[Q] What do the possible values of Battery Status mean? - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi...
I left my Atrix charging overnight and when I woke up and unplugged it, I realized that Battery status said "Discharging", while normally I'm used to seeing "Not charging".
I've searched around and I know now that the possible values for Battery status are "Charging", "Unknown", "Not charging" and "Discharging".
But what I haven't been able to find is the difference between the last two. Is it bad for it to say discharging instead of not charging? What's the difference?.
Thanks

Charging Battery: Is the following normal?

Hi everyone,
I wanted to explain something about my phone's battery charging:
I have the phone down to 3% charge left and I plug it into the charger I have put
in a wall socket and let the juice flow into the phone.
The red light is solid BUT the battery icon on the Amaze 4G is showing as charging up= green bar fills up battery icon.
My question: Is this normal behavior for charging an almost dead battery?
BTW, The HTC rep I spoke to today said:
"You want to run the phone to next to zero battery life for the first few times and then charge it up."
Is this guy right?
Thanks and forgive the ignorance,

Yup. You want it to die completely and fully recharge it to calibrate the battery. You'll get the maximum life out of it basically.
The charging icon does that. It means it's charging lol. It's a fancy little animation. That's all.

[Q] 1% Battery problem

It happened to me today like when the battery was about 40%. Then, when I plugged in the charger the battery icon was at half of the icon. So, there was charge left in it. The, I pulled the battery and again reinserted it. Plugged it in. The charging led was red and the icon was blank as if there no charge in it.
Did anyone experience anything like this?
yes
me
my phone is always drops from 40% to 1% with any roms

Battery not charging in phone, will charge in cradle

I've started the habit of waiting for the battery in my phone to reach about 5 to 10 % before switching out the battery for the one I've charged in the cradle. This is all fine and dandy, but recently I've been unable to charge my phone just by plugging it in normally. I'll get notifications in the the battery indicator that it's charging and the quick charging notification in the drop down. However in the battery status menu in the settings it will say not charging. I'm using the stock quick charger and the stock cable to charge both my phone and the battery, though it only works in the cradle charger. I don't know if switching the battery relatively frequently is causing this problem and I just need to discharge this battery fully while in the phone as perhaps the phone is indicating a higher battery percentage then what is true. Either way I was wondering if anyone has either delt with this issue or has any ideas on what I should try to remedy this issue.
Thanks in advance.

Battery Calibration problem

Hello, I was told to post my question here. I'll just copy/paste:
I have a Samsung Galaxy Beam (GT-i8530) and recently it started to show weird behavior when it comes to the battery level. It drops really fast and takes forever to charge up to 60% and then jumps to 100% in a minute. It also happens that when I leave it charging it says 100% but the moment I remove the cable it shows a lower percentage such as 38% or 56% (it happened again today, I left it charging for almost 3 hours and when I checked it said 100% but when I removed the cable it changed to 34% and the warning message appeared telling me the battery was under 50%). At first I consider it to be a problem in the battery but Galaxy Beam comes with two batteries and the problem kept the same even after I've used the second battery.
I've searched around but everywhere I look it gives those charge/discharge cycles guide and I've tried that already but it didn't work at all. For one no matter how long I keep the cellphone charging, even if it says 100%, if I restart the cellphone it will starts with 94% instead of 100%. Is there anything else I can do to fix this? Should I try the charge/discharge cycle again? Could rooting my cellphone and doing the cycle calibration again but with a rooted device and the calibration app for it help instead of doing the calibration for unrooted devices or it's unlikely that will make a difference. I don't know what else to do.
Thank you.
Edit: It got worse. The battery was at 45% so i put it to charge. When I came back it actually dropped down to 28%. I tried to restart the cellphone and after I did it started with only 15% instead. I've checked the cables, the chargers and the USB door, there's no problem with any of those. Tho recently sometimes when the cellphone is charging it starts vibrating non stopping and it's not the cables contact because it does not show any message saying the cable disconnected.
HELP!

Question How to calibrate battery?

Recently when I've been charging my phone, it shows only up to 58% when I know its fully charged. It shows that percentage whether it is booted up or not. I have tried letting it die all the way and then charging it - and that yields strange results. Sometimes it shows at 58% then recognizes its fully charged and sometimes it just shows the 58%.
It could be due to me not having the original fast dual charger and using an asus singular fast charger but I couldn't find a replacement for the original that suited
Any suggestions?
Here's some stuff to read (quite old, though):
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...battery-on-your-device-root-non-root.3308554/
I remember having similar trouble, the stats were showing just inconsistent data (AFAIR, shutting down already at some 30%) and deleting that stats-file helped (at least I think so).
Other than: How about charging it at a "normal" USB-port from your computer?
PS: Perhaps some of your friends have a USB-meter like
https://lygte-info.dk/review/USBmeter RD Tech USB Meter TC66C UK.html
That way you could see how much of your phone's 5500mAh is really charged...
I got the same problem as well it only charges up to 58% isn't there any fix to this yet?
