ok idk why i cant figure this out but please don't flame for possibly a minor problem. i have my atrix on 1.83 with greyblur 2.1 over it and can't seem to sideload any apps. and also the 'unknown sources' checkbox is now showing anywhere. i rooted with gingerbreak, anyone have any suggestions?
Yeah that sorta freaked me out after coming from an HTC Evo. For the Atrix, you must enable it manually or through a script in the Dev section called GladEnable.
Seems like it should work for 1.83 even though it doesn't list it.

Please forgive me. I am very new to this. I searched for an answer but didn't find one.
I successfully flashed over to the new leaked RUU yesterday after backing up my apps with Astro file manager and then reinstalling them. But now, a few of my apps aren't showing up in astro file manager, mainly my MLB At BAT 11. I thought "no big deal. I'll just go into the Marketplace under 'My Apps' and redownload". Problem is, only a few apps like Youtube, Maps, etc are listed there.
Again, I thought it wasn't a big deal and decided to use the Marketplace search function. But it seems that MLB At Bat is no where to be found.
At this point, I am just ready to go back to the stock RUU and wait for it to be pushed out OTA to me. How do I go about doing that? Any help would be great appreciated.
A couple of things to know, One, I have never been rooted. Two, I did a factory restore hoping that would do it, but it only erased all personal settings and data. What now?
No one at all has any idea what's wrong?
I don't suppose flashing an older back up would do the trick? Would it?

I'd like to know answer to the topic's questio aswell.. I flashed the leaked RUU and now the phone won't connect to GPRS network (Wi-Fi works). APN is correct (triple checked and it worked previously out of the box).
Tried to reboot the phone several times, but can't get it to connect to mobile APN
Edit: wrong forum... sorry, was ment to reply to Sensation forum.
Here is how to return to stock

Last night my phone restarted and seemed to have reset everything... I no longer have internet (because all of the default APN settings for ATT in the US DO NOT exist)... My 'home' button does not work correctly. The device will not lock even if I try to setup the lock for it.
I had Gingerblur 6.something on there... I've been trying to read about "flashing the sbf" but I don't know enough to get this working... Can somebody point me in the right direction? Also, can somebody post their default APN's? I would really appreciate the help as my phone is really messed up atm...
can anybody help? it really sucks not being able to use my phone
Sounds like you need to do the SBF. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991072) Its not hard if you follow step by step. What part are you confused about?
I actually managed to get it SB flashed but I cannot seem to get 1.5.7 rooted for whatever reason... I've been trying to install GreyBlur/GingerBlur.

^use gingerbreak. It's much easier and works great on the 1.57. Backup the contents of your sdcard though since it will erase all the data.
Also to enable sideloading, download root explorer and sqlite. Go into root explorer --> ers.settings/databases/settings.db. It'll bring you into sqlite. Select secure and the second line should be "install non market apps". Change the value from zero to one
After that, you can install custom ROMs through CWM. I personally like the Gladi ROM
Are you using GladRoot?
Trying to test an app I developed; first roadblock is the setting under Applications / Unknown Sources [Allow installation of non-Market applications] is missing!
This is on a new g-Tablet (1.2-4349). I changed ROM to Mountain Laurel yesterday, and setting option is still not there. Can anyone confirm if this setting is available in Honeycomb or any other ROM versions, and/or how to make it appear (or what file to hack into to change the setting on the g-Tab?)
Thanks,
G

