How to get kies to work with samsung s6 edge?
it seems that i can get the marshmellow update using Kies, but that the program keeps telling me that i should use smartswitch for my device?
anyone got an ide how to get pass that
very odd. i finally got it to work, and it looked like that it downloaded the new software and installed it,erased everything ells. but when i got it back it was alle deletet and still android 5,1,1 and now i have to reinstall all. kinda suck
There is no Marshmallow yet. And Kies doesn't work anymore, you can use Smart Switch now, to update or restore phone.

Because there is no update. When it comes you will have notification in the middle of Smart Switch right where is model of your phone shown.

Got Samsung Galaxy S II on 14th from Letsbuy.I want to check updates in it for that I need to log in into Samsung but unable After entering Password and email id it says Processing and after a min it shows Error saying Processing Failed..Please Help how to log in? and is there any other way to check updates other than this way? I would just use ODIN guys. If your phone is branded then Kies will only show the update that is relevant to that provider, not the latest update. And even if it does show the latest update I have read about issues trying to apply the update.
ODIN is far easier, just read up about it.
The software update check in settings/about phone works fine for me as long as you have a Samsung account, thought at the moment it just says "no update available"
What i posted should be read >>>as far as i am aware nobody on SGS2 or even SGS1 gets an update via that method as its not turned on by Samsung for firmware updates .

A firmware update on phone >>> void does not work never worked Samsung have not turned it on ever .
Kies updates firmware if the phones product code has later firmware updated by the phone vendor as always .

Oh,Samsung Never turned it on..Ok 1 More question there was a Camera Update once recently right? for that type of updates I need to login to samsung or Kies will show it or it will show up normally like update of YouTube,Angry Birds? I am sure that Update is already installed in my mobile bcoz Letsbuy got stock on 9th ( Before that only camera update released)

Oh So it shows if update is there when I open it..Will it show like Angry Bird and other Apps or will it give a Notification?

Tried but it didn't Work
I really need some help here if anyone could take some tile to do so...
I just got the samsung galaxy s2 and I tried to flash the firmware on the phone and I believe I flashed the wrong one and now I have no services on my phone at all. I flashed a rom and have no connect 3g/4g/wifi. I am not able to connect the phone to odhin to reflash the firmware either. I can get into download (Odhin mode) and I can also get into recovery. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
i dont get it, you say you cant connect your phone to odin, but you can get into downlaod mode.
put your phone in download mode, then connect your phone to PC and then reflash the correct firmware for your phone with ODIN

Ok, your phone is not bricked.
If you have no data/wifi your phone maybe missed baseband
Type this on dialer: *#1234#
Look at is write PHONE. What do u see?
What's your phone model? Look under the battery place

It won't allow me to do that nothing happens when I punch in the #1234#

It doesn't connect at all when I am in download (odin mode) like it won't show me with the yellow connection in odin tells me that I have a custom binary and that I have downloaded 1 binary. The only time I can connect with odin is when the phone is in the booted up but I can not do anything with it at all no connection. Also Clockwork is all messed up as well whenever I click on a task it goes blank and I just hit the power button again and it goes back to the main screen =-(
I have been reading up online and I guess what I need is a US version of sprints firmware but now I need to figure out how to install it once I get my hands on it
I found the firmware!!
D710USEG30 is the firmware for Sprint USA galaxy s2 I am going to attempt to use Heimdall Frontend to install it (crossing my fingers) hehe
Ok update, I guess I installed something on my laptop to keep me from being able to use odin. I did it on my desktop just fine and I am back up and running. I thank both of you for your time it was very helpful and much appreciated =-)

phone model is SPH-D710 are you sure you got the correct model number? if i am not wrong, SPH-D710 is for SAMSUNG GALAXY S II EPIC 4G TOUCH. correct me if i am wrong.
And backup your EFS (IMEI), use the search for EFS, and for backuo you can use the HK-Tool its on the market.. its very important to backup it.

When I press install now, the phone reboots, looks like it is updating, than says error and restarts. A message pops up when the phone restarts stating the update failed due to error 402. I tried to update via Kies, but it says there is no available update in Kies, but my phone says the update is available. Please help me with this issue. I have a lot of data on the phone and I need my warranty to stay intact, so no Odin please.

Software Upgrade Assistant
Fixed mine! I was also getting the 402 error and the Verizon store had no idea what to do when soft resets didn't work. They told me to do a hard reset when I got home.
I connected to my pc with usb and in the popup (windows 8.1) I selected to install the software upgrade assistant. I ran the assistant and after 10min or so and a phone reboot it said update complete. After that I unplugged my phone from the pc and checked the software update on the phone. It said there was still an update to run so I downloaded and installed it in about 20min and it worked. Now it's up to date.
Hope this helps someone.

I have recently purchased s6 edge plus verizon phone . I tried to update my phone from lollipop to marshmallow but i am not able to update it. I am using T mobile connection in this cell phone.
I tried to use smart switch to push the update from lappy to phone. It didn't work out.
Also tried to update from phone directly, it didn't work out.
Could you please sent me any link or steps to proceed further.

To install upgrade assistant on your pc, just plugin the device with USB, popsup with install software, do it and open application. Re-connect the device to check the updates and install. I've followed same instructions with no data loss.
Worked great for me. The only problem I had was the phone kept popping out of software installation mode into mtp mode. I eventually realized that to get it to stay I needed to keep the phone locked while plugged into the USB drive.
I sideloaded the pie beta (CRKE) and found that some of my apps started to freeze randomly. Because of this, I want to downgrade back to oreo. After researching a bit, it seems like I need to use either odin or smartswitch to do so. Odin just fails (tried multiple times) and smartswitch says my device is up to date. Any suggestions/fixes?

I tried that. In the emergency recovery menu, my device doesn't show up. Does it just take a while for it to appear or should it be instant?
Also, for reference, my s9+ is working, except for the apps that freeze
I think, you have to boot into download-mode for the smart switch recovery.
Also first plug in your phone and then open smart switch

1. Backup your phone using smart switch you installed on your computer.
2. Logout on your Samsung account.
3. Factory reset your phone.
4. Open smart switch on your computer and plug your phone.
5. Once your phone is connected to smart switch you will see the option to downgrade to the last official firmware installed on your phone. Good luck. Hope this help.

You have to turn USB debugging on in the developer option in your phone's settings.

Yes, I turned it on before I tried the other things.
Make sure to unregister from the Beta. Use the samsung Members to do so. You might need the Old Samsung Members or the UK version. The US version was crashing on me after I installed PIE.
Open up Smart Switch on your pc and make sure to install smart switch from the play market on your phone before you plug it in.
Once that is done plug your phone and you should see your s9+ on Smart Switch (pc) and it will say something about downgrade update available.

Thanks for the reply. I actually couldn't sign up for the beta the official way (I have Xfinity Mobile) so I sideloaded it. I'm not sure if it will work but I'll try it anyways.

I switched to U1 firmware and got the beta using the app and registering (Also on Xfinity). I did try doing a downgrade using smart switch and it was quite painful and once i finally got it to downgrade it looked like it had destroyed efs so no radio. But I was able to get the full firmware for xfinity and an Odin that works to downgrade and or switch to U1. Let me know if you need links for either.

Yeah, it'd be awesome if you could send the files over. Also, which version of Odin did you use?
I'm on SM-G965U and was able to downgrade without a problem but I had to use a patched odin to do it
