[Q] reassign home button doubleclick - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

is there a way to reassign the home button doubleclick? i don't want to use vlingo voice talk and would rather have another application assigned to the double click...

Please read other threads before posting this question has been answered before, and no, you can't change the double click home function

Yeah...sorry about that, it's just a bit annoying when people quite clearly haven't bothered to search and just start a new duplicate thread. I've personally answered this question once before haha so I know the thread's out there somewhere . But I am sorry for being a bit sharp tongued earlier, no hard feeling

well, i did search, but probably with the wrong keywords - i still fail to find that, and from the looks of other duplicate posts done after mine, i'm not the only one ;-)
anyway, let's hope for a custom rom then. thanks.

I did knock together a quick app to redirect the double home press to act as a search button long press, however, it seems to have broken with a change in KE7. I am looking at whether it can be fixed, but for now it should work on KE2.
I haven't made enough posts here to post links, but I have linked to it on the MoDaCo forums.

opera mobile 10 | scroll-speed

hello,
just one question,
is there anything to increase the scrolling speed in opera mobile 10, or to jump to the start or end of a webpage, with one click or something like that?
why?!
there are a lot of forums, which doesn´t have pages.
so, if there are, let´s say, 200posts, the page is a real monster, and reading the last posting, is very frustrating.
any suggestions?
ps
i read something about kinetic scrolling - is it enabled at default, or something to do manually?
thanks in advance for any idea.
best regards
mario
if youppress the red bar on top operator jumps to the top of the page. i don't know if there is anything like that for going down right to the end.

I'd really love to know too. I just did a quick google using these keywords "opera 10 mobile scroll to bottom", no luck.
anyone else?
thx!
Just zoom out and scroll... shouldnt take more than a couple of flicks unless ur on a ridiculously long page.

How to Reset Your myTouch: Hardware Key Combo

I'm new to Android with my myTouch, but I'm no stranger to mobile "hacking" being that I own a Tytn, Touch Pro, Touch Pro 2, and HD2. Is there an app or registry edit that'll give me a reset button of any sort? Preferably on in the "Phone Options" menu on a power key long press.
Thanx

Nothing that I know of but there's an app called "Quick Boot" that will present you with an option to reboot but only within itself, not on the long press.
All the other Android phones I've had you could hit Alt + Shift + backspace for an instant reboot, but for some reason doesn't work on the Slide. Not sure if there's a quick key combo for a reboot.
If you're rooted, maybe using Better Cut to create a shortcut for a terminal command to reboot? I could never figure out how to use Better Cut to do that though.
vol down+power+center optical trackball with give you an instant reboot.
If you are rooted, just use better terminal emulator andtype the comand "reboot" or "reboot recovery"
good to know, thanks!

i foresee alot of new threads asking the same question that's already been answered here....lol

[Q] Disable Search Button (magnifying glass)

Im sorry if this post is not supposed to be here. I'm still kinda new to the forum. I asked e question in the Q&A section but I didn't get any good answers.
Is there a way I could disable the search button permanently? Not the long press function only, I'm having more issue with its short press search function. I keep hitting it on accident when I'm typing with my right thumb. Let me know. Thanks in advance.

Should have kept it in Q&A. This place is cluttered enough. That being said, I'd like to know too. I hate that button. Matter of fact, I think I hate capacitive hardware buttons in general.
Once we have perm root you can use a button remapper. Reason full root needed is upon changing the buttons function it reboots, thus with temp root it will reset itself...
question answered, thread moved and closed.

[Q] can someone point me to the button-mapping thread?

LOVE my new EVO LTE (hardware) -- waiting on a couple software fixes for a few things.
i remember reading a thread where you could map an ICS android's dedicated camera button to voice search on soft-press. You know, the one-push of the button, instead of the holding-it-down which brings up the camera.
I love ICS but i HATE that google removed the dedicated search button!! I used that all the time. For everything...
anyway, i used the search and i simply can not locate that thread anywhere. Any help is appreciated.

Its under Development. Hope this helps.
I agree with the search button comment... I just ended up adding a google search bar to the top of every panel like on the Nexus. I am starting to get used to tapping on it. But in apps, it does get occasionally frustrating-- though my love for the phone outweighs it dramatically
i agree, the phone itself is too awesome to get worked up over the search thing, but still... i miss it bordering on need it.
I'm glad to see someone is working on this, that is awesome, but that wasn't what i was looking for. it was in another phone's boards, it was done, and if i remember correctly, it only worked on ICS that had a dedicated hardware camera button. it wasn't a "remap any button you like hard or soft" thing...
i found this, which helps (and i did the same thing, put one on each homescreen ) voice-search button
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.companion.GVButton

still, it would be nice to have that button lower-right-side bring up the voice prompt! i had just gotten used to using voice-commands for everything only to have them take that away!
Dang, sorry that wasn't it.
I'm on exactly the same page. I was really enjoying using voice commands with ICS on my 3D with just a tap on the bottom, but now I just have to stretch my hand a tiny bit farther to get to that search bar [totally just realized a little while ago theres a mic on the bar for voice search too ].
But yes, here's to hoping someone cooks something up!
for remapping the list to menu, it's this thread here

[Q] Long press the home button....

When I long press the home button a semi circle comes up and Google is at the top, no other icons. Can I add different apps to this? I think I've been through every menu, I just got the phone yesterday and I am still working on it.
Thanks!

Short answer: not without modifying the firmware. There might be a custom firmware (or "xposed" module) that has this as a feature. (However, I'm not personally aware of anything on the HTC One M8 that does it.)
For future reference, single questions with shorter answers should be posted in the device's Q&A section, not the general section. (If it's an open question involving a lot of conversation, it might be okay in 'general.')
Take care
Gary
