[Q] 1080p for Vibrant? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible to upgrade the Camera on the vibrant to shoot in 1080p? I don't know if thats a software or hardware issue. I think I remember Cyanogen getting 720p working on the Nexus One. Just inquiring...

I dont think the hardware is fast enough to record in 1080p, it would be lagy.

Evo 3D Camera Sensor Information

Does anyone know the exact model number of the camera sensor on our phones?
I have heard that it is built by OmniVision but I'm not sure about this.
I was trying to do some research to see if 1080p video recording would be possible.
http://www.ovt.com/applications/application.php?id=3
Looking through the list, it looks like every 5MP sensor is capable of 1080p @30 fps. We know our CPUs can handle 1080p because the sensation can manage it just fine with the same CPU. Anyone have any information?
I said it before...but why would htc NOT include 1080p? Its a selling point...they did it for a reason probaly.

Yeah, we wouldn't know. But if the sensor is an OmniVision, we know it must support 1080p because every 5MP sensor made by OmniVision does. We also know our CPUs can handle 1080p. HTC must have removed 1080p support for some other reason.

Where did you find that information?
That is a 1.3 MP sensor, if anything it could be the front facing camera sensor. Samsung says it can do [email protected] 24 fps, not that we would use it for that.

and you can keep saying it all you want but its 99.9999% fact that the phone can do it and the software is the only thing holding it back right now.
it is VERY likely that they didn't include it b/c of bugs, just like they removed the transparant rosie, and panaramic pictures that were shown at its unvailing.
likely we see all of these things in future OTA's...

True, they did do that with 720p video recording on the dInc. I think the secondary problem is the logistics involved in moving that many pixels...reliable storage speed. I think the primary problem is likely feeding the sensor a reliable amount of light to keep the frame rate from getting more embarrassing than the 720p already is....sadly

A 5MP is more than twice the pixels needed for 1080p which is just a hair over 2MP. That also means that we are more than capable of capturing 1080p in 3D as well...in fact, why the hell couldn't we capture 5mp 3D stills?
I think 5mp 3D stills is a much easier thing to accomplish. I mean, sure, we probably can get it to capture 1080p video, but, frame rate would probably totally blow.
...now that I'm thinking about it, we don't get full 720p 3D, we get what is called 720p SBS-half, meaning that we lose half of our resolution to do 3D even though the sensors are totally capable of doing SBS-full...that seems like another doable hack.
...what if one camera was serviced exclusively by one core and the file reassembled afterwards? That would make 720p SBS-full logistically easier, but then we run into the reliable write-speed problem again...
You can all ac like smartasses(no offensse) but if i would be htc and i knew the optimus3d rocks, i definatly would made 5mp 3d photos possible. Unless the hardware posed problems.

dunno how you get us being smartasses? just informing you the truth and facts of the matter.
one would of thought HTC would of included panaramic photos too but they had bugs in it so they took it out at last min and plan to add it back in future OTA. same should be for the 1080p.
its not a hardware limitation.
Or they are "unfixable bugs". You guys have some awesome devs here but no, 5mp 3d photos are in my mind impossible. A company that also makes nice hardware surely do not have bad software writers. Okay not the best, but good enough to probaly see its not possible. Also the o3d cant make 5mp 3d photos...i think that says enough.

im talkin bout 1080p recording more than anything else here as thats something that the hardware supports without a doubt.
just b/c they pull a feature at launch doesn't mean they have bad developers which is what you are inferring by saying if they pulled it then its unfixable b/c they "surely do not have bad software writers."
Go back read up some on other HTC phones and other makers for the matter b/c this happens all the time. company tries to push the max of the phone up till launch and then if can't iron out stuff 100% they pull it to implement it later in an OTA once fixed up.
This is what will be done with the panaramic camera shooting mode which was in the 3d at the launch at ctia and i was told it wa pulled b/c of bugs and would be released later in OTA. this feature is not hampered by hardware by anymeans nor is 1080p recording. Another example is the FPS limit on the Evo4G at launch. wasn't hardware limit there, and then bam an OTA unlocked it.
so point is just b/c feature is pulled or not included at launch doesnt mean it isn't going to be included. if hardware supports it, then it will happen. end of story.

I can believe in 1080p 2d since the o3d also has it...but no to higher res pictures in 3d (larger then 3.15mp)

yeah the 1080p 3d and such i dunno about b/c that was never even hinted at during the ctia event. the other stuff they pulled last minute was least there at one point and just didnt have time to polish it up.
Working on a backdoor for this problem now.
I found the settings for the camera in the /system/etc/media_profiles.xml file. The file seems to include settings for all the different resolutions and quality/send settings within the camera app. The first changes I made caused the app to fail to launch. I discovered that a reboot of the phone is not necessary between changes of the .xml file. Simply closing the camera app and re-opening it does the job. I restored my backup and the camera came up fine. Thanks to Root Explorer for auto-backing up any edited files.
I edited the VideoEncoderCap name=”m4v” code from 720p to 1080p resolutions, but in testing the resolutions remained at 720p. It would seem the app is an HTC app and that the settings might be found directly in there.
I'll update if I find more.
we all know 1080p was in the evo 3d probably sometime during when htc was testing it..htc probably didnt think it was working as well as they wanted to they de activated it just like they deactivated panorama and hdr but since it was there at one point in the rom then it can be activated back [htc never removes things completely just simply deactivates it] we just need to find where to activate it.

Mod Galaxy S3's Cam Resolutions

Hey guys,
I just saw some nice stuff that was did on the nexus7, like enabling 720p video recording with front cam.
Well, our beloved phone can do this without problems.
But the crap is, that the s3 has only 3 or 4 choosable resolutions, one is 1280x960, other 2 are more like squares, and the standart 640x480.
But actually I want to take picutures in 720p or 768p, what would be below the 2MP range. I know the phone is able to do it, since it does video recording i the same resolution.
Maybe someone can tell me, what file need to be modded to enable this?
I would try it.
with regards
alex

[Q] Any way/app to get 60fps+ video recording on ZU?

My previous phone was an iPhone, which i now consider inferior to my ZU, although I haven't seen a way to get over 30fps on video recording on the ZU, yet the iPhone can do just that. Is there any way at all to get at least 60fps recording on it?
I suppose I should add the fact that I would be willing to flash different ROMs, Kernels etc to achieve this

The SoC can't do 60FPS. Save up for the ZU2

Record in Ultra HD?

I know its not officially supported, but do you think it will be possible to do it somehow with root?
Thanks
i think its possible
it has powerfull 801 snapdragon processor and 13 mp capable camera which is exactly the same as 1+1... so it might be possible...
lets give some time to release world wide and some times to dev's. hope they will surely make it possible.
Yeah for sure 4k recording would be nice, but for the moment i wish there will be a way to record FHD @60fps, because for now it's 30 fps and that's kinda annoying

Slow Motion video

Good morning!
One of the things I use on my LM2 is the slow motion video. But the quality is quite low (I'm assuming the 120fps are achieved by either interlacing the footage or filming at a low resolution and then upscaling it) and I don't know if this is an hardware or software limitation.
I tried Open Camera and other apps, but I can't get more than 30fps out of them.
My two questions are:
- Are there other camera apps capable of 120fps (or more) on this phone, preferably with better quality?
- How do the alt ROMs fare in this aspect? One of the things keeping me away from custom ROMs is the fear of losing this feature.
Thank you!

Unfortunately no... Still looking...
I also want to know this..is our hardware not capable
If you are on Nougat, use google camera mod. It has a slight better quality on slow motion and also records audio (very nice)
