The official OTA for Honeycomb on the WiFi only Flyer (US version) hasn't been released, and HTC has said it won't be until Q1, 2012. Not sure if that applies to other regions as well...

Wish they would just go straight to ics.
Then again considering how well 2.3.4 was optimized maybe I should just keep it...
It will be in the UK in 2012?

Yes. Wait until next year.
If you don't want to wait for OTA update, globatron has posted a method to s-off, root and upgrade to HC for the Flyer.
European model WIFI RUU for honeycomb: http://www.filefactory.com/file/c03...22U_3822.10.08.07_M_release_227869_signed.exe
I'll be updating the S-OFF method for WIFI models to use this as a base rather than the 3G version.
Anyone already S-OFF can safely run this to have a pure WIFI ROM, probably still UK English only for US people who care.
Ok, thanks for all your help. Happy New year

Hi All!
I bought one today, 3G 32GB model, but I have the same problem. The device can not find any HC updates. It says I'm on the latest firmware, which is 2.3.4 and 2.27.720.2
Thanks in advance

We had the first official release well before the actual release
So this is the actual official release for the 16GB Wifi model due out in Q1 of 2012?
Edit: The final release to which HTC will be making no more alterations?

I just received an update for the HTC Flyer.
System upgrade2.00.405.3. Anyone knows what is changed in this update?
Update – HTC Flyer Firmware Over The Air (FOTA) update
Your Tablet will receive a notification of FOTA update when it is made available. Simply press OK to accept the update via a data connection such as Wi-Fi or GPRS/3G. After installing the update, you can confirm a successful update by confirming the Build number (From the Home Screen go to MENU> Settings> About Phone> Software Information> Software number). The new Build number after the update will be 2.00.405.3. Update: Improve system performance. Note:Please back up your data first before upgrading your phone. We recommend using a free Wi-Fi hotspot or an unlimited data plan to apply this update. If not, standard data connection charges may apply. For any questions, please contact us at http://www.htc.com/www/CA_Hotline.aspx
http://www.htc.com/europe/support.aspx
But what is changed?
My software version number is currently 1.36.405.5. This sounds like a big version number bump although I don't have any updates available yet.
Anyone else have any views on this and has anyone installed the update and seen changes?
I just installed but haven't seen any visible changes. The update was about 25 mb large, so I guess it has only done some minor fixes. Maybe the bootloader?
Just checked on my WiFi only Flyer. No update available here in the US. Europe only maybe?
No update available in the UK.

Hi,

Hi,I'm from Singapore......bought mine 3G + WiFi flyer yesterday and on 1.48.707.3 so far no updates available.
I received the update yesterday as well. Nothing visually changed.
No problems updating.
hi. I'm located in UAE. I have 1.36.405.5 version, also no updates here....
I have been updated today the 4th of june I am in the netherlands the version is now 200.405.3 i noticed no changes
There seems to be quite a bit of confusion regarding this.
I just bought my Flyer in the USA and my software version is also 1.36.405.5. No update has been made available to me. I called HTC and they said that this was a UK update only since their original release was very slow and buggy. However, I am confused that the new release (at 2.00.405.3.) is a much higher number.
HTC makes good hardware, but they seem to be a little overwhelmed in how they roll their software updates out. Oh well, I guess it is what it is and my rig will update when it is ready to.
Does is upgrade android to 2.3.4?
I have software version 1.36.1540.32 and I purchased the WiFi only version from best buy on May 30th.

Where are you guys getting this info from?
Football did post the RUU for HC in his Development thread, but you will lose S-OFF. He says it is the final version. I'm assuming if that's the case, it may be ready for OTA soon...?
I'm assuming that, if Honeycomb is officially released this week, it will be the same version that is in Football's RUU and in globatron's s-off HC. If that's the case, then rather than going with an OTA update or official RUU, I'll stick with the latest version from globatron's s-off method.
What was released is the same version as in my thread.

Flash his ROM with confidence knowing it is the official OTA. Never take the OTA if you want to stay rooted. Too risky.

Follow the instructions in this thread to have s-off with Honeycomb. Running the OTA or RUU directly are not recommended if you want s-off.:

Thanks both. I will go like globatron!!
Very sad we lose the hardware buttons (even smaller display) and phone call.
In OTA says we lose that buttons too.

Just had this popup on my Facebook HTC Feed about 15 min ago:
Ready for some ‘sweet’ news? The GSM version of the HTC Flyer tablet, available in Europe, is beginning to receive updates to Honeycomb beginning today! Honeycomb brings a ton of improvements to Android on tablets, including the latest version of HTC Sense for Tablet with enhanced Internet browsing, Mail, Calendar and more all optimized for the 7" screen. Not to be outdone, the WiFi version of the HTC Flyer will receive its Honeycomb update soon, too! Stay tuned for more details.

You won't be able to apply the update to an existing honeycomb installation, it is a set of binary patches not a complete image.
Is it the same build as the latest wifi leak, i am on that.

One question I have is whether the GPS locking issues are still prevalent in this most recent update. As far as I'm aware, even the latest wifi leak has issues with GPS lock-on. There's a patch somewhere in the development forum, but from some replies, the patch does not fix the issue. I was sort of hoping that the official release by HTC would have that fixed.

I must be linguistically challenged - hadn't noticed much of a difference...and don't see a need to revert to GB to do it the HTC way.
Anyone think otherwise?

When will we be able to root the flyer after an official HC update?
So just to be 100% clear, if I DID want to update via OTA, I would need to follow Globatron's S-ON/revert method, correct?

The HTC One on at&t already has a carrier pushed software update for it... I wonder what was changed.
Current software:
Build 1.26.502.6 Radio 4A.13.3231.20_10.30.1131.05L
New software:
Build 1.26.502.10 Radio 4A.14.3250.13_10.33.1150.01L
Hopefully it fixes the bluetooth A2DP issue I was having... the phone was skipping with Spotify in my car over bluetooth on my pioneer headunit. My Galaxy Note II works just fine in my car.
Isn't the international one on 1.28, and a leaked 1.29 build is out??
And how did you get an AT&T one?

Nice, didn't notice they made an AT&T specific forum, I had this one bookmarked . Either way still seems kind of pointless as the hardware is exactly the same. It isn't like some other devices that are changed for the USA market.

Its probably that camera update that the international got, along with the typical performance improvements and what not.
Its probably bringing the phone to retail software. Don't think it will fix the bluetooth issue its the LTE interfering I think. Turn off LTE and see what happens.

It doesn't appear that much has changed since the leaked RUU, as the software number is the same. If HTC doesn't release an official RUU soon, do you think the leaked one will suffice for most people?

I have received the needed ota zip files, and am working to see if there is a way to create a patch for our existing 4.2.2 builds, there doesn't seem to be a massive difference in apps or framework but there is a fair difference in libs and modules. ultimately it may not prove useful but will giv it a shot.
im going to close this thread for now if need be I will reopen it at later date.
