Amazon UK listing both editions of Flyer at £479. - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

Hi,
I know someone else posted this the other day, but it was soon 'corrected' by Amazon.
However, as the title, Amazon UK are currently selling the 32Gb/3G edition of the Flyer for £479, the same price that the are selling the 16Gb/Wifi only edition.
Everyone else still seems to be selling the 32Gb/3G edition at £559 or £599.
Having talked about it for weeks, I've just placed my order. Now to see if Amazon honour the transaction.
Direct Link to product: http://www.amazon.co.uk/HTC-Flyer-inch-Android-Tablet/dp/B004VF612G
Iain.

Does that price include stylus?

I have to say that I'm assuming that it includes the pen. The description makes me believe it does.
Also, as I understood the Pen was a 'standard' item within the EU packaging, unlike the US.
If it doesn't then it will be returned!
Iain.

Yea Id assume it does as well from the description but Id have prefered they said it did come with it for certain.
Just spoke to HTC Europe on live chat to get confirmation about the "does it have / doesnt it have gorilla glass" and they didnt know because it isnt listed in the specification. If it isnt then Im not purchasing (but its in my Amazon basket)

Now £559.98

Yeah, was just noticing that too. Thankfully for me I did place the order earlier today.
Just waiting to see if Amazon find a T&C to not honour the earlier price.
Iain

Placed the other last week for 479, received today,

Seems to be a lot of mis-pricing. I got mine with stylus and everything for £479.99 (that's the 3G 32GB one) from Best Buy UK.

HTC Flyer Availability (Best Buy US)

So I have pre-ordered my Flyer here state-side at Best Buy (seeing that I work at one)... And just checked the inventory system today and it appears that the tablet is showing an in-stock date of 5/22/11 or this upcoming Sunday!
So I hope that my store gets one, because I'm the only one that has pre-ordered
P.S. This would be the 16Gb WiFi only version of course!
And sorry if someone already posted this!
I hope they come in Friday!

Update please!
Sorry
I haven't been back to work since posting, I return on Friday, however I will have a friend check the SKU for me if he works tomorrow to see if any are on the Truck coming for the weekend!
Sweet, look forward to the update, glitz.
If they are on the truck I will see if I can pick on up on Sunday.
I was hoping the the pre-order folks would get them on or before the 22nd...
Wonder if it would be possible to convert my pre-order into an in store pickup if they are on the shelves Sunday.
The just officially announced availability on Sunday, May 22nd in Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile stores.

I can't post links yet...
"Wi-Fi HTC Flyer Tablet Launches May 22 Exclusively at Best Buy
Best Buy today announced that the Wi-Fi only version of the HTC Flyer™ tablet launches on May 22. All Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile standalone stores, as well as BestBuy.com, will have the tablet exclusively at launch. The HTC Flyer is a fast, portable, light-weight tablet that integrates the immersive and highly intuitive HTC Sense™ experience and enables content including videos, music, games and more to be easily accessed and enjoyed. The addition of the HTC Flyer to our tablet lineup gives Best Buy further opportunity to help connect customers with the mobile technology that best meets their needs."
Is there any word on how much each Best Buy is getting?
I wouldn't mind jumping the border this weekend to get one if theres no shortage.
More Information
So yeah as jwiskowski posted it is official 22nd is the launch date! So I have some rather interesting news, my store has 3 Flyers on order. However they are not listed as in-transit (meaning they will be on the next delivery truck). So it appears that they will probably be drop-shipped just how they did with the iPad 2. So basically that means the UPS delivery person will bring them with regular store deliveries, and being that UPS doesn't ship to us on Sunday... I think it'd be safe to say the stores will have them by Saturday, but clearly they can't sell them until Sunday!
F0l3ert the only way to check this would to be to call the nearest store to you state-side, give them the Flyer SKU (2390524) have them plug that into RSS (the inventory system) and see what they have on order. If they are nice they shouldn't have a problem doing that haha
Oh and the stores on order number is usually excluding their demo unit so that should be an accurate on-hand count (meaning ones they can sell).
Hope to see y'all soon with your Flyers!
Oh and here is a link to the Engadget article outlining the launch details - click here!

