Hi davzava,
I haven't used the community rom 1.3, but since nobody answered ... looking at the .zip it contains the backupassistant.apk . You could try reflashing (with or without wiping) the whole thing or extract it from the rom. I also noticed they released some patches (1.1 and 1.2) that included the backupassistant, you may be able to flash those? I'm not sure.
Hope thats helpful, maybe someone more knowledgeable can also answer

Is that what you are looking for? You can always flash an root it yourself. There is a one button tool.

You will more thank likely have to go back to true stock using Odin. I do not think there are any roms that include root access with them. Root acess is what allows you to flash a rom as well as gain super user access to the device.
Here is a link to a true stock 2.1 rom, Flashable via odin only. http://www.mediafire.com/?8kw71bx06an0vwg
Ok thanks guys I tried to restore to my back up but it soft bricked I guess.... kept looping in boot up.....but before I did anything I download nero3...so went into recovery mode and load that and WOW! I love it....same feel as original rom so far as I can tell but with 2.2 and some sweet changes

Hi guys, need some help on how to do this. I've done a LOT of searches on the web and on here specifically. All instructions online seem to vary (phone to phone) and even within the x10.
So, if anyone would care to help me (and any other people that may need it) on how to install this (on Wolbreak's ROM) step-by-step; I would be EXTREMELY grateful!
Thanks guys.
U know that data2sd is unstable. But the link is in wolfbreaks ROMS link in development section. Look for it there

i want to know how to REMOVE it, i wanna see if theres really a difference or if im just convincing myself there is.
since it seems some ppl it lags and some it doesnt.
so can someone tell me how to remove data2sd ?
I honestly don't know how to remove it other than reflashing your current rom then restore your apps with titanium backup
Sent from my X10i using XDA Premium App
So, any defintive way or steps that one would follow on how exactly this would be installed?
Last time I was trying out data2sd the guy who posted instructions said that you can stop using it just by renaming or deleting the data image, I'm not sure what's it called but for me it was in xrecovery folder on sd card.

What is the best way to make a full backup/image of my Photon including the operating system? I currently use Titanium to back up all files and apps but I need to back up the OS too.
Does the ROM Manager from the Android Market work on the Photon?
NANDroid is best way.
IF you aren't unlocked, use the CWM bootstrap recovery.
If you are unlocked, use the Clockword Mod Recovery to NANDroid.
Restore NANDroid via the method you used to create it.
ROM Manager currently does not support the Photon. There are tweaks to make it work with the photon, I believe, but those require an unlocked device and some complicated tweaks.

Are you referring to these instructions (link)?
If so, is everyone using this method to backup locked Photons?

Nandroid works great and if you just want to back up your apps after you get your setup use titanium backup assuming you have root at that point.

Is there anyone here that is willing to upload their nandroid backup of the stock Photon rom? I know it's not a good idea the thing is I only need it to get a few files from to fix my current corrupted stock rom.

What files do you need?
I need the folder that is in the CWM folder that contains all the other folders for the complete nandroid.

For a full backup it's takes about 20mins to do. It will be about a 500MB ultra compressed zip and about 2GB extracted so I'll need some time. Also, if you intend to restore from it don't be surprised if you MAC addresses get hosed.
What release do you need? 198_6 or 198_7?
I need 198_6. I understand it would take some time and be a pain in the but so I understand if you don't wanna do it, but it would really help me out. Would I need to worry about losing my Mac address if I restore from my nandroid once I get what I need from yours?

As long as you're only pulling files you should be fine. I'm uploading right now it will take about 20min. Click on the banner in my sig, this will take you to my site. You can find it in the downloads section. You are going to have to use 7Zip to extract it.
I have it fixed now. Thank you very much.

I've always used nandroid. Just keep in mind it takes a lot of memory per back up.

Ya it works. I made several battery mods and changes with it. A very helpful tool that saves u from manually moding the images. You should try it. It works perfectly.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777
You first need a kernel with ClockWorks Mod in it in order to be able to flash the kitchen output to your phone. If you don't know what this means then you need to start reading up on it before you try to do anything with the kitchen.
And a search would have led you to this existing thread on the subject.

I know i need CWM and I'm running entropy's kernel so I'm good to go there, just wanted to make sure it would work on our phone!
Thanks guys
Kitchen definitely works! I made up a bunch of battery mods for stock rom a while back with no issues.

I personally think that a bunch of people who come across custom roms for their 4.0 galaxy players ask themselves this question, "why aren't there very many roms for my device that are simply flashed through clockwork recovery?" Is it because this device is not very popular? Is it because not very many people know how to put a custom rom in a cwm package? In no way do I want to sound rude, but when I have to flash multiple things onto my device from my computer in order for the tomorto work right as well as not brick my device, it just ruins it for me. There is nothing wrong with roms that require a computer to install, but I personally think that with all those instructions that might not be too clear on what you are support to do, something is bound to go wrong.

This is not that it can't be done, but it the case of ics for the 4.0, it's a bug in the kernel that force us to flash a kernel from heimdall. If this bug was not here, the rom would be simply flashed with cwm. So the answer is it's not because dev don't want to do it like this, it's because they can't.
Couldn't they fix it?

They don't fix it because they don't know what is broken, this is not a choice. This is not that easy to find what is causing a bug and to repair it. You should be a little more thankful of what you already have because without them there would be no custom rom and no recovery. If you really want it so bad just go ahead and fix it then share it with the dev and they will include it.

The problem is that the param.lfs isn't getting updated, probably because their kernel isn't compatible with Samsung's proprietary param.ko (so the bootloader still thinks you're in recovery). If it's not, there's nothing that can be done about it. If it is, they should include that module in the ramdisk. and insmod it with init.rc, and the recovery bootloop will be gone.

You seem to know what your're talking about, maybe you could explain this to zaclimon, the last time I tried to help him he was trying to change the onenand driver so the device have the good partirion layout. It would be nice to get rid of that bootloop.

Well, that's part of it too. I think on the 4.0, the problem may be more complicated than that, due to it's storage layout, (I have the 5.0) but rest assured the devs are working on it.
Please let me know when they fix this bug what I need to do from there.

There's this but mostly because we change the partition (we completely ditch the j4fs support). Also the bootloaders expect to run BML/STL partitions so the bootmode isn't cleared. The thing that teamhackung made is that they created a partition named reservoir that would handle all the bad blocks. This partition is used to flash the boot partition which is the kernel one. This is still an undergoing experimentation for me but I'll try to compile a CM9 with this new type of flashing. An example of the partition layout is here:
https://github.com/CyanogenMod/andr...ung-3.0-ics/drivers/mtd/onenand/samsung_gsm.h
I may miss some things too but this is the things simplified.
Also NATO I do know how you feel about it and I'm trying to do my best (with han and oisis gone) to solve everything as soon as I can. (Don't forget that I have school too )

there are 2 or 3 more ROMs that are CWM zips but there based on the OLD CM7 port and with no deep sleep there not worth the time IMO (not the Porting DEVs fault, it was a known issue of the CM7 base).
