[Q] Roms 1.5 or 2.1? - Hero, G2 Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I recently switched back to my Hero, I never experienced 1.5 ROMs because 2.1 dropped the day I got my Hero, I'm just wondering if at this point 2.1 ROMs are just as good as the old 1.5 ones or do the 1.5 ones still offer the best stability/battery life?
If anyone could point me in the direction of a stable ROM with a long battery life (1.5 or 2.1) that would be lovely.
Thank you,
couponfork

Try VillainROM 13. It's based on 2.1 and has good battery life.

i think that the 1.5 ones have better battery life
i use Elelinux-7.1.0-Hero-v2.4 Android 2.3.4 .. its very stable and the battery last more that 2 days with heavy use

here rom 1.5

You should try an AOSP rom. Its got a better battery life than a sense rom.
I would recommend you to try one of these.

Bought mine with the 1.5 rom two years ago. The 1.5 stock rom was laggy crap (sorry ...) compared to the 2.1 or higher roms. Believe me: You won't try a 1.5 rom, even if battery would last for a month.

fast and stable ROM
Flash a custom ROM and use Droid Overclock to set CPU Frequency Scaling. Make one profile to overclock when screen on, and one to underclock when screen off. Will make your device quick when in use, and save battery when not in use. I'm not a specialist, this is my understanding of it. And it is what I have done and I've never been more satisfied with my Hero. I have Elelinux-7.1.0 v2.7
The CPU settings that seems to work for me is: Screen on - max 576 MHZ, min 264 MHZ smartass. Screen off - 176/19 MHZ smartass. Many will probably have better suggestions and more knowledge to other settings that is better, but this is what i use and i'm happy with it.
Will anyways be better than a 1.5 ...

Sense or nonsense for battery

I have villain 5.4 installed just now and battery is poor. The music player burns about 30% and hour.
Would I get better battery life with a non sense rom? If so what would you guys recommend?
Also what would I lose buy going back to 1.5?
I was also using Villain 5.4 and variuos other 2.1 roms. I rolled back to Kimera 1.6 because of the poor batterylife on 2.1 roms overall. Plus i recognized that most 1.5 roms are still a lot faster (espacially Kimera + overclock).

Cronos Droid 2.0.2 vs VillainROM 12.0.0

I was wondering if anyone did a comparison between those two roms. I like Sense but want fast and stable rom. Which one is more stable, faster, has longer battery life, doesn't crash too often, and stuff like APS2SD and 3d Gallery work flawlessly?
Best way is: try it out yourself Everyone has their subjective look on it and their own preferences.
tried Cronos 1.7.1 and had problem with APS2SD... VillainROM 12.0.0 had a problem with battery being drained too quickly after I reset it at 5% (as suggested by many). I'm just looking for stable rom untill developers get Froyo up and running
I think I will go with stock 2.1 for now
http://www.villainrom.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=100&t=1973
Cronos 2.0.2 all the way
so I tested all three roms myself and from user experience here is what I found:
stock rom is very slow and once I installed it I wanted to switch right away, the battery life in VillainROM 12.0.0 is not that great and plus it gets buggy if I set my CPU at 176 with screen off (works perfect at 190), Cronos 2.0.2 is a keeper the battery life is way better than other roms I tried and my Hero wakes up flawlessly when CPU is set to 176.
I am using the Villain 12 with the kernel and optimizations here: (my kernel & optimizations )
http://www.villainrom.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=97&t=1928
I have no battery issues, no wake up issues and speed is great at 691/160 (using SetCPU with no profiles).
I don't know about Cronos 2.0.2, but with 2.0.1 I had some minor problems. Here no issues at all.
I have used both (only used Chronos for a day before I got bored, fiddled with it and broke it )
Chronos seemed faster for the bit I used it, but there doesn't seem to much in it. Apps2sd ect. work fine in both. Will check battery life later.
Its down to personal choice, try both and see what you like, you can't try them for short periods though keep each for over a day if you really want to try them out.
Many people prefer different things in roms and it depends what you want to do with them.
Just a quick fact about cronos droid 2.0.2. My highest fps that i got from neocore was 32.3fps which In my opinion is excellent. So if you want good 3d, this might be something to consider about.

