ok my pull down toggles don't seem to have any effect when tapped. anyone have any thoughts?
of course i wiped as recommended and used clockworkmod to boot into recovery mode to flash the rom.
and i assume (since they are apparently not functioning as intended) they are left to right wifi bluetooth network gps ???(not certain the funcition of 5th from left) and volume controls.
thanks
mark.
Did you try to select the settings in the power control app?
i dont see anything there that could possibly affect my situation. what am i missing?

I've now fallen in love with the CM Nightlies since I got an external GPS unit. I am noticing that since this most recent Nightly, when I pull the status menu down and attempt to set the volume to mute it does not change it. It works from the Settings>Sound menu and from the Phone Options screen. Obviously no big deal, but TIA to anyone who may have an answer as to why. Maybe something in the Kernel???
Background:
I started off with with stock ROM + Root. I then applied the 14 toggle Mod. I've also applied a battery meter mod from UOT. I've recently flashed Mikey's S8 ROM which if my memory serves, had the CRT(?) animation when locking the phone. Well I decided that I was more of a fan of the 14 toggle mod than the one that Mikey included in his ROM (just personal preference). I applied the 14 toggle mod after flashing S8.
Problem:
If I hold down the power button, my phone appears to perform a 'soft' reboot. It looks like my launcher crashes which causes the reboot possibly. I get no menu when holding the power button down, just the crash. I also have no animation when pressing the power button to lock the screen.
Is there anyway to resolve this without reflashing S8?

Unless you are very technically inclined and have a lot of extra time to waste
there is no way to resolve this issue unless you reflash the rom.
Reflashing the rom is by far the fastest, easiest and the most sure way
to resolve your issues.
I was hoping there may be a couple files that I could replace and flash. I'm fairly technical, but still learning the ins and outs with Android. My only Qualm with reflashing is running into the same issue with the Battery Mod and 14 toggle Mod.

I can tell you one thing for sure, and that is that the 14 toggle mod
is NOT causing the problem at all. I use it all the time and I also
use the UnNamed 1.04 custom rom.
So most likely it's the Battery Mod which is causing the problem.
I use the blue neon digital battery mod with my phone which works great.
Try to install/flash a different battery mod see what happens.
Good Luck!
Hi guys
I have problem with my g tablet screen, 80% of time when screen goes off (regardless is it timeout of screen or by shot press on power button) it won't came back untill I restart device.
For example I am listening radio and screen timeout takes place, I am still getting sound but no meter what - screen is not coming back unless I press and hold power button and device restarts. I am running calkulin 1.1 rom.
Anyone......?
Known issue with most ROMs. Search for SOD.

I, too, would've said that this was a SOD problem, but, then you said this:

What happens if you play music using the standard Android music app and the screen times out while playing? Can you switch the screen on?
Suggestions:
On the current ROM, try a different kernel.
On the current ROM, if you install Jack Palevich's Android Terminal Emulator, you can "Take Wakelock" and then minimize the app to keep the tablet from going into suspend. Or, install one of the many apps from market designed to do the same thing.
On the custom GB ROMs, you can wake the device up by pressing the volume rocker after you enable Settings > VEGAn-TAB/CyanogenMod settings > Input > Volume rocker wake. Install a GB ROM.
Thanks. I read it somewhere that could be hardware issue and I unrooted device so I could maybe contact Viewsonic if 6 months is not too late. I will root it again and try this tonight.
I got permission denied for terminal emulator "Take Wakelock", tried with su not working either
I am running Calkulin 1.1 and not having BG options for sound
Most of other ROM's I tried for this dumb device are not working for me

That's a very odd error. Uninstall, then reinstall the terminal emulator app and update to the latest version of the Superuser app.
It might be simpler to just install one of the wake lock holding apps from market, though.

with out sod problem
Thanks for any reply's in here. I sent tablet to Europe as gift (after applying those options, item was fine for 3-4 days).
This really should go in development but the post count thing is nixing that.
My evo 4g lte is htcdev rooted, and I have twrp 2.1.8 installed as recovery.
Had queued zips to install viperrom elite 1.2 and 1.2.1, the progress bar is churning along, but the console hasn't moved on from "setting permissions", and is still on file 1 of 2, yet it's been a good 25 minutes... I get the feeling something's wrong, but without the ability to battery pull, I don't really know what to do.
The phone is not frozen btw, clock keeps updating, hitting power button brings up lock slider etc, just don't know how to cancel the install because it seems like it's taking a crazy amount of time.
Anyone have any ideas?
EDIT
Sigh nvm, looks like this was premature, apparently the problem was with queuing the zips as I suspected.
Also, apparently, the force reset involves holding down power button until buttons start flashing then simultaneously holding down the camera button for a bit as well. At least that seems to work for me.
I notice that the double click of the power button still opens the camera in nougat and now there doesn't seem to be a way to switch it off. I've accidentally triggered this twice, hit home to close camera, then pressed the power button to switch off. Soon after on both occasions the phone has partially rebooted in my pocket, sticking on the Wiley fox boot logo.
Anybody else confirm this behaviour? Not something you do everyday I guess......
Hi Ratbags, I tried it for you... I never noticed that tapping the power button twice starts the camera, but indeed it does; however my phone didn't reboot (so it also didn't get stuck).
Hallo ratbags, i can confirm this behaviour in my Swift 2 Plus with Nougat Android. Noticed that randoms reboots some while ago and with your hint about power double click i am able to reproduce it.
To switch it off
Go to parameters
Use the search option and search gestures
Click on Gestures and then you'll find the option you are looking for

Thanks for that. I believe Wiley fox are bringing out an update to fix this issue. Strange you can only get to that setting by searching or is it hidden away somewhere deep in a settings submenu?

I didn't find it anywhere else so I think it's hidden
There's others hidden menu (and some are not even working at all - like battery percentage). I think that it's the trace of some modifications of parameters that weren't done correctly, or those parameters were disabled because the option didn't work well.
With latest update Build no. TOS118C the Gestures are available in Options Menu. The "not quite random reboot" seems to befixed too. Tested it several times and got no reboot since 3 hours.
Was just scanning the forum for any reports of random reboots as I've also been having reboots and it hanging on the white WileyFox logo screen.
Have noticed it more since the more recent official updates and have even gone so far as a full factory reset, however, I've had the issue reoccur several times since then (reset done earlier in week) so will be interesting to see if disabling that camera gesture will help
Beyond that I'm thinking possibly a corrupt or "worn" SD Card as I have a MicroSD card, used to extend the internal storage, that I think I used for a year or so in my previously Swift so possibly suffering some mild wear....
