Just a thought...
Since our tbolts get way better battery life while on a wifi. Is there anyway to make an app to trick it into thinking it is sending and recieving wifi signal. And then disbale it when you really want to eb on wifi.
I'm sure there is alot more to it but its just a thought
You can't make it think it's running on wifi or running on the mobile network.

Just to explain a little, the reason for battery life is that on WiFi you have a data stream. Like a hose, when you bounce it around a lot the stream breaks, but reconnects. That is 3g/4g. It is more or less like you checking the hose to male sure you have a solid stream. If you didn't move, you would check less. There is also the matter of different hoses and different stream settings, but well stick to basics. The only way to trick it would reduce likelyhood of a solid stream. This would do more harm than good.

You might want to look at: Menu ---> Settings --> Wireless & Networks --> Mobile Networks --> Enable Always-On Mobile Data (uncheck this). Unchecking this turns off 3g/4g after 5 (or 15?) minutes of non-use. This is a HUGE battery saver if your phone has a lot of standby time (like mine does). You can also set WiFi to turn off after awhile if not in use.
Honestly it was meant as a question i was not sure if it had to do with the setting itself or not. It was a theory.
I really do not understand why people can not give a straight answer yes or no with an explanation instead they would rather flex internet muscles...
Please close this thread
Sit, i believe you do not understand how the radio works, for you i would just suggest putting it into airplane mode when you aren't using the phone. Easy peasy battery saver.
Also thank you for making me lol

1.6 is overkill, plus if you do want one badly, I would suggest you start reading some programming dummies and bibles how to make one yourself.
your question is more like an demand request. least chip in $$$ for the developers, they might let loose, and make one to brick your phone.

Early in development of JACs kernel (Maybe in the beginning of his original kernel thread) there were test pushing the .3 & .4 marks that ended up frying/bricking phones. I'm pretty sure there is a reason why no one has posted anything as "stable" past .3 or even .299 for that matter.
Im not sure how to do it our even how to read it, but I was under the impression that the cpu max is in a # value form. Worst case scenario plug in a #... What's the worst that can happen? :ekk: lol

I saw someone doing this remotely on ebay bro. Don't remember the charge. PM me if you get it done and tell me what works and what doesnt. I have a way to get 25% off your bill every month if that helps. This works if anyone else wants to use this i have for 4 years and everyone I gave this too has recieved the discount. follow it to the T . They don't want proof or anything. You will have the discount within 3 or for days. Don't forget to hit the thanks button e-1 . heres the link. If you want this post removed PM me and i'll remove it.

Idk about Boost, however, if you have Cricket in your area, I just flash my 3vo by using their tutorial on cricketusers.com
I know it's not Boost, but it's another inexpensive-ish mobile carrier based off of Sprint's network.

Wrong. Although this forum is full of smug jerks who are completely useless. I do try to help out when I come to pick up a new rom but avoid it like the plague when I don't need a ROM for this reason.
To OP this is totally doable by your self and you need patience and as im sure you will find out the method is a bit under the table. For this reason I paid someone else to do it im not a lawyer so follow all instructions on your own. If you can't find someone to pay you can do it yourself ebay guides are scam all the info is free if you look or keep reading my post. All the instructions you need are here at xda. First I would suggest rooting, temp root since MSL reader app requires root there are other methods to get your MSL aka SPC but they are a pain this is simple and works. After you root download MSL reader and get your MSL you will need for later. Now you will need your phone in DIAG mode with diag drivers. Follow the instructions here only to step 7 is needed. If it reads fine you are good to go if it does not read the phone you need to fix the diag drivers instructions here. Now you are ready to start instructions here at xda but in the epic4g subforum in this thread all the instructions are the same but you can skip 11. The only purpose of 11 is to get the MSL/SPC which you already have. You are done at step 17 but if you need mms to work check the EVO4G forums pretty similar to the epic but there is an extra menu or 2 but 3D and 4G should be the same.