It's never been there on my gTablets (4 - since they was new-also.4349s). Not sure if it's gTablet thing or Android 2.2 or greater thing. My old Anroid 2.1 tab had the option.
Even without the option your gTabelt can install from non-market sources.
Thanks for the reply. I think it is this "Unknown Sources" option which is what allows the Android device to be displayed as a target in the SDK to which to port your app. Currently, I am only able to 'test' the app in the Emulator through Eclipse.
If I create the entire .apk package, then yes I could probably install it w/o going through the Market, but when you're testing an app and compiling 40+ times a day, that's not a very productive way to do it. Essentially, I need to have the gTablet available as a device through the SDK to port the app, otherwise I'm stuck in testing it in the Emulator on my Windows computer for now...
UPDATE TO THE ABOVE POST -----
Just to resolve/close out this issue, in case someone has this same problem down the road... I just updated the ROM to the Flashback-Honeycomb, and the Unknown Sources option is THERE! Woo-hoo! I had absolutely NO issues with the update; simply downloaded/copied the update.zip to the device root, rebooted with power/Vol+ selected the zip, then rebooted and selected "Wipe user data" (then scroll down to "Yes"), it is up, running and quite an elegant interface. All is working well about an hour into this!!!
1st let me apologize if this is the wrong sections/forums as this is my first post to XDA. My question is about the "Unknown Sources" button on the Nook Tablet. After performing this root and getting the other Rom/OS working and getting the Android market working. I have tried to sideload a few other apk's and keep getting the Android market only warning and I must enable "Unknown Sources". When I check the "Unknown Sources" box it never seems to take after I back out to do what I need to. Any ideas as to what im doing wrong? Again thanks for the help in advance.

I get this as well. Because of this I can not install homecatcher.
I am having this issue as well. I saw a note on the 1.4.1 SD card root thread suggesting that the hidden settings app could be installed using the adb (android development bridge.) I am going to try that when I get home later today.

That worked great. Just FYI both apps are pay to use now, but the worked perfectly.
I have rooted with no problem, but now I have 3 questions.
1) I can't get any .apk files to load. I get an error saying "This NOOK cannot read this file..."
2) in NT Settings, I can't get the unknown sources box to stay checked
3) Is there any way to put the android market apps on the home screen?
Thanks for any help!
I believe sideloading apks was blocked in 1.4.1.

That sucks! What about putting android market apps on the main screen of the NT?
There is a Nook Color app in the Android Market that does exactly that.

Most of this stuff is explained elsewhere in the forums . . . I know everybody says that, but believe me, it's true!
To get you started - - you can sideload apps on any rooted Nook:
(1) Get the NT Hidden Settings app (which you have)
(2) Goto "Hacks" - - tap "Unknown Sources Hack" Hit "Back"
(3) Goto "Application Settings" - - toggle "unknown sources"
(4) reboot the Nook
(5) Check in "NT Hidden Settings" . . "Applications Settings" . . to see if "Unknown Sources" is still checked. If not, repeat the steps above.
It's not unusual for people to have to do this 2 or 3 times to get the hack to "stick". Some people swear by toggling each setting on and off a couple times before rebooting. I know it's a PIA, but as far as I know everybody eventually get's it to 'stick' after a number of repeats.
Good news is, once you get Unknown Sources to stick, you won't have to mess with it again unless your restore to stock & re-root.
The "Nook Color Applications" app works well on the Nook Tablet, as noted above. You might also want to look at Go Launcher or ADW Launcher - they give you a new desktop with multiple home screens and other features, but still let you use the stock book reader, Netflix, etc. While some people here are using CM7 or CM9, a lot of people have really tricked-out the stock NT ROM with a 3rd-party launcher. I run mine like that, and I've actually liked it better than CM7.
But I'll switch to CM9 immediately once it's a bit more stable. ;-)
Best of luck!
awesome! I will try tonight. Right now, my two year old wont let me play with "his" nook. lol
Thanks, this forum is the best!
Hey there,
I've been having a similar problem. I recently rooted (using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1529553 method), and have been able to access the market and download apps that way, but I'm unable to sideload them. When I try to open any app it says "Unable to install. This application was not able to install onto your device. Please "Archive" and then "Unarchive" the application to try again." I have an SD card inserted, and this error comes up with the Amazon market, and the HomeCatcher app. My unknown sources box is checked though! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I believe veronica is currently recommending the "new" beta ( internal only for now ) made by CelticWebSolutions.

If you want to have Google play installed the easiest process to do now is to make a boot able cm SD card. CM10+ is the most recent so I recommend using it. There are also SDC versions of cm7 and 9. These don't affect your internal storage at all so the level of caution for bricking is low.
If you want to look into these SDC ROMs head over to the iamafanof site. There are links to the ROms and further instructions on how to create the cards.
