So, my battery on Froyo MIUI, by the dearly missed Trip, was very very good.
Using CPU Spy (a great app, by the way), I could see that my phone was falling in Deep Sleep
almost immediately after turning off the screen, resulting in battery life of about 30-40 hours.
Also, in Spare Parts (or *#*#4636#*#*), battery history showed a Running percentage that was not more than 5-10% above the Screen On.
One day I was messing with my settings and changed some things and since then,
I noticed battery drain and CPU Spy indicated that my phone did not sleep half the time
and the Dialer* was keeping the phone awake 80-90% of the total uptime.
(*Actually the "Dialer" in this case has nothing to do with your dialer/contacts application.
It represents the internal process com.android.phone.)
I tried everything, I flashed different basebands, reinstalled ROM, wiped data, the result was exactly the same.
Until I figured out the culprit:
In Settings->Common->Call Settings in the Phone Calls section,
I had to disable Flip to silence, Grip to fade and Disable in darkness,
leaving only the Proximity sensor on.
That took care of my issues and the phone has gone back to an amazing battery life!
I believe this applies to all MIUI ROMs and probably CM too,
and every ROM that has these dialer functionalities.
I hope I've been of some help!
Cheers!
Thanks, I will disable these functions. I don't need them !

If you or anyone else wants to get PHENOMENAL battery life of let's say 15 hours of use and still have 40%-50% battery left on a regular stock battery on the Rezound, just follow these steps:
1. Go to Settings - Power - Power mode Choose "Economy"
2. Back at Power options, Click on "Economy mode setting" I left the setting as "Normal" which means that the only box that was unchecked was "Disable background data"
3. Back at Settings, Click on "Accounts & sync" Uncheck the "Auto-Sync" box, but leave the "Background data" box checked.
4. Using whatever Screen Brightness tool you want to, set the screen brightness to no more than 20%. The only exception to this is if you are out in the sun and really need to see your screen while in the sun (navigation or etc...). Other than that, I never need it to be brighter than 20%.
5. Because of these changes, you will have to manually "Refresh" your email app to check for new mail. Other than that, everything data wise should work as normal.
I always have my 4G LTE and GPS on and ever since I did this, I have been getting RIDICULOUS battery life! This best it has been is when I charged it completely and unplugged it at 10pm and the next day around 1pm I still had 62% battery left. On a normal basis where I take it off the charger at 8am, with normal use (3 hrs of music, 1 or 2 of web surfing and video watching, 1 hour of phone calls, and Google Talk and Google Voice and GMail all day *literally*) I have about 50% battery left at 7pm.
Disclaimer: I have "Bump Charged" my battery before making these changes. However, I never saw this type of battery life until I made the above changes. Also, if you constantly watch video (Youtube or etc..) you will not see quite this performance, but it will still be much better than what you are currently experiencing.
Enjoy
Turn off data and you can get multiple days on battery

You can also use the app Screen Filter to turn off the bottom row of leds.

So you have an extended battery then? If so, might be good to include that info in your post just to be clear. Not that that wouldn't help any battery, but the stats will make more sense and the answers to your poll may be more accurate since people might think their results aren't as good as yours if they're using a regular battery.
I'll change my settings and try it since I don't need instant notification of emails atm. Thanks for the tip.
When I change the power setting to Economy, I lose 4G.
I am eager to try this, but I gotta have my 4G. Any suggestions??

You can bump charge the normal battery as well.
So what exactly do the power modes do? Are they just presets for certain settings? or do they control CPU scaling or anything else? I've always just left mine on normal with auto sleep enabled
Edit: I also wonder what affect the "auto start task manager on startup" option does exactly, and if having that on improves battery life, or if it is referring to the task manager in the notification bar quick settings

I used that app for quite sometime on my Incredible when I ran a sense rom (cm7 allowed me to set the buttons leds off on its own).
Fyi though, when screen filter is active, I am unable to install an app. When you go to install an app, and you are on the screen that shows the permissions with the install button on the lower right, I have been unable to click the install button with screen filter running. I just run screen filter again to deactivate it and the install goes fine, then I just run screen filter again to get it running again.
It's a hassle, but a small price to pay to get those led's off if you dont want / need them.

