In case anyone did not notice, our stock file manager has just been updated and now we are able to send files directly from the stock file manager using Bluetooth to any device , laptop or mobile.
Now there is no need to go to ThinkOffice Free's file manager and send files or download a custom "Bluetooth File Transfer" like app. You should be able to send it through the OI file manager itself in the latest version ( v 1.16 )
That's one of the probably biggest hindrances of stock ROMs that has been solved
WOW, that's great. Thanks for the info ! I was really annoyed when i had to send files via Thinkfree.
Thanks a lot!

I have Root Explorer installed on my phone, but I get file not supported on this device error messages when I try to download zip files. Any idea why I can't do this with this files manager but I can with other file managers?

Maybe its not a supported feature? Astro and Linda have the ability. .. or maybe there is an option to enable it?

It has the ability to create and extract zip files, but I didn't know if it was a matter of having to create an extension or whatever to allow the phone to download zip files. I am using AndroZip until then.
Is it possible to download files like zip and rar from the sgs2 because everytime i try it just fails thanks

With Dolphin-HD I can download Zip files and others, but not all.
Install an app that opens Zip and Rar files, then you should be able to download them. Like a filebrowser.
i was able with firefox.
with the original internet app i couldn't.

Thanks fyi, gonna try it.
"Download all files" (get it @market) should do the trick, still haven't tried it though!
I'm using Download All Files and it's working flawlessly.
i installed the 2.3 firmware but it is having no built in file manager, i am not having internet services in my mobile right now, how do i install any file in it??
Search in the marketplace for Astro File Manager or any file manager. I use Root Explorer for my needs but any of those file managers should work.
Edit: Oops, didn't read that part about no internet service. You might be out of luck if that's the case. Connect to wifi?
If you have internet access at all like a computer. Just download the apk and you can use flashtool to insall it.

..JusT Try 2 Help..
How come your GB 2.3 installed w/o File Explorer or Application Installer..
But..calm down..many Way to Rome DuDe..as long as you have..
1. SD Card = Flashdisk..use it to transfer apk file from PC (Public Internet Service PC) to your SDCard..then Install It..
2. You have Friends with Android Phone don't you..? Transfer the apk file via "Bluetooth" then Install It..
3. Yessss..Find a Public HoTSpoT..then Go OnLine..
4. Go to Sony Ericsson Service Center to Help you Install the File Manager apk..
You said you don't have "Internet Connection"..but why you can post the thread..
OK..the Internet Connection from a PC..and you have No "Data Cable" or a Card Reader to Connect to your PC..
Use flashtool to root it, then install any apps what you need from it, i recommend you to install file manager first.

Hi
How do you change the file manager?
I'm using MiniCM7Prolite V21 which comes with File Manager by Rhythem Software. I prefer ASTRO file manager and want to have that intergrated. Hate having 2 apps doing the same thing.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

You can use Root Explorer for changing system files. But i suggest that, dont delete original custom rom files.
Install also ASTRO
...but that's how you make a custom
that's what it says here

Hi Frnds,
I want The old youtube app from Eclair version of our phone.
This is because the froyo or the latest version require high speed internet connectivity(which i don't have) and takes really long time to buffer whereas i remember that the old version from eclair was fast(Of course video quality is compromised, but its OK)

it is an .apk file
you need to install root explorer ( you need root access to install this)
Then simply copy this file, navigate to /system/app (on top there should be a button saying mount r/w, press that once) after simply press paste replacing the old one.
an alternative way to install is to just delete the youtube.apk from /system/app using root explorer and installing this youtube .apk file normally like an installation from file manager.
This is where i gave you the link from, its the thread with the stock apps of i5800