Thanks for the tip. I called a few stores around my area and they are all getting about 8 units each. They said it was going to be a free for all on Sunday.
I also called to check if I could change my online pre-order to a in-store pick-up, and they couldn't do it since it wasn't actually shown in-stock at the stores.
Might be an interesting Saturday night / Sunday morning to figure out how I can pick one up before my trip next week.
Can you provide the sku for the pen?
I visited two BB's today (Friday 20th)... both of them had physical possesion of their allotted Flyers... but alas, neither would sell one to me. Told me to wait until Sunday.
I tried.
Best Buy just called me!!!! I am picking up my Flyer today!!!
Flyer is for sale now. Street date of 22nd was lifted and stores were instructed to sell on arrival today. Go get em

I just got mine. They apologized for not calling but apparently just unpacked them. I would say they had 40-50 at my store. (Orlando, Fl)
They had 10 pens out on a rack near tablet/phone accessories. No Flyer specific cases were present. Just generic one-size-fits-most zippered neoprene cases.
I will inbox and review ASAP.
I was at one 90 mins ago. They would not sell me one. Told me to come back on Sunday.

Where is the best place to buy a GSII?

I know the US model is coming out VERY soon but I really want to get this phone. Right now I am an infuse owner and was looking to just buy this outright since I used my upgrade on the infuse a couple months ago. Where do you guy recommend me ordering one? Or the one that seems to be the most reliable? I was looking at amazon and a few other site but just cant decide. Thanks in advance!
Amazon. Nowhere will you get a warranty (aside from Expansys USA which offers mail in warranty back to the UK).
Plus with Amazon, my box was sealed and I got a Brazilian model that's one of the first to get 2.3.4.

Was that ordered directly from amazon, or from a 3rd party store fulfilled by amazon?
Also, they have used-like new galaxy s2 for $629.99, that qualifies for SquareTrade.

Directly from Amazon (i.e. "ships from and sold by Amazon.com"). I'm not fond of resellers for unlocked phones. I once ordered a Nexus S I9020A (for AT&T's network) from a reseller on Amazon. Sure enough, I received an I9023 (European model - not compatible with AT&T). I promptly returned it. I just trust Amazon direct and don't like rolling the dice with 3rd part sellers.
Careful on the open box...I ordered an open box SGSII from Amazon and received a friggin Verizon phone (used and beat up). Some jerkoff stole the SGSII and returned the box with a Verizon phone in it. See my photo on the product listing.
I have never ever had any issues with Warehouse deals (open box) items from Amazon, but got burned pretty bad with that one. The good news is Amazon kindly credited my account for the return and even gave me a $50 credit, making a brand new SGSII the same price. Can't ask for more than that.
I bought my gs2 from Popular Electronics, who is based in Chicago. I live in Canada. Interesting experience with these guys. They have their store warranty, which is useful. I'm not sure how long that warranty is for. They ship free to the US too. Right now, the phone is cheaper than the one on Amazon. Plus, they have a "Low price guarantee" and will match any other prices anyway.
I'm from Canada. My first phone gs2 (brand new, fully sealed with seal sticker) was defected (hardware, touch screen didn't work lol). I called them and they gladly helped me with a replacement phone. I had to pay to ship it to them though 2nd phone, another hardware defect (line of dead pixels). Once again, it was brand new and fully sealed. They couldn't believe that of all the customers they've sold the gs2 to, I was the unlucky one to have 2 faulty phones. They took that one back too and sent me my current gs2 which runs perfectly smooth. If you call them, ask for Tahal (possibly spelled as Taha) He is the man!

Yep, that is my photo. Imagine how pissed I was when I got home, ripped the box open only to discover that...
As usual, Amazon made it right. It does piss me off that someone swapped it and made off with a SGSII. They probably paid like $100 on craigslist for that Verizon junk. Punk.

England or America?

I'm on a flight to the states, just about to take off. Had intended to get TP in USA, but having read this forum, it seems the ones in the UK have less issues. Is this correct? I have a stop over in London and could try to pick one up in duty free...
Is there even a difference? The biggest advantage would be that a UK model would come with a 3 pin plug.

