So, i've had the eris since Dec '09...been rooted for a long time...played with many ROMs...lots of root-req apps, etc etc. i'm pretty proactive and i pay attention...but this one has me stumped:
about 5-6 days ago my battery started draining fast as hell...looking at what was using the battery it said Android OS, Display, then Android System. everything else was insignificant. right now stats (47m 22s since unplugged):
Android OS 49%
Display 13%
Android System 9%
that is HUGE compared to any time i've ever looked before. i'm running KaosFroyo v38 (complete fresh flash, though this problem started while using v37). List of apps...those with a star i can remember have updated recently:
chrome to phone
music junk*
SetCPU (set to 19200 - 604800, profile of screen off 160 - 480)
snesoid
switchpro widget
tapatalk pro
wireless tether
quick boot
usaa mobile
tfln +widget
touiteur (and premium)
Premotedroid
Winamp
adfree
the weather channel
skype
wiimote controller
shazam*
GPS Status & toolbox
astro file manager
my verizon*
launcherpro*
flex dialer lite
qwiklist voice
chandroid
facebook for android*
google voice
gmail
google maps
street view on google maps
my best guess is the problem is LauncherPro but i don't know how to monitor an app like that. any ideas?
I would check your network usage. If an app is constantly sending/receiving data, then it'll drain your battery pretty quick. I don't think it would be LauncherPro. I've been using the paid version for a long time now and have no problems with it.
Get spare parts. It will give you a more accurate look at the battery usage.

Under battery history, in spare parts, I selected network usage and one of the bars is named "0". When I select it, the history portion of the app force closes. This "0" app is the big drain.

I've seen the "0" mystery app before and couldn't figure out what it was. It wasn't draining my battery though.
Hey Anyone else in Canada experiencing their atrix freezing (especially when logging on to a new network...like say in the States) but also for no apparent reason.
My atrix has also been using high CPU cycles recently for no reason (minimum, 52 % but usually around 60-70%). I have frozen a lot of the motorola apps with Titanium but this freezing was there before. I am also using launcher pro. At first titanium and launcher pro really helped speed up my phone (not using motoblur made the phone snappier and more responsive), but now it's just back to the high cpu usage.
I should mention that I do have system manager and the advanced task manager and AVG installed but I dont using the task manager to end tasks and system manager is only to check the cpu cycles.
Frankly I am stumped.
If you've frozen something that shouldn't be it can cause erratic behavior. Unfreeze everything and see if the problem persists.
If it's fixed, slowly freeze apps again taking note about what you're freezing. It's sometimes best to try letting the OS handle things on it's own. When you put constraints on it, it can lead to irregular behavior.
Just want to ask, is there any compatibility issues on SK17i with the NFS shift android game or the like. Also, is there a specific minimum/maximum requirements to play this game?
When I Run this game I just see the logo and then it goes black and turns me back to the icon screen. Need help on using this.
Also as of now my total available space remaining:
MicroSD Card - 324 mb
Internal - 128 mb
The phone is updated on the latest android version 2.3.4
And is there any software that can transfer internal memory to external memory?
And also, is there any way to speed up or stabilize the speed for SK17i?
Nah man. Nfs shift are fully compatible with sk17i.
Dude, don't worry, nfs shift runs perfectly smooth on sk17I, even my old lg optimus one with only 600mhz processor runs it smoothly how does your sk17I doesn't run it smoother?
For transferring any apps from internal memory to sd card, I recommend using Link2sd. Search it from the market

plus i dont really like downloading stuffs from applanet, the apk's are outdated. try find another apk from google. or maybe u just can buy it from the market to support the developers
Hmmm... It was recommended by a friend and I was just trying to test if it'll work on my Xperia mini pro.
Hope you could recommend the best android market that you know of.
and if there is a way or an app that can stabilize the processing speed or balance the flow of the RAM so that when you still use it for long periods of time it still have that same speed on openning and closing applications or programs on this android phone.

i recommend using Appbrain App Market. my favorite market so far and many people like it.
for speed, try overclocking your cpu using Setcpu or No Frills app but you need a specified kernels to do so and an unlocked bootloader. check out xperia mini pro android development forum.
for ram, you can use any task killer app from the market. it works and free up more of your ram but i didnt recommend it. but you can still use it.

