I had to return my g tablet to office depot for having 3 dead pixels. And now the replacement has about 5 dead pixels. Out of the box they were fine. But after using them for about 2 days the dead pixels happen. Both times I was running vegan gingerbread. Also none of them came with screen protectors. So is this just bad luck or something else?
certainly bad luck.
Non of the newer stock has any screen protectors (was confusing owners into thinking they got a faulty screen).
If the dead pixels were newly developed, did you try some of the online dead pixel re-activation applications ? Jscreen fix is one of them but requires java to run so not sure if it would run on the gtab.

How do you find these dead pixels? As the gtab is using a standard mass produced netbook screen, you would think dead pixels would be unlikely. I don't notice any on mine, but then again I haven't really checked each pixel.
I dont look for them, I just notice little black spots on the screen then go to wipe it off but come to find out its the actually screen. Then I get a pixel detecter from the market and then find about 5 others.

You sure you're not just seeing the digitizer substrate?
No, I see the the others dots that are in rows. I just took the second one back to office depot and the tech looked at it and confirmed that they were dead pixels. My next one is getting here Wednesday so hopefully the 3rd one is ok.
Would the software have anything to do with it? Because it seems like when I install Gingerbread they show up.

I guess it wasn't as funny as I thought...
The ROM you install is not likely to be causing bad pixels. Bad pixels happen because manufacturers can't test every component with driving cost up so they ship the items and leave it to the customer to be final quality control. When buying at the low end of the cost spectrum you can expect more defects. The overwhelming majority of people won't even notice a few bad pixels or at least won't care and the manufacturers know that so it's cheaper for them to deal with the few people who do care through customer service than to fix the problem with higher cost parts.

No the rom would not be causing dead pixels. You sound half convinced of this so I figured you should just not install gingerbread anymore.

I wouldn't care if they were just 1 pixel. But its at least 6 dead pixels grouped together and other black dots all of the screen. Ill install gingerbread again and it it happens again Im not going to exchange it at office depot. I will call viewsonic and get them to exchange it.

I'm quite sure you're NOT seeing dead pixels. Just return it, because every one you get is going to look that way. Unless someone drop-kicked it at office depot, of course, that would never pass the electronic inspection at the factory where the panels are made.
And no, the rom/os type won't make any difference.
Return it for a refund, and get something with a different style of LCD.

I am seeing them. The tablets don't come that, they get them about after 2 days. Every time the tech at office depot says its dead pixels and confirms that I can exchange it. I think they just have a bad batch of the ones they stocked their shelves with. They ordered the one thats coming tomorrow so hopefully it is going to be ok. Like I said before, If it happens again, I am sending it to viewsonic.

Well, that's even more odd. I have NEVER heard of an LCD developing dead pixels days later. Ever.
Good luck with it, whatever it is.

I have around 4 stuck pixels. They show up on grey screens as little light dots. Gets kind of annoying watching movies when and such. Tried the jscreen fix from the market but no luck.
Is this pretty normal? What's Sprint/htc policy? Just wondering if every phone has a few. Thanks in advance?

Take it back, tell them you want an exchange due to screen defect. If it's one lone pixel I can see it being dismissible but a cluster is not good.
In the general market they usually have a dual standard.
up to X amount of pixels bad is considered within tolerance however if the pixels are adjacent then the threshold is lower so it would fail quality control.
If they give you grief just ask for a refund and rebuy it
Take it back. Its defective. They will replace it

i turned on camera in dark room and i see like 3 pixels blue/green
has anyone tried that?
i tried my friends , turning on camera in completely dark room and didnt see any pixel issues
I have found from all these devices it is pretty common to see a stuck pixel here and there. I think you have to decide how bad it is or isn't. Sure you can exchange it but then you have to keep worrying if the next one will be worse and it will then become a never ending cycle!

Curious what you re going to do? I have 1 tiny one on the side of the phone that is only noticeable in a dark room on a black background. On the fence on what to do....I went through this with my TP2 and went through 4 phones and ended up keeping the best one of all of them but still had a stuck one. Just wasn't as bad as the other 3.

Good idea. I stopped by the store today and they just about laughed me and my 5 stuck pixels out of the building.....tossers.
They ran a "test" and said everything was fine and a few stuck pixels were fairly normal. I called sprint and they offered a new phone that should be here Monday. Kudos to sprint!
Hopefully the new one doesn't have the same problem.

Has anybody experienced a dead pixel on their Sony Tablet S?
I have 1, not a big deal, but when you spend £400 on a device, you become very aware of it and you do not expect it to happen after a few days of buying it.
Im just seeing if anybody else is in the same boat, and if so, what they did about it?
Haven't exclusively looked, but I normally notice that sort of thing
I'd take it back, it's a genuine manufacturing defect. If they give you some BS about repairing just say you want a straight refund then buy another one, that's what happened with my Dell Streak.

