Currently on KE2, I get an alert telling me there is a new firmware available from Kies, but then will not allow me to update ('This version of the device cannot be updated').
Can anyone else check if there is an update available? Thanks.

No, I don't get any alert there's an update available.
just had a check and getting the same thing as you.....

Got Samsung Galaxy S II on 14th from Letsbuy.I want to check updates in it for that I need to log in into Samsung but unable After entering Password and email id it says Processing and after a min it shows Error saying Processing Failed..Please Help how to log in? and is there any other way to check updates other than this way? I know Kies is there but will it show every Update?

I would just use ODIN guys. If your phone is branded then Kies will only show the update that is relevant to that provider, not the latest update. And even if it does show the latest update I have read about issues trying to apply the update.
ODIN is far easier, just read up about it.
The software update check in settings/about phone works fine for me as long as you have a Samsung account, thought at the moment it just says "no update available"
What i posted should be read >>>as far as i am aware nobody on SGS2 or even SGS1 gets an update via that method as its not turned on by Samsung for firmware updates .

A firmware update on phone >>> void does not work never worked Samsung have not turned it on ever .
Kies updates firmware if the phones product code has later firmware updated by the phone vendor as always .

Oh,Samsung Never turned it on..Ok 1 More question there was a Camera Update once recently right? for that type of updates I need to login to samsung or Kies will show it or it will show up normally like update of YouTube,Angry Birds? I am sure that Update is already installed in my mobile bcoz Letsbuy got stock on 9th ( Before that only camera update released)

Oh So it shows if update is there when I open it..Will it show like Angry Bird and other Apps or will it give a Notification?

Tried but it didn't Work
Hey everyone...last night I tried messing around with some Samsung official ROMs and some really weird things happened...:
I tried a Android 2.3.6 ROM (from a Samsung Firmware page) - it kept enabling/disabling my SIM card constantly.
I tried a Europe (general Europe I guess), it kept restarting my phone on start-up (boot loop).
I installed back my Vodafone (Spain) 2.3.5 ROM but now Samsung Keys says this device cant be updated trough it! (before I started messing around with it, it used to say "no new updates found").
Originally my idea was to have a Samsung stock ROM that is not carrier-based (Europe region though of course).
But now that I'm having a "white circle in the lower-left of the screen" problem I also need to keep my Vodafone ROM installed.
Any idea how to fix the "cant update trough Kies" problem? =/

P.S. I took a look on the Stock ROMs posted here on XNA (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278)...any recommendation for a generic Europe ROM?

I'd like to know this too. Im on Vodaphone UK and after flashing the carrier branded firmware from these forums (BUKJ3) the same as i had out of the box i can no longer update with Kies.

KIES is fussy and often fails to recognize flashed firmware .
Codes don't match on KIES server any firmware is why .
Search for the CHECK FUS post

I would remove kies and delete all kies registry info and then reinstall .

I've managed to do it in end. Here's what I did:
Go here: http://fus.nanzen.se/ and download version 2.1 of the PC program.
Use the PC program to get the firmware for your device/carrier.
Use Odin to install the firmware and then enter recovery mode (Up-Volume key + Home key + Power key while turning on) and format your Data.
That solved the problem for me and now Kies allows me to update the device again like before. ^_^

When I press install now, the phone reboots, looks like it is updating, than says error and restarts. A message pops up when the phone restarts stating the update failed due to error 402. I tried to update via Kies, but it says there is no available update in Kies, but my phone says the update is available. Please help me with this issue. I have a lot of data on the phone and I need my warranty to stay intact, so no Odin please.

Fixed mine! I was also getting the 402 error and the Verizon store had no idea what to do when soft resets didn't work. They told me to do a hard reset when I got home.
I connected to my pc with usb and in the popup (windows 8.1) I selected to install the software upgrade assistant. I ran the assistant and after 10min or so and a phone reboot it said update complete. After that I unplugged my phone from the pc and checked the software update on the phone. It said there was still an update to run so I downloaded and installed it in about 20min and it worked. Now it's up to date.
Hope this helps someone.

How to get kies to work with samsung s6 edge?
it seems that i can get the marshmellow update using Kies, but that the program keeps telling me that i should use smartswitch for my device?

very odd. i finally got it to work, and it looked like that it downloaded the new software and installed it,erased everything ells. but when i got it back it was alle deletet and still android 5,1,1 and now i have to reinstall all. kinda suck
There is no Marshmallow yet. And Kies doesn't work anymore, you can use Smart Switch now, to update or restore phone.

Because there is no update. When it comes you will have notification in the middle of Smart Switch right where is model of your phone shown.

Hi all.
i just bought at&t unlocked G5 (H820), and it seems i have a problem about "software update".
When i check Android security patch level, its still on "2016-03-01" (Build number: MMB29M, H82010c). Its very outdate, and i cant get any update. already check via software update (OTA), its says i'm on the latest software. I try use LG Bridge, still the same - i dont get any update and i get error "cant find software" or something like that (i dont remember the exact word).
Please, can you guys help me. Is there another way to get Software update?
I dont even have app drawer :crying:

I have a similar problem with my phone, OTA does not work for me.
Download the latest version of LG Bridge and connect your phone, go to Software Update tab and search for update
Thats the only way I got updates and im updating to Nougat with my H860N right now.

Already tried sir. Still no luck.
Everytime i click "Search for update", i always get this error
"Cannot check the software version Try Again". I dont have any problem with USB driver, my phone connect perfectly with LG Bridge and i have the latest version of LG Bridge. I tried to click "Update error recovery" and i get this error message "cannot check phone information".
any idea?
Hmm, I would suggest perhaps try it on another PC (also looks like there are troubles with LGUP+ Macs if you are on one)

btw, this is my first time buying unlocked phone. i dont know that i need at&t simcard just to get an OTA update.
I think im screwed. haha.
This is also happening to me. Since I've got my phone back from warranty I don't recieve any OTA updates (even though before everything was fine) and LG Bridge is displaying the same error as yours. In my case the reason I think it is because the motherboard was replaced. My phone is an UK model but the new motherboard is made for Europe (my IMEI was changed after this replacement). Maybe something similar happened to your phone. If you can find any solution to this please post it because I'm also interested in resolving this.
