Edit: Wish I could edit the subject to say "recommended", I know it's not REQUIRED
Just wondering if SetCPU is needed to access some of the "Smartass" features. I'm a total noob when it comes to rooting, and just installed the kernel yesterday.
So far I am loving the results but just wondering where the smartass features come in? I will install SetCPU if required. I want to use this kernel to it's utmost potential!
Thanks!

If you are running Das Bamf 1.6+, then you can use the toolkit in the ROM to switch the governor to smartass - no SetCPU needed. If you are running another rom, however, and want to change the governor to smartass (if it's not the default) then you will likely need SetCPU or NoFrillsCPU (not sure if that is the right name).
thanks for the reply. I am running stock rom with the kernel. I will spring for SetCPU in this case!

Using same kernel. I have mine overclocked all the way up (1497) on SetCPU using on demand scaling. Running BAMF remix 1.6.1. I've done this based on other members suggestions and loving it so far.
One more question, since I just installed the BAMF Remix ROM onto my phone:
since bamf has cpu control built in, which takes precedence? SetCPU or what I set in the BAMF toolbox?

You should really use the built in CPU Settings in the toolbox IMO you are just using more resources by using SetCPU.
And as for which one will override the other I believe it is just which one starts up first. If you have them both set the same you probably wont notice. Again though you are really wasting resources if you use SetCPU since this ROM has it built in.

Neither really takes "preference" - they both will adjust the CPU setting - such as, if you changed something in SetCPU and then went into the toolbox, you'll see that the changes were "made" there too. They both adjust the settings of the kernel, and both read the settings the same way.
I don't use SetCPU profiles, but if you do (like screen off, etc.) then those might take preference. But both will work the same, except that SetCPU has a few more "frills" like profiles and stuff. Like stated above, using the profiles will use more resources, however.
This app allows you to control your CPU voltages with an easy to use interface. You can increase or decrease voltages (undervolt or overvolt) for all frequencies or fine tune voltages for each individual frequency.

Any chances of a kernel to go along with this? Ziggy's didn't like my phone and I always liked your's on my old incredible

It might be a permissions thing. I tested on my own internal build. I'll look into it.
New beta posted that fixes compatibility with ziggy's kernels.
Thanks
Thanks for releasing app so fast Chad.
I enjoyed your work on my Incredible and I look forward to your work on the Rezound.
The app makes my life easier, and I've been tweaking it down bit by bit to see how much I can get this phone to sip.
Do you have any plans to do kernels? I'm using Ziggy's which seems to be running fine now (although i had a reboot earlier, but who knows why that happened).
I ran just your kernels religiously on my Incredible and enjoyed the performance and stability.
Regardly, thanks again for all the work you do bro.
Works great!
I would recommend for the Rezound screen size to make the buttons a tad wider. They are rather tiny on this screen and sometimes when i click the voltage adjustment button I click on the value input and go into keyboard entry mode. I have rather smaller hands so i would imaging its more annoying for bigger people.
other than that, great job.
Awesome app. I didn't know you had incorporated cpu controls into it

is the default setting the default setting for HTC Rezound without ANY modification?

I get random reboots on Ziggy's no matter what governor and clock speed.
It wipes dalvik cache when it happens too.
If i do a set cpu stress test, and let it sit there, eventually the freeze/reboot happens.
Something about how it's written.

I get it random reboots too, I tried many ROMs out and i still get them. The conclusion I get from it is that we have bad chips.
Ziggy mentioned it had something to do with the cache getting corrupted. Im wondering if regularly clearing it would prevent bootloops from happening

Hey Chad, I shot a pm your way.
Can I download these from my computer, transfer to my sd card and go, or do I have to boot it into recovery and go through another process, thanks in advance.

