clean, xrecovery, optimize options seem to be dull i mean not highlited...so i cant open them at all.....some one please help me out...how can i access xrecovery
Search in the forum, there's a post by Z which the xRecovery installation apk is uploaded.
To use this installer, you would have to have busybox installed and running on your X10.
This is actually the original method to install xRecovery before the flashtool has that integrated.
To install, first copy the xRecovery.apk onto sd card and install that app.
After that, open the app and click install. You would see three checkmarks on the screen if installation is successful.
Here's a video guide to do it (Thanks and credits to BluechipJ):

They are not accessible because you have not enabled usb debugging..
switch on your phone and go into settings/applications/development and enable USB debugging and connect your phone (normally, not in flash mode) and open flashtool..
Now those options will be enabled..

thanks for taking the time to take a look !
Alright, I'll try helping out.
1st. xRecovery
Install xRecovery then do a full wipe of your phone... Dont forget to backup just in case.
2nd. FlashTool
Use FlashTool Through your computer and flash the official firmware.
3rd. Master reset.
FlashTool 0.2.6 - "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746"
Decrypted Official ROMs - "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=683793"
xRecovery - "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=859571"
See if any of these methods work...
result :
my phone root is broken so it says successfully instaled xrecovery via the flashtool but i cant boot onto xrecovery it just do a normal startup

that and If u want, do a manual installtion of xRecovery. lemme hit this up:
1st. make sure buzybox is installed, just in case, dl the installer from the market and run it.
2nd. dl xRecovery 0.3 and extract it. (preferebly on computer)
3rd. go into /res/raw/ and you'll find 3 files, copy and paste it into /system/bin/
then xRecovery should be back.
(i kinda do this often cause the auto install of xRecovery usually fails on my phone)
To stop all those questions about how to install one of the pre rooted 2.3.3 ROMs properly I decided to make this HOW-TO to keep the threads clear.
INGREDIENTS:
All you need is:
1 Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 device
1 Computer
PREPERATIONS:
At the moment, there is NO method to root your X10 after you have installed 2.3.3. So if you installed 2.3.3 via SEUS, PCC oder Flashtool the first step you have to do is to get a rooted stock 2.1 ROM on your device. To avoid errors I would recommend this step to everyone
INSTALL 2.1, root it and install xRecovery:
Get the newest Flashtool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746&highlight=flashtool
Get one of the stock 2.1 ROMS (same thread as flashtool)
Extract the ROM-file to your Flashtool/firmware folder
Start flashtool
Click on "Flash" and select the firmware you just downloaded
Click OK
Turn off your device
Connect cable to PC NOT TO YOUR X10
Press Back-Button on your X10 and connect cable
Wait flashtool to finish
After that, turn on phone and activate "Unknown sources" and "USB-Debugging" under Application-Settings
Hit "Root" in flashtool
Wait for flashtool to finish and X10 to reboot
After reboot hit "Ask root permissions" in flashtool and select allow on you X10 (a popup will appear)
Hit "xrecovery" in flashtool
GETTING ROOTED 2.3.3 ON YOUR DEVICE:
First of all, you have to download the ROM you wish to install. This step should be clear, but you never know . Every of those ROMs comes in 2 parts. 1 update.zip and 1 kernel+baseband file for flashtool.
Copy the update.zip (name can be different!!) to your X10s SDcard
Reboot X10 into xRecovery (Keep hitting Back-button while X10 restarts)
Select "Factory Reset"
Select "Wipe Cache Partition"
Select "Advanced options" -> "Wipe Dalvik Cache"
Select "Install custom zip" and select the zipfile you copied to your SDCard
Wait for xRecovery to finish
After that, DONT REBOOT OR DO ANYTHING, JUST REMOVE ANY CONNECTED CABLE AND REMOVE BATTERY TO TURN OF PHONE
EXTRACT the kernel+baseband-File into flashtools firmware folder
Hit "Flash" in flashtool and select the copied kernel+baseband
Now insert battery again (make sure no cable is connected. Otherwise the phone will start into charging mode and you have to start again)
Press Back-button and connect cable
Wait for flashtool to finish
Start X10 and enjoy your rooted 2.3.3!
Hope this helps

I'm currently using Wolf's ROM and I can tell you there's definitely a difference. The speed is absolutely amazing. He's made some optimization tweaks and there's no lag at all. Everything runs totally smooth and the battery life is astonishing.

Doh!! I hadnt unpacked the bundle with winrar so flash obviously wouldnt work!!
Hi, i have a noob question:
I'm now on official 2.1 update 1 and rooted with Z4root a while ago.
When i start this tutorial, do i have to unroot first so i can root again with the above method or can i just start from step 1?
I think you can just start with installing xrecovery.
Ok, I started the tutorial and installed xrecovery with flashtool. But when i get to the step to select the update.zip file on my sd card, it says the card is not accessable. So i Restored my phone and booted it up to check if i can check my sd card via astro, everything works just fine. So i Started the tutorial all over, even reinstalled xrecovery and rooted again. I did this already 4 times now ,but still the same problem in recovery, what do i have to do ta access the sd card with the update on it in xrecovery?
Thanks

just extract the ftf file inside the .7z using winzip/7z/winrar.