I am curious about this as well... I know the kernel supports multiple governors for CPU scaling.
I am also not sure what the task manager is that it refers to. It might just start the app in the background.

Tap the graph and it shows a bar that shows signal strength over time. That would help to figure it out.
I just use the extended battery and have everything set to high performance and can easily get though the day. Good tips though.

I have read a lot of threads regarding battery life.. But I really don't care having 2 days with 3 or 4 hrs of screen time.
My deep sleep is actually very good 96%-97% in 8 hours... But I want to know what to do to minimize the battery USING the phone while browsing.. Screen brightness I always have it a lowest possible.. Also have it UV a bit, using LiLRom 1.5.1 with entropy 3/5 right now is dropping like 1% in 3-4min... Is there anything else I can do to increase the time for lets say around 6-8min ? I guess 10min/1% will be impossible..
80% of the power usage is due to the screen. That's the price we pay for amoled.
Disabling "Use Wireless Networks" under Location and Security in Settings helps.
That will stop the apps that you are using from unnecessarily polling your location. For example, I've seen Facebook turn on GPS every time I access it even when all I am doing is checking my Wall. Turning off above mentioned option prevents this.

Yeah I have read your thread and is a very nice one but the problem on that thread is that it became some sort of competition of which combo rom/kernel have the better battery for a period of days.. And not squezing the most of screen ON but using the phone. I did some test a few months ago, and if only the screen is ON but without touching the phone it will get nice times. But once you start touching the phone is when the power consumption is bumped.
But will be nice to see a guide with some values to mess with freq,mv,etc.. to get a balanced consumption between usage and performance..

I am trying to crowd-source what people do to get good battery over here in an xda thread. If you add your settings to that form (after jumping to that post), it may help telling you and others as to what settings help towards and against good battery life.
Does anyone know any current news about this function and battery consumption? Really it consumes more battery? I believe it was something to consume more battery, Sony would report this to enable the option!
It seems negligible. The phone still goes into deep sleep.
hi.im check .do not exceed battery consumption
I don't think this feature consumes a lot of energy. It's a great feature for me, btw. So why disable it? I'd rather use my phone 10 mins less than not using this feature.
Thanks guys for the reply!
I believe if consuming battery, Sony put a warning when activating this option!

hi dear. i disable all other app and check at 2 period. first with 2 tap enable and then without 2 tap.
There was no significant change
Well I think it just keeps your digitizer on and uses a negligible amount of power ..but correct me if I am wrong !
In a device from Nokia that I can not remember the model has the same function and activate it the user is informed that this option will consume more battery than normal!
Simple! If you want to use such tech then enable it and take risk (if there's any like battery consumption and such), and if not, DISABLE it, cased closed.
I don't notice any further battery consumption using this feature. 3-4h with 1% battery consumption is really good.
Take it easy, pals! Why are you so serious about battery consumption? Be happy and use it.

Been having battery issues the past couple days. Looks like my phone isn't dozing compared to before the issue, the battery graph would stay a flat line and barely discharge over night. I screenshot last night's discharge, went to bed with approx 95%and woke up around 70.
Sorry if this has been discussed somewhere, I searched but could not find. Recently switched back to Android, hope I don't regret it lol. I'm not rooted or on any custom ROM
If anyone has suggestions I'd greatly appreciate it
My two cents: try checking what app or service is consuming the battery under settings>battery and try to close it. In my experience, Android, even with the Doze feature, doesn't stand up to apple's standy consumption and app freeze.
From the screenshots it is a wakelock from android OS and this is actually a bug with stock rom in g5. Ive had this wakelock number of times on my H830 and this happens randomly after charging your battery to 100 percent. The only solution to this is to keep an eye on the battery section for 20 to 30 minutes after charging your phone and if there is the long wake time for android OS then reboot phone.
Rebooting the phone gets rid of the wakelock until it randomly occurs
On the sidenote for my tmobile Lg g5 a few things causes this wakelock
Manually turning on the lollipop battery saver
Restricting background data on the data section
Mostly after charging my phone
Hope i helped and just test out which action actually causes the wakelock and avoid it until there is a fix for non rooted phone/reboot phone more often
Thanks for the tips. I just did a clean wipe so I'll what happens. The wake lock issue is definitely not something I can live with though. Only way around it right now would be a custom ROM? Was hoping to avoid messing with all that this time around