Hey guys
am currently running foxhound 1.42 and DSP manager...
am looking to know if anyone else has a better audio combination, i like LOUD volume (through my headphones while at the gym) but i like the music it be as clear as possible...... atm i am getting alot of distortion and the rom just doesn't seem as loud as when it was around 0.8
can anyone recomend a rom/kernal and sound manager combination to try?
thanks
calum
Did you install volume gain mod from aroma installer? With that your phone should be loud like crazy.
I use poweramp which has lots of audio settings. I believe there is a free trial on play store to try out. Or you can just flash siyah kernel where you can adjust audio settings in STweaks.
I am using Siyah kernel and its awesome...... Sound seems to be so much better than stock..... but can't compare to your current setup.......You gotta try it yourself.....
Why the holy stick so many people use word kernal not kernel??
slap siyah over whatever the rom you use and enjoy the sound
ok guys cheers gonna give
DragonICS Rebirth V3.6 a go it comes with SiyahKernel S3 v1.5beta6
is there anything else i should try / use to get louder volume some people have mentioned DSP manager and some power amp anyone wanna point me in the right direction?

You don't need another rom. Siyah kernel works fine with foxhound. What you need to do:
- grab latest foxhound
- go into recovery
- make nandroid
- Flash foxhound
In aroma choose:
- volume loud hack, yes
- Install Siyah kernel
After that you'll find stweaks app in drawer with lots of audio tweaks

Upgraded to latest AOKP rom. One thing I don't like about the S2 is the low headset volume when plugging in my headset w/mic. I tried accessing the service menu using the #*#*197328640*#*# but I get an MMI error. Is there a way to access the service menu on the latest AOKP rom? More importantly, is there a way to increase the default volume settings for headsets on S2's?
Thank you in advance
Yes. There are apps on the play store that do this.

Depending on the kernel that you use. Voodoo Louder works pretty well, I think it was $1.23, but it checks for compatibility before you actually by the function. It claims CM kernels are compatible when it does the check, I can't speak for all versions of this kernel, but from all the stock kernels with AOKP that I've tried it on in the last two weeks it has had no effect. With siyah kernels, I've had no problems with it. It boosts up to 6db. If you use siyah, extweaks app is free, but it only boosts 3 db, so not a significant gain, however the latest version 4.3 (which works great with latest aokp ROMs) might have some extra boost. I haven't given it a shot because I didn't really need to boost much more since I already have Voodoo louder, but it's worth some experimentation before buying Voodoo. Yes there are MANY apps, and some that are free, but I thought I'd save you the hassle of trial and error and let you know what does work. Other things might work better, so definitely feel free to try others out. Also DSP manager, you'll have to google for link to apk, I don't think it's here in XDA, works with an EQ, but when you jam them all the way up it doesn't sound quite right to me. I did not like it, but it has several EQ setting you might like with whatever sound system you're using, plus custom EQ. Boosting sound is really my sole reason for changing kernels, but with latest siyah and extweaks, there are a CRAP LOAD of other settings to play with. Eventually I'll get around to them. Hope this helps.
Power amp + ex tweaks. Power amp allows for an increase of I think 6 db if I remember right
Or install Awesome beats + Siyha kernel + extweaks.
You can found the first 2 on mrRobinson Aroma from themes and apps section.

Played with the recent updates in Siyah kernel (in ex tweaks)... The volume boost is pretty damn beast now. Voodoo Louder is pretty much obselete. The headphone amplifier is indeed 6db now, plus the next slider down is an 'analog' boost that goes up 20db....ridonkulous homie... I'm loving it!

Thanks for the tip to use EX Tweaks. I was actually having the opposite problem, headphone volume too loud. Was having to keep it at just 1 click above totally off. Now I can keep it at the mid-point, with plenty of headroom to adjust when moving to louder/quieter environments.
I've been looking for a while now, and I can not find a sweep to wake kernel that is compatable with ViperDNA 1.3.5. Can anybody point me in the right direction?
Maybe search the Viper thread or post the question in the Viper thread
Oh where are you Dsb!
im using this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2021714 but the downloads area has gotten kinda confusing this is the one you want http://nosroms.com/getdownload.php?file=DNA/Kernel_4.1.2/Blackout-Viverrine-B5.9.zip as fas i know that's the last version of that kernel to support 4.1.1 which viper is atm. then i just choose defualt when installing and then in viper tweaks under lockscreen enable sleep to wake and if you dont want your capactive buttons to blink for notifications use tricksters mod on google play.
The black out kernel has working sweep to unlock

I use default setting when flashing then don't bother changing it and run what ever default is. It gets me heavy usage around 10 hours and lite usage around 1 1/2 to 2 days at down to 10 percent. Here's a pic of what in atm keep in mind at home in constantly on wifi so I would consider it lie usage even if I'm using it a lot.
