There's been no mention of QIK upgrading to support 3D video, has there?
It would be really cool if I could stream live 3D footage from concerts I attend.
I guess the question is, more generally, what support is there on the web as a whole for 3D photos and video? Presumably at the very least, I can save the images in a red/cyan format and force my friends and family to don 3D glasses to view my facebook albums?
I'm sure an entire cottage industry will grow allowing Evo 3D owners to get lenticular photos and holograms created of their pictures

Will the evo 3D save the 3D pictures as Jpeg, or is there some kind of 3D filetype out there already? Also, what about 3D video? Mp4? (I know people might not know this yet, since it's not released)
On video, I dont know what it uses, but I supplied what it can play. If I had to guess I'd go with MP4 so that it can be watched on other devices as well being that it is very popular.
Photo Format: JPG
Video Formats: MP4/Xvid/H.263/H.264/WMV player

I had the optimus 3d for a week and the pictures were saved as .jps (jpeg stereoscopic, i think) and the videos were saved as .mp4
so even though it's stereoscopic, these are regular old Jpegs that can be displayed in 2D, on any display with any software that handles typical Jpegs? And does the same go for video?
If its anything like my 3DS it makes 2 copies when you take one pic, one is a .jpg and the other is .mpo. The .mpo is only viewable on 3D screens and you use the normal .jpg for MMS, Facebook, and stuff like that. But nobody knows.
I've been informed by HTC the video is mp4 with a 3D header (side by side)
Photos are JPS (industry standard, Stereo JPEG) which is basically a renamed JPEG file with both images side by side, right eye on the left, left on the right (cross eye)
you can rename them to view on a PC but you will see both photos at the same time.
Looking for a video editor that can edit the 3d video from the evo 3d and keep it in a format that can be uploaded to YouTube.
?
you need any editor that can edit h264 with aac audio within mp4 container
then export as the same, when uploading to youtube just put in the right yt3d keywords
I use Adobe Premiere for mine
The trim software that came with the 3d phone is a great addition. I've used it a lot since shooting with my EVO 3d. It helps to shrink the video's to fit on youtube without needing a wifi connection.
How exactly did you use premier to edit the video? I tried premier it always messed up the format. I think tried the new vegas with 3d support. That would mess up the file as well. tried a few other editing programs with 3d support and none of them even recognize the video as being 3d and try to make it 3d and thus why they all dont do it right.
It always shows up with two views when i try to look at it again on the device, sometimes with four.
I just want to edit together simple clips nothing too crazy.

you don't need 3D editing software, the actual video is 1 file with them side by side, load it in to a 720p project, the video will fit in to that fine, edit as you would normally, then export as 720p too
nothing else to do, it's that simple
Magix Movie Edit Pro 17 Plus HD supports 3D video editing.
I saw this just the other day and the article was in my trash, but here is a link to the article that talks about it and a bunch of other video editors.

ok ive done that already it wont work. The video shows up as two images on the device when I try to watch it. Im trying to edit the video to watch it on my evo 3d. Whenever I upload it to the device directly or to youtube it messes up the 3d and plays with the two pictures and sometimes four side by side.
What export setting are you using besides 720p? Are you able to watch the video on your evo 3d?

when playing press menu > play in 3D
it's the only way to do it at the moment (or end the name of the file with "3D")
What are the Adobe Premiere settings that you are using to edit EVO 3D footage. My project is 1280 x 720, 29,97, 441Hz Compressed. Premiere loads the mp4 into the timeline then Premiere locks up. I am using CS4 Premiere Pro.

