers) by holding the back key while inserting the USB cable (both with battery in & out)
* tried pressing back, home and power simultaneously while plugging in USB
* tried the hard reset button near the camera
* kept the device plugged into the charger for longer periods
and the device shows absolutely no sign of life. Screen doesn't turn on (not even to "brighter blackness"), the LED doesn't light up , I see no activity when USB is plugged in either way (nothing shows up on lsusb, for Linux geeks).
Two questions to you Xperia gurus out here:
1) Is there anything else I can try, other than sending the device in for repairs?
2) Is it possible that the camera app somehow caused such serious damage? Enough to screw up the bootloader maybe? Any such reported issues with Cyanogen 6? All "bricking" cases I read on the forums seemed to occur during flashing/updating the device.
I'd appreciate any comments on the subject. Thanks in advance!

Yeah that would help, give us more info .. maybe OC ?
PD: **** now that i think, v3.6 have oc, do you oc'ed your device so much? like 768mhz?
I think You tried the only way to bring Your Xperia back to life - "back key while inserting the USB cable" @ SE update service.
I think this method must to work at the worse case...

Didn't know 3.6 had built-in overclocking? I didn't do anything extra myself to overclock, was happy enough with the processor's performance. And I didn't install any other mods except Cyanogen 3.6 itself (well, just the little one to switch the physical keyboard light on as well, but that's it).
Thanks everyone who tried to help, I'm almost positive myself that there must have been some hardware damage. Wish you all happy days with your Android phones, and may they never sustain any hardware damage

one thing you should try is:
borrow a fully charged mini pro battery and retry seus recovery
it is possible that your battery is completely empty and the phone can not enter charging mode due to a firmware problem (no charging led visible while on usb)
without receiving power from either usb or the battery, it can't enter the seus recovery mode

Testing the battery with a voltmeter shows it's alive (3.7 volts, can deliver current for other devices). Found this youtube video which shows another x10 mini pro that seems to be showing the same symptoms (id jDiUaxnnD1I)
I'll have to take it to the service center and see what they say.

Hi. The phone application was not functioning well and the F/C dialog showed up. I powered off the phone and from that point, the phone won't turn on.
The battery was fully charged before this happened.
When I press the power button, the phone vibrates for half a second, the screen brightens up but does not show anything but a black screen.
I removed SIM and SD cards, removed the battery and performed the above steps but nothing happened.
I also tried to put on the charger to see what's going on. Once I plug the charger, the phone's screen brightens but shows only blank (even without pressing the power button)
When connected to the charger, the green light for charging is on for some minutes, then goes off automatically.
I tried to connect it to the PC, and PC Companion finds the device as usually. It even shows the dialog on the pc screen to mount the device.
I tried a hard reset, but does not work
On some point, the sony logo appeared and then a dialog saying: "sorry process system is not responding". The first time I pressed Force Close and the phone turned off. Immediately after that, the phone turned on and showed the exact message. I pressed "Wait" but nothing happened in the next 15 minutes.
I called Sony's support center and they suggested a software update. Did the process exactly as it should, but again, even after the software update the screen shows nothing but black. It is all the time brightened for some reason.
I tried to turn off the phone for some time by removing the battery, but as soon as I put the battery back on, the phone's screen brightens and stays that way forever.
The phone was functioning perfectly up until this issue. The only application I had installed apart from some games, was AWDLauncher. On the screen I had only a TASK widget and a battery status widget.
The phone is 3 months old and has been always in perfect condition.
ANY help would be appreciated!!!!
Many Thanks

I tried the steps found in the link you gave me, but I couldn't go any further after step no (5) from the tutorial, as it would require to enable Debugging mode and I cannot access the OS (since the device won't turn on).
Is there a way to format all the contents of the device and have them replaced by running SEUS (as it always says that my device is up to date now)?
Was it this:
http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/sup.../detailed/updateservice/xperiax10?cc=gb&lc=en
That Sony Ericsson told you to do?
If not, use that.
Download it, follow the steps when it says you have the latest version, press "Install Anyway".
Hope this works.
Hi itTim. thanks for the response
this is what i did but no improvement at all ((
Sounds like you broke your LCD screen somehow.
That would suck because I broke mine and it cost me $200 to fix.
Hi Hypercore.
Yes that could be the problem. The thing is that I always took rally good care of the phone, always carried in a leather pouch and never droped it. How sensitive is this lcd anyway?? Did you notice any cracks on your lcd or was the problem simillar to mine?
Thanks
When you turn on the phone does the lcd backlight turn on?
If so, look for any faint lines of color (usually a hairline size). If you see any of those then your screen is cracked.
the backlight is on, but there are no lines of colour on the lcd screen.
another weird thing is that the green light on the top blinks one or two times every time i put on the battery. even if the phone is off, once I insert the battery turns on automatically after a couple of seconds.
If all else fails you could try to flash back to your original fw with the tools here:

Phones are very wierd pieces of technology. I once bricked my k610i and that's a phone that's supposed to be impossible to un-brick, but out of nowhere a month or so later i picked it up, hit power and it turned on perfectly. Made no sense at all, but it worked.
Taking the battery out for a long time probably took all the electrical charges from it (kind of like how a computer power supply / monitor can hold power charges) and reset your handset.

