My HD2 T-mobile use radio 2.15.50.14
Should I need to up radio before up Energy ROM? Is it the radio best for SD android?
Thanks very much!

I know this is older, but for anyone searching this same subject, I figured I'd offer some info. I don't think this question can be answered as asked. There is no such thing as a "best" rom. In addition, as I understand it, the choice of Droid rom/kernel, and when that is started, is going to have more to do with battery use than the choice of WM rom. That said, I can tell you what I use. I run Core Cell Evo (6.5.5 base) V4.1 which includes a dual boot option built in. This is a Sense rom. With it I run a Droid SD rom from the same developers, Core Droid V0.8. I do have an HTC extended battery so I did need to update the Droid kernel to Hastarin v8.5.3 EB (with Extended battery support). If you can't find the kernel updater zip file, let me know and I'll send it to you. I also updated the WM rom to CHT and CHTE to v2.0 final (as opposed to the V2.0 beta that comes with the rom), along with updating CleanRam to V2.5 - as outlined here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16850333&postcount=1512 This combo as modified has worked well for me. Battery usage is not great, but not bad by any means. Keeping services shut down unless needed is probably the most important thing you can do. If I am running wifi and bluetooth all day, battery life is much worse. if you don't need data, shut it off, ditto wifi, GPS, and bluetooth. if you are not going to run WM other than as a boot shell, try this WM rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=776971 My one issue with an SD Droid rom is that you need to be careful about accidentally corrupting the SD card. I had to soft reset once while in Droid and after I did that my SD card was corrupted and Droid would not boot properly. Also several WM apps located on the SD card would not run either. I had to do a complete reinstall of both WM and Droid. This makes sense to me as the Droid OS is running on the SD card so it is reading and writing to it a lot more often. Anything that would interrupt while the card is being written to, could result in problems. So if you do run an SD Droid, be careful about shutdowns and card removal (virtual or real). I always use a full power off now when I want to reboot, never a reboot. I never soft reset unless I absolutely have to, and I never take the SD card out without powering down first, or disconnect the USB from the computer without "ejecting" the Card from the computer first (safe removal option works too). I run the stock TMOUS radio 2.15.50.14 I am very happy with this setup. I generally run bluetooth 3-4 hours a day (listening to my tunes) and the wifi all day (updating various things on a regular schedule such as email, weather, etc.) I do not use a wireless data service ever, and I only use the phone when I am away from home (we do not have cell service at my home). But my wifi use more than makes up for the lack of phone and data services. I also use GPS 5-6 times a day. My phone is seldom in full sleep mode during the day, it is always doing something. The HTC extended battery is a big help. The generic 3500mAh battery was not. It did not even require extended battery support from the kernel. It gave me an extra hour or two, max.

PLEASE LET US KNOW HOW IS IT.
if it solve the memory leakage problem .
And if the battery doesn't drain so fast.
Eh...what memory leakage? I have been using the previous WM6 ROM for several months, and the few times I have to do a soft reset (maybe once a week, max twice) it's because the WiFi isn't working after a sync.
More longer you use it, the memory leakage will be solve alittle by alittle.
For more than 1 month without hardreset, i able to get 27mb free RAM after reboot and the 2G MiniSD still inside.
Megaupload is very annoying. I've uploaded the ROM to http://rapidshare.com/files/59257870/Xda_Atom_Life_WM6_WWE_RC2140907B2.exe.html

Well, memory leak is a real problem. If you use ActiveSync, MMS, Windows Live, then you would be haunted by the memory leak.
Anyway, this version solves some problem,
1) Windows Live feature does not try to connect to GPRS/3G anymore if you are connected to the internet via WiFi.
2) Esmertec Java is replaced by JBlend. Welcome 3D to Java world!
3) O2 Connect service is improved... a little. Never use it though... the downside is, you can't remove it, but you can disable the service.
Allso...
after update the Rom i see a that the Radio change:
OLD : AL1-KLNC-2.3.40T-070601-2
NEW: AL1_KLNC2340_070905_RS001
don't know if mean somthing.
one more thing.
The Camera is now Fixed, the zoom is working, and it's much faster.
It also looks like that the memory leakage problem is less annoying
last night after the Rom updae I had 21.72 MB now after 8 hours I have 21.70 MB.
I hope that the problem has gone away.

