[Q] picasa integration - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

is there any picasa integration for this HTC flyer?
i cannot find the icon or button, used to be on the gallery on my previous android device (DHD).
i also check the sync and not finding the sync, only the calendar, contact and gmail sync available.
anyone have different experience?

Hi
I have found this also. It's with the 2.3.3, the Picasa integration disappears. I had it on my DHD but after the 2.3.3 update it kept force closing and crashing. I uninstalled the add on and went to re install but the app is no longer available from the HTC Hub/Likes.
Just have to wait and see if they fix it and put it back on!
Hope this helps,

Hopefully this won't be too off-topic, as it seemed worse to start another Picasa thread so soon after this one. But on a similar note, how are you guys accessing Picasa? If I go to Picasa on the stock browser, it forces to the mobile version of the site. Then, when you got view a photo, its tiny and very low resolution. The photo is actually smaller than the thumbnail!
Things look fine in the free Picasa Tool app. But it seems silly to have to use a 3rd party app to use a Google product on an Android tablet. Plus, Picasa Tool has its own flaws. Namely, when you view a gallery, it forces to portrait (does not rotate into landscape), which is pretty annoying if you are viewing photos in landscape mode.
Any workarounds or suggestions?

To be honest I used my DHD for Picasa, until the update lol. Now I'll upload to Picasa but not view, which is a shame as it would be ideal to take with you and be able to show off your pics.
I tried the Picasa tool but didn't like it, as you said weird to have a 3rd party app on an Android tablet!
I have just ended up adding all the pics on Picasa to the Flyers external SD, duplicating the pics but at least they are full size and easily accessed.
I am really hoping they fix the add-in soon as it was great to have Picasa there as an extension of my albums!

yeah im really hoping there's an access to the picasa web album from my flyer, it's a great tablet
SOL

On my Nexus One my Picasa folders just showed up in the Gallery. I had assumed that it would be the same on the Flyer but not so. I really miss that functionality, it was so seemless.
Since the N1 is running 2.3.4 it's not an Android thing, it's the way HTC has implemented their version of the Gallery app. I really hope they get that upgraded soon.

I also thought so. Try to reduce dependency from google maybe?

More likely some kind of deal with Flickr, I'm guessing.

There is an app called Gallery 3D https://market.android.com/details?id=com.cooliris.media - I think it was ripped from Nexus One, but i seamlessly integrates with my Picasa albums

[Q] Gallery is frustrating, is it just me? >_>

I sync my gallery with Picasa using Photosync by Akira Soumi. But the gallery puts my pics out of chronological order/doubles pictures.
I'm supposing this is because of the slowmo SD read times...?
Does anyone else have this issue or it is only me? I use my gallery extensively on both EVO and Jetstream. But the jetstream gallery has been frustrating me the last week or more this way.

Liberty ROM Toolbox lets you increase read speeds on the SD.

[Q] How to remove some system apps (Flyer) ?

I have BestBye Wifi-only Flyer P512, rooted LeeDroid 2.2 ROM (Gingerbread).
I want to uninstall (remove) the following system applications:
Snapbooth
Latitiude
Places
Navigation
Location
Learn More (shortcut which leads to htc.com)
In almost 4 month of using Flyer I've never used them.
The problem is that Titanium Backup and other uninstall programs doesn't see those apps at all. They doesn't appear nor in User's App list not in System App list.
How to find and remove those apps?
root uninstaller might do it. requires root. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rootuninstaller.free

The only thing I can find with snapbooth in it is in system lib
libhtcsnapbooth.so
Best I can tell it is part of the gallery app. I have the HTC gallery app removed and I do not have snap booth
If you uninstall google maps you will get rid of a couple as well

I removed Goggle Maps and then Places, Latitude, Navigation etc. disappeared.
Now I think about remove Gallery, but I use it sometimes.
Thank you!
You should be able to use an alternate app from the Market such as QuickPic (free) to view photos. This should allow you to remove the stock gallery and related apps like snapbooth.
Personally, I like QuickPic better anyway.
Yes, I liked Ouick Pic very much
It let me to create a shortcut on the desktop to the folder which contains cartoons my son watch. Now he access it with one click - that's great!
I don't need Gallery anymore so I removed it with Snapbooth and Connected Media

Hello
My thoughts, regarding the Android stock browser are very negative so I perhaps it can be removed too?
The flyer is the 4th tablet I have owned except, my first which, was an I pad.
Virtually, in every Android OS I have used, the stock browser has been very tedious and annoyingly, in my opinion unreliable. It's not urgent that it is pulled! However, when my Flyer's software is how I wish, It's very likely that, I won't hesitate in getting rid.
Bearing in mind the above, is it possible to pull this app cleanly and, then replace with say Dolphin or another?

