Hi there,
I have a question about the battery notification's. In particular the % on with the notification's are given. i can't seem to find the settings window on the device. i found some thing's online suggesting that the settings are hidden on this device. so i thought is there a way of un-hiding there settings, and maybe more that are hidden.
I am very confused as to what you mean here?

The phone gives an notification when battery is low. this is done at about 40% or something. i would like to lower that to something like 10%, there is no settings for this. and of what i read online, the settings for that should be hidden. i am looking of a way to unhide it.
Ahhh. Are you sure its 40%. I get alerts on mine at 15% and I have done nothing to edit the alerts

Sounds like he means the power saving threshold...
If someone can describe the message accurately, I'll see if I can disable it
"Connect to a plug socket to change device and exit unused application in Task manager. Continued usage while charging may prevent efficient charging" That is the msg i get. and i do not want to disable it i just want to change the threshold, but the settings of that seems to be hidden.

what do you guys use, whats more "battery friendly?"
I've used NoLED since last august, never had any battery issues. Love the idea that I can look at my phone and see gmail, gtalk, or gosms app icon on the screen if I have new messages.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I prefer bln because noled does eat more battery life because its still turning the screen on, hence: why you have to hit the home key instead of the power key to read your message. Bln is led light only. Downside is you don't know what type of message it is with bln.

Try them both and see which one you like. Neither uses much battery at all. I like no led so I can tell what messages it is.
No LED could cause screen burn in though.

I use BLN. Once you have BLN you can just go into each app that supports led notification and modify the settings there and instead of using the default bln setting you set in the bln app your phone will use those settings instead. So you can change the BLN frequency to help you distinguish between the different types of messages.

How? It doesn't stay in one place. I have never heard of any screen burn in by noled from anyone.
It could really only cause burn in if you don't have it set to move the icons every few seconds.
I prefer BLN just because its brighter, and the unlocking procedure doesn't change.
If he figures out individual light blinks, it will be even better.
I've used both, and haven't seen any excessive battery drain on either. However, both come with apps that let you configure the settings, so YMMV.
if anything, this makes things worse for me since after having a viewing experience ruined by an annoyance, restart what i was watching. this obv makes my battery run out sooner than not having that damned popup in the 1st place.
i had a look at tasker but there's only "battery full" etc in there.
Try JKays mod, amongst other things it has the option to disable low battery notifications. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1154278

cool, will that let me disable the brightness problem with 5% battery left too?
i'm still trying to watch this damn video but now, after about 8 attempts the battery went to 5% and the brightness has gone to ****! can't watch it now
That option isn't included sorry but some of the roms include modified power saving settings there might even be a standalone mod some where. Sorry I can't be more specific.

jkay is part of criskelos rom but can't see an option to do any of this in there
4 things on my to find out list. 4 is the name of that bluetooth alert so i can delete the file.
lately it seems the annoyances of android are getting to me more and more.
recently flashed cm7. Really cool. This place has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to this stuff.
I do have a few questions regarding cm7, however.
I've tried to search, i'm no stranger to forum etiquette. the search feature just isn't turning up any relevant answers to me questions.
Is there a built in airplane widget/app ? i can only access airplane mode via the settings.
Is there a built in task manager? (does it need one) and if not, would u recommend one ? Again, accessing running apps via the settings...
Can you freeze any apps? such as "talk" "voice dialer" "voice search" "torch" "news and weather" ?
This is more of a request than a question. But I would like an optimal setting for the display, as it's killing my battery. It's almost 50% of my battery consumption. I notice it gets brighter and dimmer sort of randomly... ? i know there are settings on this, but don't really know how to set them accordingly.
Thank you in advance for any help!

For app freezing invest in Titanium Backup Pro. To my knowledge that is the go to app for app management.
I have yet to find a task manager as I've been on cm7 for all of 4 days
As far as an airplane toggle goes, you can setup the power control widget to display the airplane mode toggle...which leads me to a random question: the **** does airplane mode do?
The random dimming is cause your brightness is set to automatic-- this can also be changed with the power control widget, which is built in.
Hope this helps!

1) Airplane widget/app: You can set it as one of the options on your notification bar by going to settings, CyanogenMod settings, Interface, Notification power widget, Widget buttons, and selecting Toggle Airplane Mode. That way it is easily accessible with only one swoop of the finger.
2) Built in task manager: no clue. I simply access running apps by pulling up by app drawer and selecting running apps.
3) Freezing apps: I swear there is, because I've done it... my mind is going blank. Will edit when my brain decides to work.
Airplane mode can be toggled by long pressing the top button of the phone. Task manager is not really necessary IMHO. As for freezing apps, titanium backup pro is probably the best for that. I think an app called bloat freezer existence off market but you might have to do some searching for that.

thank you guys. Found airplane mode, but i also found the toggle to turn off data, so that's basically why i wanted airplane mode. I live in an area with crappy service, airplane and data toggle help me extend battery life... basically so my phone isn't constantly working trying to find service when i know i don't have any... as far as Freezing, i have an app that can do it, i was just curious if it was safe to do so? Mostly the apps i had mentioned above. I don't wanna freeze something, then make my phone freak out. and have to nandroid or something.
and i just wanted a faster way to reach the running apps... i'm paranoid about apps running when i don't want them to.. lol
thanks for the help though guys. much appreciated.

Where did you find the data goggles? When I look it shows 2g and 3g and it is greyed out. I also used turning off data when not in use to save battery.
The data toggle should be right there on the same menu iirc.