Is there any hang when updating ROM? I read some many threads from other forums, sometimes Atom Life hangs when up ROM. If no, I will update ROM then. If yes, please let me know how to avoid it.
Any comments are highly appreciate.
Thanks in advanced.
I have had no hanging problem. Thankyou.
But, I am facing two problems :
a) Phone restarts w/o reason many times (This problem existed earlier aswell, b4 ROM upgrade)
b) When I use Wi-Fi, and after display goes into stand-by mode (after non-usage for a while), the phone display doesnot come back. (NEW PROBLEM, after ROM upgrade). The only option I have is to soft reset.
Phone resets are usually not software, but hardware related. Often bad battery connections.
The reason why I don't have a memory leak is probably that I don't use any of the Windows Live stuff. That's for kids, and I'm past 40...
But I have a problem with this ROM: The phone doesn't charge when it's connected to my computer with the Active Sync cable. It used to charge, only very slowly. Now the battery slowly drains instead! Does anybody else see this?
About the memory leak, if you didn't run any applications like MMS application, Windows Live, ActiveSync, then you are safe. Anyway, if you soft reset the device and doesn't use it to run any applications for 8 hours, you won't get a memory leak. You need to use the device to run applications to see it. But some are not memory leak. It is the way Windows work. Some code (shared modules) are not released after used because it is hoped that the next applications the user open will be using the same shared modules. The phone application (cprog.exe) also consume quite a lot of memory if you have a lot of contacts. After using it to dial and receive calls, you'll notice that it will be consuming more and more memory. So, on average, you will get around 10mb of free main memory.
Regarding device restarting itself, I only get this when I was using WM5 rom. Actually it doesn't restart itself, it shutdown itself (turned off completely). After using three WM6 rom releases, I haven't have this issue. So, it might have been hardware related (like battery). It might also be 3rd party application like PhoneAlarm. For PhoneAlarm, the device might soft reset after receiving SMS.
Regarding device freezing, I'm not having this problem also. If I do, I know that it is caused by any 3rd party applications I've installed. To investigate this part, you'll need to hard reset and force yourself to try using the device for about a week to see if it still freezes. If it does, bring it back to O2 for warranty claim.
Regarding the latest ROM update, I noticed that the camera DID start faster but the video recording is way too slow. During video recording, the frame rate on the screen is very very very very slow. For the photo shot, the shooting is quite quick but the saving part (save to main memory) is slower compared to previous rom.
I get what you mean about the memory leak. I only use NetRemote (which closes itself completely and doesn't leave anything), Pocket IE (which I up to now have closed with PocketPlus, but I have dumped PP because it gave me a few phone problems every now and then), the phone part and contacts and calendar. But I do active sync, and I haven't seen any problems there.
Well, I have faced 2 problems with this WM6 ROM:
1/ The battery life is no longer than the WM5 it maybe drains the battery more quickly. The old one I used for 2 days in normal condition (call, listen music, radio and a little bit Wifi) while new one with the same condition I only used it for more than 15 hours.
2/ When using wifi more than 30 minutes continuously, the battery become so hot (hotter than the WM5 version).
Does anybody face these problems above? If you know how to overcome them please share me.
Any comment is highly appreciate.
hello guys... I have a question..

You get 15 hours? With my normal use (without bluetooth on), getting 12 hours is considered lucky for me. With bluetooth on, 8 hours and it is dead.
Same goes with WM5.

Flashing radio (scary stuff)

