Is it possible to install OLYEM 2.1.1 in ME860? - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I currently live in China (I am not Chinese) and I am interested to buy this phone.
The device is not exactly the same from ATT. The version is ME860 instead of MB860. It seems that the difference is regarding the 4G hardware.
I just wonder if the method explain by seven2099 in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1070076 is working also for the Chinese version.
How can we know if it is possible to install GreyBlur and hack (Full ubuntu,HDMI...) on ME860?
Does someone already tried?
I don't want to buy something I am going to be lock with. I don't want MotoBlur, and I wish to get the Full Ubuntu.

it is workable. and I do it already. but first of all, pls use cwm to back up your system.

1. how could it be done? just follow the guide to flash 2.1.1?
2. could greyblur rom work?
3. any abnormal or mulfunction? gps still work fine?

U will find that RADIO Baseband become : N_01.92.00R,
(There are no original HK sbf file), so can't flashback N_01.91.00R.sbf
But dont worry, 1.92 are workable, and I try BP_N_01.29.00R & BP_N_01.33.00R
are also workable.
and KERNEL become : 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #1

b/cos many rom use Advance Recovery "System" in clockworkmod
U just need to find rom based on "OLYEM_U4_2.1.1" to develop,
and Kernel support 2.6.32.9.
100% workable u can use no matter greyblur or others.
When dont want to play other rom, or any problem need moto warrently,
or want to use back HK system by chinese,
Just Advance Recovery "System" in clockworkmod by above pt.3 saved file
P.S. when machine dead in opening moto screen... u forgot wipe, or try many difference system by Advance restore ... or re-boot continuously, but can't wipe in recovery anymore,...
Dont worry :
power device off. hold vol down & power button it will load into fast boot use vol down key to you see android recovery press vol up to enter. Now to will see an andriod with an exclamation point press and the bottom right (its hiddin on top on the search key)
of the screen to bring up options and then vol to wipe data/factory reset and press the ok button to select.
*** hiddin bottom *** try to find it out.

The phone did not have android market on it initially as it was the Malaysian (SEA) version. This is how I flashed it to the WWE version with market and most locales etc.
1. Choose a ROM (Link to Generic ROM's inc. pre-rooted
They will be in the update.zip format, as this is the format we need. The link I have given is for the generic versions with nothing added to them.
2. Download the appropriate files
- Flashrec Download the latest version from here (fastboot will not work for this phone kernal)
- Amon RA Recovery Image
Either: (For Installing .apk's)
- HTC Sync
or
- OI File Manager
3. Install Flashrec
Either using HTC Sync or OI File Manager install the flashrec apk onto your phone.
To install with OI File Manager, just copy to your SD Card, and browse to the SD card and select the file.
4. Run Flashrec
Select backup recovery image (the last option), and let that finish
Then type into the box up the top the following
/sdcard/Recovery-RA-HERO-v1.2.2.img
And select the button below the textbox (flash recovery image)
Once this is done, your recovery image will be flashed, and you can now boot into recovery mode!
5. Backing Up
Rename the ROM file you downloaded to update.zip
Save it to the root directory on your SD card
Turn the phone off, hold down the home and power buttons until a green menu comes up.
*** Select nandroid backup first ***
Let it run its course and then reboot you phone (first option in the menu) and copy the folder 'nandroid' from your SD card to your computer and store it somewhere safe
6. Flashing new ROM
Reboot your phone again into the recovery image (home + power buttons)
And select Wipe/Factory Reset
Then select Apply:update.zip
Let this run, and when it is finished, you will have the 'good' software, and android market!
With this method you can apply any other ROM you want (MoDaCo for instance)...
Hope my learning experience will help some other people!

It can be flashed. I use flashrec, Amon Ra's and official pre-rooted 2.73.450.5 update image.
Yes there is no Market, and that's why I flashed it with another ROM.

It came like this, I have not flashed the updated Hero rom on it, from what I know its the SEA version of the Hero with no market on it. And I really would like to have the market on it

You're damn lucky dude that you've got THAT kernel version. Check out the thread which says that flashrec doesn't work and those guys have a slightly different kernel and are having hell of a trouble trying to flash a recovery image and a new ROM.
Yep, your best bet is to use FLASHREC AND AMON_RA'S recovery image, then go for any ROM you like (as long as you do not get and Customer ID error). Good luck

I am assuming he used update.zip, I have updated my first post to reflect on my experiences flashing my Hero.

