I uninstalled the stock calendar app in the past and now I want it back. So i decided to do a hard reset on the phone.
However, after hard reset, I can go into the android setup, then it would prompt that "setup wizard" has stopped working unexpectedly, and the setup is force closed.
the homescreen is blank. there is nothing I can do with this phone right now. screen touch works. capacitive buttons work. USB connection works.
One thing I noticed is that the hard reset takes a very short time. I think the streak is just rebooted in the process. Takes less than a minute. The last time I did a hard reset was when I just bought it, and it took much longer than 1 minute.
Thank you.
Was the Streak rooted? Do you know what ROM/baseband you were on?
If you don't have Nandroid backup, my recommendation is total rebuild:
http://streakdroid.com/?page_id=92
If you have 64 bit OS make sure you follow those instructions first.
Good luck.
Yes. This is how I solved the problem this morning by flashing streak droid. I found an article and the author had the exact same problem. will try to flash 354 rom tomorrow.

It was on 347. Not sure about the base band. It's one of the $99 streaks.
Yes it's rooted.

I cannot watch YouTube anymore without it freezing. The audio still plays but the video stops. I have my Streak on AT&T's 2.2. This happens on all roms I have had, not just this one...

That is the same issue that I brought up with them, told me do hard factory resets and that will fix the problem, replied that i have tried doing that several times, then they set me up for replacement, received the replacement the following day, it was pretty quick! The replacement came from Texas, took just 1 day to get here to Louisiana.

I have done resets also but for other issues and youtube still does the same. I hate doing that after i finally get it the way I want it!
I'm in TX. Dell is based in Round Rock, about 4 hours from me so I would think it would get here fast also. I'm married to a Cajun, last name is Hebert...
Resorted to asking for replacement after everything I tried failed, I also got issues with video capture, camera would freeze, streak shuts down, reboots and get stuck on dell logo. Now my Streak is doing perfectly well, will stay with 340 for a while although DJ Steve's ROM are really good, started using 1.6.0 up to 1.8.1. Hope your next streak would be awesome!
Haven't had my Streak turned on in a while. Was going to sell it but changed my mind -- for now. When I turned it on today I see that there is a Dell Mobile upgrade. Wondering "when was this released?" [still downloading] and HOPING it clears up the problem I was having with my extended battery not showing the actual time remaining.
Probably the 2.2.2 update that was pushed out a couple weeks ago.
I just got around to installing it a couple days ago. If you want to dump the annoying ooVoo program that launches at boot, you'll need to root it.
I used gingerbreak which was painless. After you root, then you can use an uninstaller to dump it, along with whatever bloat you want off the phone.
I have actually rooted my Streak and then set it aside without changing to another rom .. I will take a look today.. Has anyone found a rom that will show the actually charge left using the extended battery?
Have you tried resetting the battery stats through either streak mod or cwm recoveries?

My Streak started acting word last month giving a lot of force closures and stuff. I first began batteling this by installing Streakdroid 1.9 and that was fine for a couple weeks.
Then the force closures came back. Along with random freezes and reboots. I was just living with that until my streak stopped communicating with the cell towers. It became stuck in airplane mode but I could still turn on wifi.
So I installed gingerstreak and enjoyed that for a day before the random restarts came back with a vengeance. I suspected the amss.mbn file.
I then used the QDL tool to get my streak back to the 309 radios. I installed 309 via the awesome multirecoveryflasher. I then allowed my streak to update itself to 351 and spots there.
And it was great for a day. I had no random restarts no fcs.
I installed a chess app and was playing a game when the capacitive buttons blinked 3 times and my phone shutdown.
That began the continuous blinking lights reboot cycle. I got my streak out of that by reapplying the update package and doing a couple factory resets.
So now it is working again, but sometimes it freezes, blinks the lights, and restarts maybe a few times before it fully boots up and allows me to use it for a while.
Is my streak hosed??

Given that you had a done a factory reset, i take it that the restarts also happen with just the stock apps?
Could it be faulty ram or sdcard perhaps? Maybe try taking out/in the sdcard?

Yes it was happening even after the factory reset.
That could maybe be the issue. I did recently get a new 32gb sd card for my Streak. But, I tested device with the built in diagnostics and both the internal and external sd cards passed.

Could either swap back to the old one and see if you still have problems or try dismount/mount/formatting the new sdcard again i guess.
Is there a chance it is my sim card?
I had the restart loop thing happen again today. So I pulled my sd card and still looping restarts. Then I pulled the sim card and my phone started right up.
Like I am going to put my sim card back in and see what happens now.