Okay, I haven't used my Hermes as a phone (since it's near to impossible to get a SIM-card in Japan), but now I got one and I noticed the battery drain really quickly. I can't even have it one for one day, but I used to have it on for two days before I had to recharge, and then I had beam and bluetooth running. So I need a new radio.
The question I have is, I have CRC's latest stable, flashed on a Swedish device. Can I flash any radio? (That's listed in the wiki) I've flashed ROM's and I figure the procedure is pretty much the same, but I can't find if I can use any radio? My operator i SoftBank if that's any help. Will this affect SoftBanks special text-service? (Mails instead of SMS, a real pain to get it working)
While we're at it, anyone got a recommendation for Tokyo? What I have now is 1.07.01.10.
Thanks for you patience! Please don't kill me, I just don't want to do something bad.
If you have HardSPL installed, flashing Radio ROMs is pretty safe, provided you do that from an SD card and not via a USB cable. Just avoid 1.54.x radios as they're known to be dangerous to the radio hardware. It's also a good idea to read the corresponding thread before flashing the radio ROM - people frequently provide their feedback as for stability, reception quality and power consumption.
P.S. They say 1.47.30.00 is quite good power consumption-wise.
Man, more 1.54.xx.xx bashing... I don't know why its said that 1.54.xx.xx is dangerous, I've been using here in Australia for as long as its been available. Never had a problem with the radio... I have 2 Hermes and they are both running 1.54.30.10.
Maybe it has a problem if the provider doesn't support it...
Anyway, if you know anyone in Japan with a Hermes, see what radio they're running... Unless one of our members knows what radio it is they use over there...
Cheers...
Thanks for your replies!
I tried the 1.47.30.00 and it's just as power hungry as the one I used before. Battery is now down at 43 % after 5 hours (completely charged in the beginning) and I haven't even really used it. I have to use 3G since GSM doesn't exist in Japan, which of course is a battery drainer, but come on... This won't last a day! Could be the battery since it's a fairly old phone (a year or two, not sure), but without the phone on it lasted easily two days with music running around 5 hours per day and some other daily use (looking up in dictionary, taking notes, etc).
Unfortunately as you said, 3G is a power eater... You might think about getting an extended life battery, 1500Mah or possibly a 3000Mah battery. Just remember though that the larger the battery the bigger the size and the heavier your Hermes gets...
Cheers...
Once again, thanks for your reply!
But is this drastical drop off battery time normal? I mean, it has more than halfed! The other normal phones I've had, worked atleast week one a full charge, using 3G, and the last one had a 880 Mah battery.
It's probably more convenient for me to carry an extra phone than using a bigger battery, cheaper and easier to find. >.<
I found an enabled data-connection setting in the Comm Manager that hadn't been disabled before. After a few hours of testing it would seem that the batterylife has greatly improved, but haven't done any real testing yet. Strange thing is, if I disable this Data Connection and leave the Comm Manager open, it will enable itself. But if I quit fast enough it's disable.
But what is it? I'm using a prepaid phone with no possiblities to access an internet connection with 3G, 3G is phone only. (And SoftBanks very strange text service)

[Q] Help Needed with Radio Update

Hi all,
I am sorry if this has been already asked.. I searched the forum but couldn't find what I was looking for.. I am using SD build of American android (CM7.1 based). I dual boot it with WM6.5.. I am on HardSPL 2.08 and radio updated to 2.15.50.14, before installing American Android. My battery drain is not less than 60mA in standby (99% of time) and what I have learned through this forum, It might be due to the current radio version. I intend to downgrade my radio to 2.12.50.02_2, hoping to resolve inappropriate battery issue. My question is.. Is it safe to just flash 2.12.50.02_2 radio without doing any harm to my hd2? BTW, mine is the European version T8585. Thanks in anticipation.
I've only gone up in radio builds not down but I can't imagine it would mess anything up to downgrade. I doubt however that the radio rev is causing the drain issue, it might be but I'm on 2.12 and have similar problems. The number one factor for me is the SD card. With the stock Sandisk HD2 16gb card, all is goodness, I even purchased an identical card so I could easily swap out builds but when I use anything other than the stock card I have massive battery drain issues. So much so that the phone gets physically hot and I'll go from full charge to almost dead in the span of a couple of hours. I've also noticed recently that when I try out a new build for the first couple of hours I get big drain, I'm guessing because the phone is syncing and updating but it's more noticeable now than before.
If you haven't done so try out the MIUI builds, they are incredible.
It's not your radio it's the ROM,
you can safely downgrade to that radio with no problems.
With Android, you don't want any radio below 2.10.50 because then you get problems in the ROMs, you can safely flash any of those (2.10.50 and above) on your phone.
Thanks!!!
Thanks both of you for the prompt reply. I just fully discharged my hd2 and recharged to 100% through AC outlet (not USB). After getting to Android the current widget log shows 7mA on standby.. earlier it was not less than 60mA. So I guess I have to wait and see.. There's no hurry! Thanks again both of you for being so helpful!
no worries man, glad you got it back to 7.