hey guys I'm totally new to this and I think I messed this up already... I'm pretty confused by all this - I am not a computer/technical person in the least I just want market place... anyways I messed up in flashrec and now I don't have the right options - I reset the phone and reinstalled flashrec and I get "phone is ebi1/32a" at the top, the type box, and 'download recovery image' and 'restore backup image buttons'... how do I fix this or atleast get it back to original..? sorry I'm so ignorant, I've not done anything like this before.

for some reason i did all kinds of editing to the phone supposed by the website the unlocker to unlock my htc hero.. now after doing all that they said it was as easy as 1...2...3... so after i did the cmd editing and phone cmd editing im still not being able to backup the original img that i have now.. so i understand that once you select backup that there is a load bar that starts working but when using fleshrec (or watever) i select backup and nothing happens... i might have done it already just not too sure is there anyway to check on the HTC Hero by Sprint???

Solved - Cannot Flash Fastboot/Missing apps

I bought a rooted Droid Razr yesterday. I noticed that the contacts were not working and the stock text messaging app was missing.
First, I tried unroot/factory reset. I successfully removed root, but the apps were still missing/broken.
Second, I tried to flash the latest fastboot with RSD Lite (5.6) and VRZ_XT912_6.5.1-73_DHD-11_TA-3_1FF_02.xml and VRZ_XT912_6.5.1-167_DHD-14_M2-5_CFC_1FF_01.xml to no avail. The flash failed each time.
Third, I tried flashing with the Razr Utility - fail, again.
Fourth, I tried the alternative method (I forget the guy's name) and still no luck.
I was able to install Bootstrap Recovery but failed with clockworkmod backup.
I still have the missing/broken apps. Any suggestions?

I only need a rooted Galaxy S2 and Android 4 running in Austria with Hutchinson.
In the moment i use:

Build Info: Tue Apr 3 19:44 KST 20112
Generally it runs fine, but there are some freezes and some apps don't run properly. Thats why i put the question here.

@ first, try to flash a root kernel. cf root is a good one

rootchecker says, that the phone is rooted. Also software insisting on root rights like Titanium runs well. How did you see that i should flash a root cernel first?

if u have installed a custom CWM app then go to recovery, wipe Cache and then in advance ,wipe dalvik cache then do fixpermission reboot to sytem and see if the freeze problem still persists and also for the app that r not running properly try clearing data and cache of those apps and see

[Q] Need Help on How to Root Again

Ok, so this is my 3rd time rooting my Samsung Galaxy S2, my first ROM was a lighting one, If I can recall, that was rooted roughly 2 years ago, last year, I decided to go back to the STOCK rom and now, I want to install the JellyBam rom BUT apparently, I need CWM which I don't have and if I can recall, when I rooted my phone the first time, I don't think CWM existed back then unless it's that VOLUME-DOWN+POWER button thingy.
Anyway, I have an idea but just don't know how to get CWM, I know there are guides but they're outdated thus unreliable because there are updated ROMS and KERNELS. Now, on Jellybam's official site, it says I need CWM, I've downloaded an APP on the android "Rom Manager" but it says my phone needs to be rooted, I got ODIN but I just don't know what the heck do I use to root my phone with, I also downloaded the CM10.1 kernel because apparently, it has a better life efficiency. I've done far to many search and now, the information I came across is everywhere and I can't seem to piece it together.
P.S > I was reading this guide aswell http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1134290 but just don't get this "CWM-Kernel" and how to get it. Do I need to flash my phone again? How do I check?

Missing Voices on Samsung TTS

Hello there, I was trying to use utter! on my phone with spanish language recognition, and as I couldn't find a way to make it work offline I messed up with S-Voice and Samsung TTS.. Now TTS can't find any language
I've tried everything i could, from replacing the files with the S4 ones, to replace them from packs made of Stock S3, but no matter what i do, there's no language to choose on the TTS Settings..
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated, preferably if it didn't mean re-flashing a stock firmware because it's a new phone, which i've only rooted.. (twice now, as i tried to reset to factory and see if that brought back the languages) and i'm afraid of using Triangle Away as it says it can't find the state my device is, and asks for a special boot mode that could brick my phone..

Triangle away needs to boot into that mode to reset anyway. Its normal. Just a disclaimer to say "don't blame the dev" if you do something stupid.
Are the languages still in /system/tts?
You could reflash stock then root. Or flash many of the rooted versions...
Factory reset doesn't return /system files if removed. Only wipes /data

Thanks for the reply, yes, the files are there in system/tts, but for some reason the languages don't appear in the settings. And yes, I know I could reflash stock, however i'm not so sure to try it as in sammobile there's no firmware for my country (Argentina) and i can't seem to find the same firmware i have; and i don't want to flash a different one if i can avoid it.