Restart loop with my sim card in but phone starts with it out. Tried it with the sim out again and restart loop.
Tried it with another sim and phone started fine. Tried my sim again and my phone started.
So my sim card is back in now but I think I am going to get a new one from at$t tomorrow.

Hmm that's weird haha
Well at least you narrowed down the problem
Hope everything works well after the exchange
Ok so new sim card and flashing lights restart loop.
Super happy not fun or really happy time. :-(
Guess I need to send my steak for repair?
It is working right now. Do you think I have anything left to try?

You can also try flashing the 351 "amss.mbn" and "dsp1.mbn" file from http://<<mirror2.streakdroid.com>>/manii//351/ (remove the << and >>)
Amazing! I have exactly same problem as you, and with similar timeline! (starting to think it's like some Dell timebomb to force us to buy new tablet ;-)
Already tried everything like you. When works, it's OK until it start to connect to 3g, connection works for some time (minute or so) and then streak freezes (i need to remove battery) or reboots with flashing buttons. After that, it simply turns into Dell logo bootloop with battery draining (and overheating) fast or it reboots to android gui and when connects to mobile network buttons flashes and reboot again.
When i remove simcard, it often boots almost normally, although i noticed few times that it was reboooting without simcard, but much less frequently.
Then i need to remove battery for few hours, after that, it usually it turns on (better luck if i remove sim card).
Hoped that it's some kind of software error, but when i tried almost every available rom (stock or modded) i'm pretty much convinced it's hardware problem: some electronic failure, possible overheating sensitivity (although i did checking battery temperature when reboots happened - it was not as much - 30-33°C) or internal sd failure (although i can't see what it has to do with simcard as a source of problem...).
I tried 351 stock and amss and dsp, and did not help.
htcjikelly, please report if you have find some info about our problem (i'll do same)
unfortunately, i noticed that normal working periods are shorting rapidly, so i think that problem is progressing, and wouldn't be surprised to se my streak dead soon :-(
hopefully not before i try my warranty...

I have not been able to restore my Streak to total rock solid function. My brother had one lying around and he gave it to me.
So now I have one of the white streaks with 1.6 on it. I want to pull a backup from this new phone to see what that will do to my old one. I've got to figure out how to do that first though.
There's got to be a way. Maybe I can copy everything off the white one's internal SD card and copy it to my old one.
The warranty. I purchased one from squaretrade and I supposedly have one with AT&T as well. Maybe I should look into that.
Same problem here
I have the same problem with my streak, it randomly reboot, the lights flashes some times and it stay in a loop for a while.
But I live in Brazil, and can rma this thing, actually, I can do nothing, because it wasn't launch in Brazil oficially, and it's second handed.
I need some help.
Im really trying to figure out what the chances of permanant damage being done by installing cm7. It was extremly hard to get my touchpad and to lose it would be horrid. My question is has there been any confirmed bricks from installing cm7? If theres even one i will wait till its out of alpha cant break my tp.
If I'm not mistaken, webos doctor makes that nearly impossible.
edit: reboot was successful after a few tries
Houston, we have a problem.
I installed CM7 last night. Restored all my apps from phone and got it all set up. Rebooted a few times and it was working flawless. Plugged it into the charger and went to sleep.
Today, the device is dead.
Perhaps it's completely frozen, idk.
Holding power and home for 30 seconds didnt reboot it?

Well, w/e, it finally worked haha. Thanks. I had given it up for the time being lol.
There is a guy who has broken his Touchpad while installing CM. The Touchpad didn't had enough battery for completing the whole process, and it is just brick now. The guy made a post on XDA I don't remember where.

If it's the same one I saw, he followed it up by saying that holding power+menu brought it back after a charge.
Bricking requires overwriting something in partitions 1-12, which is let's just say difficult to do accidentally with cm's kernel.
There's is another thread about screen issues but I don't think I'm having the same problem.
Since about Feb, my venue 7 screen freezes up when it sleeps or use the button to screen lock. I can see the unit has not frozen up, as apps will still update in the background. However, the screen is completely unresponsive. My only fix is to reboot the device.
I have done a complete wipe at least 4x and tried updating firmware a couple times without luck.
Any suggestions or advance trouble shooting tips would be appreciated.

My Venue 8 is doing the same thing. The screen will freeze while the app continues. After a few calls to Dell, they are asking for me to return the tablet and they'll "fix" it. Hopefully they can as I really like the tablet.
I received a replacement unit, which I then destroyed by dropping it. They never asked me to ship the original back, so I thought I'd have another run at fixing it.
I was hope a complete wipe would help but not so far.