Next the sence keyboard is slowly driving me nutty too...omg so that needs to go asap...but just setting up new dual boot desktop...when finished I will make the change to your Rom....iv heard it's very good...well done

Replacement gallery w/ dropbox?

Hello,
I am trying to find a replacement app for my gallery. It has to be well put together but the main thing is, it needs to have dropbox viewing. The stock HTC gallery app has it but mine isnt working for some reason. Any ideas?

Have you tried quickpic? its free in the market. I LOVE it and never ran into any issues what so ever.
I tried quickpic but i couldnt find any option to view photos from dropbox. Samething with fish bowl.
Does this really not exist? I am looking for a sollution where photos are located on Dropbox or Google Drive.
I think the thing is that pics stored on g drive or dropbox aren't actually on your phone unless you export them to your sdcard.
Although it would be pretty sweet to have a gallery app link to those accounts/apps I wonder if the issue is actually the available api's?

Transferring files using NFC

I have two EVO LTE phones and when I bump the backs together they play an audible tone and vibrate so I know they are connecting with NFC but I can not for the life of me figure out how to transfer a file from one phone to the other. Does anyone have experience with this and can explain how to do it? Thanks in advance for any responses.

Can't transfer files only smaller things like vCards, browser links, youtube links. HTC hasn't added the ability to add other things yet. Samsung built on Beam using wifi direct so i would be surprised to see HTC come up with a similar solution or a app to assist the

Thank you but I still can't even manage to transfer a v-card. Doesn't bring up a menu or anything when the phones are within range. I'm not sure this will be useful at all then accept for google wallet type of functions.

Make sure both phones have the NFC turned on then pull up the contact or the web page(looks like ICS internet and chrome only work - dolphin wouldnt) then touch the backs of the phones together. It will push the item to the back of the screen and then touch the screen and it will beam it to the other phone. You can do the same with some apps as well and it will push app to the playstore. Cant wait till you can beam photos and files.

There is an app on the market called 'File Expert" that allows you to do it but I think when doing larger files bluetooth is faster. but hey if you wanna play. here is a toy.
I really can't wait to beam photos

The 2 major complaints I have. Maybe custom rom/mod?

I never loved Sense but I have learned to like it but I have 2 issues:
The main issue is the HTC gallery. I think is junk compared to stock. I have a lot of galleries on Picasa and Drop box. All of my Motorola and Samsung phones that have the stock gallery must store the thumbnails locally where as HTC download them each time. It takes forever to find a picture I am looking for. Also you have no ability to text or email a picture from one of those sources. It only sends a link that does not work unless I give my login and password. I have instead try to open it myself from the browser and then download it and send.
The 2nd is the htc text message app. Every software revision I have tried does it. 1, On the text notification from the lock screen, if someone texts you as part of a group message and you drag it down to directly go to it, it brings you to the single thread you have with that contact, not the recent message. The 2nd issue is many times I open I thread, it starts at the top of the thread. This could be months or weeks back and that scroll bar is a pain in the ass to grab to keep pulling it to the bottom.
Please let me know if anyone knows of a ROM or Mod I can try to fix this. Every Senseless ROM I have tried still maintains the HTC messenger and gallery.
Thanks,
Dave
I know on sense 5 the messaging problems are fixed, but not the gallery issues you listed.

It might be a good thing that the DNA gallery has to download the pics from cloud services each time. I have a Note 2 and it caches Facebook and Dropbox photos and it was filling up my phone memory (you can't switch it to SD card) and the gallery was STILL super slow.
With only 11 gigs of usable space on the DNA, we don't really want it caching all of those photos.
