[Q] make phone force-roam - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I know there are a million threads about this...on non-thunderbolt forums, but still, can anyone tell me if there is a way that I can force the phone to roam on the 'Extended Network'. Hopping between networks is killin my battery.
A friend of mine with the same phone tried that app to no avail, and he's looking for a solution too.

I am interested in this as well. I need to figure out a way to force roam on my HTC Thunderbolt since I am unable to manually update the PRL. If anyone has figured out a way to do this, I would appreciate the help!

[Q] Data config for HTC Evo on Telus Canada

Hi guys,
I am seeking help to configure data connectivity on my HTC Evo running on Telus Canada. Voice and SMS work flawlessly but data is no go.
The one key thing that I've noticed is that the HTC Evo doesn't seem to have an APN config option. I have tried to re-adapt different configuration but I've had no luck so far.
If anyone is using HTC Evo on Telus in Canada, your knowledge and experience will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Hey how are you?
I have been looking around to see if anyone successfully is using the HTC Evo under Bell or Telus for a while now!!! I really wanna buy this phone from the states and use it in TO.
Was it hard to get it working under telus? Have you resolved the issues with the data yet?
I d really appreciate the help, thank you!
Me Too I want to buy the HTC EVO and I want to ask if it was easy to activate it under Telus
Hey guys,
Sorry I hadn't updated this thread. I now have HTC Evo working on Telus. Voice, SMS and Data. I initially had problems with slow data but with slight tweaking, I now have up 1700kbps download and 800kps upload speed. I feel so alive with this phone right now. Only glitch that I need to find a way around is not being able to use data while taking a call. Kinda dumb limitation but it doesn't bother me. I rarely use my phone for calls.
So yeah, get to work guys! The dream is indeed possible.

PS: First do your research on how to get Voice and SMS working or PM me if you need guidance, then we can start talking about Data in this thread. Godspeed!
I know this is an older thread (September) but I just wanted to re-check because no other forums posts anywhere ain Canada have anyone using an EVO on Telus. From what I ujnderstood, the CDMA format wasn't really unlockable and interchangable, so the DREAM PHONE EVO was out of our reach. Your news is exciting, but hard to believe. Can you offer any more details at all? Does Telus support foreign unlocked phones? WOW. if so.
Sorry to revive an old thread but I have the same problem as the first post on my EVO. Talk and SMS works great but I have no data at all... No 1x, no EvDO. What do I need to do to get it work? It's a great phone but I need my data connection.
I am fairly at ease with tools like QPST and QXDM so don't waste your time overexplaining things!
From what I understand, typically I am supposed to have at least 1x data without any username/password, just get authenticated by the network. Howerver it is not the case. No connection.
Please help me.
Any one have any thoughts?? Im having the same no data problem on bel i got it to the point once where it authenticated and then said protocoll errors. have not been able to get it to that point. and im ready to almost give up ;(

[Q] Full 4g data working, but not voice

Ok, so i'm new to this whole android thing and came up on a TB. Sorry for the noobness of this...i did a search, but couldn't find anything relating to my problem. hoping someone could give some advice.
I tried to activate it the other day and it took some time to activate(i guess Verizon's network was down), but the 4g LTE was fully functioning. Phone was recognized on my account at verizon and everything checked out.
however, when i tried to make a phone call, i got the message 'welcome to verizon wireless. your phone number is not active or invalid'. one thing i did notice was the roaming triangle above the signal bars. btw, i did try contacting verizon and they didn't know what was going on..they kept blaming the downed network.
i couldn't get it to work so i had to switch back to my whackberry.
Anyone know what the problem is and how to activate it? any advice would be awesome!
thanks for the help in advance!
Might need a new sim card...

i tired two sim cards already...no luck.

[Q] Flash Fascinate from VZW to MetroPCS?

Hi, Might sound stupid but I was wondering if anyone has any info on whether this phone can be flashed from Verizon to Metro, and if so would anyone be able to tell me how to do this? I've flashed custom ROMs but never from one carrier to another. I understand I will also have to have the ESN added to Metro inventory before the phone can be activated. I was also hoping maybe someone could point me to a reliable (and hopefully cheap) service for doing so since the clostest Metro corporate store is over an hour away.
Thanks in advance for any and all help and info. If this has been posted/answered before, I'm sorry. I Googled and searched here and other large phone forums and found lots of posts for flashing other phones and lots of dead end links.
Also nice would be some info on restoring web and MMS on this phone. Again, Please and Thanks in advance.

PRL problem, stuck in 3G

Background: I did something stupid on a recent business trip and now I'm afraid I've permanently messed up my SIM on my Note 2.
After experiencing poor 4G reception a coworker suggested I tried dialing *228, option 2, to update my roaming capabilities. I've used this method on many previous Verizon phones so I didn't hesitate to do so. Little did I know (I should have researched first) that this wasn't necessary on an LTE phone.
What's happened now is it appears my phone is stuck in 3G mode. I've tried going into my network settings (currently running the Liquid Smooth 2.7 ROM) to toggle between network modes and haven't had any luck. I've also tried pulling the battery and SIM for a few minutes without any results there either. I didn't have any luck finding the right "phone info" app (the ones I find on Play aren't what I've seen in some of the tutorial videos), so I'm at a dead end there as well.
I've searched on XDA and around the web and have come across a couple of muddied solutions, but right now I'm seeing my only options as:
- Wait 90-180 days for the PRL on the SIM to update automatically.
- Contact Verizon and request a new SIM
- Attempt to use some intense developers tools to plant my own PRL (if so, does anyone have a good tutorial link or a good PRL to use?)
I could really use some expert advice on how to tackle this problem, or at least some insight as to what my possible solutions are. I'd appreciate any help anyone can offer.
Thanks in advance.

Have you tried going back to a stock romantic and seeing if you can switch networks back? Or maybe reflashing the radios/modem see if that does anything?

You are going to have to get a new SIM, using *228 burn the SIM up and you're lucky you even pick up any service with it, just go to a Verizon store and tell them what you did, the *228 part not rooting and romming, and you need a replacement SIMA because it messes your phone up. It will be free.
The only acceptable way to update it on LTE phones is to take the SIM out, boot the phone back up, let it sit for 5 or 10 minutes, power off, reinsert SIM, reboot phone. That's the only one I know of, there may be other ways to do it but that is the easiest.

is this a software defect? is anyone else plagued with this curse?
i need help, why are you ignoring this?? i need to know if anyone else has the same issue.
