ROM, Kernel... - Folio 100 General

Hi, i have just bought this tablet, and i dont know what ROM is best to optimize for gaming. Can this tablet be overclocked, custom kernel is needed to make it better.
Or can u just post me things you suggest me to look on ?
Thanx.

Here you go
Cyanogen 7
Folio Mod
Folio Notion
Folio Blur
Folio Tnt-Ng
Folio TntMod
Now you should try wich one is best for you, personally cyanogen7 is the one i´m using, but it could not be good for you.
Try those and see for yourself, i know i did

FolioMod is best for gaming and it's stable. Mblaster made fernel with OC 1.5, search a little furum and you'll found it. It work with FolioMod.

Both thanx, ill try that folio mod with OC, its stable to have it overclocked ?

Can I root My phone Without installing custom rom after that ?

Hi i have been wondering for quite some time on wether if i am able to Root my phone using the One click root method (From Unlockr) and do nothing with it. Meaning i do not want to load a custom rom. Would the phone still work (Meaning Rooted"Able to do anything such as Overclocking and etc") ?
Btw have anyone tried overclocking the Hero and tried playing 3d game like Zenonia? Does it still lag with the volume on ?
Any tips to improve 3d gaming on hero ?

Yes you can root without using a custom rom, but usually only on some roms. There is a guide around here somewhere (check wiki) to "root a virgin hero"
You can't overclock the Hero any more than stock as it runs at the max, though someone has hacked a kernal now to make it run faster it is only available in one custom rom. So no, there is no way to improve gaming on hero, though various custom roms play better than others.
What u mean is that there is a rom to make game run faster? BTW Villian rom looks like a good rom but no screenies for me to see the screen i mean launcher(Sense Ui or Nexus launcher). Does the villian rom works perfectly meaning does the phone have all the feature working?
I heard that 2.1 roms are able to play multitouch gaming? does the villian rom support it? Over clocking is a yes for villian rom right ?

There is no ROM designed just for 3d game performance, however some of them do perform better than other in that area. Look at this thread about 3d performance http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=656818
VillianROM runs SenseUI and in my opinion very good. Very smooth and quick (it runs a lot quicker than stock 1.5 ROM's. Everything works on the phone with that rom loaded however the GPS can only only get a lock if you turn it on and reboot the phone (this might of been fixed in 5.3 i'm not sure)
Multi-touch should, in theory work on every ROM built from 2.0 onwards however in my experience the Hero Capacitive screen can be a little temperamental with it, however in answer to your question yes VillainROM does support it.
VillainROM isn't built off an overclocked kernel so no you can not over clock it. (the phone needs to be overclocked at kernel level not application) However as stated in the post above there is an overclocked kernel somewhere on here and someone has built a ROM around it if you can find it, check the wiki.
Thanks, Wez

Best Rom/Kernel

I'm about to get a X10 from a friend of mine, and was curious about what the best rom/kernel for the phone is.
So far it looks like cyanogen mod 7.0 is going to be the best thing I could flash it with, but it kinda bugs me that the camera doesn't work 100%.
I'm also hearing that 2.3 will be officially released soon, but knowing how my carriers usually operate with updates that will be 3 months till I see that.
Whats the closest thing to a vanilla android experience with full functionality?
or what Rom/Kernel are you using and why?
Wolfbreaks 009 isnt quite vanilla but is my favorite thus far. Has some new ported gingerbread features from achotjan and it's speed is unreal. I use it with the 3.62 kernel by goro, doomlords, and zkernel are all amazing. Just amazing all around, and if not that use erickwill's 2.1 ROM. When gingerbread comes out the camera drivers will be ported to gingerbread ROMs so you shouldnt worry about not getting a working 2.3 ROM
good to know.
If you're looking for some extra speed, take a look at Power To The People kernel. Overclocked to 1.2GHz, but might cause some instability, and fry the device if used for a long time.
I wouldn't want to overclock.
I don't see the point in doing it on smartphones, especially when the battery life is already low.
Right now im leaning towards cyanogen or ultima 4. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1095637
just finished rooting it, now im running titanium backup.
Then for kernel you might want to check out zKernel-failsafe, no overclock, no underclock. Stable and fast. The stock kernel is slow.
Just testeds both Wolf's and Ultima 5... got some tiny issues with 3G band on Ultima and I wasnt able to open the NFS Drift Game in both of them...
Tryed CM7 + custom Kernel with a good response, all of this using BB 67. The only trouble I got with CM7 was the slow response from GPS...
I might go back to Stock Eclair + custom Kernel till the update comes out...