I don't know....seems like I remember reading about a UK guy that had 8 returns....But I think that the best thing would be to get it in the country that you live....that way you're sure there are no "unforseen" problems, like DRM liscensing, etc.
Bob
Hell, I'd get it in the states, dollar < Euro/£
Keep in mind though, the wifi channels for the wireless adapter stop at 11 in the states. Also, I'd tun it on in the store where you get it, make sure everything is OK with it in case you have to return, you can do it on the spot.

7 returns, me. I would recommend buying one in YOUR country, and from the shop with good refund policy. You could in theory buy one in duty free and check it there and then, the but if it's Dixon Travel, and I believe they are the only ones selling this sort of tech, you can only return it to normal store not duty free, at least that's what I've been told by one of their staff. Good luck.

You will pay about 40% more in England. All consumer electronics are a lot higher.
IMO a subjective non validated improvement is not worth the premium. Not to mention if you have issues with the device and need to have fixed or returned.
in England, it comes bundled with the keyboard dock. You cantt buy the tab on itss own.
None available in the airport, just ipads, acer and a Samsung 10.1" but they had no model information... I'll get it in the States.

Whilst this is often true, to be fair to Asus the price they are charging the UK for the Prime+Dock bundle is pretty much the same as the total cost for the two in the US if you factor out the 20% VAT we pay in the UK and convert to USD at 1.5$ to the £.

I took a walk around Chicago last night and didn't find a shop that sells tablets. What shops stock the TP? There is a Best Buy a couple of miles away, should I try there? It's times like this when Google Maps is your friend...
Best Buy or Staples might be your best bet for finding one in a big box store. Also, Best Buy has their satellite stores (Best Buy Mobile) in malls and what not that you may want to try. I was just in one yesterday and they at least had a floor model on display (not sure if they actually had any in stock though)
Was just in best buy. They had a display model but no stock - they only recieved 2. I met a nice gentleman who informed me that they are sold out across Chicago and there are none to be had. He did mention a store called AJ G.... But I can't remember the name of them.
Probably HHGregg is what you are looking for. I checked their stock for Chicago area and it shows none available but here is the link.

That's interesting, I know my local Best Buy only received 2 as well. I actually bought one and then returned it when my Champagne pre-order came in.
Order from US Amazon.com, and have them next day or 2 day it to your hotel.... if they will ship to hotels??? Guess just put the hotel address, and in care of yourself. If something is wrong with it and needs to be returned before you leave, they pay for return shipping.

Tried to order one via Amazon, but they have none, except for non Amazon traders who are looking for a fortune...
Gonna look into ordering it via Amazon UK and getting it delivered to a friend in London (i'll be passing through next weekend) only trouble is the UK ones are all with keyboard, so still very expensive.
Anyone want to suggest other options? Bear in mind I'm living in the middle east, and Amazon won't deliver there...
Also, what's the best colour? I used a purple one today, which was on display, I presume that is the one called grey ?

If you are a non-EU resident, you can claim the VAT back when you leave the country, which will save you about £80 bringing the cost down to the US level.

HTC Flyer on the cheap

Hi all,
I've just seen a HTC Flyer for sale online (forgive me for not revealing my sources).
It's a fairly reputable auction site and 'apparently' it's 3 months new, 16GB Wi-Fi version with case, box, headphones, pen and a free 32GB MicroSD Card... looks ok in the pictures for cosmetic damage.
Seller wants £100 for it... What do you all think? Is it worth it? I know they still RRP for around £300+, so it could be a bargain!
Unsure.
cheers,
T-L-H
Lessee....that's about 150 USD, so yeah...thats a good deal.
I dunno what "3 months new" means but you'd be hard pressed to find a flyer that cheap over here even used. Best price I've seen is 180 USD refurbished.
I am selling mine on Swappa, it comes with more than just the unit, but am asking $335 for it.
http://swappa.com/listing/TKX494/view
Mine is listed in the XDA Marketplace w/ Scribe, Otterbox Case, charging dock and Screen Protectors.
Hi all,
I'll take a look at what you're offering but I don't think it'll compare to £100!
If anyone has a 3g version for sale, send me a pm so we can work something out (I'm in Texas).
Thats a fantastic deal. Maybe too good to be true. Is the seller reputable?
If its an auction, then 100 pounds is just the starting price or the current bid? Or a "buy it now" price?
If its just the starting price or current price, keep in mind that the huge majority of auction bidding happens in the last couple hours leading up to the auction end, even the last couple MINUTES.
With any online auction, make sure the seller (not just the website) has a good reputation. I typically will not even consider buying from somebody that has less then something like a 98% rating. A marginal or poor rating means, at a minimum, that the seller is not good at communicating (responding to inquiries or issues), and /or slow at shipping (none of which you want). Worst case, a bad rating means that they are a scam artist.
I'm not sure why people keep mentioning auctions or buy it now prices.
All I said was that the seller wants £100 for it, and that's the flat price.
I think it's an ok deal.