I have ~20 apps frozen out of the maybe 50 I have and my phone is totally fine. So long as you aren't freezing something like your launcher, you're golden.
I feel the same way about running apps. Try advanced app killer. Its found in the Market, its totally free and easy to use. You can drag down the notification bar open the app and see exactly what is running and then kill anything you don't want running. There's also a one touch killer widget.

Ignore this...
Also for brightness control on the fly go to settings, cm settings, interface, status bar tweaks and check off status bar brightness control. Takes some getting used to but you can change your brightness by sliding your finger left and right along your status bar.

I just installed cm7 and am very pleased so far. However, I am noticing a significant battery drain compared to Blur. Is this anything anyone else is experiencing? If so, any fixes or is there something in the works from the CM team. Thanks a billion!

Give it a few days...the battery will get better. I would also suggest completely draining then recharging the battery until its been at 100% for 15 minutes.

Hmmm I think that is battery used while the screen locked and not in use. I've no idea how you'd regulate that other than turning the phone off altogether. Is phone idle draining more battery than your display? If so, that might be a problem.
Sent from my MB870 using xda premium
No, phone idle has never used more battery than display. So I guess that's good. Lol. I've noticed lately tho, that if I turn data on, I can literally watch my battery percentage drop. I've calibrated. And completely drained and then charged (uninterrupted) the battery.
I like cm7 though. Has lots of really cool features, but my main purpose for getting it was better battery life. ( which wasn't bad on stock) again, any and all input is welcome!
Juice defender pro. Watch it triple ur battery life.
Sent from my MB870 using XDA App
How would that help if he has problems with data on? Not with it off. Also, juice defender does nothing more than turn off data connections when your screen is off or when you schedule it to. Its much more efficient to do it yourself.
It could be a problem with the driver. I have this issue too on my G2X.

Hi guys
My samsung galaxy s3 battery is draining freaking fast around 1% for every 3-4 minutes
I tried to reset the battery stats and monitor it using better battery stats and all but there is no wakelocks.
Is there any reason why am i having this trouble?
Is anyone else having the same trouble?
Feel free to share here.
[EDIT]: I m running custom rom jellybean criskelo.
Do you have the Facebook app installed? This has caused issues for several people with it constantly syncing.
As a test either disable fb syncing or uninstall fb and see if that improves you battery.
---------- Post added at 03:55 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:53 PM ----------
Also do you have GPS or Wifi on constantly or any of the usual battery draining settings. Auto sync will also cause a big battery drain.
GPS won't do anything to the battery unless you're using it. If you have the GPS symbol in the notification bar then its being used otherwise its fine to leave it on.
I have set wi-fi settings in the advanced menu to make wi-fi sleep when the phone is so it's not on 100% of the time when i don't need it. Auto sync i turn off. Brightness is down as low as it can be with auto turned off - adjust it manually if your outside. Make sure you've disabled the S Speak Wake up commands on lock screen.
These increased my battery life quite abit.
Do you take the phone in the bathroom when you shower? That drain sounds very high indeed, possible moisture damage?

Even though GPS isn't used with it switched on it will still use battery so I believe your incorrect there.
I didint install any facebook app and my syncing is switched off all the time....
Any idea why?
Are you in a low signal area? I know it's a pain but to be on the safe side I would perform a factory reset. Also In android settings under battery option what does it show is using your battery?

No, you are incorrect. He is correct. GPS isnt activated unless an app accesses it. The toggle only allows it to be used.

Ok I stand corrected apoligies for that.
Please be aware though if you use the weather widget and its allowed to use GPS, GPS will be used every hour or so to check location (or whatever your refresh period is) so please be aware its not just opening an app. Widgets like weather widget will always be able to use GPS automatically unless Auto Refresh is set to 'None'
I read something about there being a software bug specifically for the s3 a couple of days ago. Just my 2 cents

Isn't an issue ... is related to the sound system.
Sound on tap , sound in keyboard , sound on lock screen etc ... including sound notification for incoming alerts ... all of these keeps the audio 2 wakelock on top
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
I might have found a final solution for this "audio out 2" battery drain. I tried lots of stuff and nothing worked, this battery drain kept showing up "randomly" sometimes it was lasting very long and sometimes it would disapear just like that. Ok so now I know it was not random. I found the solution by accident. So when you click volume up or down button the volume slider shows up with a settings icon. When u click the settings icon U get view of 4 separate sliders for different system events. All U have to do is set all of those sliders to maximum and problem solved. I suppose it must be some sound settings bug that shows up when one of the sliders is set to different volume than others. In my case the media volume was lower than the others. I didn't try it, but maybe if you set all the sliders to exactly 50 there would be also no battery drain. Also I have in call volume set to max, U can access it only during a call by volume up or down keys.
Could sombody try my solution and check if it works for them? Maybe some devs could also check it out to prevent it form happening on custom roms. And the most important thing my setup is international GS3 with stock 4.1.2 xxemb1 firmware, i duplicated the problem and solution on stock xella xelkc firmwares also.
Hope I helped.
Do you have, by any chance, Viber installed? I found it being the culprit. It was keeping the device awake and always a 200Mhz, so the battery drained drastically fast. I removed and now it seems to be fine. There's already a similar topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1919126
So kamylo, the sliders shouldn't make any difference and anyway I'm nit gonna stay with all sounds on max... Check here for more info http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2669688/all