HTC HD2 general battery consumption issues

I have an almost new HTC HD2. I am testing various ROMs and radios to find the reason for why is my HD2 going through battery so quick.
At this point I am with HD2O v18 ROM and 2.15.50 radio. This is the best combo for me so far in terms of battery use. Even so, my phone, with everything but 2G turned of, I'm getting 38-39mA. With turned on screen with brightness on auto, and everything else turned of except 2G, I'm getting 100-130mA. This all seems to much to me.
I also sometimes boot AmeriCanAndroid from SD card, and there it's even worse. 60mA on standby and 120-140 on everything off but auto screen brightness.
Any ideas?
What kind of battery consumption are you getting?
i had problem like this when i used wm6.5 but then i flashed Nexus rom on nand and the bettery is good as stand by i leave it for 3 days without charging or some thing like that and every thing is fine ... give it a shoot http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905060
Thank you for your time and advice. I'll keep it in mind. But for now, I'd like to stick to WM, and solve the drain problem. Android doesn't suite me.
you welcome man,
hahaha i thought android wouldn't suite me too in the first because im wm freak, but then i found android really good .... if only microsoft didn't stop supporting it
I'm coming from Android on SE x10 which I have been using for four months. And when I say it doesn't suit me, I'm being very mild.
Anywayz, it's better to stick to the original subject. Another thing just came to my mind. Could an old SIM cause battery drain issues in standby? I have a first generation SIM dating to 1998 or 1999. SIM from last millenium.
I read somewhere that old SIMs can cause trouble on modern phones...
hahaha i don't know, first time i hear about the SIM and battery thing ... anyway good luck man solving the problem ... and when it solved let me know what was the reason
Just like I thought, the 12 years old SIM was a problem. Today I got the new SIM, and voila; 4mA on standby, I'm really surprised that nobody thought of this earlier. Not even HTC customer service.
So advice for everyone out there; if your phones have high battery drain on all ROMs/Radios, before anything else, check your SIM. And this applies to all modern phones, not just HD2. I had the same problem with SE X10.
I had the same issue when i used sd card and different android bults even nexu's and I also have a ancient sim.
The drain with the sd was 60mA in standby and more that 200mA with great spikes in normal use.(winmo 6.5 in nand)
Since I made a clean Nand install with NexusGingerbread current in standby is from 4 to 8 mA and in use about 160mA.
So if you ever decide to go in android better have a nand install.
HD2 is a great phone and i think that it is limited with stock os.
it's a common problem, it happens at random when you use WinMo a bit before running android.
use something like exceller's multi build loader, and set it to auto launch at the desired time (even 10-15 seconds work) and this problem should go away.
I also noticed that my battery consumption goes high on some build when using these apps:
setCPU (I know, strange!)
circle launcher
perfect viewer (sometimes, and only when it's running in the background, an app killer solves this)
I can't think of any other app. so if the above methd doesn't work, try to uninstall these apps if you have them one by one, reboot (turn off then on) after each uninstallation and try the phone for a few hours.
Normally, standby consumption shouldn't be higher than 15 mA/h and most of the time it should be lower than 10.

[Q] Amaze as a media/music device?

Recently found my old Amaze . Unlocked bootloader again and rooted as it was already S-OFF it it makes a difference. Wanting to turn it into a music/wifi only device.
Has anyone else done this and maintained decent battery life?
Haven't been on this sub for a good while, but do recognize some of the development still going on for this device. Trying to find a stable ROM that is small in size with not a lot of extra bloat that has good battery life to use the Amaze for music/wifi.
Any suggestions or experience with? Or any configuration ideas welcome.
Thanks

I say install any rom you like then install poweramp your good to go
what i mean by this ?
1st ... ICS roms are very stable great battery life also
2nd ... ICS roms can use wifi to make wifi calling if your into that
3rd ... Or download the newest rom and see how that works
4th .... Trade in you amaze for a ipad touch
After tinkering with phone for almost two weeks(not constantly), I keep running into the same problem on different ROMs. Phone Radio and/or any other phone service related program/app keeps draining the battery rather quickly. Even if i have Airplane mode on or have everything turned off(including WiFi) and let it just idle, it still is the top apps/services eating away at the battery.
I have even tried freezing/uninstalling all phone related apps, but with no prevail. Also Used the *#*#4636#*#* to go into the phone settings and turn radio off, it still will be at the top of the list on using the most battery. I have most Google account syncs turned off and even have disabled location.
Is there something I am missing or?
