uninstall kindle app? - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am running MR1 and am using super manger to remove my bloatware. I can not get the kindle or rhapsody apps to uninstall. I have moved both apk's from the app folder and removed the folders in their name from the SD card. Yet they are still in my app draw and working. Any ideas what I am doing wrong? I was able to remove all the Verizon crap I didn't want so I know I am doing the right steps.

What files exactly did you remove? Where were they stored?

The files I moved were kindle-oem 1.1.1.90750089-20100927.apk and vzw_rhapsody.apk, also removed two folders that were on the SD card named after both apps. I moved them all to a folder on my SD card which I made and named bloatware should I need them again for some reason. The other apps I removed are also in the bloatware folder.

I removed both of them via adb.. and they don't show up anymore.

Have you rebooted after you removed 'em?

Yes I have rebooted. I will reinstall and remove with adb to see if that will work.

Well found my issues. Turns out that both apps were updated. I uninstalled the updates and they not longer show in my app draw.

Can I remove them some how?i have root explorer so can I just go to system/app and delete them?

If you have rooted your phone, you can do it with Titanium Backup. Just be extremely careful what you delete. I believe there is a list of safe things to delete floating around on the Cyanogen mod forum. Shouldn't be hard to find with inspector Google.
Bloatware would be anything that is not a stock android apk. Be careful not to delete anything that has to do with google or you will be sorry. I forgot the url but there is a master list of all the apks you can delete. Just google "android apk stock list"

Its probably best to just move the apks into a separate folder on your sd card rather than deleting them. The that way if you mess up you can just move it back into the correct directory. Or if you change your mind.

to the OP, I gave instructions in the sticky if you want something to reference. I agree with ^, I used Root Explorer to copy all of the files and then pasted them in a folder on my SD card. Then went back to system apps and deleted them, rebooted, good to go. I also gave a list of everything that could be deleted.
Samsung galaxy sgs2
Samsung GS2 GT19100
Hey guys Im sorry if this is not supposed to be here, But I really need some advice.
I just recently bought a SGS2 in Canada with Bell Mobility and I was able to root my phone so that I could unlocked it. However Since I did this every time I turn on my phone I get a Yellow Triangle with and exclamation mark. and also this mark is on the top left corner of my home screen but very tiny. Now the phone works like a charm nothing is wrong, but I want to know if there is some way I can remove that from my power up screen and from the home screen?
And my last questions would be, Now that I have unlocked my phone can I unroot it? or will this locked my phone again?
Thanks .

+1 Op this is probably the best way to do it. Plus if you ever need to put the apks back, all you got to do is move them back, wipe dex and cache and reboot.
One thing that I usually do is use TBPro to freeze it first and see if there are any adverse effects. Did you know that gTalk works with the market? If you delete gTalk, you may see some wierdness with the market. If you just froze it, then you can thaw it out and move on.
My question is can we delete the odex files singly or do they have to be deleted in pairs with the apk?

Safely remove stock apps?

Is it safe to remove apps like the stock messagging / email apps? Maybe someone with any know-how could comprise a list of apps that can be removed without screwing the phone up. I know when I had my X10 some systems apps couldnt be touched or you would completely uker your phone.

systemappremover 3 does a nice job.
need root for it to work.
i uninstalled zing & copilot with it and it did a good job.
i also used adfree to get rid of advertisements.
Is using systemappremover the same as using root explorer and just deleting the .apk of the app you want removing? Or are there other parts to the app in other folders?

my icons have gone maaad :|

i'm having problems with some of my apps, they are listed as installed in my app manager, but they are missing from my app drawer and their shortcuts from my home screen just looks like the default .apk icon, but they are running properly. :| how can i fix this?

this happens due to sd card unmounts. the apps installed on your sd card will be affected.
possible fix: move them to phone memory, restart phone, move them back to sd card.
if that does not work, create their backup using astro and reinstall them.
so you mean to say that there's a problem with my card?

Download Titanium Backup from the market, this will uninstall the .apks that you want to get rid of.

Any other app that does the same? I don't want to spend $6.50 Just to delete a couple of things, I'll only use it to delete like 5 things.. seems like a waste.
I downloaded the free one and it says it'll delete the app/reboot twice etc.. but it doesnt delete the app or reboot twice, Only restarts the phone
Don't use the 'force remove app' option then, just cliick the one you want to delete in the list and click uninstall.

Ok, but it's not that simple, you can't delete everything without consquences, search for the list of files that can be deleted without harm, from your specific ROM!

Was .DinerRush important? Root explorer

I was deleteing junk apps from sdcard/app_manager/app_backups/user_apps cause of tapjoy
And I realised my space was still less than before using tapjoy
So I deleted .DinerRush folder from sdcard. It took about 10 seconds and freed up .06 gb so I was concerned it wasn't something left over from a tapjoy game, but might have been important?

Anything in SDcard can be removed with the exception of clockworkmod folder unless you want no back.
I have so many folders in sdcard and I know some of the apps I use-use them, but what about the crap ones from junk apps that didn't clear out with an uninstall?

Remove them, if you want move everything to your PC.
Run your apps and see if anything is missing then find it and transfer it back.
Also you can just delete 1 by 1...it depends on how you want to go about it.
My PC has been down since Oct/Nov 2011, I was having fun with adb too
I did order a USB micro to female USB otg host. Maybe I can use that with flash drive