I use wondershare ultimate, its like $65 BUT if you know where to look its fr33.
Normally I dont indulge in things of that nature, $65 for software that will be used for me and my phone only (no uploading/sharing) is a little high.
Go ahead flame on, just remember when pointing a finger you have 3 pointing back at you
I have Tversity setup. and can stream videos/songs to my phone. i just added my 3D content to stream. (youtube videos. and the select 3D movies i do have converted to work on the Evo3D).. and it'll stream them.. but Rockplayer, won't display them in 3D.. just SBS.. Same with ES Video Player... are there any players out there, that will support the Streaming (From the web). that will let you watch 3D content in 3D?
The playback software has to be programmed to support the 3D display technology this phone uses. As both the EVO 3D and LG Optimus 3D use this same technology, and I'm sure there will be other phones with it coming out in due time, it's only a matter of time before app devs start including such functionality. You may be able to prompt them to do so sooner by sending them a polite email.
Currently, it seems only YouTube and the default Gallery app support 3D video playback on this phone.
I have searched and read guides for handbrake and freemake regarding transcoding for the EVO 3D movies to play on the EVO 3d. My problem is I have tried using a couple different sbs movie files. I will get an end product of movie with video that works with no sound or I have sound with a flashing screen. Any help would be awesome. BTW I followed the guides as to all codec resolution audio etc
Where are the guides located? I've been trying to play 3D movies on it myself
+1 on interest of topic. Would love to have more 3d movies on it.

thnx
Yeah, I know it's possible cause my movies are in stereoscopic format, made for "side by side" non-glasses viewing, but it's frustrating I can't find anywhere online how to view them on my 3VO. So I decided it was finally time to join XDA forums
I know one of y'all can help!
It's remarkably confounding: no preloaded app/player for media! (Watch doesn't count as you can only buy/rent and play from their store.) If I could just open the video player and load the 3D movie file, I'm sure it would work... I'm referring to the built-in video player that only opens [for me] when viewing a 3D video that I've recorded, opened from the Gallery... ;-/
@keen77
I used this guide to get 3D movies transcoded to my EVO 3D:
www [dot] goodandevo [dot] net/2011/06/how-to-make-your-existing-3d-videos-play-nice-with-the-htc-evo-3d.html (sorry as a XDA newb I’m not allowed to post links).
[By the way, this is a great website to stay informed on developments concerning your EVO 3D!]
I only don't recommend using Handbrake (on which the article is based) but rather Freemake Video Converter (see way down the same article). Freemake is WAY superior, both in transcoding performance (quality & speed), ease of use and user interface (which could arguably be called "beautiful"). Use the same settings as the article suggests for Handbrake (including changing the resolution to 960x540) and you should be good to go! I only used this on HD videos 1920x1080 with half side-by-side, but it works perfectly on them.
I only have a problem with the fact that some videos at my disposal have the left and right images swapped the wrong way (which off course has nothing to do with the to mentioned video convertors). Watching this is a very confusing experience!
Does someone know how you can easily swap the left and right images in (half) SBS video's? I tried StereoMovie Maker (stereo [dot] jpn [dot] org/eng/stvmkr/index.html), but it stops saving the "swapped file" halfway through the saving process... and besides that the proces involves 3 transcodings (original->avi [Freemake], avi->swapped-avi [StereoMovie Maker], avi->mp4 [Freemake]) which doesn't do the quality any good and is lengthy.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Flipping the phone over corrects the 3D in those cases.
What do you mean "corrects the 3D," and in what cases? Sorry don't follow
Go into the Themes & Apps section for the Evo 3D and loom at the posts stickied. One talks about 3D movies.

I did one up in handbrake today. It was a 1080p side by side. I just dropped the frame down to qhd and then ran it with my normal 3vo settings. It dropped the file size down from 4.7 giggers to just over half a gig.
I have a video folder on my root that I move them info that shows up in the stock gallery app. When playing you need to hit menu and choose view in 3d.
It's a crap movie, but it was the only of the type I could find lol

Unfortunately, no. See like you said. The Evo 3D uses stereoscopic technology to display 3D images and videos. Now unless you have a computer that is 3D (In which I don't believe there are any) you will not be able to view those videos or images on your PC. Sorry .