I was looking at the CM7 Rom but was afraid that everything would be slow/laggy on the xperia.

[Q] What is the Best custom ROM for WiFI version retail TAB?

I need the camera so unfortunately I can't use CM9 yet. What is currently the best performing ROM out there (WiFi version). Not looking for anything fancy, just good performance, minimal lag etc etc.
I know this is a very subjective question.
Wow, I'd have thought there would be lots of opinions on this question!
Galaxy Task and Overcome seem to be the two most popular 3.2 ROMs, I've been running Galaxy Task for about a week now and it runs really well.
If you cannot do without the Camera I would recommend the Overcome ROM together with Pershoots over clock kernel. Been using these for the past two weeks without problems.

You'll have to try both of those and see which one performs the best for you.
As per me, Galaxy Task will be my first choice.
Overcome is also good.
Try BinDroid also if you want.
If you are fine with camera not working, you can flash CM9 Kang ROMs.
I'm running TASK 10 its relatively fast and smooth over 3000 on bench mark (OC'D) and some specific bloat meets my everyday needs. Depends what your fancy is !
Happy flashing !

[Q][Request][GB][SXS] Further Deveolpement

Hi foks
as i see, im not the only one whos goin back to Stock Gingerbread/Ka Rom. I (We) know that the Devs are hungry for new stuff, ICS/JB and develope for this Android Versions. But i Think, the Gingerbread from Sony (erricson) is one of the best optimiced Firmware for a Smartphone (in my Androidlife im playd with HTC Sense, Samsungs Touchwiz, His Ugliness form Huawai and some noname Products) - and, if we are Truth, since today, the Sony ICS Sucks: high batterydrain, the Look is like "take a bit of SEMC, a little bit of AOKP, match together and hope that it smells (but it doesn't) - its just unconsistent and in parts damn slow (you can smoke a cigarettet in the time that the Phone app needs to open).
But, the devs here made great stuff... i realy love the XSX Kernels from Mericon or the Krabbabels Karom works... but all this great stuff cant help that at the moment, Gingerbread is the best Solution for SXS. (maybee the CM will be good in to the future, at time, they are nice to look, have a great feeling, but not helping against Batterydrain, the same is for MIUI - looks damn great, but sucks battery like a junky).
so, it will be glad and great (and maybee also gives one or the other donation) if anybody (or a couple of guys/girls/freaks/whatever) can further deveolp for GB, mostly kernals will be interessting). I meen, i look to the options from XSX Kernel (Multicore Governors, 84mHz min. freq. deeper minimal settings for undervolt, undervolt Datamodule and so on) and i cant use this great ideas for GB.
So, please don't let Gingerbread Die on SXS as long the ICS is just bad optimiced Patchwork
press the thanks button if you agree with me

PS: excuse if my english not the best, but i red hoit boarisch und ned englisch
STFU.You asked in 1kk forums to make gb stuff.Forget about it and wait for ics bugfix release or use custom stuff...
Sent from my Xperia S using xda premium
that's funny.
tried a xperia s in the phone shop and it was fast!
for battery life: turn gps bluetooth off
don't use oc
chose abother kernel (then governer and i/o)
don't set brightness on max
that should help a lot
i agree with noob.fl

[Q]Software question

Hey,right now I have the latest Wanamlite rom (v5.8) and the latest Syah kernel.I think the Galaxy S3 is an exceptional phone with stock rom/kernel but it shoul be even better with custom roms and kernels wich have tweaks to improve the bad things found on stock.Right now I fell that the phone is not so good how it should be. It is so smooth but it have lags when launching apps or even Contacts,Messages or DialPad.Also, some games that were working fine on older phones are lagging and stuttering on the S3.What's the cause and how I can fix this ?
A good combo of rom/kernel for performance ? Please don't tell me that I should test and see which one suites me best. I want some opinions. Im going for performance>appearence.
Please test them out for yourself
This will be viewed as a best Rom thread, and because everyone's usage is different the only way of finding out what suits you is to try them out
Thread closed as its a best ROM thread.
