Maps force closing on Navigation - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all, hopefully someone can help. I am getting a weird force close on the Maps app when I try and use Navigation. From the Navigation app, I choose a contact (or type an address) and click navigate and immediately Maps force closes every time. What's odd is if I go into the Maps app itself i can type a destination and it works perfectly until I try and get directions using navigation, then it does the same force close. Any one have ANY idea what might cause this or how to fix it?
I am running Das BAMF Ginger Remix 2.0-5 with stock kernel and newest release radio.

Try going to Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Maps > Clear cache / Clear data

Thanks for the reply, I went in to settings and when I first opened the app I got a weird "twitching" or the data/cache numbers, switching from 0 to other numbers I couldn't make out. When it finally settled there was no cache to clear but I did clear data, and got the same result when going back in to the app

[Q] 50% of installed Apps not showing in Market

Hello
I have noticed after I installed the new version of BAMF (and when I did my TiBackup before installing it) that I am missing market links for nearly 50% of my apps. Also these apps aren't showing up in the "My Apps" list in the Market.
It used to be that in my TiBackup all my apps had the "M" icon (which means App+data+market link) but now about half of them are showing a smiley face (which means App+data).
Is there anyway to restore those links? In TiBackup there is an option for market doctor, but that seems to restore links from backups, if I understand it correctly.
I'd like to have the links to make sure I'm running the latest version of all the software.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have the exact same problem.
I had the same problem. The following fixed it for me let me know if it works for you...
Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > open all tab > find and open Market > clear data and force stop.
This should take care of it for ya! Hope it helps!

It worked! Many thanks! (you have been thanked)
The key was the Force Stop. Clearing Data by itself won't do it.

[Q] GPS doesn't lock & Navigation in Maps force closes

I am on Faux's latest kernet for AT&T & Ninja SF.
Everything seemingly works ok in maps (GPS however seems to not be able to lock) until I click on navigation where I then get "Maps (process com.google.android.apps.maps) has stopped unexpectedly".
Tried uninstalling maps through TiBu, have also fixed permissions in Rom Manager without results. Any clue?
Bumping this up, need the damn navigation in a couple of days .. :-(

Did you ever get a fix for this?
Having the same issue...
have you guys tried the 'default' fix
i.e. tibu/nandroid backup as a precaution, then do full wipe and re-flash of your ROM, restore only missing apps off tibu (i.e. so you're left with out of the box maps and navigation). And by full wipe I mean moto-fastboot -w, not just the cache/dalvik cache.
You can also try and see if your GPS actually functions at all by using apps like gps status. Could narrow it down to GPS specific issue or google maps app wigging out

[Q] Stock browser is frozen.

If I type in an address it just sits there ‘spinning’ going nowhere. Trying to get to market.android or amazon get-appstore
Not rooted
Stock browser
Battery is at 86% (was @ 100% when I started this fight)
B&N Content Storage Available 97%
Other Storage Available 82%
Scandisk 4G microSD card installed no class listed on it so don’t know speed
Would like to 1 – Get this browser un-froze, 2 - Get a browser that works (suggestions?), 3 – Get App Manager as stated here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19792544&postcount=8 4 – Get some apps and enjoy my NT.
Thank you for your help.
Try going to application settings and clearing data and cache for Browser? It might be a website it keeps trying to load and failing or it might have some settings messed up.
(I used the Anycut app to make a shortcut to application settings -> open that -> manage applications -> find browser (under the 'all' tab, not downloaded) -> click force close (in case it's running), clear cache, clear data, clear defaults. Reboot, see if the browser works.
Thank you that seemed to help. At least pages are loading now.
For others that may have this problem I had to tap and hold on the browser page to get to a settings page to clear cache and so on.

This seems to be a problem with android and tcp/ip
I have had the same problem on multiple devices with different browsers and it will happen with other tcp/ip apps like market sometimes as well.

[Q] Google Voice notifications don't work

I'm running a Rezound with the latest leak's radios, etc., and CleanROM Pro 4.5. For some odd reason, I can no longer get notifications from Google Voice. I have to open the app to see if anyone's called me or left a message. Anyone got any idea what's going on?
I had this happen once on my Eris...
Go to Settings > Apps > Google Voice, then clear data and clear cache. Then reboot the phone. I always go to recovery at this point and erase the cache partition and wipe the Dalvik cache.
After you reboot the phone back into your ROM, you will have to open up Google Voice and set it up again and redo all your preferences, but it should accept push notifications after this.
I've seen alot of people having problems with Google voice on CleanROM.

I've got the same problem. In order to get my texts, I have to go into my app and refresh. This makes it seem like the sync isn't working or something. I followed these steps and had no luck.

Widespread Browser problem in Kitkat (4.4.2\4.4.4)

Hi
I have a big problem with slightly lesser known web browsers on Kitkat. If I set browsers to automatically clear data (history, cookies etc.) at exit they can't actually clear it. No error message or anything displays but they just can't do it.
I've tested this on both 4.4.2 & the recent 4.4.4 but the issue is present. So, please help me.
Steps to reproduce --
1. Use browsers such as Next Browser, Lightning, Naked, Lucid etc. and set them to clear all data on exit.
2. Surf some site where you can see your history without logging in (e.g. in Google homepage if you search for something & then go again at the search box your recent searches will be there).
3. Exit browser normally i.e. not by swiping out from recent apps.
4. Now, when you again go to the sites you visited on step 2 you will notice your history with them is kept. This data shouldn't be kept if the browsers clear all data on exit was actually working, right?

i think this is just the odd way android works (at its weirdest)
when you hit the back button and there is no more fallback processes to go to, like any app it would just minimize. its not neccisarily a bug but just weird design within android..
data should be wiped when asked to close (aka via recents or anything else like such, or even using a exit option within the browser)
I think its maybe a KK bug because in ICS and Jellybean this works. Why would developers give such an option in their products if this feature doesn't actually work? This issue is present in my friend's non-sony kitkat phone too. Google changed so much in KK, you know! No flash support, no text wrap etc.
Also, in stock Firefox v33 or later this clearing data at exit works 99% of time. Chrome too won't remember data if incognito mode is selected. So, what's going on? Is there no way to solve this problem cause I really wanted to use those browsers especially Lucid browser. Firefox, Chrome are so bloated!!
@XAoler you seem slightly confused, the browsers are set to clear data when the app is closed, you aren't closing the app, as @Envious_Data says your just opening a new window. If you want the data clearing you must manually kill the app.

No, no I am closing the apps from the exit option available in their menus. If the menu option is exit and I select that the apps should close, no? Also, I actually used force stop option as well from system settings. The data will stay even when doing this.
I don't think @Envious_Data said that I am opening a new window. He said its the way android works.
i did mention its the way android works
you have to kill the app for it to be concidered closed. pressing the back button doesnt always work even on aosp, cm11 or anything alike
Uh....none of you seem to really read my post. I am not exiting them using the back button. I exit the apps using the exit button from their menu. So, tell me is it not the correct way to close them???
Also, I used force stop option in android system settings\apps. Data will stay even when using this method. What do you mean by manually killing the app!! How else do you manually kill the apps?
Sorry, if you are killing the app using the exit function provided then yes the app should be clearing data if set to do that, to me it sounds like an app issue rather than the OS. Is the browser still present in recent apps after exiting this way? (should be without a preview) If so that suggests it's incorrectly closing down.
Actually I used 4 different browsers and all of them have this problem. So, clearly this is a OS problem. But I have now switched back to firefox. Mods can close this thread. This was of no use.
