I have a problem that A lot of the time my phone will drop to 1x data in low coverage area, which is fine, however it will often stay in it until i disconnect data and reconnect. Any ideas why it might be doing that... Evil fascination (latest) fresh odin rebuild from start

I get full bars on 4g and everynow and then my signal completly fades away, so then I get my 3g going and No data what-so-ever. And to top it off with a cherry on top, I turn WiFi on with full reception and I also get no data reception going I did a reboot and it was a failure, I flashed the ROM with a complete wipe and nada. Any help will be appreciate running synergy 304 BTW.
Literally every single day my "3G" or "4GLTE" symbol disappears and thus lose my data connection. The bars will remain, even with 3 or 4 bars (full signal), but the symbol is gone. I do not have the SLIGHTEST CLUE why it does this, I have tried different roms and different radio combinations and it still does it. It could be gone for 1 minute, 8 minutes, or like today THIRTY (30) minutes at one point! I use my phone for work AND HAVE TO HAVE a reliable connection. I literally sat on my tushy for 30 minutes trying to get my 3G or 4GLTE symbol back and it took restoring a different ROM for it to come back. Later in the day I restored back to the ROM I was on and the 3G was there with no problem.
I do not understand this for the Godforsaken life of me and am about ready to hurl my Thunderbolt at a train.
Help. Please.

I believe the bars indicate voice connection only, not data connection. It is possible to have a good voice signal, yet a weak data connection.
You're probably encountering this as your phone switches from 4g. Some reason it is not always a seamless transfer.

It's happening to me too. I'm not sure if it's because of issues switching from 4G to 3G, because prior to the most recent Gingerbread update, I was pretty consistently getting 4G, and now it'll drop the data connection even if I leave my phone on my nightstand all day.
I'm wondering if it has anything to do with my battery life getting way worse after the update? I've never done it before, but I'm seriously thinking about rooting and installing a custom ROM... or saving up and buying a Rezound at full retail.
I believe this is a known issue with this phone (and most other 4G phones). I don't see this problem when I'm in a very strong 4G area. But, at home, I have to use LTE On/Off to lock it into LTE-only mode. It's the only way to keep it from switching back and forth from 3G to 4G. (Sadly, I also need to leave the phone near a window to receive a 4G signal.)
Has anyone else experienced decreased data speeds when switching back and forth between 3G and 4G? Occasionally I'll travel through areas that don't have 4G coverage, and when my phone switches back to 4G from 3G my data speeds will plumit or the phone won't switch back to 4G unless I turn off data then turn it back on again.
Yesterday evening my phone's data speeds were crawling. I took the usual steps of turning off data, turning on airplane mode, restarting the phone, and pulling the battery. It wasn't until I pulled the sim card that my data speeds were back to normal. (Check the speed test results.) Is this in any way normal or is this a bug of some type?

I have not seen this specifically. I have noticed that sometimes the 4G speed seems slow, but have only seen it at work where service is generally spotty anyway. For me, when the 4G is super slow, it usually drops to 3G or even 1X (sometimes zero signal). I've been using the "LTE OnOFF - HTC Thunderbolt" utility by Cunning Logic with good success. Whenever my phone drops into 3G and doesn't come back (or no signal), I can force it back to 4G with the utility. I cannot say for sure, but the tool appears to turn off the radio, set the desired mode, then turn the radio back on. This usually resolves my issue, unless I am truly in a dead zone.
Just going into airplane mode will bring it back to 4G unless your on elm st. or something. I notice if you downloading our using data pretty heavily and it drops to 3G it won't always come back on It's own.

That's what I found odd. Everything indicated that I was still on 4G; I wasn't on 3G or 1X, but I definitely had speeds that belonged on 1X. I'm baffled - is this a hardware, software, or network issue?

Airplane mode doesn't do the trick for me. (And no, I don't live on Elm Street. ) My speeds dropped again this morning and I went straight for the SIM card; I didn't even bother trying airplane mode.
Like you, I've also noticed that after streaming a large amount of data that I'll drop to 3G and it won't switch back to 4G unless I toggle the mobile network off-and-on. I'm always streaming music on Spotify and I've seen this happen more times than I'd like.
I am not sure when/where/why, but since I switched to the roms based off the 3.17 OTA update, I have had no 1x Data on my EVO LTE. 3G/4G work fine, the HD Voice is great, but when I am outside of 3G range, I have no data connection whatsoever and the phone gives me data call failures almost nonstop.
I have tried flashing the latest radios, bootloader, etc but so far nothing has gotten my 1x data back. (though it is a bit tough to test. Is there a way to force 1X only on Sprint?)
Right now I am on the Sense 5 Y8 rom and while it is fantastic, I still want to get 1X back so I was wondering if formatting everything in Recovery, then running the latest RUU from HTC's site to hopefully restore/update everything in the phone would work.
That is the closest to force restoring the phone to default correct? Has anyone else had an issue similar to this?
OK guys hopefully you can help me. I have a Verizon LG G3 which I am trying to do something slightly unique. While at work I lose my LTE and drop down to 3g or more often 1x signal. When I look at my antenna levels I do usually have some 3g signal but the phone defaults to the stronger 1x. This makes data almost unusable. Is there some way that I can disable the 1x or lower the threshold where it switches over? On my old Galaxy Nexus I almost never was on 1x. I understand that if I do that I could potentially be unable to make a call or use data but I am OK with this.
I am quite familiar with rooting (if need be) but I haven't done this phone yet.
The phone doesn't default to the stronger signal ,it falls back when LTE or 3x is unusable. its not seeing a stable signal in LTE or 3x, I don;t think you can fix that. If it always choose the Strongest signal ,then you would never have LTE You might try removing your battery for 30 seconds in the area you want reception then power back up which might update the tower data , But I doubt that will help. You also might get lucky with the next update to Android 5.0 when Verizon will also update the modem firmware.

Thanks for the reply. I see what your saying about never getting 4g if it looks for the strongest signal but there must be some sort of script or setting which tells it which antenna to use. I would be OK with never having 1x (ie: no signal when 3g wasnt available) if there was some way to disable it. I am hoping the 5.0 update helps as well.