Guys i Really need the solve of this problem , my xperia has blank screen now without backlight and the phone completely doesn't work . when i put the battery and prees the switch botton it gives me 3 red signals , i've updated and hard reset but it didn't work , and btw the LCD is fine , any idea. did removing the battery worked???? . please answer
After a looooot of time since my latest post, finally my Xperia came back to life. There was a battery failure which means the phone was ok all the time. Weird thing is that the led light showed that the battery was charging ok. I removed the battery and after a lot of time it is working ok again. This was really really odd.
FYI for anyone else that gets this issue.
I just had this for the past hour after trying to change my baseband....could not get it back for anything.
What I did finally try was run another baseband via flash tool, connected to usb and it started flashing....after flash phone powered on again...yeah I agree with everyone, that is freaking scary when it happens.
Greetings!
This isn't the first time my X10 stops working, but most of the times simple SEUS or flashtool flash fixed everything. But this time it's diferent, that's why I'm asking for help.
For the whole previous week my phone was playing with me. Random reboots, power button stopping to work, taking the phone out of the pocket just to see it turned off and such. This is how it reacts now:
1. Trying to turn it on: Green LED flashes for a split second and then the phone vibrates and that's it. No reaction. If I leave it then, green LED flashes for a split second from time to time. Have to reinsert the battery to make it 'react' again.
2. Trying to use SEUS: It detects the phone alright, the phone seems to enter flash mode, but the status bar doesn't even start filling. After some time I just get the message that the flashing failed.
3. Trying to use flashtool: Pretty much the same: status bar doesn't move, and after some time 'Flashing failed'.
4. Plugging it into wall charger or usb: Green LED lights up like in flash mode for 5 secs, then turns off, then lights up again and alternates like that every 5 seconds or so.
Any suggestions? I was on Wolf's V6 rom, locked bootloader, and my warranty ended like 5 months ago. Pretty sticky situtation. I'd really like to revive it without the need to bring it to repair or something. Eagerly waiting for every reply.
Thanks in advance!
Bump!
Please anybody!
probly cos of dead battery
I would say it was most probably because of your battery is ****ed, your battery connecting pins are screwed, or something gotta do with hardware.
Try leaving the phone on charge for at least 2 hours to see if that fixes it.
Or try to "Jump" start your battery.
I have read how to do this in a thread somewhere...i think by omegared...try and search for it
U can use external battery chargers to charge your battery. Or you can borrow it from someone for few hours

I kinda suspected my battery would be faulty. I remember I dropped it accidentaly around the time it stopped working. The fall won't be over 50cm, but I guess it was still fatal...
>gregbradley
After it stopped working, I left it plugged into wall charger overnight. Had just green led flashing and still no boot. Jump starting seems to be something I don't wanna mess with
>milton.bain
Don't really have access to any of these items, but I guess I'll try to get it from somewhere.
Ok then..
just buy a new battery then
if you want to check before you pay, find a friend with a working x10 and borrow theirs...
Noone I know owns a X10, but someone I know works at the place I bought my phone, so I'll try to borrow a battery from there for a few moments.
some of the symptoms of your phone indicates that it might be a motherboard problem.
the best suggestion is that you try out another battery in your phone, and see if it will act the same. if it is, have it checked, it might be hardware.
Hi, my Xperia X10 mini pro is completely dead, it won't turn on, no led turns on when i put it on the charger or connect to the computer. My computer doesn't recognize it, and nothing appears on the screen.
Is there something i can do to ?
Flash tool nor SEUS recognize him, I really don't know what to do.
Can you tell us a little about the history of bricking?
How did it happen, what did you do with the device...
Yesterday I installed MiniCM7 Pro v20, and everything went right, all functions were on and smooth. Today I was installing some apps, and I left them installing, later when I went to see if everything was ready, i found my cellphone turned off. I thought that my battery has been drained, so i put it to recharge, but after 3 hours nothing appeared on my phone. I've already tested my battery with a multimeter, and so the problem isn't in the battery.
I guess this is all.
It could be your usb lead, may be try another.

What is happening with SEUS? You do press the back button while connecting the usb cable and nothing happens? It says that you have the latest software installed and there is no option to install again??
Well isn't the usb i've tried another one, from sony ericsson and still not working. When i tri to connect to SEUS it simply doesn't recognize the cellphone even though i'm pressing the back button.
You said you tested the battery with a multimeter, what was the voltage across the terminals? It may show a charge but still be incapable of booting the phone, however, the voltage may be too low to accept a recharge (lipoly batteries have a safety cutout to prevent charging a discharged batter as they tend to blow up - it could be as much as 3v in some circumstances.) I think sony ericsson read 0% at 3200mv or there abouts and 100% at 4200mv.
If your battery is below 3v then you will need a new one.
Sent from my U20i using Tapatalk
Well you said your battery had drained, and IIRC, lithium-ion batteries don't take too well being drained so that might have killed it.
Have you tried plugging a charger into it and leaving for roughly 20 hours?
Well it appeared 3V, but the precision were set so that i couldn't see the number after the dot, i mean, i don't know the "x" in 3.x V
And it is on the charger right now, i'll wait the 20 hours. Hopping it comes back tomorrow.

i've got the same problem. now i hate my xperia mini pro.... maybe samsung will heal my wound................

