i've just bought htc tattoo for my wife.and surprisingly there's no android app market..i did search and found com.android.vending.apk and try to install it through htc sync.installation was successful but sadly i cant download any applications..i stuck at starting download and nothing happens.is this the right vending.apk or can someone post to me vending.apk from our original tattoo?please.or i need to root my tattoo?but my phone is already unlock...and i also cant find facebook.apk for our tattoo...please help.
if android market doesnt come on the phone, the best way fix the issue is to flash an official rom from htc. rooting should allow you to install the market properly.
remember the official tattoo maket does not allow access to all apps, even thougn 95% of apps work flawlessly on the tattoo. i would highly reccomend the modified market posted on this forum. -I believe it should be possible to root and install this with without flashing your phone.
@havok123:
thanks for the reply..
mine is orginal htc ROM.dont you think so?i didnt flash any custom ROM.yet ive read that in some places htc tattoo doest come with android market, like in my country..
so you suggest that i root my wife's tattoo and install the patched android app market?
is there any other solution without rooting?i just dont want to break the warranty..
thanks for helping.
But what's if you go to warranty service and say, that there isn't any market. They must repair that. But even patched market is better I also think, that warranty service workers doesn't know what the hell is that ROOT, so they repair you phone whenever there is ROOT or isn't. But still there is a way to unROOT your phone, so it should regain warranty. Or maybe I wrong...

if you have just rooted your mobile you can allways make a hard reset
and get back to normal.
If you have just flashed a custom rom to your tattoo then you must
flash again official rom this time so you can get back to normal.

p/s: sorry for newbie questions as im not too familiar with android OS..been using winmo phone so long.
HI,
I used the search but could not find anything about this topic also I'm pretty sure there has to be someone who posted about this before.
I have some battery issue with my gen 8 101 and want to send it in for warranty. I'm pretty sure this has nothing to do with urukDroid which I'm using since I got the tablet a year ago. Anyway... I want to ask if there is a How-To for undoing all changes so Archos doesn't claim the warranty to be voided. I'm not sure if there is a way Archos might not recognise that I rooted and installed custom ROM but I'm pretty sure that this would be easier than to argue with them about if the custom ROM destroyed my battery or not...
thx 4 your help
Using:
UrukDroid 1.6 (installed on internal memory)
rooted with SDE from Archos + EasyInstall 1.5 from UrukDroid
http://code.google.com/p/urukdroid/wiki/Installation
If you installed the SDE your device is watermarked and you can't remove that.
But there are no known incidents where Archos has claimed that.
Thanks!
1. Since the Watermark is only in the software I think it shold be possible to remove it. It's not like the HTC unlocker where you have to give them your phones hardware id
2. As it is most likely to be very hard to remove the watermark I'll try and just flash stock ROM. I hope you're right and I won't be the first 'incident'.
No, it's not in software, they write it to an internal hardware component.
I'm pretty sure was long as you didn't brick it with SDE, Archos will accept it. I know someone here got the digitizer replaced and they used SDE.
Installing the SDE modifies something in the bootloader and the DRM keys are wiped (they probably do this to avoid key extraction and cloning via custom FW).
But, like they said, no one with a hardware issue came back telling they got their warranty service denied due to SDE installation.
Probably more a Cover Y A thing to avoid warranty replacement of bricked units.
There are no DRM Keys in the Gen8.
You might be talking aout Gen7
Thx again. But I now just have to ask: Do you recommend to wipe and install stock Rom? Or is it okay if I just leave UrukDroid installed? I can't find my Nandroid backup at the moment so it basically I wanted to:
1.enter recovery mode.
2.Try to follow this path and reformat my device.
3. Then do a fresh install of the firmware.
Is this the right way?
Sorry to ask those lame questions but I don't have much time at the moment for trying
As there is no nandroid, you can't have a backup, so yes that's the way to go.
Alright Archos send me a Mail today that they replace it and a new 101 G8 is on the way to me.