Not when you spend a large sum of money on a tablet it isnt.
Anyway, managed to swap it it this evening thanks
Had that issue too....exchanged it for a new one..so far so good..weird thing was though, before I returned the one with the dead pixel, I did a factory restore to wipe all my info. After that the pixel was fine lol Still, didnt want to take the chance and just exchanged it.
Did you tell them you had issues with pixels or did you make something up to exchange it?
I told them it was a pixel issue...The guy turned it on, and like I said, it didn't show up because of the factory reset. I told the guy that I didnt want to take a chance and they gave me a new one.
No dead pixels here and havent seen any on a device in a few years. This is 2011. It shouldnt happen.

had 1 stuck pixel. went away after a couple taps. don't like that I had to do it but at least it's gone
Okay so I wanted to make a thread to see how many other people have stuck or dead pixels on their Rezounds. Please list how many phones you have had to exchange, and if the issue has been resolved or not. I just want to see if this is a widespread isssue, and we can notify HTC.
Phone #1 - Dead pixel replaced at store
Phone # 2- Given in store with dead pixel (rep denied seeing the dead pixel)
Phone # 3 - After getting another in store and hours after leaving the store a pixel popped up in the corner of the lower right screen :/.
Phone # 4 - All is well.
Mine has a dead pixel. It's red and in the upper right corner. You can't really see it during the day, but it sticks out at night. I already went in to the store and a girl working there confirmed that she could see it also(although she struggled). I decided to hold off for now though as I got it from Best Buy Mobile & have 30 days.
The 1st unit I tried did have a dead pixel right in the middle of the display, but the 2nd unit does not (I checked).
Seems like this is a widespread issue. I do have until the 22nd (tomorrow) for my 14 days. Idk if I want to go back into a store and pray for a good rep that isn't blind and can spot the dead pixel that is sticking out like a sore thumb.
Has anyone used one of the pixel fixer apps on the market with success?

I tried something called Pixel Fixer 2.0.0 and Dead Pixel Detect & Fix but neither helped at all.
The pixel seems to be vanishing for me slightly and slowly. I have been switching inbetween these two. Dead Pixel Detect and Fix and Pixel Curer. Dead Pixel Detect is full screen and Pixel Curer is section by section. Give em a shot see if they help your stuck red pixel.
Updated in OP. THREE Rezounds in a row with stuck pixels fail. I didn't have any defects with my RAZR just the fact that it had horrible battery life.
damn dude, that sucks..that's some bad luck. i've got mine from day 1 and i've checked with programs and i have all my pixels fine. HTC must be made aware of these defects!

Yeah it's very annoying the fact that I would get THREE defective phones in a row. I'm going to try a few pixel repair programs but I doubt it'll work. I don't know if I want to deal with the whole warranty exchange process again. But it is extremely disappointing a screen of that caliber will have stuck/dead pixels. I could wait to see if it gets unstuck, but the longer I wait the higher chances the device I get will be a refurb from warranty.
That's surprising to hear. I've looked at dozens of Rezound units and have never seen a dead pixel. If you see this, please immediately contact your Verizon customer support to inquire about a replacement.

Sounds like the same batch. Can you try a different store?
Let's Track It
In hopes of figuring out if these problems are just a bad batch of phones, I have started a thread asking if people with problems can list the problems and the manufacture date or batch number from the problematic phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1359862
Maybe we can figure this out.
Thanks!
it might not be acceptable to you, but generally speaking on LCD displays, dead pixels are a reality and there is usually a threshold count on what fails and what is accept as "normal/pass" - its usually in the range of 3-5 pixels

1 pixel on a 4.3 inch screen sticks out like a sore thumb compared to 3-5 on a 20 + inch monitor. Also it's not acceptable for Verizon either since they're giving replacement units. I doubt anyone here with this phone will accept a single stuck/dead pixel on their phone.
Happy to say that #4 was the charm! No stuck pixels/dead pixels .

However, 1 dead pixel out of 2M is still quite a tiny fraction. Haha. I didnt have a point.

The Gap Issue
If your within your 14 days exchange it , if you got It outright full price you have 30 days .
Personally if it's very minuscule and not worth crabbin over ,just let it be .
HTC would not have let this go if they thought it would pose a negative Sales risk.... or hurt the lcd with dirt and debris.
And by the way ''The gap ''It's on almost every device just fyi.. probably a million .

i had 3 htc one's, all of them has stuck pixels.. i got my first htc one online and sadly i got a refurbished one, it has 4 stuck pixels to any color and a gap top-to bottom side was perfect tho. so i returned it and i will get my money back within 30 days i think. so i decided to my local tmo store and got another one, but it has 1 tiny stuck pixel which is annoying at night time, its noticeable in black background so i went back to tmo and they give me a new handset and it give me the same result so what i did is just return the item and got refunded again.. the handsets i got from tmo store was build way better than the one i got online, it is almost perfect but there still gaps of course.. so once i return the handset i ask them to give me a call once they get a new batch in stock. so hopefully next time i will try to buy one, i'm getting a better batch. x finger to me..

I have 2 stuck pixels on the bottom that you can hardly see, especially when you're outside. I don't notice it, but only when the screen is pitch black and focusing it dead on.
Something I can live with especially I have 0 gaps and the speaker grills are flushed with the screen.
If it's something minor, just stick with it. In my experience, you'll just end up getting another unit that may be worse.
I can agree that I have not seen any dead pixels in a long time–The last time I remember seeing one was when a child poked my laptop screen. Other than that, have you dropped or damaged the phone in any way?

Talk to Tmo people they are going to replace it, I don't want an RMA though...I've had others LG phones in the past and those came with dead pixels too(verizon's spectrum 2, G2, Optimus 2X)...Its a quality control issue...wont recomend to anyone...also you wont see it unless the brightness its all the way to 100% and you need to look very very close to the screen, a magnifier should help too.
Did that. That many phones of yours had issues? You must have insulted the great pixel peeper fairy.... Hope you your replacement is good.