No matter how many forums and threads there is no solution to be found for this massive battery drainage. stock rom vs poison with greenify, underclock, tweaks, lower brightness, other mods, and the battery is exactly THE SAME in both. Hi guys. Sorry for slow reply. I have tried going back to stock rom and other different roms. No difference. You see the weird part is that the battery lasts the same no matter what you do, stamina mode? same. Nothing running on background ? same. New thing happened: After the poison 7 rom in battery settings ann option "battery care" appeared. I turned it on to see what it does. Only after some weeks it decided to pop up when I plugged my phone to charge. It said something like "Battery Care active. Your phone will be fully charged in 5 p.m Tuesday (example) while it is still Monday 3 p.m. Should I listen to battery care and leave the phone plugged in for 1 day or not? (no matter if it reaches 100%).
This is a bit irrelevant but I am asking just in case: Is your phone too charging very fast ? I have the basic charger (not the fast charge) and I believe my phone is being charged a bit too fast

Me too i have the normal charger included in the box and it takes about 2 hours from 20ish to 90ish % if i plug it to a usb 3.0 port it takes about 1:30hr to charge from about the same
Battery Care is a nice app if you charge your phone overnight. It limits the duration of your battery charged to 100% by charging rapidly to 90% until a half hour or so before you wake up. To do so it needs to learn your charging habits first. Supposedly this prolongs your battery life. Attached an example. You can see it charges rapidly as well.

I agree it is unrelated. Since your battery problem seems independent on the rom, a few options are left: a rogue app that you always install, something related to your Google account, or a hardware problem.

Is it worth it to try going back to stock again and also unrooting? Or relocking the bootloader? I thought of an app but the only thing that it could really be are the google services , the play store. Messenger doesnt seem to drain much and makes a minimal difference, and with the app we mentioned above I didn't find absolutely anything draining the battery apart from screen and OS (it could also be more than normal)
I did all the trip concept-stock-concept and it seems it is an app right now I'm getting almost the day through and have 20ish of battery, it was easier in my case because I didn't unlocked bootloader or rooted, so might try a full clean reinstall to your phone

I'm currently also having massive battery drain(6% an hour) I tried stock rom, Posion rom and concept rom, sadly all with the same result. I use grenify & fordoze but somehow my phone wont 'doze'/go into deep sleep. I installed better battery stats to check out the problem. On a normal day(one charge) the sumery of better batter stats look like this:
deep sleep 7 hours / awake(screen off) 5.5 hours / screen on 1.5 hours
when i look to kernel wakelocks there is one that is always on top of the list:
bluesleep 5.2 hours 243 wakelocks
Also under alarms there is a suspect:
com.google.android.gms: 864 alarms 1/min
So there are some strange things happening on my phone... really wondering if you got the same wakelocks/alarms as I do
I use greenify and HEBF. Same story here, it seems like nothing changes with battery life. Crazy, only 1,5 hours? My average now is 3. I haven't checked the drainage when screen is off but I did notice similar drains to yours. I think we're in the same boat. I will tell you about the wakelocks, haven't looked into that yet

Also under alarms there is a suspect:
com.google.android.gms: 864 alarms 1/min
So there are some strange things happening on my phone... really wondering if you got the same wakelocks/alarms as I do

I've just received my phone for just one day. Backup my TA partition, unlock bootloader and use rootkernel tool to root my devices. I'm using the .331 version stock ROM. Just then I installed the ElementalX app on play store, and surprisingly found that the cpu frequency statistics show that the phone is always on the max freq. So I changed the cpu governor to interactive governor. Haven't test battery time yet. Hope you know this issue, if you have the same problem.

I'm wondering if you've check the cpu freq statistics. See my post above. If that's the common issue, than the stock rom maybe has trouble dealing with the cpu governor problem.

Actually I'm not lowering frequencies, I use EX Kernel Manager to tune the interactive governor according to this post
https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/general/guide-advanced-interactive-governor-t3269557
After tuning the governor, it's about 4 hours SOT. Still not good compare to my Xperia Z3, but much better than before(about 2hr SOT)

Well it's not perfect yet but switching off scanning for bluetooth and wifi helped me a lot(under location settings) Also L Speed & Greenify are helping.
Still looking for a way to turn off fast dormancy.