Hi, I have problems to regiister on my carriers network. My Z Ultra can see all available networks but refuses to connect toany of them. I tried several different ROMS without success. I also took out the SIMcard and put it into an old phone (no smartphone) and with that it connected instamntly. My carrier told me to wait but I´m reaklly fed up with waiting. Does anbybody have a clue what might be the issue here?

I scarefully start to grasp that this might be an IMEI issue of which i have no clues or experience. I+m fammiliar with adb and rooting though. What is your advice?

Open the dialer and enter *#06#. A new window with a bunch of numbers should pop up. If it says "0" or "0000", your IMEI is gone, and we'll take it from there.
Note: Do not post your IMEI here.

I see, so i'm assuming that you've been on 290 and then downgraded to 257 or 532? If yes, that's why you've lost your IMEI. You can easily fix this by updating to 290 again, or flash NUT's 532 version in Flashtool.

NUTS 532 sounds interesting. Does it have support for init.d and so on?
Can i flash cwm to boot after? My aim is to become on latest stock but rooted. Why? Is because i purchased a sony original miracast device and i would like that to work...
Suggest?

Yup, it supports init.d.
It has dual-recovery installed as default, so you can either flash that one and stay fully rooted on 532 (with IMEI), or you can jump straight to 290, but then you'll have to flash it in Flashtool (so you get the latest baseband), and you'll have to root it yourself and install recovery.

I don't use Miracast, but i can't see why it shouldn't work? Does it require a special feature on Android 4.3?
Miracast
There has been several issues on miracast. Many people seeem to have failed to get it working. Maybe Sony has fixed that in Kitkat i dont knowe. But thge 532 is jellybean right?

The NUT 532 ROM is a Recovery file, so just flash it in recovery like you usually do, and you should in theory get your IMEI back. If not, flash a stock 290 FTF in Flashtool.
I have Miracast working on .136
It never worked on prior firmware - don't know if that was the tv's fault or the phone.
Sitting duck again
I tried flashing the NUT 532 and all seemed ok until i power the device up. I get thousands of force close to the system ui. Practically rendered my ZU useless. Does anybody recognize this issue? I tried a factory reset as my hands had to dance in order to reset it. Right now i dont know what fw oi am on but as i said the phone is uselesss.

Did you do a full wipe after flashing? If not, you should've done that. Also, no reason to panic. I understand why you might be, and i've been in much worse situations than this a couple of times, but it's nothing we can't solve. It takes some effort to hard brick a Sony. It just depends on how far you're willing to go to get it up and running. The easiest way would be to just flash 290 in Flashtool and be done with it. That way you'll have a fully funtional phone again with IMEI, and you can do the rooting later on when you have a system that's actually functioning correctly. Get your stress levels down again and root and what not when you have full control over your phone again
I'm in Norway btw, so since we're in the same time zone, i can help you out tomorrow after school/work if you need it.

What I would do is do a flash of the FTF in my guide on downgrading the ZU/recoverinf the IMEI (parse be to [NUT]) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2593918
That should give you a clean stock sony .532 firmware ready to root. To root use Bin4ry's tool linked in LordManhatton's guide, then run through the steps in [NUT]'s .290 locked BL ROM thread and the his .136 locked BL thread. This has to be done in order if you are keeping a locked BL all the way through.
THNX
I am very thankful, for your guide and assistance. I am back on stock 532. Is it possible to flash another kernel/boot since this 532 sems to be without root and reovery. All tother things are back though. I cant find te thanks button. Where is that here on xda..?
Could i jjust write fastboot flash boot and then the actual boot.img? So that i can root it...
Hello all,
Is there a stock ROM available for the MT2L03 without requiring a new Recovery?
I bought the one from Consumer Cellular and wanted to replace it with the ROM from the version bought directly with Huawei.
Is it possible?
Thanks!

