So I've been using gb ROMs for a while ever since they got to be stable enough for daily use and the one thing that I've noticed at least for me is that the wifi doesn't work, which is a bummer because I use wifi constantly at home. The two ROMs I've used claimed that the wifi works but it Just doesn't for me. I've used both J's and R's gb ROMs. They both say authenticating when connecting to a wifi network but thats as far as they get. I'm also using the custom kernel 008 if that helps at all.
So pretty much is there an easy fix for this or am I just out of luck?
If I am correct, that specific custom kernal you are using at the moment wont let you use wifi. R's Rom if you are referring to Rendeiro2005 I know his wifi works since I used it without the custom kernal before.

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has figured out how to enable wifi calling on mik's cm7?
It was an option on the original froyo build.

would like to have that one myself
I've been using his build for awhile now, but I cant post in the dev thread, even though some really dumb posts wind up in there.
Maybe someone will see this and mention in the dev thread.
I know that josephmothers rom Ubuntodroid has the t-mobile wifi calling built into it.
That rom is so much better than stock. I tried out the CM7 beta 3 here and the lack of wifi calling makes me cry when I have to reinstall Ubuntudroid.
CM7 is the most versatile rom out, yet it doesn't support wifi calling such as the LG P509 T stock rom

anyone know if this would work?>
What is the best kernel that I can use on the generic 2.1 firmware that has WiFi and gps working?
They have not fully developed any "good" kernals yet, just alphas. It's a work in progress and do not think any are compatible with the generic 2.1
For now with your needs stock is best option. Lots more work to be done yet ;-)

Ok just wanting to make sure because the lag gets kinda annoying.
Il be honest from my experience iv had using custom kernals, yes they do help with speed and help the phone feel less laggy but youl get much more out of flashing a custom rom with all features working, say a froyo one like zdzihu 2.2 beta 4 or wolfbreak or even miui. Custom kernals are still very much a work in progress. You could even try out some of the kernals avaible on froyo, i dont think any have been made for 2.1 yet and you may find the custom kernal may break the wifi or gps. Tbh id suggest just try changing your rom and if you need a hand flashing it or basebands iv put together a great guide in my signature

I agree with Gingerbread Man. Most if not all 2.2 ROMs have been thoroughly developed and have been really smooth. I was running the generic 2.1 for awhile and flashing 2.2 ROMs made my life so much easier because they are really smooth with little to no errors. Try flashing a 2.2 ROM. It will be worth your while =)
I was just wondering how CM7 is working on the Thunderbolt now. Heard that for some it's stable enough for everyday use. Anyone who is running it, how is it? How's the battery?
Same battery as before, but it seems to last longer.
I've been using it as my daily driver for well over a month now without any issues!
Does the GPS lock quickly?

For me it does, usually within a few seconds.

It's come a long way and can easily be a daily driver.

Well thanks for the input, I'm going to flash it tonight and see how it goes
I have been wondering about trying this as well. Kind of new to the custom roms, so I've been a bit hesitant to try something that isn't stable.
Right now, it's perfect to be used as a daily driver. I haven't encountered any issues at all on RC 1.3.
I love CM7 so far. I'm running it with the .627 radio, and it is very nice. GPS does not work though, and that is pretty standard for AOSP Roms. I know there is a trick where you need to flash a stock rom(or some other HTC Sense based rom) and obtain a good GPS lock with that, then flash back to your CM7 backup afterwards.
My nandroid backup (the only different ROM backup I have right now) is froyo, and I don't think it will work with the radio I have installed, and I don't really want to have to flash a radio as well, so I'm not sure which sense based ROM I should flash. What is the best Sense ROM with the .627 radio right now? das BAMF?
Everything seems to be working for me and has been working good for about two weeks. I did the sense gps lock trick before flashing CM7. I have the latest radio installed and used bamfs to get gps to lock.

my bluetooth doesnt work on my sgs2..
im using MIUI ROM 1.9.16.
Recently im flashing another kernel
SIYAH KERNEL V2.0..
PLZZ HELP ME !!
didnt think bluetooth worked on miui or CM7 roms at the moment?
Yeah, I'd suggest flashing a different rom that actually supports the full features of the phone. Not too sure why anyone with a beautiful SGS 2 would want to make their phone look like an iphone...my 0.02
Last I check MIUI was having issues with BT. Never expect a third party ROM to always work. If you're worried about stuff like that I'd stick to stock.
CM7 does have BT working.. unsure about MIUI
Guys, go to the official MIUI website, sgsII is official now and BT works on mine, with sound

Bionix V by fishman or any custom 2.2 support wifi calling if you flash WIFICALLING.ZIP only work on froyo. But I recommend Bionix V by fishman
I think the answer to the OP is no.
i've asked same about this handset and a few others - no fly zone apparently [that is, >2.2]