You shouldn't. You can save a piece of Maps, I'm not sure how, but it should be possible so you can stay offline while testing.
Imho you should. Google maps be damned, damn 3G hipster navigator.
Go oldschool with offline maps, safest way to go.
Why would you buy a tablet for gps navigation in your car? My phone has very good GPS and has never failed me. But if I would depend on it on a daily basis i would get a device that was made exactly for that.
The GPS in the Prime is nice to have and i'm sure it will work for most tasks like adding location to a foto and stuff like that. Or telling me we're I am while watching a map in a city.
But yeah maybe i'm strange^^ I really dont think this is a big issue and i'd like to add that my phone (DesireHD) had similar problems when i first bought it. Now there has been several radio updates and now i always get a lock in 15secs and it almost never drops unless there is a tunnel or something.
Everyone has the right to their own opinion but if you're not buying the prime because of this why did you even want it in the first place?
People always assume you have a phone with GPS in it.. call me old fashioned, but I dont.
I was looking forward to having something decent to navigate with, but Asus dropped the ball on their promises.
And I dont need it on a daily basis, that's exactly why I was looking forward to the GPS on this pad.
Its nice to have but I wouldn't buy an expensive device designed specifically for that task for it.
Basically when Asus told us GPS is useless for navigating,
it felt like they were telling me to buy a tank if I want to offroad because your new ATV cant.

You can save, at least on Nexus S. The option in settings is something like "Maps caching", enable it and then "drive" around the screen with your finger, after that those downloaded maps will be available offline
yeah use google maps to make sure it's charting your path correctly, and not thinking you're driving through trees and houses

Noooo.
No way.
These don't exist.
Everyone needs to complain about the locked bootloader, battery performance, and bloatware they miss!!
I've experienced nothing but awesome from ICS, the phone is better in every way. As a coder the difference between GB and ICS behind the scenes is monumental. I have no idea why anyone would want to revert back to it nor "avoid the OTA".
Positive threads should be allowed, endless complaining threads should

The phone is faster/smoother no lag whatsoever. The apps also launch faster than GB.
ICS is beautiful compared to GB and i have not experienced any compatible issues with games at all. Everything runs fine.
The only thing i miss is flash.
Did anyone miss not being able to launch the camera from the lock screen if you have a PIN set? BTW, I'm on official ICS OTA with no ROMs.

No flash = definitely NOT AWESOME!! Battery life is worse then on GB also! And I'm referring to people that actually use their phone, I'm tired of seeing those screen shots of people showing 70% after like 21hrs, that's a phone that hasn't been touched all day! My phone is at 40% by 11am, on GB i would get it to last at least till 3 or 4pm.
We have definitely taken 3 steps in the WRONG DIRECTION! Something basic s flash?? Seriously! We're no better than an iPhone now! I'm so pissed!!
Horrible battery!
This was with MODERATE use this morning! Even my old Evo did better than that a year and a half ago. I'm so disappointed in ICS!!

Airplane mode.
If you want to go deeper than Airplane Mode, you will have to create a customized firmware for it. Here is a link to a thread in the Captivate (SGH-i897) forum about turning the captivate into something like an Ipod Touch. It may give you and idea of what would be involved.

I exactly wanted to do that, but I am no developer, I wish someone could do that
I would have done it myself if I had the knowledge
isn't there a simple way so that they cell standby wont even get started and just disappears

No, but if you have the time, following that thread would be a good way to get into light development. Essentially, all you have to do is take someone's existing firmware distribution, and do some relatively easy modifications. You would have to learn the tools and how to use them. If you can contact the author of that thread, he said he is willing to show someone what modifications to make. It may still apply on our phone.
Problem is that if someone doesn't have an interest, they are not going to do something for someone else. Maybe if you offered a bounty, someone might take it up.

I'll give whatever support I can. I don't know the tools real well, but I've played with some of them a little, and I do know some windows programming and some other stuff.
Edit: Did a little looking around. You probably will not hear back from the original poster as he appears to be inactive on xda for most of the last year. Here is his original thread which has basic instructions for removing the phone components on the Captivate. This might work on this phone. I think the second thread was to make the interface more pretty.

I never did listen from him as u said. Hmmn but i did visit this thread and did as he did which was quite very simple to be honest. I deleted the phone and telephony apk and csc file. And all other files which were related to phone activities in one or other way.
And well with that the cell stand by went away...
Now i get yellow phone signals
Anyways their is mo cell standby in battery drain
But all is not well i get kernel wakelocks which are keeping my phone awake and draining battery like hell when in standby or screen off...

How do i get rid of this svnet
Svnet i read this wakelock gets active for 6 secs when the phone is looking searching for signals.
And also do anyone know how to uninstall the modem in my phone thanks

Uninstall the modem or flash a new one? You can turn air plane mode on if you want to turn off signal and data when you're in a bad coverage area.
Airplane mode not an option...
How to uninstall the modem.....

Just flash the new one over it in cwm. It replaces the one currently there everytime you flash a new one.