Do you want to flash a new ROM altogether ? I, too, have the same phone from Consumer Cellular and have replaced the ugly boot screens. In any case, check this thread [https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B7lyht1oiGRRNEl4dlJhdVhnQ00&usp=sharing]. Various versions of the stock firmware are there. The one that ends with 148 is the latest.
Let us know the results.
Thanks! A few doubts: have you replaced your ROM with this b148? Or just the boot screens? If you replaced the ROM, did you have to use a special recovery or just used the Update via Local File under Settings?

No, I did not flash any ROM. I was just irritated by the various boot screens. As I was able to replace them, I didn't feel it necessary to flash the stock ROM and I didn't think the changes in v. 148 merited all the additional time it would have taken to flash.
Anyway, if you have flashed, let us know the results.
Those stock firmwares don't seem to work on my consumer celluar version.
I used mtyler7807's TWRP backup and replaced the logos and stuff.

Did you get the hotspot option? Because Consumer Cellular removed it.
All I wanted is to replace the whole thing with the original/standard ROM.

I couldn't flash. It says: oemsbl version list check error
I tried the B148 and B126.
It is suppose to get hotspot back but I am not sure as I never use that.

I wouldn't say it is completely "stock", as it is not, and probably require some tinkering to get future update if I understand it correctly. Though the consumer celluar thing are gone indeed, except the folder in root.
I only did limited test as the phone is intend for my parents buy they refuse to use a phone w/o case (and the case ship from china...), voice call is fine(after unlock code from ebay), wifi is fine.
I too hope in the future there would be a way to wipe it completely and put stock firmware on it.

So, if:
1. Consumer Cellular is not completely gone
2. Updating the phone in the future will not as straightforward as for those with original stock roms
3. Some apps don't function as properly as they should (like the camera shooting at lower resolutions)
Whats, then, the point of flashing the rom. The only reason I want to flash is to be able to easily install updates as Huawei releases them and flashing the rom by mtyler7807 doesn't seem to alleviate that problem. But you flashed mtyler7807's rom. Why did you do that ? Surely, you there's an advantage somewhere that I missed that's not called getting hotspot ?

I needed chinese, and consumer cellular version do not have that. So I needed to root, if I needed to root I may as well get the updates from stock (148 i think?). The consumer cellular rom is build 132 or 136 something. I would't had touch it one bit if it had chinese by default.

I've managed to partly repair my phone as previously isle was crashing and booting a lot but now I've managed to sort of fix it I hit a new problem.
When I load my camera it says it's in use so I tried a third party app and it crashed my phone again so I'm thinking there is a hardware issue with the camera causing this. My question is, is there any way that this can be fixed ? I'm not 100 percent this is the root of my problems bt it's a start
Help is really apriciated
Did you relock your bootloader? If so, your camera will be working again after unlocking or after restoring your TA partition.
Yes I re locked it could this be the problem ?

Yes! I am not sure, but possibly a factory reset will also solve your issue. Maybe someone else can confirm? Else unlocking will. I guess you didn't backup your TA partition?

True, you cannot get it back.
What if I was to root a custom rom onto the phone ? Would I then have them back ?
You mean your camera? Yes, but you'd need to unlock first to install a costum rom. You won't get your drm keys back though. Most custom roms have some drm fix that restore the quality of the pictures you take with your cam.
Bugger I take it the phone is buggered then and there's no possible way at all to get the drm keys back either ?
Correct, but with the drm fix you wouldn't notice the difference (at least I didn't).
OK have you any pointers on how to do a drm fix ? For the xperia x ?
Check this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-x/development/kernel-drm-fix-nougat-t3530849 , scroll to the last page
flashed a kernel fix off here and now got the message "your device has failed verification and will not work properly" the shuts off im back to square one with this now
But did you unlock first? If you modify your kernel on a locked bootloader your device cannot boot. What happens if you flash your original kernel and reboot?
All sorted that now ! It wouldn't boot the kernel without me.unlocking ? Any decent tutorials about ?