You said in your OP that it was on an auction website. So unless you explicitly note otherwise we might assume its . . . (wait for it) . . . AN AUCTION!!!!! Imagine that!!!
Also, I'm the only one that mentioned auctions or buy it now price, so I don't know why you're on about "why people keep mentioning . . .".
You haven't given many details, so its hard for anyone to say whether its a good deal or not. Is it available straight from this "fairly reputable auction site", or is it the type of site where individuals post things for sale (like eBay). If its an individual seller, do they have a good rating?
I have a HTC View that I would sell for $240 + shipping if anyone is interested, I think I'm going to list it in the XDA market place.

Do you have a link to your Flyer on MarketPLace?

US Buyer Reccomendation

I am in the US looking to buy one of these. Any recommended sellers?
From xperia blog they recommend Clove and Handtec from the UK. Handtec seems cheaper (vs ebay for perhaps better returns/warranty).
I'd appreciate any recommendations from people here who have purchased.
Handtec sells for $572. Ebay is closer to $540
If I do get it from ebay (from taiwan or HK), could I run into issues with languages?

I purchased mines at Plemix for $520 + $28 shipping. Also purchased a Z1 compact there with no problems. Shipping was within 2 days so that's a plus. Currently, there's a free 32 GB memory card special until the end of the month. Haven't really had any issues with them and never really contacted customer service so I can't say anything about that. Not too sure about the returns/warranty but there's info about that on their website.
Thanks. Although from some quick research on Plemix I see some mixed reviews. I'm sure most of these places online are fine if everything goes smoothly. Its really when something goes wrong (ie. item arriving damanged, DOA) to see how it is handled.
I've also noticed that Amazon UK has it for cheaper than Clove and Handtec. The Xperiablog article said AmazonUK does not allow VAT to be excluded but it was excluded when I added it to the cart. Actually, I notice I can buy directly on Amazon US for around $540. I might just do that.

Isn't the one listed on amazon from third party retailers like expansys? I wonder how they handle returns just in case.. any idea??
I got mine from Amazon for $550 and received it next day thanks to Prime shipping. No issues.
I ended up ordering through amazon as well. I decided to save $10 and get the non-prime option. Although I ordered it Friday and it came today. I just wasnt at home to sign for it. (Missed the guy by 10min)
I think the only issue will be if I need to send it back for warranty. I'll have to pay shipping both ways to Hong Kong or Taiwan or wherever the phone originated from.

I live in Australia and have bought the z1 and z3 compact from Clove UK, have bought other tech from Handtek, had no problems or issues with using Australia cell provider, support or anything. I now have the z5 compact which I bought from ebay Quality Deals Store on Ebay when ebay had 20% off store wide recently, got it delivered for a bargain $600 AUD. The phone came quick, set it up in English easy and it works on Australian networks etc. Couldn't be happier ☺
Amazon was perfect for me. These past two weeks has it seldom carry the Z5c as Prime... usually a seller ships some 10 devices to Amazon's warehouses (to be categorized as Prime) but those fly off the shelves. In the past two weeks I have seem some 60 Z5c as Prime to disappear within hours, but if you look daily, they are there.
If you are in the US, at $550 Prime is worth it over ebay's $540 in my opinion; faster shipping and 30 days possibility to return it.
do you need amazon prime account for it? is this different from 3rd party sellers on amazon?