Personally, I'm against task killers.
Android will kill old processes itself, when it feels it needs more memory. Task killer uses itself memory to kill the apps, which actually might be later needed(and then takes longer to load them). Killing tasks doesn't give that much speed.
That's my personal opinion.
Myself, I use only V6 Supercharger on rooted phone with custom ROM to improve my phone's speed, it changes the minfree amounts, that is when Android should kill some unneeded tasks.

But why in app like "ram manager pro" we have option for gamers which means that we will have set auto killer to very aggressive (for example 300 MB free).
Is it necessary to play games? Or android kill all app which his need?

yep it is necessary for game...if not u would suffer terrible lag and even ur phone might reboot it self
android do have the setting to kill app but it is not as aggressive as ram manager pro...etc
I can confidently tell you, I never used any of them apps and have no problem with lags in any RAM-intensive games I've played. App drawer needs to relaunch after I leave the game, but otherwise no trouble.. Also around 650MB RAM usage on average for me too.
Some games I'm playing are MC4, Shadowgun: Dead Zone and Asphalt 7.
I have not explored this and am wondering if I did this, would I notice any performance increase? My tablet isn't sluggish by any means despite Sense being what it is.
Is this something worth looking into? And more importantly, if it is, what exactly is worth freezing on the Jetstream? OR how do I go about just deleting these apps without crashing my device? I usually rely on ROMs from Devs to do these things, but being rooted, we have the ability to delete and freeze the Apps, yea?
Apps I have in mind for freezing/deleting are:
Gameloft, ATT branded bloatware, HTC Likes, HTC Hub, Featured Apps, Kid Mode, Lets Golf, Need for Speed, HTC Watch (is a hog, for some reason), Snapbooth, Teeter, YPMobile, and zinio.
Thanks guys. Hopefully this helps others as well.
i just recently installed go launcher, trying to get the device running smoother. the launcher itself isn't quicker, but he does have some pros.
one of them is the task manager widget that shows you which apps are running in the background.
i found out that google+, htc people, and some other apps are starting spontaneously, without me ever using them.
so try installing a task manager widget, and follow your background processes
interesting. I don't use g+. I will just uninstall it.
How about freezing or removing sys apps?
i froze them using titanium. no issues caused so far..
about system apps - i'm running diablo v1.2 so alot was removed already..and according to the widget non of them pop up..

I noticed something similar. I use an app called Rom Toolbox. It displays all the processes that start up with system boot. Many such as facebook, google + and a host of other things, I do not use regularly. So i just disabled the auto-start of those services using ROM Toolbox and it doesn't autorun now. Don't know how effective it is, but when I do check the running apps section under manage applications in settings, I do not see the unnecessary apps running and the memory freed up is more as compared to prior disabling. However I haven't noticed much of a difference in my daily usage of the rom hence don't know how effective it is.
I also use Quick System Information Pro. It has a task clearer widget which I find extremely useful and effective. Whenever I feel that my tab is working a bit slow, I just press on the widget icon and it clears up in the range of 200-300 MB of ram thereby preventing slow down of the tab. It does work with non-Sense launchers as well such as Go Launcher HD.
Using Titanium I uninstalled a lot of the bloatware and froze Sense. Cleared the cache and dalvik using CMW, and things have been working fine up to now. Performance-wise, no lagging and everything seems to run fine. Only kept Google's stock apps like maps and stuff, even though I don't use them.
Also note that I backed up everything I uninstalled just in case, so everything's dandy. Oh, and I reverted back to the stock kernel a while back (still rooted, though).
Quick question, if I clear the cache manually or dalvik through Titanium, does it do the same thing CMW does? It should work the same way and only need a restart, right?

I Froze all the AT&T/HTC Bloatware, however I continue to have FREEZING problems with the YouTube (even after uninstalling the Upgrade).
My work around is to use the YouTube on the stock Browser.
Hope a Permanent FIX for the YouTube app comes sooner than later