How long does the process of restoring back to stock 2.1 take? I've been waiting 10min and its stuck on "flashing loader" I'm getting scared....
You forgot to mention ONE important step: having SEUS installed in order to have flashing driver required for flashtool.
question here,
i was using stock 2.3 last couple of day, yesterday i decided to flash custom rom so i followed this thread's guide. however how i stuck at stock rom 2.1 because i can't gain root access! this is weird i been using flashtool and z4root none of them giving me root access. anybody have any idea what's this problem?
thanks in advance!
Good evening
My x10i runs on a 2.2 by zhidzu and I want to get back to official SE and update to 2.3.
I connect to SE PC companion and when I try to update it, in preparation process I get a message saying that installation is not possible. Please can someone help me?
Thanks
Why dont u flash custom roms directly since you are already using a custom rom?
thanks for the reply!
I tried to backup phone to first setup but nothing... I have rooted it through z4root and the only 2.3 that I found is the official and some custom under development. I hate the fact that camera doesn not work normal and has only the "macro" option.
There are many good roms in the development section (http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=617&order=desc).
I personally like Wolf's rom, as it is very stable, and has Bravia & xLoud in it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192988
damn! Phone stuck at SE logo!
MAYDAY! Please help!!!
Hi, which rom did you flash? And it is normal for the phone to load a little longer (wait up to 5 minutes) for its first boot.
I put in SD wolf's rom, "install custom zip" through xRecovery, reboot, the end...
I have SE logo for 15'. Nothing happens

How to install this ROM?! [Fresh Install]
Reboot into xRecovery and make a back-up of your current ROM. (You'll need a working xRecovery or else it will say Device/SD Card busy).
Wipe the following in xRecovery:
Factory Reset (Full wipe)
Wipe Cache Partition
Wipe Dalvik Cache
Go to install Custom Zip and choose Wolf_GB_2.3_TW_V4.zip
The following steps are only required if you don't have the new 2.3 kernel and .71 baseband, if you do have them you can reboot your phone and enjoy this ROM.
Turn off the phone by taking out your battery when ROM installation is finished
Open Flashtool and flash the FTF Bundle I made available for download. Press on Flash and follow the steps given to put your x10 into flashmode and flash the baseband and kernel.
When Flashtool is finished you can plug out the USB, turn your phone on and enjoy this ROM!

Did you follow the instructions here? You will need to follow ALL instructions, just installing with custom zip will not work.
FINALLY!!! I made it! My mistake was the flashing and phone was not able to read sim. Thanks a lot!!! 100000 thanks for your time and your help!
No problem.
You can use wotanserver
I installed Wolf's rom but I do not see the Bravia engine option. Can you help me a bit?
Just flash this with xRecovery.

i have rooted My xperia x10i today. But i cant boot into xrecovery.. I was thinking that my phone has not been rooted yet but when i again tried to root it with superoneclick software it said that deivce is already rooted..
I also tried to install xrecovery from market.. I installed the app and opened it and clicked the button "Install xrecovery" a message apperaed for a litle time saying permission granted to xrecovery by superuser... After that there is a cross sign on the option under that button.... I watched a video in which instead of cross mark there was a tick mark... What is this??? and y?
Download Flashtool. Links are in the dev section. It will root/install xRecovery/do everything else for you. From now on, Flashtool is your best friend.

so again it´s in the development thread but short
Check if the desired rom need unloked bootloader if yes well there is a plugin in xda´s flashtool just use it and it will be fine
Maybe you want to backup your aps via titanium backup.
so if needed flash the desired/required Custom kernel. some roms only work with special kernel´s
Place Kernel´s wifi zip and the zip of desired rom on SD Card
Start xrecovery or cwm most custom kernel´s got both you see in rom description where to flash from.
but for both recovery´s you should wipe data(factory reset) and wipe dalvik Cach (advance settings)
if battery s full 100% it also fits that you can wipe battery stats. maybe your x10 will last 1-2 hours more
flash first the rom itselfs: Install Custum Zip/choose Zip/(Serch zip on sd) Flash
maybe there´s a need of flashing a hotfix same procedure
Flash the wifi modules zip for the kernel if needed
Reboot device (maybe on forst boot it stocks at bootscreen the just pull out the
battery and wat 1-2 minutes than put it back in and try again)
So now your on a custom rom. Many roms got the setup so of needed go thru setup procedure and welcome on your costum droid Xperia x10
After setup or after first enter on home screen reboot device first before you install anythinG it settles the rom to work better/properly
For notice most custom roms need a few hours to settle so dont be to hasty if something doesnt work right properly.
If i helped feel free to thank me
If you dont know which rom to use feel free to pm me i tried many ^^
greets darkmind
I flashed a custom rom which needed a custom kernel (but i did not install the kernel), now my x10 mini pro freezes at the white sony ericsson logo, i tried loading the flash recovery but it does not load.
This is the link to the rom:-forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1415026
Its my fault for not reading the instructions properly, if i flash the nAa kernel using flashtool will the problem be solved or is there a different process
Please help me, the help will be really appreciated.
try using seus or pc companion
Are you on stock kernel, right?
Try flahsing stock ROM using Flashtool and see if it works.
Thanks guys.
my cell is working again.
by the way i cant seem to load into recovery anymore, i dont know why
i tried xrecovery and clockworkmod but it doesnt work, so i tried rooting and re-rooting through different tools but to no avail.

So now it seems you're back to stock. Yay!
Did you fully reset the phone after going back to stock? It seems they're not installing because you don't have Superuser permission anymore.
It happened to me when I tried to flash MiniCM7. So I flashed the full stock ROM via Flashtool and managed to get root accees again, so I was able once again to install CWM.

First you need to ROOT (this installs "Superuser" application)
Download SuperOneClick [ http://dl.dropbox.com/u/64062539/s4a...lickv2.3.1.zip ]
You NEED to put your phone on USB Debugging mode
Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB Debugging (enable)
You NEED to make sure the Android drivers for your phone are installed. SE PcCompanion has this drivers embeded
[ http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/pc-companion/ ]
Make sure you DO NOT mount your SD card
Click ROOT on SuperOneClick,
Voila... your phone is Rooted
