[Q] gps not working in comm rom 1.3 - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am unable to get a gps lock with community rom 1.3. I wiped everything before flash, and have not made any mods.

I have the same problem, running the ED01 radio. I have to use GPS Aids to get a lock.

I didn't have a problem with 1.2. Does this have something to do with the kernel?

My GPS works fine in 1.2 and 1.3. Thanks to the modification of the GPS location file my GPS locks quicker than it ever did.

You may be on to something here.
I am running Imnuts 100uv with Ultimate Kangbang 1.3. Just checked my GPS and its insta-lock in my basement and holds fine.
You might try backing up and flashing the old OTB 1.2 or a different kernel.

Test Kernels From Adrynalyne (updated 1/21)

Hey folks, have two kernels that are begging to be tested. I do not know how they will work on DJ05, or DI01.
I started with jt1134's source code, added my own undervolt settings, and patched the source code with the changes from Samsung for DL09. These are not overclocked.

Edit: well it boots and that is a welcome change.... I joke I joke
Edit 2: test2 is working with no problems at all on DJ05 for me
Can we know what version/release date are these? I'm already using your kernel from CWM and I don't know if what I'm using is already this one.
This is from 1/15...as in today. The filename says it all. Also I dont see Adrenalyne's stuff on rom manager?
Trying the non voodoo one now - I was running your 12/30 kernel and loving it so this one should be awesome too!

ah ok, I got that release through an older DL09 thread.
Just flashed the Voodoo5 one without any problems, everything seems to be working great.
Gonna disable voodoo and install your superclean .4 then reflash this kernel, looking foward to the complete package
What has changed since 12/30 for the nonvoodoo? I am currently using that one.
Flashed non-voodoo, installed fine, seems to have a very responsive UI.

i flashed the nonvoodoo version on my stock dl09 firmware, and i have been getting strange bugs.. 1 is when the phone will temp freeze, screeen shuts off, and when it comes back on it rescans the sd card, and exits out of everything i had running. another bug happened twice whjile i was talking on the phone about 10 seconds in the phone temp freezed again causing me to lose my call.
Flashed the Voodoo5, running like a champ, like all your kernels do. Keep up the good work.

[Q] Changing Baseband Version (Radio)

I've been running each version of SuperClean (currently 2.7) since it was released by adrynalyne. In my limited understanding, I believe that changing a rom does not change the radio being used. My radio (baseband version) is currently listed as being DL09 (see attached). Is there a way of updating the radio and is there an advantage of doing so? If so, does anyone know where I can find the best/latest radio for the Fascinate that will work with SC? I think I read somewhere that one's choice of radio can affect GPS performance. My GPS is currently working really well. Does the radio affect battery life (currently not very good) or other things also?
You need eb16 or eb01 radio to use froyo, sc2.7. Sc2.7 is removed and 2.8 is out now. There is a all in one odin pack on andriodcentral that gives you root, cwr, and sc in one pack. 15 minutes and done.

Bob-o, not quite sure I understand this comment, since I'm running Froyo (SuperClean 2.7) just fine with my older DL09 radio. I guess I'd like to know if there's an advantage to updating the radio, or should I leave it as-is and just keep updating the rom?

The EB16 modem will not work with the VZW Fascinate. If you want to update the baseband, update to the EB01 baseband. You may get slightly better battery life, and reception will also probably change slightly, though probably not enough to really notice. To update, you need to find a tar with the modem.bin for EB01 (or whatever baseband you want) and flash it via Odin. See here for instructions on flashing.
I've heard from some users that the DL09 radio works better sometimes than the EB01 radio. Some have reported better battery life. I'm running the debloated deodexed stock EB01 with the DL09 radio and it works fine, although I'm not certain yet if there's any improvement or not.

Both DL09 and EB01 work fine with all versions of SC. There's really no reason not to flash, unless you're uncomfortable doing so (I assume this isn't the case, as you're running SC ). You might get slightly better signal or maybe better battery life. You also might get worse. You won't know until you try it.
If it doesn't work as good as DL09, no harm done, just flash it back.

[Q] What Kernel with ComRom?

