I just received an update for the HTC Flyer.
System upgrade2.00.405.3. Anyone knows what is changed in this update?
Update – HTC Flyer Firmware Over The Air (FOTA) update
Your Tablet will receive a notification of FOTA update when it is made available. Simply press OK to accept the update via a data connection such as Wi-Fi or GPRS/3G. After installing the update, you can confirm a successful update by confirming the Build number (From the Home Screen go to MENU> Settings> About Phone> Software Information> Software number). The new Build number after the update will be 2.00.405.3. Update: Improve system performance. Note:Please back up your data first before upgrading your phone. We recommend using a free Wi-Fi hotspot or an unlimited data plan to apply this update. If not, standard data connection charges may apply. For any questions, please contact us at http://www.htc.com/www/CA_Hotline.aspx
http://www.htc.com/europe/support.aspx
But what is changed?
My software version number is currently 1.36.405.5. This sounds like a big version number bump although I don't have any updates available yet.
Anyone else have any views on this and has anyone installed the update and seen changes?
I just installed but haven't seen any visible changes. The update was about 25 mb large, so I guess it has only done some minor fixes. Maybe the bootloader?
Just checked on my WiFi only Flyer. No update available here in the US. Europe only maybe?
No update available in the UK.

Hi,
received 2.00.405.3 yesterday here as well for a 32GB 3G Flyer in Germany. After working several hours with the device, no visible change found.

Hi,I'm from Singapore......bought mine 3G + WiFi flyer yesterday and on 1.48.707.3 so far no updates available.
I received the update yesterday as well. Nothing visually changed.
No problems updating.
hi. I'm located in UAE. I have 1.36.405.5 version, also no updates here....
I have been updated today the 4th of june I am in the netherlands the version is now 200.405.3 i noticed no changes
There seems to be quite a bit of confusion regarding this.
I just bought my Flyer in the USA and my software version is also 1.36.405.5. No update has been made available to me. I called HTC and they said that this was a UK update only since their original release was very slow and buggy. However, I am confused that the new release (at 2.00.405.3.) is a much higher number.
HTC makes good hardware, but they seem to be a little overwhelmed in how they roll their software updates out. Oh well, I guess it is what it is and my rig will update when it is ready to.
Does is upgrade android to 2.3.4?
I have software version 1.36.1540.32 and I purchased the WiFi only version from best buy on May 30th.

Why give it a day or two and there will be roms using any official version

Where are you guys getting this info from?
Football did post the RUU for HC in his Development thread, but you will lose S-OFF. He says it is the final version. I'm assuming if that's the case, it may be ready for OTA soon...?
I'm assuming that, if Honeycomb is officially released this week, it will be the same version that is in Football's RUU and in globatron's s-off HC. If that's the case, then rather than going with an OTA update or official RUU, I'll stick with the latest version from globatron's s-off method.
What was released is the same version as in my thread.
Hello,
I 've just saw the 3.2 update in my flyer update software. I have s-off revolutionary and I am wondering if I can flash it right in my flyer ? What will be happened ? Will I loose my s-off or sth worst?

Flash his ROM with confidence knowing it is the official OTA. Never take the OTA if you want to stay rooted. Too risky.

Follow the instructions in this thread to have s-off with Honeycomb. Running the OTA or RUU directly are not recommended if you want s-off.:

Thanks both. I will go like globatron!!
Very sad we lose the hardware buttons (even smaller display) and phone call.
In OTA says we lose that buttons too.

Just had this popup on my Facebook HTC Feed about 15 min ago:
Ready for some ‘sweet’ news? The GSM version of the HTC Flyer tablet, available in Europe, is beginning to receive updates to Honeycomb beginning today! Honeycomb brings a ton of improvements to Android on tablets, including the latest version of HTC Sense for Tablet with enhanced Internet browsing, Mail, Calendar and more all optimized for the 7" screen. Not to be outdone, the WiFi version of the HTC Flyer will receive its Honeycomb update soon, too! Stay tuned for more details.

The official OTA for Honeycomb on the WiFi only Flyer (US version) hasn't been released, and HTC has said it won't be until Q1, 2012. Not sure if that applies to other regions as well...

Yes. Wait until next year.
If you don't want to wait for OTA update, globatron has posted a method to s-off, root and upgrade to HC for the Flyer.
European model WIFI RUU for honeycomb: http://www.filefactory.com/file/c03...22U_3822.10.08.07_M_release_227869_signed.exe
I'll be updating the S-OFF method for WIFI models to use this as a base rather than the 3G version.
Anyone already S-OFF can safely run this to have a pure WIFI ROM, probably still UK English only for US people who care.
Ok, thanks for all your help. Happy New year

So my question is "Does HTC not release the update for some area user?" Or HTC just postpones releasing.....
If I did not receive offical update, could I launch other version update like China version or Euro version????

Followed up on your claim that any official dates have been confirmed, they haven't. Most recent information as stated by HTC is target 2nd week of April. That's not a confirmation of any specific date especially since the update is with Verizon right now to get final certification. If you have specific information from a source to say otherwise please post.
Agreeing with xlxcrossing. Everything i see shows the 2nd week of April. if you have diff info please share. otherwise here is where i got my info.

I'm sure resources could have been but at the same time Google said it was a low percentage of devices that even have that version. I'd like to say it was like 1-3% or something that low so it probably wasn't too high on the list to fix. I do think their is a patch they have out though
There's been some subtle info coming through the pipeline but week of 21st (now) is the adjusted time for target release. Hopefully some of you will get the OTA notification soon. This isn't a guarantee by any means, we all know the update process through Verizon historically has always been massively delayed at times when dealing with older devices. Its not like HTC or Verizon though to give constant updates pushing it week to week. They already did their 3 month postponement so I think its legit at this point.

Noob Question please!
Guys, a noob here. Just caught the news about KK coming over to Droid DNA. I have an unlocked version running Viper DNA 1.3.5 on Android version 4.1.1 with Sense 4.
Will I get notification of the KK update OTA since I'm in Canada and hence not running on Verizon's network and secondly, if I do the update, will I be able to run the ViperDNA as a dual boot option or is it even worthwhile to do that?
Thanks in advance folks!!!
Call me crazy, I have HTC one x + (At&T) running android 4.2.2. (STOCK VERSION, updated from 4.1.1 that came out a few months ago...also locked bootloader and an unrooted device).
I've read multiple articles saying the openSSL bug should not affect my phone. However ever security app I download to test for the bug says I have open SSL version 1.0.1c and the behavior is enabled. Now, i understand that android apps can be packaged with their own version of OpenSSL, but I'm not checking the apps. Lockout app & Blue Box both save I have the bug & it's enabled system wide. Annoyed with HTC customer support because they keep saying i don't have it. Perhaps I'm missing something, but why do multiple secruity apps say I'm vulnerable. Any suggestions would help.
thanks all

Same with my stock htc one x.
Spoke to the Swedish HTC support today and their response was that no updates to fix this was currently scheduled so in short:
"Don't use our phone if you care about your passwords being leaked" as I understood it..
I got the same response from htc, they kept saying I was on 4.1.1 and privacy matters. Didn't even listen to me. Hope they fix this...was gonna buy a new phone in a few months. Not sure if HTC will be my first choice unless they can change my mind.