[Q] Gingerbread Battery Life Vs Froyo

I am wondering what kind of battery life people are getting with the Gingerbread leak and subsequent Gingebread ROMs compared to their froyo companions. For example, people who have switched from Das Bamf froyo to Das Bamf gingerbread, etc...
I am running Das Bamg 1.6.3 and leankernel 2.5 with extreme custom undervoltage and I am getting absolutely fantastic battery life, and I'm not sure about making the switch to GB because of it. Will GB improve battery life even further? Thanks guys.
IMO froyo kernels are further in development and will probably get better life but I love the sense 3.0 like gb roms so I'm sticking with em

Personally my battery has been horrible, pretty much back to how it was when I first got this phone, although I'm on 4g most of the day and overclocked to 1.4 so I really can't complain. I've seen a lot of people saying they haven't noticed any difference in battery life though. Its definitely worth loading, working netflix, lock screen is awesome. I'm sure the devs are working non-stop, thanks guys!

GB battery life is definitely lower for me, by a decent amount. Still sticking with it though.

Not bad..

My battery life has suffered since moving to GB. I've considered going back to BAMF Remix 1.6.3, but I had random reboots and shutdowns with that rom. There are always drawbacks, you just have to decide what is and isn't important.
I actually disabled push email on my work account. I set it to manual. I'm at a time of the year where I don't need push email. That has helped the battery, but it's still not as good as Froyo.
So my decision came between barely getting through a day on a single charge or having my phone crap out on me a couple of times a day? I decided to stick with the poor battery life.
I'm on battsaver mode with lean kernel for GB...imo is still tweaking the kernel with battery drain and charging issues...not as good as froyo yet but good enough for my daily ROM
I stuck with using perfect storm 1.4 with imosyen extreme that has by far given me the best battery life. Most days I am over 10 hours with normal use. On gingeritis I was getting around 7. Still not bad but the functionality on Perfect Storm 1.4 is far better than on das bamf or gingeritis.

Is that on 3g or 4g?
I was on GB for 5 days. i could def tell a loss in battery life on it. But it wasnt enough to make me change back. i was loving GB. I am now going back because of the radio scare.

I am on 4g most the time... also read the thread about gb brickiing phones....for sure stay with froyo
My battery life was definitely not what it was on froyo BAMF 1.6.3.. I've since flashed back from 2.0, because of the bootlooping/brick shenanigans.. I miss my Sense 3.0 elements, but I really don't wanna go through the hassle of going to VZW for a replacement phone lol

[Q] HTC Sensation ICS best rom for saving power

Hello ladies and gents. I am trying to find the best ICS rom for the HTC sensation when it comes to the battery life. I understand the roms on here are works in progress, I would just like to find a good rom that isn't too hard on the battery life. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Here's one for you mannn, I installed this on my brother's sensation and it's battery life lasts really long, longer then most gingerbread ROMS. It's also stable and what not.

Thanks, I've tried both Seamless blitz and 10.1. When I use them for about medium use, the battery life drops nearly 10 percent withing the hour.

Thanks, I've downloaded this ROM, just haven't put it on my phone yet, so I will give it a try. I used Virtous ROMs on my mytouch 4g, and they were great.

[Q] Battery Life in custom roms (Xperia Mini Pro)

I am running on an Xperia Mini Pro and have tried just about every custom ROM available.
What is the best one for battery life?
FXP (CM 7.2 and 9.0) seem equally bad so far, usually lasting slightly less than a day with very little use. I find that my phone tends to get warm when running these ROMs.
Nero ICS and Hybro ICS seemed to give me between a day and two days.
I can get 2-3 days out of Sony's stock ICS ROM and about the same out of their stock GB rom.
Does anyone have any tips on increasing battery life? I usually run Juice Defender. Why do custom ROMs suffer from such poor battery life compared to Sony's stock ROMs?

Thanks,
Tim

Hey,
I would say for the moment stock ICS is the best your going to get. If you want to stay with ICS?
Dont use task killers or anything like that they waste more battery than they save and they mess with android native tasking. Juice defender, I dont know much about it but so I wont comment, but I would say that if you turn off wifi and BT and things when you aren't using then you shouldn't need anything to make your battery last longer. Also make sure the wifi sleep policy is set to 'always stay on' and yeah that should be about it tbh.
Cheers,
Evil
My suggestion is