What Kernel are you using with your ComRom 1.3?
I had the problem with the samsung bootloop when flashing 1.3
Solution was to flash the OTB 1.3 kernel.....
I am coming from Evil Fascination v3.5.1
with 0426-PBJ-100-uv-voodoo kernal
and Loved it.....
I have been hearing good things about CR v1.3 so i flashed it with the otb 1.3.
I tried my pbj Kernel and it didnt like that very much
SOOOOOOOO
What Kernel are you using with your ComRom 1.3?
By ODIN's Beard!
ComRom 1.3 comes with OTB 1.4. You flashed an older version over a newer version.
Yes because i was stuck on a boot loop. it would just stay on the Samsung logo and reboot. So the fix was to flash the older kernel.
is that it? really?
i'm currently running OTB 1.3 because i get the same bootloop "samsung stuck" with OTB 1.4
there has to be a fix
Many have flashed 1.3 with the built in kernal without issue. So, I guess you can't 'fix' something that isn't really broken.
Using 1.3 just the way it came didn't change anything except the voltage settings. Runs great on my phone.
1.3 with the included kernel(otb1.4) has been great. Tried the 1.5 kernel but couldn't get it stable on my phone.
Sent from my OTB Comm.Rominate
yes i found the asop pbj sv Voodoo worked just fine.
so i have been using that for the past few days on the com rom...
I am hoping for some GB lovins soon! lol
I had "heard" that there were issues with OTB 1.4. I too have had some stability and battery issues on 1.4, so I flashed back to OTB 1.3 and have been in good shape with that one.
But for some reason I cannot pin down, I seem to be hooked on trying the latest and greatest
FWIW, 1.4 I could run 1300mhz with rare issues. 1.3 1200mhz seems to be the max...

[Q] Which radio to use for BAMF 1.6.3 Remix Coming from BAMF GB 2.0.5

I am wanting to go back to 1.6.3 until a few more bugs are worked out on GB. I'm not sure which radio to download or how to tell which version I need LTE/CDMA, etc...
I keep getting random reboot's on BAMF 2.0.5 and the camera is very buggy. I checked out the manditory radio thread and I'm not sure which one I need. Please help so I can use my phone again.
Use tthe one that you can download in the bamf 1.6.3 thread........its in the first post.......
Oh yeah, Duh.... I forgot about that one i was looking here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1027804 and couldn't find anything about it, so thanks.
One more Q. Is there a certain order to make this work? I know with GB you have to flash rom first then pull battery and boot into Hboot for it to work. Can I do the same or do I need to flash the radio first then ROM?
Not sure about the order, but basically you can flash any of the Froyo (2.2) radios when using DasBAMF 1.6.3
I would honestly try downgrading to the 1.63 rom and seeing if the 4G stops working before flashing any of the radios. The gingerbread radio should work with 1.63.

I'm actually pretty sure it will not (haven't tested myself though).
Here is the radio thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1045081
The first one listed is the newest (2.2) one, which is also linked to in the DasBAMF 1.6.3 thread. Some folks have better luck with the other ones...
Any of the radios listed on this page should work with 1.6.3. If it were me, I'd probably get the ROM and radio saved to my SD card, flash the radio, reboot, then install the 1.6.3 ROM.
GB radios will not work with 2.2 roms, and the order doesn't matter for flashing back

Inb4flame:
1) Yes, you MUST use ODIN to go to any non-CM7 based ROM (any Samsung based ROM). Not to flash it though.
2) Yes, if you don't need GPS.
1. it depends what rom you are coming from. If you are coming from a non CM rom it is best to odin back to stock then flash CM7. Either way its always good to know how to use odin just in case things go awry
2. I only had cm7 for less then a day, but from everything I have read the only problems are the GPS and while on the phone sometimes you can not hear unless you mute then unmute. There is a trigger redux CM7 rom that has the GPS and mute/unmute fixed but the navigation still does not work as well. GB roms will most likely not be entirely stable until builds are released; however, the majority love CM7 so if you can deal with the minor problems I'm sure you will enjoy it as well. I am probably going to flash the trigger redux CM7 rom tonight so I can post back later and let you know how it is.
Can I flash something like bionix-v 1.3.1 after I flashed CM7? Is there a GPS fix?
you can flash the CM7 trigger redux which has a working GPS. And you would probably be better off odin back to stock then flashing bionix

You *MUST* odin back to jfd to flash *ANYTHING* Samsung based (I.e. anything not CM7/miui based, included in the CM7 list is trigger redux).
And as for gps fix, it's like the Samsung gb based roms, it works gut you have to go through some steps first, and if you want gps, you need to go with trigger redux.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
yes and yes but be very careful when you decide to flash a kernel on cm7 so be sure to keep a backup of everything handy and if you don't know how learn also if you want a working gps install the trigger redux rom
