RAM???
Android requires that the /system and /cache and others be mounted as read-only memory
I don't think I'm understanding the question

ehm like the old versions of TyphooN CyanogenMod 7 that had the "ram" folder (\system\ram) where there are app, framework and lib folders...do i have to create just the folder or there are other things to do?

? Maybe look into using an apps2sd init.d script and change where it mounts to that folder ?
But I'm not sure what the point would be...
What are the benifits of moving the frameworks and apps to another folder?
Sent from my DROID2 using Tapatalk

doing this thing you have lib,app and framework always in the ram memory (they are loaded during the loading state of the os) so the phone is more responsive because files are always available in the ram...however i don't think is something in the init.d folder because i've seen into the "tyohoon 2.4.1 ram" and there are the "standard" scripts...may it be something linked with boot files?

http://www.androidenea.com/2009/06/android-boot-process-from-power-on.html
Not sure how to make that happen but this might help
Ican help you make the launcher and apps harder for the system manager to kill ... but i dont think that is what you are looking for

[Q] Purchased applications with system applications exchange.

I want to replace my purchased or downloaded applications of the predefined system applications. What opportunities are there without too much effort?
How can I create a zip file?
And my second was to ask Slade87 ..

Hey slade87,
when I try to install bootsound.zip comes no sound. What am I doing wrong? In the old kernel version 1.62 it worked.
Start with the logo looks cool, but can you please tell me how to make the changes? Not the second. The first.
Thank you.

edit: I have a custom ROM unzipped and found something. All applications have a file called ODEX. How do I create such a file and is this important?

'(GUIDE) Backup System Apps for Noobs

It`s very important, that you make a Backup of your System Apps, before you play around with/delete Them. A very easy Way, in my Opinion, is to use the Flashtool. get it here:
http://androxyde.github.com/Flashtool/
CREDITS for this great Flashtool goes to: Bin4ry and Androxyde
Now root your Device by using this Guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10881307&postcount=5
(you`ll find also Guides for:clean SE Junk/ Costumize/ Optimize there)
CREDITS for this guide go to: Crowds
Now you should see this: (see the first attached Pic)
1. get SU rights:
2. press under Advanced -> Backup System Apps
well done! you juste have backuped your System Apps
3.To flash them all again, press APK Installer, select the Source Folder, flash.
if you need only some apk`s, you`ll find them in the Folder: Flashtool-> custom-> apps_saved
this works with deodexed and odexed ROMS !!!
if you Backup your system Apps from a Odexed Rom,
the apk AND the odex file will be saved. (see second attached Pic)
if you don`t know what deodexed/odexed means, here a short explenation from ranjan.alva (Thank him):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21366939&postcount=1
And if the rom is Odexed?
Great tip. I usually use SystemApp Remover or Titanium Backup. Will try this.
@ ChavitoArg
I think, you should backup your System Apps when you are the next Time on Original SE. Then you will have ALL Apk's .

nice! thx for the tip, I hated to use titanium backup, too slow... as a regular rom flasher its useful to know this trick, thx again

You did not understand what i say, you know what is odexed?
@ Chavito Arg
I know what odexed means my friend and if i didn`t, we live in a World with Google and Wikipedia . But i have really no experience on this issue. So report us of your knowledge.

If a rom is odexed, like MiniCM. the system apps are EXAMPLEAPP.apk and EXAMPLEAPP.odex , has two files for each app. and the odex file is heavier than the apk, if you delete just the apk you are noth deleting the odex file, and no saving any space. I hope you understand me
get it chavito ...
Edit:
this works also with odexed ROMS !!!
if you Backup your system Apps from a Odexed Rom,
the apk AND the odex file will be saved. (see attached Pic)

Does that mean you don't know where flashtool is actually installed on your system?
If you know in which folder Flashtool is located you should still have a /custom subfolder with an /apps_saved folder in there.
A simple search for custom on your filesystem may already yield the correct folder.

ok, got it! under mac it is saved within the flashtool.app itself- you get access via "show package contents" and eventually you will find a folder according to your build which contains all the .apk etc.
thanx

How to easy switch rom with link2sd enabled?

Anyone knows because I want to switch to minicm but afraid to lose all my apps?
Sent from my X8 using Tapatalk
maybe you must use titanium backup or romtoolbox, before you switch rom, backup all of your data, and after switch to new rom you can restore all of them.
easy method you can backup all app with rootexplorer, just copy from data/app to sdcard, and after switch rom, reinstall what you need from there.
But roms have 10app2sd file in unit.d folder that links app folder to sdext. If someone could make userinit that every boot check that there is app2sd file and delete it and check for link2sd file in unit.d folder and copy there I will be nice.