I had the same problem. I tried some key combinations like "Power + Back" or "Power + Menu" and it didn't work, but when I tried "Power + Home" the phone came back alive!
Hi all,
It seems my X10 mini pro is bricked.
Briefly: When I turn on the phone, it vibrates. About 8 seconds llater, the screen lights up, but doesn't show anything, then goes dark again. It then keeps repeating this: once in a while, the screen lights up, but shows nothing, and then goes dark again.
When plugged in to charge, the LED light doesn't come on (and actually hadn't for a while when charging, even though the phone was still working).
I've deleted all the contents of the SD card and updated the firmware with SEUS and PC Companion; both don't come up with any errors and claim everything has been installed, but there is no change in the phone's behavior. Also tried to install the French stock ROM (the only link that seems to work in the Flashtool+ROM thread) using Flashtool, but to no avail.
Does anyone have any other sugggestions?
I was wondering whether it could actually be a battery problem, as I've had some issues with charging the phone for a while before this happened; e.g. the LED didn't work when charging, and on more and more occasions the phone didn't seem to charge when plugged in. Could this be caused by a problem with the battery? (Have ordered a new one from ebay, so will see what happens when it arrives.) I'm not aware that I did anything unusual with the phone software-wise that could have caused it to be bricked. (Phone was rooted, but I did that ages ago.)
Many thanks for your help!
could be the battery going bad since you mentioned you have it ages ago or so. or could be the cable as well.

I've had it for about 15 months. Is it normal for the battery to go after that amount of time?
Which cable do you mean?
i cannot really tell about the battery but the usb cable for your charger.
Ok, it's not the battery. I tried it in a shop with one of their batteries, which worked in their phone, and the phone still won't turn on.
Is there anyone who thinks it could still be a software issue?
Otherwise it seems my options are to send off the phone, which might cost a bit, or to start digging around in the phone myself for a bit. I found a disassembly guide online, but it scares me a bit, since the first step seems to be to lift off the keyboard, and I'm a bit worried about damaging it and about how to put it back. Has anyone else here got any experience with taking their X10 mini pro apart?
Thanks!
Charging issues etc are nornally to do with the dodgy USB port in the phone. Try wiggling the cable at the port end see if you can get it to charge then try a SEUS
Sent from my X10 Mini Pro using xda premium
No, it wasn't a charging issue.
Took it to be fixed, and it turned out it was the cable inside that connects the screen etc to the low part of the screen.
Now that the phone is working again, I've got to figure out how to get rid of the French keyboard layout that I got onto it when trying to fix the firmware ...
Why not flashing mine in my signature, it's QWERTY! ;-)

Ok after reading all this I see you have tried all logical fix's.
I agree with doc that you should try a new battery as they are cheap on e-bay and worth a try.
If it still doesn't work then you may have hardware issue or something, like a broken rubber/spring under your back key.
So you may have to pull it apart and try to repair it, so it makes or stop's making contact in your situation.
You can find how to dismantle your phone if need be here on xda or google.
If your thinking of replacing it you may as well try as you may surprise youself
hope you get it fixed.

Haha, I love all you people as to how sincerely you help people and listen to them in the call of their distress. Anyways, if we are discussing this : here's what I want to propose : 1) Trying a new battery : I connected the devise to a external wall DC Supply (battery removed) and connected the opposite ends to the plates where battery connects in the back cover. Tried switching on the Xperia from there. Got the same response. So nothing new Nada. So a new battery is out of picture. Though thanks for putting it on the table, but I guess it will hardly solve the issue as I already tested it with the External Wall DC supply. Double checked the battery with the Voltmeter to see the charge, its charged capacity is over 80 %. So, cant be a faulty battery as well.
2) Thanks for letting me know about the guides regarding how to dismantle the phone. I would politely disagree. Reason : Well nothing that I am sure about, It can be a issue (hardware defect of spring being broken) I find it less probably. Coz the night b4 it was working fine and I just put it on table, woke up and it was Boom ! So, until unless, someone might have caused any harm to the device I guess its safe for me to rule that option out as well.
3) So, narrowing it down to what I might think the problem be : Since it does not boot normally and boots irregularly to Flash Mode, my best bet against the whole situation is that I need to fix the boot sector of Xperia. If i can some how set the boot sector right, I guess the boot can be again done and restored perfectly. A friend of mine suggested RF Kit, JTag for Xperia X10 boot repair. Thanks, let me know what you think. !