[Q] How can I remove XSinfinity sound mod? or any other sound mod from the rom?

Hello , this is my first post
I have been in the android development section for so many time and I cant make a post or reply there because I have to post at least 10 replies in the General section.
Anyway , I dont know whether this question is in the right section or not , But the admins can kindly take care of that.
THE QUESTION :I have been using customs roms posted by developers in the android development section for so long and I know how to edit them after downloading but can anyone tell me how to remove sound mods like Xsinfinity or any other sound mod from the rom? See sometimes i like the whole rom and the music players but what spoils it to me is messing with the sound levels .. so is there a way to remove them ?
Thanks for your time.

The mod most probably replaces the system sound files... So in order to revert back you'll need to restore the backup... Or flash the original sound conf files in cmw..

I think it's much better to reflash the original Rom than to search and replace individual files... Hmm. .. You can backup your apps and contacts... I did the same when sound mod messed up with system files and disabled xloud....

Alright, that was helpful
1)Download Xs-infinity sound mod
2)Unzip (or just open the file) and look for same files in the rom
3)Delete exceeding files (the ones that don't have a correspondant in the same destination)
4) Replace file with same name (sound.lib etc) using ones from a stock or other custom rom
5) ???
6) Mod deleted

Just re flash your Rom. Then it replaced original files.
Guys .. The rom already has this sound mod .. So flashing it again wont do me any good .. Unless u mean that i reflash the stock rom but whats the point then i'll lose the custom rom .. It seems like theres no solution but deleting the files.
The only solution is the one i posted.
If you want you can make a script that will do it using adb shell rm cmd but not many other solutions than this..

Noobs helping noobs, learning android, and etc optimisations !

I made this thread for all the ones (like me) who are trying to learn how android is working, how to do custom rom or other optimisations...
Post your questions here !
how to make android run smoothly and fast on wave 2 like wave 1 ?
Basically easiest way is to port Tigrouzen kernel on Wave II... Since their about the same device this should be easy (I think). Just a copy/paste on screen driver should be enough... I'll give it a try later... Need Linux first :silly:
The main problem on our device is... RAM... So we must find way to have more or to be handled better.
ok.. keep us updated
---------- Post added at 07:04 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:58 PM ----------
but there is one thing that i can't understand... galaxy mini has android and it's way weaker than wave phones galaxy mini has 800MHz processor and 384 mb RAM (I think) and wave phone have 1GHz processor with 512 mb so can't we run it smoothly ?
FAIK...
Wave on android has 250MB available... There is 128MB RAM more, but reserved for modem.
ok i understand now .... but is there any app or command that allows us to increase ram or manage automatically while using android ?
You can install swap, it's like in windows, it uses "regular memory" (on HDD for windows or SD card for android) as RAM, but it's not as fast as RAM and it decrease SD card life. You can install RAM scripts too.
But the best way is making new optimized ROM...
Have a look to dev options and performance options. You can play with them
For those of you who you want to install Linux simply. Install Wibu. Works great for me. http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/windows-installer

You may be stuck by Settings app... Try removing it and replace it by original one.
hey Soxix, plz create a thread for wave II updates.. cause wave 1 user are angry when somebody(wave II) ask for Tigrouzen work.

Please try to think about this deeper... or minimum LONGER...
It is NO ZIP Archiv, where you can extract something and Bingo, 1 click, all is done...
My Questions...
1.
As Windows user I can't extract easily extract cm-10-wave-xx.zip...
Because few files are more then one time...
I wish te remove few files... like unused TTF Fonts, Pics etc...
Maybe also few *.apk files are useless...
Later I will post more details...
2.
How/where is ZIP extracted in Wave? In OSP?
How can read this? On bada site...
For Backup and/or Modification...
Best Regards

let's change word "decompress" by "decrypte" as a zip file with password protected the password here is the script obtained from decompiled exe multiloader file.
IT'S JUST AN IDEA OR OPINION (EVEN IF STUPID)

By other meaning I WANT TO UNDERSTAND HOW DOES MUTILOADER WORK WHEN FLASHING WAVE

I don't understand... It works great for me. Do you mean some files are missing ? If you have troubles you can use cygwin. It easely decompress/compress ROM zip.
You can remove TONS of files. I'm on a slim ROM that I've ported, it's less than 90MB... Original is 150MB... (sorry I'll upload it later, I have got some trouble to upload...)

You answered yourself !
DroidSansFallback is major system font I think. Maybe we can remove Asian language letters ?
I'm also wondering where are the system languages... They are TONS of languages we could remove... Why is there so much useless languages ? For example there is a French/Belgium and a pure French language, but nearly no real difference between them
